chinatown. >> reporter: we're live in san jose where reckless behavior by bikers on a south bay freeway has been posted on social media. we'll tell you why the chp officer wasn't able to stop those bikers and what other drivers are saying about it. also, fears of terrorist connections to a deadly attack outside the parliament building in canada. we'll tell you what just happened one hour ago. the game at at&t tomorrow night. good morning. welcome, once again, to "mornings on 2." i'm tori campbell. >> the field looks good. >> it does. >> good morning. i'm dave clark. let's talk about weather and traffic. steve paulson has everything you need to know. a lot of clouds out there. not as cold. tomorrow looks to be very warm for game three. it's game four i'm concerned about. there is a front coming in. but it won't impact game three. i think it breezy and mild with 70-degree temperatures. we have rain up north from willits. so far nothing in sonoma county. doesn't mean it's not happening. but radar shows things are picking up. it is a sign of things to come here for the north bay today. south of that it will be a lot of clouds and not much else. the lows are up because the cloud cover and sunrise should

be beautiful again. a couple of filtering in. not as cold. 60s in areas 10 degrees cooler than this including alamo and san ramon. yesterday they were in the 40s. things have warmed up due to some of the cloud cover. there is a partial solar eclipse from 2:00 to 4:30. north you are out of luck. on the mild side with a lot of 70s. sal, i know we had a high-speed chase. i know that's been resolved. >> it's been resolved. we have a lot of slow traffic in some areas and a lot in others. let's go to "a lot" first. a 40-minute drive. you can see it there. it's especially heavy coming down to the toll plaza. we'll see traffic that's going to remain busy throughout the area. once you get on the bridge, there are no major problems on span. there was an earlier collision

on the incline section. that's been cleared off. but the traffic is not recovering just yet. let's move along to the commute in marin county. southbound 101 backed up out of highway 37 down towards central san rafael and after that it looks good to the golden gate bridge. back to the desk. all right, sal. at 7:04. the kansas city royals arrived in san francisco this morning after winning game 2 of the world series. they beat the giants last night, 7-2. the giants got off to an early 1-0 lead but then kansas city broke the game open with a big 6th inning. it included a two-run home run and then things got heated. strickland was yelling on the mound. kansas city players started to pour out from the bench. things got kind of testy. strickland said he was just mad at himself. kansas city won the game 7-2. we're told the giants, they will arrive back in san

francisco this afternoon. and when they do come back, their first stop will be at&t park. this morning, we've taken you inside the ballpark to get everything ready for the game tomorrow night. alex savidge is live. he has a great spot inside at&t park. you are able to show us the team may not be there yet but their gear it's there, right? >> reporter: yeah, dave. you know, there's lot of other people here. the players are not here inside at&t park. but it's not even a game day. take a look behind us. you see the hard-working men and women here at tea park busy cleaning up all of the thousands of seats here inside the ballpark to make sure they are all clean and ready to go for game 3 of the world series as it returns here to san francisco the third time in five seasons. of course, we know a thing or two about hosting a world series here in this city. the folks are hard at work this morning. the players will not arrive

back in town until later this afternoon. once they do get back here, they come straight to the ballpark for a practice session. let me show you the scene. we watched all of the players' equipment arrive in bags. of course, the giants looking to downs back from that tough lost in kansas city. they dropped that game to the royals. fans were feeling good early on, but things fell apart in the 6th inning. we are knotted up at a game apiece. giants are feeling good, three games mere at at&t park. friday, saturday, sunday. meantime, san francisco police, they are also preparing for all of the crowds in the bars and the restaurants and here near the ballpark and are warning fans to make sure they celebrate safely. >> let's show everybody how san francisco can light up and celebrate our team while at the same time nobody gets here and

nothing gets damaged. >> reporter: and the police chief also said there will be quite a few extra officers onhand here this weekend throughout the weekend, friday, saturday and sunday. that includes undercover officers, some of whom will be dressed up as kansas city royals' fans. this is something that we see folks police and other agencies doing -- san francisco police and other agencies doing. they will be dressed up in the opposing team to make sure everybody behaves themself and celebrate safely in the event the team is able to capture another championship which could happen as soon as sunday night. let's bring you out to a live picture. you can see the stage is set here at at&t park. the field is painted. the grass is cut. giants are glad to be back home in front of the home crowd. they are gonna feed off the energy for game 3. we're live this morning inside the ballpark inside san francisco,

