authorities are now investigating. >> she absolutely did she bravery and some trust in her friends. in bringing this forward to have justice for her and for any other potential victims. >> reporter: police would not go into details about the assault other than it happened in his classroom and it happened more than once. they also would not say what grade the student is not in. the unified school district has details on the arrest. >> we acted as swiftly as we could and it is a top priority that our children be safe in our schools. >> reporter: lloyd has been a teacher for the school district for 13 years and oversaw the student newsletter. he thought sixth grade at nordstrom elementary. >> he was more like friendly, but more toward the girl.

>> reporter: shurley's father is a upset that she could have been assaulted. >> he's in a better place right now, that's a jail. >> reporter: the school will be offering counseling to students. his first court appearance is scheduled for tuesday. azenith smith, ktvu news. police in east palo alto are investigating a deadly shooting. the victim is a 19-year-old man. the shooting happened about 5:00 this evening in the front of a home on laurel avenue. family members say the 19-year- old was a student at san francisco state. they say he was going to visit his uncle and cousin but when he tried to go through a gate to go inside someone fired about 12 shots and at least one of them killed him. the relatives say the victim was a good kid with a part time

job at stanford. at this point the gunman hasn 't been caught. good samaritans helped rescue two people after their boat began to sink this evening near the golden gate bridge. it happened around 6:00. you can see the 20-foot boat just barely sticking out of the water. two people on board say they jumped into the ocean when it started to take on water. several boats near by came to their rescue. crews in one boat pushed them into the water before crews could arrive. it was a nail biter for san francisco fans but they pulled out a win. >> a 3-2 win in dc. >> reporter: how about that the giants win over the favored nats. it's their ninth straight postseason victory. the game featured great defensive plays and some

your ear pods. the suspects two asian teenagers, slight built in a light colored car. new developments tonight in the outbreak of efterovirus. the viral infection that's now spread in the bay area. today officials confirmed 16 cases statewide including four here in the bay area. the latest patient a child in san francisco. that's in addition to two cases in alameda county and one in solano county. ktvu's katie uthehs with information in this latest case and what you can do to stop the threat of that potentially serious virus katie. >> reporter: the goal is to spread the word before the virus. because there is no vaccination for enterovirusd68. children in san francisco's mountain lake park keep their eye on the soccer ball while parents watch for symptoms of entero virus d68.

about other cases involving paralysis say they're still investigating. participants we spoke with aren't taking any chances. >> it's scary, it's scary. and i'm going to go home and do an extra cleaning. >> reporter: and everyone can do their part by practicing proper hand washing. >> putting soap on it. >> reporter: enterovirus d68 was discovered in the late 1960s. the virus usually peaks in late summer, early fall. live in san francisco, katie utehs, ktvu. we have new information about meat balls found near a dog park in santa rosa. and it's good news for dog owners. today the solano police department say the four meat balls did not contain any poison. earlier this year several meat balls laced with poison were found in san francisco's twin

peaks neighborhood and the richmond district. unfortunately a datsun died after eating one of those meat balls. allegations of retaliation against engineer who is raised concerns about construction of the eastern span of the bay bridge. the highway pa -- patrol was in charge of the investigation. it began last in february after they raised questions about faulty welds and chinese contractors. the chp findings did not satisfy east bay state senator mark deselne. he said the history of the project shows quote, we still have a thorough examination. a small earthquake hit part of the weekend. the quake was centered after 4:00. don't be surprised if you didn't feel it. a quake of that size is not felt by most people.

typically not large enough to cause any damage. another day of hot weather throughout the bay area including just one record. rosemary orozco is joining us now. >> reporter: i think this is the hottest day of the heat spell that we've been experienced. 87degrees in pacifica this afternoon. 92 in downtown san francisco. 97 in santa rosa. upper 80s to low 90s. oakland checked in at 93 this afternoon. it's not on this map but sfo actually hit a record. the standing record was 94. so a new record at sfo. we do have an advisory once again for tomorrow. it is a heat advisory but notice here as i get in a little bit closer it does not include the coastline. so as we get into tomorrow, along the coast and in san francisco there is no heat advisory but it is going to be quite warm elsewhere. this is a sign of things to come. we do have a minor change
