year police brought 2500 misdemeanor and felony domestic violence cases to the district attorney for review. prosecutors filed charges in 500 of them. 19%. in san francisco the district attorney reviewed 1600 cases and filed charges in 500 of them. 33%. san mateo a similar number of cases for review. they filed charges in 859 cases, 53%. >> do you wish you could prosecute more? >> we do. >> reporter: san francisco district attorney said more early intervention could save lives. >> there is hope that this maybe will not continue. it will stop. and then there is fear. >> district attorneys connected by 2 investigate confirm they don't offer the pretrial

diversion offered to former baltimore ravens running back ray rice. but advocates say there is more work to be done. >> i think there needs to be support that this is a learned behavior. people aren't born to use violence. >> reporter: in california probation for domestic violence includes a requirement that offenders attend a 52 week training program but even that isn't enough and there needs to be more follow up. eric rasmussen, ktvu channel 2 news. one of the nfl players accused of domestic violence is san francisco 49ers defensive tackle ray mcdonald and today san jose police released new information about a previous issue at their home. during an argument ray mcdonald's fiance pulled out ray mcdonald's gun and held it at her side. she didn't point the gun at anyone and put it away and left the home after ray mcdonald said he would call 911. no one was arrested. authorities announced they

have arrested a man accused of setting the king wildfire in el dorado county. it consumed 71,000 acres. right now it is only 5% contained. 2,000 homes are threatened and 1500 smaller structures are also in danger. and we are learning more tonight about the man arrested in connection with the fire. she identified as -- he is identified as wayne allen huntsman. ktvu's ann rubin pulled court documents today revealing the suspect's past criminal records and joins us now from san jose with what she learned. >> we went to some of wayne allen huntsman's priveious addresses -- previous addresses and though neighbors don't remember him, law enforcement does. he already had a warrant out for his arrest in santa cruz. that was for failure to appear in court.

we were able to pull paper work showing his convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft and auto theft and receipt of stolen property and now this. he is accused of starting the king fire that drove 2800 people from their home. he is held on $10 million bail. while authorities are releasing few details of the investigation -- [no audio]

tomorrow afternoon, live in san jose, ktvu channel 2 news r, ktvu channel 2 news. >> minutes ago we received an update on the fire. cal fire tells ktvu channel 2 news the boles fire in weed is 85% contained. officials say the flames damaged or destroyed 150 structures. many homes. they also tell us 5 firefighters are among those who lost their homes. in an hour cal fire plans to hold a community meeting at the cleche of the siskiyous. governor jerry brown declared a state of emergency. and we have more information and video on those wildfires just log on to www.ktvu.com and click on the top stories tab. most of us had a rainy start to the day as the first wet weather system of the season moved through the bay area. this is what it looked like this morning in oakland.

sunday after the break. tourists back from cabo san lucas are share nothing credible stories about what it was like after hurricane odile hit and how difficult it was to get back home. ktvu's john sasaki is live at sfo where he spoke with some of them. >> reporter: thousands of people have yet to get out. you can think of cabo san lucas like an island with the only easy way in and out by airplane but the airport has been devastated. >> reporter: everyone who arrived back to san francisco international airport from cabo san lucas is grateful. >> it is demolished. all the hotels in cabo san lucas are demolished. all the stores. the costo, walmart, luted. >> the hurricane was bad enough, destroying hotels, and causing flooding all over.

official in san diego who was trying to be reassuring. >> right now the mexican army, the federal police, and all the entities that are required for security are in place. >> reporter: officials said there were 20,000 tourists, most americans in cabo san lucas during the storm and 5,000 left by this fron. 5 at sfo, john sasaki, ktvu channel 2 news -- live at sfo, john sasaki, ktvu channel 2 news. police are looking for two armed robbers. investigators say two employees were closing a store when two men approached. one flashed a gun and forced the employees to open the doors. they got away with cash, alcohol and personal items from one of the employees. police don't have a description and no arrests have been made. leadership change is coming