alex savidge, ktvu channel 2 news. >> you are in a great spot. quick question, if you can hear me. does the -- >> reporter: if they would only let me hang out. >> if you can hear me -- >> reporter: until tomorrow. >> obviously, you can't hear me. i will talk to you later. >> reporter: the field is -- it looks fantastic. yes. >> oh, you can hear me. i was gonna ask you. >> reporter: yes. >> does the field look as good out there as it does to us on tv? >> reporter: i don't know if the camera does the field justice. it really does look fantastic. i came here in this morning and i think i just sort of admired it up close for a minute or two. the glass, it seems like each blade is perfectly cut. i don't know if they have someone come in and do it by hand. i don't know what the technique is. but it looks incredible. it looks absolutely incredible. you check out the paint job. they did this on the field painting the world series logo so the things are all set.

as we pointed out, the crew here at at&t park, this is not new to them, dave. they've done this before. >> that's right. >> reporter: this is old hat for them. it should be fun tomorrow night. >> you did a great job showing it to us. we'll talk to you later. alex savidge, thank you. we're learning that federal agents in kansas city seized counterfeit world series tickets worth thousands and thousands of dollars. homeland security agents nabbed more than 125 phony tickets just before game one tuesday night. the tickets had an estimated street value of almost $45,000. the agents also seized counterfeit world series t- shirts, sweatshirts, even baby clothes in several raids in that kansas city area. and don't forget, you can watch all of the world series games right here with us on ktvu channel 2. our coverage of game 3 starts at 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. we will be live at at&t park. first pitch, just after 5:00.

7:13. scary moments for a chp officer on a south bay freeway. ktvu's janine de la vega is live in san jose with the video that shows dozens of motorcycle riders basically taunting a police officer.

good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, tori. we showed this video to a man who rides a motorcycle and he says he also drag races cars, and he says what these bikers do in this video just ruins it for those who do follow the rules. he wishes they would have gotten caught. here's the video that was posted on youtube earlier this week. it shows a pack of bikers doing wheelies and speeding on 680 coming from milpitas and passing montague sproir, heading into san jose. the video shows a chp officer on a motorcycle trying to pull over some of the bikers but they ignore the siren and refuse to stop. they continue to do tricks and the officer, who is in the right lane, keeps trying to get them to pull over. at a certain point, the biker pulled up to the officer who tries to talk to him but no one pulled over, eventually the officer rides away and the

bikers wave goodbye. we showed the clip to people this morning to get their thoughts. >> it doesn't seem like he could do anything at all. he could have called backup. >> these days all of the departments are spread thin. i mean, when he's alone like that, not much what he can do. >> would have been nice to pull one over and put him in handcuffs. they have to start learning sometime. >> reporter: the video shows the group raising their fists after the officer leaves almost to show they were victorious and outpouring the officer. i just spoke with a chp spokesperson about a couple of minutes ago. he told me that they did look into that incident. they questioned that officer who reports that there was about 50 bikers on the freeway. again, clearly outnumbered. he ended up pulling over to the side of the freeway and calling for backup. but even when they caught up, it doesn't seem as if they were able to cite any of them.

reporting live from san jose, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >> the speeds they were going, obviously very dangerous. something the officer had to be careful about. thank you. 7:15. a vault in san jose that was locked and forgotten for almost 30 years has now been open. there it is. that vault was kept in the back of an opened orchard supply hardware store that closed down in may. for 27 years, the combination of the vault and what was inside was a mystery. inside were some artifacts including an old print ad, a rotary phone and blueprints for stores built years ago. >> we didn't know what we were gonna find. we were hoping it would be 200 million in gold bars. it wasn't but it was a great time capsule. >> those gold bars would have been nice. as to what will happen to these

