. good morning to you. starting you off with a quick look at your weather and rose mary, it was a nices day yesterday. >> it was so nice. mostly sunny skies and a lot of 70s yesterday. today, we're going to continue with the mild pattern, and i think we will have more in the way of clouds and i will show you why. first live look at the san francisco bay area. we have low clouds and high clouds joining us this morning and patchy fog reported along the coast. here's a look from another vantage point. plenty of cloud cover, and mix of sunshine and clouds. sun coming up right about now. we have 12 hours of daylight, and giving you a look at the system. it brought us rain on thursday. and you can see, not moving east too quickly. this is going to remain here for the next 12 horrors so. finally, it will kick east tonight until tomorrow. until then we will continue with the p wrap around

the businesses heavily damaged by the latest fire. the fire that happened at the building you're looking at is the last of 7 fires that occurred within a 7-block radius overnight. the first three were smaller fires x then at 1:30 this morning a fire spread to the building. no one was hurt but several residents were displaced. at 2:30, there was another fire that started outside the apartment building and also spread inside. this was on san antonio avenue. and two hours after that, around 4:00 this morning, the fire fighters got a call about a fire on several businesses on park street. that fire was the largest, and it damaged at least three businesses, including a dry cleaners that's been at the site for 30 years. no one was hurt in the last fire, but this has been a busy

night. oakland was called into help. the fire chief said all of these overnight fires were suspicious. >> the fact they were all external starts, all either in trash, under vehicles, and within such a small radius of each other, just made it more than just a coincidence, at least in our initial estimation. and thankfully, the police have been able to apprehend two suspects. >> again, here's the map of the 7-fires that happened within the 7-block radius overnight. four were smaller, exterm fires and garbage cans effected. two involved residential buildings. and the last one was a commercial building on park street, but at least three businesses heavily damaged or destroyed. the fire chief says police did arrest two people overnight on suspicion of arson. police and fire and the city

manager will talk more about this case at the news conference that is set to happen in about 30 minutes, and we will billion there of course and -- be there and bring you the latest updates on the show. >> new this morning, one person was killed and others critically injured in a head-on crash on highway 121 between ramal and napa road. one driver died at the scene, while the driver and passenger of the other vehicle were air lifted to hospitals, suffering from major injuries. >> it does appear that one of the vehicles according to a witness crossed over the double yellow lines and struck the other vehicle head-on. >> one person driving by who rushed into help, graduated emt training a few days ago. the chp doesn't know of alcohol or speed were factors. 121 both directions were shut

down overnight. 121 is one of the alternate routes drivers must take because of highway 37 closures. crews are expected to work tomorrow morning for maintenance. the highway is closed between both directions. highway patrol says alter gnat routes -- alternate routes have been backed up. the goal is to reopen by 5:00 tomorrow morning. they are repaving the roadway. more closures are scheduled overnight from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. drivers in the hospital this morning after slamming into a fence in concord. it happened before 3:30 this morning. fire fighters tweeted this photo of the scene. according to fire fighters, a family was sleeping inside the home at the time of the crash. they were not hurt but the driver had to be taken to the hospital. a deadly shooting just blocks from another shooting last month. officers say a man was gunned down around 920 tim tip last

night. police are not saying much about the shooting, which is less than a half mile where a man was gunned down last month. three men were arrested in that shooting. last night's homicide is the area's 29th homicide. and the east bay regional park district, a woman's body washed unon shore. -- up on shore. the woman's name has not been released but we do know she was 58 years old, and lived in american canyon. investigators says there doesn't appear to be evidence of foul play. engineers plan to check more than 400 steel rods for rust at the base of the bay bridge. crews discovered more than 3 dozen rods were sitting in pools of water. the rods in in steel sleeves that are supposed to be kept

dry. officials are trying to determine if any were damaged. golden gate ferry workers plan to go back to the bargain table tomorrow. on friday, captains went on a one day strike because they were not happy about the progress of labor negotiations and forced the 9,000 passengers to find other ways to travel between north bay and san francisco. the district is offering 9% raise over 3 years with increase in healthcare premiums. the unions want a 4% raise for each year of a 3-year contract with no increases in premiums. expect traffic delays if you're driving in san francisco. streets will be blocked off for the open world convention. it's expected to launch a cloud service at the convention which takes place at the three halls. the event begins this morning and will run through thursday. 60,000 people are expected to attend. long time ceo larry nelson is stepping down from the top spot

to become the top executive chairman. it is now been more than one month since napa and the surrounding communities were hit with the 6.0 earthquake. barbara and mike thompson pledged to help. it was estimated the quake caused more than $400 million in damage. >> a lot of people need help. they are really trying to get back into their homes, and they need help. >> president barack obama has declared napa county a federal disaster area, making the city and county eligible for funds designated for in. structure projects. local officials say they are trying to get federal help for homeowners and businesses. >> we feel the damage that we have seen qualifies for this assistance. >> a decision on whether or not federal aid will be extended to individuals and businesses could be made in the next few day weeks. -- few weeks.

