the injuries they suffered. the bruises and the cuts were still visible on their faces and arms. the couple explained a man and woman in their 40s knocked on their doors on friday. they said they admired their flowers. the couple let them into their home, gave them cuttings and it wasn't till later that day they realized their money and wallet were gone. at the time they didn't know who took the money. the next day the robbers come back again. this time with a dolly. once the man and woman are inside the home they turn violent. they beat the woman, punching her in the face, and tried to stab her in the neck. they bound her and her husband with rob and duct tape but the woman was able to escape, she hopped a fence in the backyard to run to a neighbor and called for help. >> she is still in shock about

what happened. >> sometimes it is not nice -- [ indiscernible ] >> because people will abuse you. yes, be careful. everyone. they are telling us not to be too friendly. don't open the door unless you are sure. >> reporter: you are looking at the flowers that the robbers came to ask for a cutting for. that was an excuse police say so they could get into the home. they have a description of the robber. in their 40s. tall and thin and the man walked with a fake limp. police say the robbers were driving a blue two door sedan and speaking a foreign language. police believe they have been casing the neighborhood.

they may have knocked on other people's doors with the same excuse and police want to talk to anyone who may have seen this man and woman, the robbers, in the area because the more information they have the easier it will be for them to find them and arrest them. allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. two people are recovering tonight after a car plowed into a bar this afternoon. it happened before 2:00 p.m. in the san francisco north beach neighborhood. two people inside the bar were hurt and taken to san francisco general hospital with non-life threatening injuries. the driver had a warrant out for his arrest for selling marijuana. investigators are working to figure out what caused the driver to veer off the road and into the bar. a wildfire that broke out in northern california this afternoon has already damaged or destroyed 75 structures and threatening many more. it is in the town of weeden and

is 200 acres. here are pictures from the area where smoke is filling the sky. the fire right now is threatening a thousand homes. evacuation orders have been issued for weed. students from two schools were also evacuated today and part of interstate 5 have been shut down. and the king fire is still only 10% contained and threatening 500 homes. 60 miles east of sacramento. the fire started on saturday and grown to 3900 acres because of wind and high temperatures. at one point today firefighters rur forced to deploy their -- were forced to deploy their emergency shelters but all are okay. no homes have been destroyed but hundreds of families have been evacuated. school was canceled today and will be closed tomorrow. chp are trying to determine

what touched off a multi car crash that shut down 880 this morning. the freeway was shut down for hours. traffic was so bad some people got out of their cars because there was nothing they could do. investigators say it appear as car was stopped and a big rig driver swerved to avoid it and flow plowed into oncoming traffic. 9 people were hurt. three with critical injuries. the accident similar to fatal crash in 2008 along the same roadway and today the victim's family tells ktvu's katy eustis caltrans isn't doing enough to protect drivers. >> this morning was similar to with the way the big rig hit, sending concrete.

it was like my bad's accident. >> reporter: today's decision is a reoccurring nightmare for them. in june 2008 husband and father died after the big rig he was drived plowed through the center device -- driving plowed through the center divider to miss a stalled vehicle. the circumstances and location too similar for them. >> it was 100 yards away. it was -- it was eerie. >> the family is suing caltrans say the divider served to catapult the truck. they say it is between 31-33 inches. >> it is not prepared to take an impact from any semi truck. >> they argue the additional capping material is dangerous as concrete flew across the interstate. >> it is creating a weapon that

the e-mail evidence that lead to the dismissal. >> heads rolled today here at pg&e as well as one at the california public utilities commission. >> reporter: pg&e says it reviewed 65,000 e-mails exchanged between its personnel and the california public utilities commission over the last 5 years. they say a handful show inappropriate communications between pg&e and the c.p.u.c. regarding the appointment of a c.p.u.c. law judge. that judge would over see the hearings where pg&e is asking for higher rates. that is something many say the share holders -- [ indiscernible ] the judge would recommend for approval. >> not something we take likely. we are accountable and we took action. >> reporter: pg&e fired its

senior vice president for regulatory affairs, for relations and for proceedings and rates. in effect it will be a totally arm's lengths relationship now. >> the nature of the violations were over the course of three weeks in january of this year and they came around the law judge to over see the hearings. >> reporter: for its part the c.p.u.c. says it forced the assistant to resign. he recused himself from proceedings. they will also look at the actions of its own personnel. expect more heads to roll at the c.p.u.c. as well as more indications that there will be some significant changes of the c.p.u.c., some saying the c.p.u.c. should be reorganized for its

front of headquarters tomorrow morning. union officials didn't want to distribute service for the commuters tomorrow but they said tomorrow's action would be a hint of what could happen if all union workers decide to go for a bigger strike. at issue is 3 years, 3% wage increase that officials say doesn't make up for increased healthcare premium contributions. the fear is a bigger strike could mean service cut backs and more bridge traffic. officials say they didn't want to effect the riders riders and passengers who use the system each day. businesses and commuters were always making plans. >> i probably would come as much. i would stay on the other side.

the contra costa county district attorney investigating a police shooting that killed an an armed man. the video shows him inside the store yesterday morning, police say he appeared intoxicated. outside the store he encountered a police officer and tried to reach for the officer's gun. police say they wressed and he was shot and kill -- wrestled and he was shot and killed. but the store clerk is disputing that. police arrested two football players for hazing a freshman student. investigators say players held down the freshman and shaved a portion of his head in the school's locker room. the two boys are charged with