treasures, some will probably go on a history wall at the osh corporate headquarters. a recall of cars with defectish air bags is being expanded. the ntsb has identified ten car manufacturers that used air bags made by the tekata company, including gm, honda and toyota. those air bags had the potential to spray passengers were metal fragments when they are deployed. the number of recalls being recalled. 7.8million. the agency says the car owners should act immediately to replace the air bags, especially people who live in humid climates. the recall affects many different makes and specific model years. we have more information at ktvu.com. there you will find the entire list of cars and model years affected by the air bag recall. so far under our hot topics, some car manufacturers are

advising passengers not to be in the front seat because of the dang erk of the air bag -- danger of the air bag until it's fixed. that leads us to sal. you are on the commute. you are on something right now, aren't you? >> i just always look at my screen. right before i go on the air, i look at the chp list just to make sure nothing has come in at that last second. sometimes we get accidents popping up. this is 24 westbound. i don't see a crash here. i do see a drive time that's a little bit higher than we normally see, by a few minutes on westbound 24. 13 minutes between pleasant hill road and the caldecott tunnel. as we look at the chp list, as i like to say, there's not a lot on it. right now, traffic continues to look okay getting to the bay bridge toll plaza. it's about a 20, 25-minute drive getting into san francisco with no major problems. let's talk about san jose and the south bay. northbound 101, 280 nd 85 are slow. we've had a couple of things on northbound 17. some mooner crashes coming downg to the valley. they are off to the side.

if you are drive on 17 down to the mountains down to los gatos, you will see an extra delay because of the earlier issues. 7:18. let's go to steve. the sunrise pics beginning to come in. if you send me a pic, that's great. but tell me where you are. they look great. but i'm like where are you? i believe joe johnson taking a spin around to show us the high clouds and another beautiful sunrise. i think yesterday was a little more spectacular. the sunset was pretty good. a little bit of fog out there. just a little bit. mostly cloudy skies. some rain to the north. 50s on the temperatures yesterday. you remember yesterday, it was cold at this time. we had 40s, not today. it's all 50s or low 60s. san francisco is in there. there is a lot going on. the system developing coming out of the gulf of alaska. it will get here saturday. it won't be here until then. it has a few days to go. a lot of cloud cover out in advance of it. it's going to come in and go right pack out of the picture. it's in here now.

some rain to the north, especially in mendocino county and points north where there's been some pretty good rain up towards arkay da, crescent city and honeydew had over an inch. some of that light rain making it into mendocino county, women lits. you can see some of that looks like it wants to get near ukiah. there is a little band from clearlake, windsor, calistoga. that looks to be the line, north. anything south of that would be light. north of that could be steady. 50s on the temperatures for almost everybody or 60s. a far cry from yesterday due to the cloud cover. we're up 10 degrees for some. 60 in belmont. los altos hills, 57. 55 up in tahoe. 45 for reno. 50s in redding. that's the cloud cover streaming in in vad advantage add -- in advance of that.

a partial solar eclipse from 2:00 to 4:30. the system rolls in on saturday. it will be cooler for all. it looks like we will get rain and wind. the file line shows us -- the tomb line shows us, watch how the -- the time line shows us -- watch how the clouds move out. there will be partly cloudy skies and then here comes the rain coming in early saturday morning. maybe even around 6:00 or 7:00 this morning. good rain to the north. between now and saturday, there's just not much here yet. it's trying. but it's going to take a while. mostly cloudy, light rain north. mendocino county, lake county, northern sonoma and maybe northern napa. mild to warm afternoon. farther north, cooler. a lot of cloud cover, patchy low clouds. 60s and 70s on the temperatures. mid-70s. tomorrow looks warmer. i went 80 in gilroy but would not be surprised to see 82 or 84. 60s and 70s. san francisco, 71. game 3 looks fine. it's game 4 i'm concerned about. that's when we might have rain in here.