there's a half marathon getting underway, and thousands are expected to attend a midday concert. at noon, michael spear head will line a concert at the fairgrounds, 3,000 people are expected to attend the sold-out event. it's cohosted by the producers. earthquake release party will be held at public market tonight at 6:00. there's no doubt the 49ers could use a win today but getting it will not be easy with 1 and 2 record and they are taking on 3 and 0 eagles this afternoon. the 49ers have not had trouble starting their game, but finishing is a different story. in the 2nd half of the first three games, they have scored a combined 3 points and giverring up 52. they are racking up with penalties leading the league with 36. >> i am going to play as hard as i always have and play hard

. friends and family of the late robin williams celebrated his life at a special tribute in san francisco. they watched music and video trents and listened to emotional speeches from billy crystal, and a few other hollywood stars who were close to him. williams committed suicide in his home last month. he was 63 years old. ferguson, missouri, a police officer was shot, he was patrolling alone in his car late at night. the officer got out of his car and chased after a man, and he got close and one of the suspects shot him. he was hit in the arm. investigators do not believe the shooting is connected with the michael brown shooting and protests. >> it didn't happen within the proximity of the protest area,

this is an area that's fairly secluded. and i wouldn't have any reason to believe right now that it was linked with the protests. >> the officer the return fire but it is not known if either suspect was wounded. both men are at large. the officer is in the hospital but injuries are not life threatening. president barack obama discussed the ramifications of the michael brown shooting during a speech last night in washington d. c. the shooting exposes a mistrust of law enforcement, and that surveys show a majority of americans think that criminal justice system does not treat people equally. >> it's not just blacks or asians or native americans saying things may not be fair. that's most americans. and that has a close effect. >> michael brown's parents were guests at last night's black

caucus scholarship fund raisers. several days ago, the ferguson police chief apologized and they rejected the apology and demanded the man that shot their son be arrested. a spokesman for oakland says there was "insufficient labor to successfully work the vessel." demonstrators gathered to protest. a union spokesman says there was safety concerns for workers and shoreman were blocked from driving into the terminal for the morning and evening shift. in the state of colorado, there's reports of 9 children at children's hospital showing symptoms of muscle weakness and loss of feeling in their arms or legs. of those 9 children, 4 of them test positive for virus 68. health officials say they are

. police in china busted multiple people trying to smuggle the new iphone into the country. we told you about folks buying up multiple phones here in america and selling them to people in china. this morning, chinese officials announced the seizure of more than 450 phones in shanghai, and 700 phones confiscated from passengers arriving in china. the iphone 6 and 6 plus are a hot item because they have yet to be approved by the chinese government. there's a new plan to deliver more than your mail by the postal service. the postal service asking permission to begin delivering groceries. it says the industry has lost a billion dollars in the last five years, and this could be a way to bring in some extra revenue. final analysis say they have the equipment to make it happen. but other people say the postal

and temperatures on the mild side. we will get into some warmer weather in the work week ahead. i have a look at the extended forecast coming up. in the east bay, several city fires were set. we are expecting to get an update at a news conference. >> reporter: that's right. i spoke with a lieutenant on the phone and the news conference that was scheduled for 7:30 is pushed back to 8:00. i have more information on the two people arrested overnight. police say they are 2 adult males and police describe the other as a transient. police believe these men are responsible for at least seven fired that happened overnight. the last one happened around 4:00 this morning this is on park street at lincoln. you can see the fire is now

out. fire fighters have pulled back the ladder trucks but there's a lot of visible damage out here. it started around 1:00 this morning. this first fire started in a dump administer. at 1:30, it was outside a building on region street and some spread and residents were displaced. at 2:30, there was another fire that started outside an apartment building and spread inside. this is on san antonio avenue. no one was hurt in the fire, but several residents were displaced. two hours later at 4:00 a.m., firefighters got a call at several businesses on park street, and that last fire was the largest. it damaged at least three businesses. no one was hurt in the fire either but the owner of the bright one-hour cleaners who has been doing business here for more than 30 years was devastated by the loss of his business. you will hear from him, followed by the fire chief.

streets. the escalade eventually crashed into a couple of weeks into the financial district. officers say he shot at good samaritans who were trying to pull him to safety. after failed attempts, several officers opened fire, and killing him. san francisco mayor ed lee may be the one in the hot seat in connection to city fire fighters calling for the chief. chronicle reports say he supports the fire chief. the pressure is on mayor lee to act since different fire fighting groups, such as minorities and women want her out. a new york city fire captain is awaiting extradition of california to face multiple child sex abuse charges. the incidents happened in september, in hollywood and involved two children. river are has been suspended where he worked as emergency

technician. los angeles police expect to take custody of him tomorrow. habitat for humanity volunteers are ready to tear down and rebuild three homes that were burned. the fire destroyed one home under construction, and damaged two others. about 90 volunteers are standing by to start the rebuilding process yesterday. but crews still have to wait for the fire department to give them the green light. organizers are disappointed by the delay but are staying positive. >> it's bad, but it's not as bad as it could be, given that we have 28 homes toppled, and only 3 of -- build, and only 3 were effected. >> i've gotten incredible e- mails from supporters who want to rebuild these affordable homes. >> the cause of the fire is under investigation. and we have posted a link with information on how you can donate to the cause on your website, at www.ktvu.com. fire fighters are batting the king fire, which is 84%

