of his surfboard -- out of his surfboard. that's not the only sighting they are warning about. drivers out of their cars, traffic at a complete standstill on interstate 880 for hours. you can see the pictures taken earlier from newschopper2. it was all triggered by a fiery crash that happened near the marina boulevard exit in san leandro. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. ktvu's brian flores joins us live from along 880 where the freeway finally opened up just a fau hours hours -- just a few hours ago. good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. you saw it unfold on the morning news and "mornings on 2." 880 in both directions moving nicely. but for several hours in san leandro, 880 was pretty much a parking lot. what would normally be a typically light commute on 880 early this morning turned out to be nothing but. he hit that center divide and

just launched, you know, over it and broke pieces of concrete and everything out and then i hear him hit the sound wall -- i believe it was the sound wall or building down there and i hear the impact, kaboom! and i'm like oh, god. please, no, no, no. >> reporter: the chp says the crash happened near the marina boulevard exit shortly after:00 this morning. officers say the driver of an suv going southbound somehow lost control. the driver of a big rig traveling behind it also lost control, tried to swerve out of the way but crashed through the center divide and blocked traffic and created a mess on the northbound side. >> there were chunks of concrete, oil slicks, we had our first responders out there trying to make sure the roads were safe. >> reporter: 11 cars total in the pileup. nine people injured. that included three critically. one person was taken from the scene and ontario this lifeflight helicopter that

landed -- and onto this lifeflight helicopter that landed on 880. investigators are looking onto reports of another car that started a crash. >> we're looking into that. a lot of things people will see something this they believe is suspicious. if you do, we encourage you to call 911 and report it. >> reporter: 880 was closed in both directions for several hours because of the massive cleanup and for the investigation. it wasn't just 880. 238 was brought to a standstill at drivers were left sitting in their cars or standing on the freeway for several hours. >> i've been here for -- well, since about a quarter to 4:00. two and a half hours. almost three and a half. and there's no sense in getting excited about it. can't get excited about it. just relax and go with the flow. >> reporter: the cause of the crash remains under investigation. 880 was slowly reopened. and caltrans crews had to pick up the mess on the roadway.

that took several hours this morning. as for the driver of the big rig and the suv, we don't -- it's unclear what their injuries are but we understand they are cooperating with the investigation. we're live in san leandro, brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right. thank you, brian. san francisco police are looking for a two suspects in the shooting of a victim during an attempted robbery this morning. it happened just before 8:00 a.m. on kamelia avenue in the ing elside district. police say the victim was waiting for a right outside a home when he was confronted by the suspects. >> he was approached by two african-american males who attempted to rob him and then ended up shooting him. >> him. >> the victim is being treated for nonlife injuriesant sf general. we're getting a look at surveillance video that shows a deadly police shooting in richmond early yesterday morning outside of uncle sam's

liquors. the video offers a limited view of a scuffle between an officer and 24-year-old richard perez. police say the store clerk called for help because perez was drunk and belligerent. when officers arrived, investigators say he tried to grab the officer's gun. that's when he was shot three times. >> the suspect attacked the officer and physically grabbed his gun. the officer was able to stand up and retreat and the suspect came after him and the officer fired his weapon. >> the clerk who witnessed much of what happened claims perez never reached for the officer's gun during that fight. friends and family have left candles and notes outside of the store where the shooting happened. perez is the first person to be killed by richmond police in seven years. there are new developments in the troubling nfl domestic violence scandal. commissioner roger goodell announced a few hours ago that the league has fired four women to shape new policies on domestic violence and sexual assault. anna was promoted to vice

president of social responsibility. they will be assisted by three experts related to domestic violence. according to the league, work to find initiatives aimed at raising awareness about the issues and deep ceasing the instances of violence -- decreasing the instance of violence. ray rice is expected to appeal his indefinite pension -- suspension. he was initially suspended for four games. last week his punishment was changed to an indefinite ban after a graphic video was released. the ravens terminated his contract. today rice's lawyers are expected to claim he received two different punishments for the same incident. as for the san francisco 49ers, today's arraignment for ray mcdonald has been postponed as police continue to investigate his case involving his pregnant fiance last month.

cutting down trees, making a control line. >> firefighters are expecting high temperatures and increased winds this afternoon. the fire is only 10% contained. firefighters are battling a fast-moving fire in madera county near yosemite national park. that fire started in the town of oak hurst near bass lake. so far it's burned 320 acres and 21 homes. ten of them are destroyed. about 1,000 people have been told to evacuate. and 500 homes are still threatened. oakland building inspectors today will continue their investigation of the sudden collapse of a deck at an oakland hills home that injured nine people. it happened saturday night as several people gathered to watch the floyd mayweather boxing match. moments later, the deck collapsed with people falling 15 feet. some of them trapped under the debris. >> it was scary once we found out what was going on. a lot of people were yelling and screaming, especially, you know, the girls, they were like