money, and that's five times more than any other candidate in the water district's history. cremin registered the domain name in the early days of the internet. he also founded match.com but he's a founding investor and chairman of water smart, a local company that sells software to show residents how much water they are using compared to their neighbors. his o's and reform groups say this creates a potential conflict of interest. mark zuckerberg recently demonstrated he has more than just computer skills. he posted this video online of an appearance at a university in china. he spoke several phrases in mandarin. including he was happy to be in beijing. the billionaire ceo was in china for a talk on connecting the world to this digital age. he recently joined an advisory

his father says his son has been arrested outside of the white house before when he was bothering people saying he wanted to talk to the president. and you recall last month, another man jumped over the white house fence and actually got all of the way inside the white house. 7:27. a warning this morning about a new e-mail scam involving the ebola outbreak. cybersecurity companies say e- mails that appear to be from the world health organization like this one you see on the screen actually contain attachments that can give hackers access to your computers and all of the files on it. the e-mails contain advice on preventing the spread of motorcycle and other infectious -- of ebola and other infectious diseases. describers say you can protect yourself by never cligging on an attachment or e-mail from someone you never recognize. investigators are searching for the motive in the deadly shooting of an army reservist

that's good. if this is reaching the ground, i would be surprised. st. helena, calistoga it's there. that's a sign of where the forecast line will be. it looks like about santa rosa, callie zoe ga north -- calistoga north. 50s and 60s. 58 for some, including sunnyvale. san jose state's meteorology department as well. and fremont. these are 10 degrees warmer than yesterday. a lot of cloud cover the farther south you go. 70s the temperatures. it will be cooler in the north 60s and 70s. sal, i don't want to jinx it, but so far so good? it has not been too bad. we haven't had too many major cars. we'll start off with the east shore. it's almost an hour to drive between the carquinez bridge and the macarthur maze.

there was an earlier crash on the bay bridge. that slowed the metering lights down. i want to show you the bay bridge toll plaza. that crash was on the span. you can see cars are beginning to move through a little bit better but any crash, even a stalled vehicle on the bay bridge, usually leads to some pretty significant delays getting into san francisco. some people happen to think that thursday is one of the busiest traffic -- wednesday and thursday are the busiest traffic days of the week. i don't know if you agree with that. but today is a superbusy day. westbound 580 driving through livermore. 680 is slow. everywhere is slow. but we don't have any major crashes. that still means you will be waiting a lot in some of those major commutes. let's go back to the desk. a san francisco tour bus guide went on a bizarre racist tirade on what was her last day on the job and insulted the people of chinatown. tara moriarty joining us live now from chinatown where you have been getting reactions to all of this and that, too, is

surprising. good morning, tara. >> reporter: it certainly is. we found one woman who actually agreed with the woman on the rant, but yet another who said that the tour guide's musings were out of line and ignorant. >> okay. when you come to america, you gotta assimilate a little bit. here in america, we don't eat frogs. okay. that's chinatown. okay. [laughter] >> reporter: that's applause that you hear from folks on the bus. the woman on this video was shot by a tourist. she unleashed her fury toward chinatown and is taking swigs from a brown battle, presumably alcohol and bashes everything from the noise, to the laundry to the dragons. the reaction we received about her tirade was mixed. >> you always have a right to say what you have to say on your mind. whatever you have to say get it off. i think she basically said some

right things that somebody needed to say because if she didn't, who else was? >> everybody is entitled to her opinion. that's definitely hurtful. i'm filipino but i'm also asian descent. i don't tolerate ignorance, really, and for the people in that tour bus to clap for something like that, that's really -- i mean, it's unbelievable. >> reporter: tree id to track down the name of the tour bus company but were unsuccessful. the supervisor of the district wants annal.gy. he wants the -- apology. he wants the tour bus company to come forward and the tour guide. tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. >> all right, tara. thank you. oakland police are looking for suspects in a deadly shooting investigators say a 28- year-old woman was shot to death in the fruitvale district

around 3:30 this morning. no word yet of what led up to the shooting. the oakland tribune reports this killing was oakland's 66th homicide of the year. last year at this time, there were 79-s 79 homicides in the city. canada addressed the parliament after a gunman killed an army reservist. police say the shooter was a lone gunman. katie utehs is in the newsroom with what we've learned this morning about the gunman. good morning, katie. >> reporter: powerful scenes coming from canada this morning. people paying respects at the war memorial spontaneously broke into the country's national anthem. about a half-hour ago, the sergeant at arms who shot the gunman opened parliament to a standing ovation. [ applause ] >> you can see this is new video of the canadian parliament open for business this morning. the people you are seeing are the sale members who ran for