highway. on friday night, richardson and her teammates were in a bus on their way back from the away game when they were hit by a tractor trail. richardson was just 19 years old. >> she was funny. she was always laughing. her laugh was one of a kind. she was just a great friend. >> three of richardson's teammates also died. friends and family will hold a special service for them today. indiana state university is recovering this morning after being shot on campus. the shooting happened early last night in the stairwell of a residence hall. the shooter fled the scene but do not believe the public is at risk. the victim was the intended target of the attack, and believe it is suspect and the student who was shot knew each other and had been together earlier that day. no arrests have been made.

the victim is expected to make a full recovery. oklahoma police say they interviewed the man beheading a woman at his work place. police say they will not reveal what he said about thursday's attack, where he had just been fired. witnesses say he beheaded a 54- year-old woman with a knife, used at the plant, and then shot a 43-year-old woman several times before he was shot by a company executive. >> that's terrible. you know, you go to work and feel like you're some place safe. that's very surprising it's shocking to hear something like that, so close to home. a lot closer than what i thought. people who attended the same mosque, describing him as "odd and weird." he will be transferred from the hospital to a local jail in the next few days. u.s. military is releasing air

we have low clouds hugging up against the coastline. and a mix of mid and high level clouds over the inner east bay, and over most of the bay area. it has to do with the system that brought us the rain, brought us the thunderstorms earlier in the week. and it is taking its time, leaving california. and it's right on the western edge of nevada. and you can see for yourself, how the counterclockwise circulation continues to sends the clouds our way. in fact, some of the models are indicating the range may see buildup this afternoon. the clouds may be dropping a few sprinkles. for most of us, it will be partly cloudy and nice and mild. over the sierra, the clouds continue here as well. that is good news there. if you're stepping out in concord, 60-degrees for you. north bay, low 60s. 60 in napa.

live. >> reporter: we are waiting outside alameda fire station in the downtown area. and investigators are supposed to give us an update on the investigation into the suspicious fires. 7 happened overnight. you can see behind us things have not gotten started yesterday. we have seen alameda police and fire fighters getting ready for things to begin. alameda police arrested two men overnight on suspicion of arson. they are both adult males, one is a alameda resident and the other is a transient, who frequents is alameda and oakland areas. this is video of one of those fires. this is around 2:30 this morning on san antonio avenue. the fire started outside an apartment building. and spread inside. no one was hurt but several were displaced. there was another fire at a different apartment building that also displaced residents.

two hours later, fire fighters got a call at several businesses on park street in alameda. that fire was the last of the 7 fires and the largest. it damaged at least three businesses. no one was hurt but the owner of the bright one-hour cleaners who has been doing business for more than 30 years, was devastated on the loss. you will hear from him, followed by the fire chief. >> it was a nightmare. there's nothing i can say. for me, my life is over. >> they were all external starts, all either in trash, under vehicles, and within such a small radius of each other, made it more than a coincidence. >> here's a map of the 7 fires that happened within a 7-block radius in alameda overnight.

training a few days ago. the investigation shut down both directions of highway 121 for several hours overnight. 121 is one of the alternate routes north bay drivers must take this weekend because of highway 37 closures. construction crews are expect approximated to work on highway 37 tomorrow morning for maintenance. 37 is closed in both directions. the highway patrol says district detours have been backed up. the goal -- [audio inaudible]. they are repaving the roadway, and more closures are scheduled overnight monday through friday from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. it's been more than -- [audio inaudible]. surrounding communities were hit with the 6.0 earthquake. it is estimated that the quake caused more than $400 million in damage. >> a lot of people need help. a lot of people are trying to

get back into their homes, and they need help. >> president barack obama declared napa county a federal disaster area, making the city and county eligible for funds designated for infrastructure projects. >> we feel that the damage that we have seen qualifies for this assistance. >> a decision on whether or not federal aid will be extended to individuals and businesses could be made in the coming weeks. four day festival to raise money for earthquake victims rap wraps up -- wraps up in napa. thousands are expected to attend a midday concert along with the marathon. at noon, michael firemanny and spear head will head to the fairgrounds. 3,000 people are expected to attend the sold-out event. an afterparty will be held at

. welcome back. cal train engineers plan to check steel rod at the bay bridge for rust. they discovered 3 dozen rods have been sitting in pools of water. they are in steel sleeves that's suppose to be kept dry. officials are trying to determine whether any rods were damaged. even before this afternoon's game at levi stadium, the 49ers are getting home field advantage against the eagles. the fire alarm went off at the philadelphia eagles team hotel, at 2:00. which 49ers plan pulled the fire alarm, some eagles teams are are tweeting. the unbeaten have a 3 and 0 record. they have had trouble finishing off their opponents this season. 2nd half of the first 3 games,
