>> reporter: we are at 42 and 880. there is a damaged equipment box and skid marks here. plenty of evidence of a side shand there is a video that was shot at this location showing a car spinning out of control and into a crowd. >> reporter: this video was posted on a website and shows one car that loses control while spinning donuts and slams into spectators. it is not clear if there are injuries and the driver disappears before the video comes to an end. >> it has come back to the way it was 10 years ago. >> reporter: he represents the area and says a large side show saturday night could be heard outside his house. he called police. >> it was crazy. you got 100 vehicles revving their engines. >> reporter: police say they don't know this video is from the same side show saturday night and they had no reports

of injuries. he says opd needs to step up its game. >> i hope there is more creative thinking within the police department to help us to deal with it. >> reporter: they did provide this public service announcement it made. >> did you know participating in side shows or street races can result in your car being towed and you going to jail? >> reporter: mayor jean quan was not available for comment. >> the solution i am committed to is restoring the numbers in the police department and restoring the deployment to every neighborhood. >> reporter: like it or not side shows get a lot of attention. this video that was posted had almost 400,000 views in 24 hours. ken wayne, ktvu channel 2 news. police sent ktvu a statement. it says we take side show activity very seriously.

as we grow the department and increase our staffing we will be able to direct resources that could more effectively respond to and deter side show activity. oakland police are reviewing video of this weekend's side show. officers did respond and divert vehicles away. new information about a chase involving a carjacking suspect. the man led officers from richmond into san francisco's financial district where officers opened fire. that suspect was killed. now we are learning more about the final moments of that man's life. ktvu's noelle walker is live in san francisco where she attended a town hall meeting as new details where shared with the public. >> reporter: police used the noon lunch hour to host the meeting. the chase went through three counties before the officer

involved shooting in the financial district. >> we are very, very, very fortunate it happened when it did and not an hour later. >> reporter: police went through events from the chase to the crash to the moment when officers opened fire. police said they didn't know the car that crashed was the same one that was pursued because officers lost the vehicle and called off the chase before the crash. witnesses reported hearing multiple shots fired before police arrived. we know officers tried to talk to the suspect and talk him into dropping his weapon and six officers fired 32 rounds killing the suspect. >> officers were broadcasting the suspect was reaching for something. something down by his waist. less lethal was called to hopefully render the situation over without having to resort

talethal force however -- to lethal force however began to broadcast subject had a gun. >> i am confident our police officers did their very best to protect and serve us. >> reporter: he holds these town hall meetings to get the community as much information as we can. the officers involved are on paid administrative leave. noelle walker, ktvu channel 2 news. police inch mountain view said -- in mountain view said the death of a father and son happened because one committed suicide but the other death was an accident. a hazmat team found the bodies of lian liu and his 17-year-old son william liu inside their apartment on california street last wednesday. they also found chemicals that form a toxic gas. police haven't offered other details about what happened. the older man was the manager

of a market. four days of rain brought a new danger to the king fire east of sacramento. the threat of mudslide. there was slides this weekend but those areas have now been stabilized. dry, warm weather is in the forecast but the rainy season will bring more concerns where vegetation is gone. the king fire is 90% contained. two men are under arrest accused of setting a string of fires. firefighters responded to 7 suspicious 5 between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. yesterday morning, they were within a 7 block radius. no one was hurt but four families were displaced and five damages were damaged or -- businesses were damaged or destroyed. ktvu's allie rasmus has a look that surveillance video showing one of the crimes. >> you can see the after math of the largest of the fires. this is the back side of the

businesses and police believe the fire was deliberately set and the camera caught the act on video. >> man in a hot and white shirt walked to a dumpster. the man starts to walk away and brings into a sprint. >> there is smoke coming up. and now you have embers. >> reporter: the flames continue to grow below an apartment unit. >> we will see 4, 5 people here in a minute. >> they escape before the flameinize gulfed the building. -- flames engulfed the building. >> this helps. there is nothing like actually seeing somebody in the act. >> two men were arrested sunday morning and remain in jail. stephen petersen and andrew gutierrez. police believe andrew gutierrez is the man in the video. police went through stephen petersen's apartment yesterday

for evidence. andrew gutierrez doesn't appear to have a permanent home. police don't know what connection the men have and the motive. >> it is out of character. >> reporter: he has known stephen petersen for 7 years. he says he is a peaceful person and that he was just getting off work at 1:45 a.m. in the morning, an hour after the first fire started. >> he walks everywhere. and, you know, he works at the venues when he doesn't own a car. >> reporter: he believes his car was in the wrong place at the wrong time. >> reporter: we asked police about the alibi from stephen petersen's friends and he said while he can't go into details, he says his detectives have reason to believe the alibi is not legitimate. allie rasmus, ktvu channel 2 news. workers inside a san francisco high rise were forced to evacuate today when smoke

filled the 29th floor. happened about 11:15 a.m. at the shell building. people were ordered out of the building as firefighters search for the source of the smoke. crews determined it came from an over heated elevator order. changes could be coming to novato boulevard. a 12-year-old was riding her bike home from school two years ago when she was struck and killed by the driver of a suv. the driver was going 65 miles per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone. in a settlement the driver's employer and the city will pay the family $1.1 million. the city also agreed to evaluate the safety of the street. san francisco business celebrated by city leaders just become the target of thieves.

surveillance video caught two men shattering the window to the bicycle super store last night. they took two bikes but a minute later a third man is seen seizing a crime of opportunity and he steal as bike as well. one is a regular bicycle but the other two are electrical and require a special key to work. >> you've it use this and wand it over the screen. and then it turns the bike on. one of the bikes is useless without the key. so there is nothing you can do with the bike. >> the store owner received an award from mayor ed lee honoring his business and his contribution to the community. now the owner will try to redo the window so it is not so attempting to thieves -- a drop in the number of people arrested for marijuana

the walnut creek bomb squad was called in to detonate a device found near pittsburg high school. it was made up of road flairs with ammunition from a rifle. it was likely left behind by a former tenet who was evicted. oakland and richmond will receive grant money to help reduce violent crime part of a program that was announced today by the department of justice. chicago, detroit, new jersey and delaware were also