cover as a gunman opened fire within the halls. earlier this morning, the prime minister, stephen harper, and his wife, placed flowers at the war memorial where it started. investigators say a lone gunman, 23-year-old canadian morning, michael zehaf-bibeau, shot an army reservist in the back killing him. that army reservist was guarding the war memorial. the gunman then took off for the parliament building where he was then shot and killed. friends of 24-year-old corporal nathan cirillo, the army reservist shot and killed, are shocked by the senseless loss. >> i just didn't want to believe it. he was such an amazing person, aphasing father -- amazing father, amazing friend. he rescued dogs. he was just an awesome person. >> reporter: investigators are working to determine what motivated the attack and if michael zehaf-bibeau had terrorist connections. the prime minister says the violence has only united the country. >> when faced with attacks on

[ applause ] >> harper thanked president obama and other world leaders for the u.s. the fbi is being told to remain vigilant and there's additional security at arlington national cemetery. today the gunman's mother is speaking out. we'll have what she had to say in our next report. >> really shaken a lot of canadians north of the border. thank you. a chp officer in the east bay is reportedly accused of secretly sending nude photos of a dui suspect to his own phone. the contra costa times reports 35-year-old officer shawn harrington faces possible felony computer theft charges. investigators reportedly discovered he had forwarded himself explicit photos while booking a 23-year-old san ramon woman into jail in august. the fine-year chp veteran has

they cannot replicate. back here at home, controversy within the san jose police department. pam cook is in the studio to tell us what is at the center of this hot topic. >> the investigations will look into the ongoing dispute between mayor chuck reed and the police officers' union. the latest controversy involves a letter published in the mercury news by a police department recruit who says the police union president jim unland encouraged recruits to drop out. in the letter, the recruit says that unland showed them a poor show in the academy would demonstrate the reforms. he were told the more recruits we get, the worse it is for our cause because we're trying to show we can't get people in here. the president union president said he did not tell recruits to quit but he did inform them

seven minutes before 8:00. three teenaged girls from colorado are now back with their parents after they were detained at an airport in germany. reportedly on their way to syria to join islamic state militants. the girls are reportedly 15 and 17-year-old sisters from somalia and another 16-year-old girl from sudan. the three were reported missing by their families last friday. a search of their computers indicated they had been in contact with people associated with isis in syria. >> all of the indications that we have from the sources we're working with is they were most likely victims of online predators. >> the school says the girls

alex savidge joins us from the ballpark. >> reporter: good morning. found a nice seat here at at&t park. it will be a different story tomorrow night when they fire up game 3 at the ballpark. this place is gonna be packed with giants' fans. a sea of ork orange here -- a sea of orange here. the giants need a jolt after that loss in game 2 last night in kansas city. we're seeing a lot of hard work going on. of the crews are power washing all of the seats. we see the grounds crew out here as well. we saw them putting the finishing touches on the field this morning. the giants are expected to fly back home. then they will hold a practice session here at at&t. meantime earlier this morning. this was the scene as all of the players' equipment arrived on a truck. it was floeb out from kansas city and offloaded by a couple of workers this morning. it's all ready for the team when they get here. the field is ready to go.

the world series rushes to san francisco for the third time -- returns to san francisco for the third time. the team struggling as they dropped that game to kansas city. but they are hoping to bounce back in game three. the series tied at a game apiece. the giants host three games back here at home and despite that offensive outburst by the royals last night in the 6th inning, giants' fans say they still feel like their team is in a good spot. >> got a great team. kansas city has been on a great run. i think it's good level-setting wakeup calls. i'm pretty optimistic. >> reporter: starting tomorrow and all throughout the weekend, giants' fans will flood the city hoping their team might be able to win another championship. that's why san francisco police at the same time are also preparing for huge crowds across the city. after the giants won in 2010 and 2012, celebrations, some of

pepsi through the american bev ridge association. that measure on the november ballot would impose a 2 cents per ounce tax on sugary drinks in san francisco. berkeley also has a soda tax measure on the ballot as well. san francisco voters will also decide between two competing ballot measures on november 4th. they involve the turf and athletic fields near ocean beach. prop 8 would require san francisco to keep national grass on all athletic fields in golden gate park west of crossover drive. opponents of the measure came up with prop i. it would change the park code so that athletic fields, children's playgrounds, even walking trails can be upgraded. 8:08. a vault locked up and forgotten for almost 30 years has been opened in san jose. it had been tucked away in the