really like, you know, just hysterical. >> three women with broken bones are still in the hospital. a shark sighting and near attack has prommed the closure of with you -- prompted the closure of one beach at manresa and seabright beach is rs having people not to get in the water. janine de la vega talked to a surfer who came face to face with that shark. >> reporter: the skies were overcast as hungry seagulls looked for food. in the sand, a new sign warning of a predator that may be looking for food. on sunday, a woman said she saw a great white shark about 50 yards from the shore. >> she reported seeing some thrashing around in the water and harbor seal being thrown up in the air and landing back down in the water. she believes she had seen blood in the water and then the head of a shark. >> reporter: rangers learned about another great white seen lurking in the water at manresa

state beach. would browning said he was -- bo browning said he was surfing and was knocked off his board. >> caught by a second wave. i don't know where -- popped in the air probably 10, 15 feet. and i looked down and you a saw -- and saw a shark. >> reporter: he was uninjured but showed the spot where a bite was taken out of his board. the attack was enough to close the beach for five days. neighbors decided not to close seabright beach because the shark didn't attack a person. they have stepped up patrols and are advising visitors not to go in the water. >> don't want to get in the water. >> reporter: park range, say shark sightings are -- rangers say shark sightings are rare and most are not overly concerned. >> not particularly. i'm about to go surfing. >> reporter: we watched as swimmers and kayakers took the water leaving of the risk.

panel of three uge judges that -- judges that hear the cases. the cameras follow and they argue the merits of the case to decide a verdict. you can watch the show right here on ktvu and the show debuts at 2:00. our bay area cooling trend continues for your monday. let's step outside, take a look. over the oakland estuary. you can see san francisco there in the distance. mostly sunny skies. even along the coastline. we have partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies at this time. you can see that right here on the satellite views. so those changes coming our way, we started to see those temperatures drift off over the weekend and today it's going to continue. the system here moves in, brings us cooler air. the onshore breeze and the marine layer. still very, very mild. i should say or not as thick as we -- as we typically see it but it's not bad at all. it's the system here behind this one moving into the

northwest portions of the areas like washington and oregon today. that will eventually lead us to the possibility of maybe some rain. i'm gonna take you out a few days, take a look at what's going on. we pick it up for you at this hour, as we get into tuesday, not a lot going on. our cooling trend will continue for tuesday as well as wednesday but i'm gonna stop it here on wednesday morning. this is where it gets interesting. notice here we've got a few scattered showers off the coastline. as it moves inland by wednesday evening, perhaps a little bit of drizzle over parts of the north bay. you can see northern california here. we have low clouds and i think patchy drizzle for the coast. wednesday night into thursday, more on the way. so we're leaving into this possibility of a slight chance of scattered showers in thursday morning as well and then by thursday afternoon, it looks like it dries out. for today, temperatures in the upper 70s in concord as well as livermore. again, a bit of a cooldown with most areas at this hour, a few degrees cooler than we were 24 hours ago. 68 in oakland right now. 73 sfo.

66 half moon bay. 68 for san francisco. for the afternoon, again, temperatures falling off a few degrees from yesterday. we were in the upper 90s on saturday. yesterday's low 90s. i think inland cities ranging in the upper 80s to near 90 with the onshore flow and temperatures 60s and 70s along the coast. afternoon highs for today, 77 for sonoma, 77 in stan ralph fell. 7 -- san rafael. a nice relief finally for you. 78 in san jose. 85 saratoga. 76 for sunnyvale. mid-70s expected in areas around santa cruz for the afternoon. 72 san bruno. 67 san francisco. low to mid-60s expected along the coastline. extended forecast there, showing you temperatures continuing to fall off. it looks like we'll bottom off wednesday into thursday and that's when the possibility of some wet weather will come our way. it doesn't look like a lot but enough to get us wet and then we see temperatures turn around

bank will start to trays interest rates. a weak report on u.s. manufacturing also weighing on the market. the dow is currently up 42. the nasdaq, though, is down 45 and the s&p down 1. after outrage and complaints, urban outfitters is apologizing for a kent state sweatshirt that appears to be splattered with blood, a reminder of the 1970 kent state massacre that left four people dead. the sweatshirt was briefly offered on the urban outfitter website for $129. a statement kent university lashed out at the retailer saying the shirt is beyond poor taste and triflizes a loss of life that hurts the kent state university today. consumers across the u.s. may be able to write negative online reviews without fears of fines. there's legislation introduced that would outlaw fining customers for negative reviews.

this comes after stories about a new york hotel that fined wedding parties $500 for every bad review and then called it a joke. california has also passed a so- called yelp law that fines businesses that charge customers for a negative review. at a time when california residents are being done to save water because of the drought, 2 investigates discovered dozens of leaking pipes across the bay area that took weeks or even months to get repaired. a detailed list from east bay mud shows more than 3100 reports of water leaks in the east bay alone in the first seven months of this year. berkeley had some of the worst cases with one leak even taking 67 days to fix. a neighbor told us the amount of wasted water that flooded his basement from another leak is more than he could ever conserve. >> from the amount of water coming in our basement, it would take -- it would take weeks for us to use that much water in our home.
