the action residents are demanding from the city. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. breaking news as we learn new information on the devastating king fire in el dorado county. authorities announced the arrest of the man accuse odd starting that fire. he is 37-year-old wayne allen huntsman. he is being held on $10 million bail. singles the king fire started saturday they say it has exploded. it burned more than 71,000 acres and has moved into placer county. they say the arson investigation began shortly after the fire was reported. >> from minutes from the discovery and up to and including right now and that we expect that that investigation will be ongoing in the near

future. >> more than 4000 firefighters are battling this fire. 12 firefighter crews had a close call and had to deploy emergency fire shelters. this is one of a dozen major fires in california right now. the other major one in northern california in the city of weed is now 65% contained. cal fire says flames destroyed 150 structures, most of them homes. this fire along with the king fire prompted governor brown to declare a state of emergency in eldora do county. one couple's home went up in flames. amidst the loss they have been moved to feelings of gratitude. they found a letter from firefighters. we moved your trucks to the other side of the road. thanks for leaving the keys. you can find the latest fire information at ktvu.com and

we'll post updates around the clock on twitter and facebook. most of the bay area woke up to something we have not seen in quite a while, some rain. the light showers started overnight and continued through the morning commute. the big question this afternoon is is will they last? we go to mark. the shower coverage has been winding down. a few pockets out there. i'll hold onto the probability, the chance heading into tomorrow afternoon. totals are fairly impressive for this time of year. september 18th starting out with wet roadways out there. look at the numbers adding up as we expecting. it is .38 and santa rosa reporting .11 and the amounts dwindling down for walnut creek and concord and parts of the south bay reporting trace amounts or just dry conditions out there. it wasn't wet for everyone.

in three hours high school gets out and that's when they say this parking lot is mobbed with teenagers are fighting. they say they will close when the riffraff gets violent. this disturbing video shows what has happened one too many times in front of restaurants. >> they are still going. >> reporter: several people we spoke to have seen fights break out. >> they literally surrounded my car. i had to call the police trying to get through. they said people were coming. it was pretty scary. >> reporter: they said they are shutting down the dining areas from 3:00 to 4:30 in the afternoon to avoid after school melee. what are they fighting about? >> a lot of it has to do with boys. >> reporter: taco bell says they will shut down on a case by case basis. >> we have head efforts to have people out here before school

and after school to the extent that it's possible. obviously if we get a higher priority call we have to leave. >> reporter: they pay a security fee but only one unarmed security guard ping toes the expansive parking lot. >> i think it's the land owners responsibility to make sure these folks that are paying rent and leases have a safe place to conduct business. >> it effects the economy and the whole nine yards. it's a ripple effect. >> reporter: they loiter, disrupt traffic and even busted store windows. >> there are literally 50 or 60 teens that congregate here. it is an ongoing problem. >> reporter: some believe the school should do more. we have also spoken to the choose by phone. they referred us to their property manager. mcdonald's says the drive through will be open when the dining area is closed after

francisco airport. people describing it as total devastation in cabo san lucas and they say the u.s. isn't doing enough to get citizens out. what started as a group vacation ended up in a scramble to survive and get out after severe damage from hurricane odile. >> once the storm hit on sunday at 3:00 a.m. it stopped becoming a vacation and it became kind of a pretty crazy nightmare. we were wading in humid waste and mud and who knows what else. it was bad. >> reporter: chris harris describes the situation as devastation and chaos. >> all of the hotels in cabo san lucas are demolished. all of the stores, the costco,

wal-mart, sam's clubs have been looted. no water. no gasoline. no body knows what to do. no leadership. >> reporter: witnesses say the looting was so bad it interfered with people trying to get out of town. the mexican government says it closed the airport but began air lifting tourists to other mexican cities using military jets. they have criticized the u.s. government for not sending help. he says canadian tourists had government and others helping to get them out almost immediately. >> they came for their people immediately. as for us we heard nothing from the u.s. government. those are the only two people that we saw the homeland security guy and the u.s. embassy guy. the only advice we got in passing as we were walking by is get ton first plane you can get where ever it goes. >> reporter: and a lot of those flights are coming here to san