>> reporter: i just spoke with a police officer who said this officer was following a pack of about 50 bikers for about ten minutes and he had to make a decision on whether to keep pursuing these bikers based on safety. here is a video that was posted on youtube. it shows a pack of bikers, doing wheelies and standing on their seats on 680 from coming from milpitas and passing the expressway heading into san jose. the video shot on a helmet camera shows the chp officer in the right lane trying to pull over some of the bikers but they ignore his siren and refuse to stop. they continue to do stunts and at a certain point, the biker shooting the video pulled up to the officer who tries to talk to him but no one pulls over. eventually the officer rides away and the bikers wave goodbye. we show the clip to people this morning to get their thoughts.

>> one of these days they are probably gonna kill somebody on the road. i see them all of the time. they do this all of the time. it's -- i know it's just that little 1% of the riders out there doing it. like anything else, they ruin it for everybody. >> reporter: video shows the group raising their fists after the officers leaves almost to show they were victorious not getting tickets and being able to outpower the officer. the chp says what the video doesn't show is the officer pulling over and calling for backup. >> he was attempting to get additional units into position to assist him. he determined without backup, the situation was unsafe for him both from an officer's safety point of view as well as a motorist point of view. potential for him to be hurt. potential for additional members of the public who were traveling on the road to be hurt or the riders themselves.

safety administration points to ten carmakers that used air bags made by the tekata company in tokyo, including gm, honda and toyota. those air bags can possibly spray passengers with pieces of metal when they are deployed. right now, 7.8 million cars are being recalled. officials say car owners should act immediately to replace defective air bag, especially people who live in a humid climate. the recall affects many different makes and specific model years. we have more information on our ktvu website, ktvu.com. there you can see the entire list of cars and the model years affected by this air bag recall so far. it's under our hot topics section. apple is reporting a glitch with its new mobile payment system. bank of america said some customers were chaurled twice.

north. crescent city had 1.75. it's still raining a little bit of fog creeping back. that might be a sign of things to come more so for tomorrow than these high and mid-level cloud but making an appearance late in the season but a little bit of fog even though water temperatures are warm. the cloud cover that's over us now is going to eventually lift. you can actually see it. this system deepens out of the gulf of alaska. downstream you have to balance that out. that's what's happening. we have the cloud cover. it looks like the rain line is about ukiah to clearlake. there's a couple of reports of very light rain or sprinkles. it's trying over the russian river but other observer in cazadero said cloudy. no rain yet. if it's not raining in cazadero, they are usually one of the first. willits is getting rain. arcadia, eureka, getting rain. cloverdale over to parts of lake county, winder, santa rosa, sent helena, calistoga the but so far it's all cloud

minutes. thursday morning, october 23rd. i'm dave clark. we're talking about your weather and traffic as well. steve paulson has your forecast. we have mostly cloudy skies. even a little bit of fog kind of sneaking around a little bit. but overall, a mostly cloudy morning and much warmer this morning than we saw the last 24 hours. rain is up there mendocino county andlake county. you go farther up north, you can find more rain. closer to home, we can't. rain from point arena, fort bragg northward, willits, parts of lake county. but a little bit. a couple of reports around ukiah and clearlake. it's trying to in northern napa and sonoma county. it's hard pressed to do some. 50s and 60s on the temperatures. they have opinion stuck all morning due to the cloud cover. they are up 10, 15 degrees. we had a lot of 40s yesterday. that's not the case. we'll have a cloudy, mostly cloudy day. the system will start to wrap the cloud northward as we see a system off the coast on friday. that will give us a breezy,

warm day. today, 60s and 70s. some of these will be farther south. an update on the traffic, sal. i know there's been slow traffic. a lot of slow traffic. we're looking at 80 westbound. it will take almost an hour to drive from the carquinez bridge to the macarthur maze. you can see how bad it is. it will be pretty slow and remember, it takes about 15 to 16 minutes to do it when there's no traffic just to give you a gauge. let's go to the bay bridge toll plaza. traffic is going to be moving along okay at the toll plaza. there are no major problems. right now traffic continues to move okay on the bridge. now we can go to the south bay here and the traffic is moving along okay on some of the freeways when it -- it's slow but it's not affected by crashes but it's very slow especially on 280 and 101. it's pretty normal for this time of the morning on a thursday unfortunately. let's go back to the desk. >> all right, sal. thank you well, the ongoing

dispute between san jose and its police force now it's working its way into the mayor's race. pam cook is in the studio with the serious allegations and also pending investigations, pam. >> there are calls for investigations on both sides of a very heated debate between city leaders, including mayor chuck reed and san jose police. now, the latest chapter in this controversy involves a letter published in the san jose mercury news by a police department recruit who says the union president, jim unland, encouraged recruits to drop out. in the letter erk the recruit says unland told him the more recruits we get, the worse it is for the cause because we're trying to show we can't get people to work for the san jose police department. the police union president said he did not tell recruits to quit but he did inform them of police benefit. the allegation comes during a heated mayoral campaign. union-backed county supervisor dave cortese is running against

noise. >> the supervisor of this district says he wants an apology. he also wants the tourist bus company and the tour guide to come forward. >> 8:36. california is the only state in america that does not ban lane splitting by motorcycles. there is a new stuty that's reached a surprising conclusion. now, lane splitting, a motorcycle passes between slower moving traffic by cutting between lanes. uc berkeley researchers have found that poses no more danger than riding a motorcycle in general. however, they also found that lane splitting becomes more dangerous when a motorcycle outpaces traffic by more than ten miles an hour. a chp officer in the east bay reportedly is accused of secretly sending nude photos of a dui suspect to his own phone. the contra costa times reports 35-year veteran officer shawn harrington is facing possible felony computer theft charges.

let's take a look at what we have. i want to tell you that traffic is getting better. i'm not lying. you can see westbound just a little bit better trying to cross into san francisco. we had an earlier minor crash on the bridge that caused major delays. metering lights went down to way slow. 880 oakland, traffic is moving well in both directions, it's a little bit slow approaching high street. in san jose, the slowest traffic in the bay area now. 85, 280 and 101 are still superslow on the way into sunnyvale. tomorrow's weather, steve, tomorrow i will be out there. do i need to bring rain gear? >> no. sal, i will not be here tomorrow. i will watch you from home. >> good. can. >> i'm gonna be out there all day. i shouldn't bring a rain jacket? >> no. but saturday yes. how is that? tomorrow we'll have breezy and warm conditions. coastal fog might make its way back out there. a couple of sunbreaks. overall, temperatures were up, up, up, due to the cloud cover compared to the last two days,

two mornings. a lot of 40s. we do have a lot of cloud cover to the north. we've had beautiful sunrises and sunsets. yesterday and tonight, if the cloud cover sticks around, it sure looks like it will, we'll have a beautiful sunset. the heaviest rain will be to the north and it's just going to be hard pressed to get much farther south. about santa rosa, st. helena, calistoga, bodega bay, no reports of rain in that area. but reports to the north. 50s and 60s. 60 hayward. 61 in the city. i don't think they got below that. normal is 53. 50s up in the mountains. 58 ukiah. 59 sacramento. monterey, 58. redding 56. rain up to shasta. also near the bernie basin. they need the rain. for us, a lot of cloud cover. farther south, you might have a better opportunity to get a few sunbreaks. we're waiting on the system. light rain to the north and mostly cloudy.

a low will form. it will move farther north. we'll get some rain saturday morning. it looks like any rain. the cloud cover will start to lift out of the picture maybe later today. more likely tomorrow. some coastal fog is here. that will play into it. there's our system as it slides by saturday morning. noon it's up in the sierra nevada. a secondary piece comes in saturday afternoon, maybe into early sunday. rainfall will be good on the north coast. for us, just not a lot down to san jose .02. that's by saturday morning. there will be more. this will be a better system than we've had in the last seven days. mild to warm in the afternoon. temperatures, 60s and 70s. rain up to clearlake, ukiah. novato, san rafael. a little bit cooler than yesterday just due to the cloud cover. off to the east and the south. upper 70s to near 80. would not be surprised to see low 80s or upper 70s for some inland. it looks fine. maybe some fog. i'm going pretty warm here.