more details are surfacing about an arizona cardinal football player arrested on domestic violence charges. dwire was released after posting $25,000 bail. a police report says in july he head butted his wife when she refused his sexual advances and broke more nose. he struck his 17 month old son in the stomach with a shoe. they deactivated him from all team activities. it is not a new problem. over the past 13 years between 2000 and 2013 there were 84 domestic violence arrests involving pro football players and during that time no player received more than a one game

suspension. jackie spear is calling on the nfl to crack down on players accused of domestic violence and calling on roger goodell to step down. >> i think that he certainly should resign. i don't know if that's going to happen but regardless of whether he resigns or not i think the nfl has got to put some really strong policies in place. once you're arrest for domestic violence you shouldn't be allowed to play in the game. >> domestic violence charges are still pending against ray mcdonald. they are planning to have him play on sunday. nancy pelosi said players should play until evidence can prove innocence or guilt. her display of signs is a public nuisance is what some say. we spoke with the woman who says her freedom of speech is

being violated. >> reporter: a light rain fell this morning. ben spree at the scene took time to wipe down her sign. there are 14 of them. they have become a fixture here since 2010. >> having feel the signs i feel bad for her. seems she has quite a story to tell. >> reporter: it talks about god, the government abuse and conspiracy. they say it's not what's written on the sign, it's the space she is occupying. the city is suing her. >> they have no jurisdiction. >> reporter: i'm able to walk through her encampment but a complaint says that her property is blocking the public's right of way and they are concerned. >> it changes from day-to-day and from week to week. it does expand and contract. we have been there, officers have been there at times when it is larger and has not provided for public access. >> reporter: her camp is located at a busy intersection.

calls to buy ads from yelp. they even offering customers a 25% discount on pizzas for bad reviews. >> if you don't have a good friend they will bring the business down. they are using yelp for bringing it up or down. >> it might generate publicity with that. i know my personal experience with yelp is such a mass of interviews and stuff there it's kind of hard to pick through what you think is real and what isn't. >> the effort seems to be working. the restaurant already has lots of one star ratings. the company by tongue and cheek reviews and servers bothering customers when they are ready to order. a link states ad buyers do not get better reviews. the route is altering the

food landscape in california. at the farmers market in san francisco vendors have been forced to cut back to two days a week instead of threw due to smaller harvest due to drought. >> this year we are not going to grow them because there's not enough water. >> it includes lettuce and corn which require a lot of water. when those are not available chefs and cooks have to find other food. the prices of alternative vegetables and fruits are also going up. well, an unusual site this morning across the bay area. scattered light rain showers and pop up sprinkles early this thursday afternoon. still a few lingering clouds out there. this camera yesterday you can see the big smoke plume from the king fire. it might be the case today after the clouds clear out.

hazy sunshine and patchy morning fog. a very quiet weekend with no major heat in site. we have been tracking this told front and generated the showers here in the bay area especially the rainfall for the northern half of the region. as we head into basically this afternoon some scattered clouds there's a chance of a pop up shower but kind of a mixed bag of pop up shower as the system moves to the south. our forecast model at 4:00 generating partly cloudy skies. you'll notice as we head into evening hours still partly cloudy. not a lot of shower activity but still the chance for this afternoon and then tomorrow morning the low clouds and fog regroup first thing tomorrow morning and then we'll have partly to mostly sunny skies for friday afternoon. for this afternoon still pretty warm out there especially inland towards fairfield. oakland mid-70s. pacific is 70. the main shower event was early this morning. we'll hold onto that for this

the day after the federal reserve the labor department reports weekly applications for jobless benefits dropped after closing at a record high yesterday the dow is up again triple digits now up 103 at the record territory of 17,260. the nasdaq is up and up 8. before you upgrade your apple device you may want to listen to this. some users have complained about how long it takes to download ios 8 with reports of it takes up to an hour. an expert says unless there's a real need it's usually smarter to keep what you have while apple works out bugs in any new software. some iphone users agree. >> my works just fine.
