series. good morning, everyone. , welcome back to mornings on 2, it is saturday october 24th, i'm mike me back. >> i'm in for claudine wong and we all woke up to it rain. we have something weatherwise to talk about. let's send it over to rosemary. >> i'm happy to report we're getting some rain tomorrow and we have a wind advisory to talk about. how about we take a look outside our doors. it's tough to see. rain is falling over the bay area and we have another 25 minutes or so before the official sunrise. once that sunrises we'll have partly to mostly cloudy skies. we have clouds back here, i expect we have a little drizzle, but in areas over napa

petaluma and sonoma and around the american canyon, we're getting rain. look at the peninsula we have a steady light rain falling over the coastline. we have rain right over san mateo over this time. crossing over the san mateo bridge is breezy this morning. we have san jose with light rain. saratoga you have rain going on as well. we'll do one last shift into the east bay where we have rains falling over into oakland and all the small communities in between. this is going to continue to push off to the south and to the east and you'll notice behind it we're getting a little bit of a break. once the steady rain moves through, scattered showers in the forecast, also a wind advisory. this will continue for the next several hours depending on where you're at. if you're over the coastline, it's noontime today, i'm seeing

gusts anywhere from 20 to 30 miles per hour at the coast. it's shifting in areas, from the weather, the national weather service out of sacramento. we have wind advisories for clearlake and the delta region. let's look at the temperatures for the world series before we go. we have the possibility of scattered showers and cooler temperatures. we'll have that coming up in just a moment. the fans are still believing this morning, october 25th, the 24th was a little earlier. it's been one of those weeks. the wins can change, but both teams have to contend with mother nature. christian is live at the at&t park. >> reporter: will the game be

ready for the world series. there is a big tarp out here over the infield to protect it from the rains we saw overnight. you can see the machinery being used to hold down the tarp and protect the infield so it should be dry and ready at game time. you might be able to see the grounds crews out here, getting the stadium and stands ready for the fans. last game was a major disappointment for the 3-2 loss for kansas city. i hope you love the giants. the lowest price we were able to find for standing room only tickets, $476. if you want to enjoy the game, that bumps up to $700 a ticket. ryan will be pitching today

running a giants world series trip this week. you can buy tickets online or at the at&t dug out store. the tickets are $11.50 each way. some are charging $150 to park close to the ballpark. some garages are charging $60 to $100. it's only $40 for a parking lot half a mile away. the normal rate is $10. a safety zone has been established for the kayaks and the bothers. there were a report of two kayaks that had capsized. two people were clinging to their kayaks. the water rescue team were able to pull the two people out of the water safely.

they'll have patrol officers monitoring the cove this weekend. you can watch the game right here on channel 2. our pregame starts at 2 p.m. and first pitch at 7:00 weather permitting. and we'll have the postgame show right through the ten o'clock news. two deaths in the sacramento area. two crosses have been put outside of the placer county sheriff's office along with flowers. it comes after a wild crime spree after danny roller tried to stop a suspicious vehicle in a motel parking lot. the suspect opened fire killing oliver and sped off attempted to take another driver shooting him in the head. and he shot two other drivers before going east of sacramento. he shot two deputies killing michael david davis junior before being taken into

custody. >> i think there are those people who would say, you know what, i wish you had killed him. that's not who we are. we are not him. >> officials say the suspect marcelo marquez is being treated at the hospital before being booked into jail. it marked the dead least day in law enforcement since february of last year. this is the tragedy for the family, michael david davis' father died exactly 26 years ago in the line of duty. he was killed in a helicopter crash while trying to capture drug smugglers. he leaves behind a wife and four children. there's a military campaign in syria, sean kneel died thursday from a noncombat related incident. further details have not been

made available. the 19-year-old soldier was from riverside. it's the first time a member of the military has died since the campaign against isis started in august. a south bay candidate from congress is scheduled to hole get out the vote comments. he's representing the 17th congressional district. that includes freemont sunnyvale and part of san jose. he's scheduled to meet today with supporters and cupertino and sunnyvale and santa clara. analysts say the race is a virtual tie. the department of elections at san francisco city hall says early voting will be available saturdays and sundays from 10 to 4 p.m. early voting hours will be available on week days from 8 to 5 p.m.

there's a whole community. you don't know how many people cared. >> there was a deadly school shooting in washington state. one student was killed and four others were seriously hurt after a high school student opened fire in marysville. the shooter jaylen fryberg was killed after he turned the gun on himself. the victims, two male teenagers who were cousins of fryberg and three teenage girls. a teacher is being hailed as a hero and stopping the rampage. >> she grabbed his arm and had his hands on him. this is her first year as a teacher and the shooter was a well-known family from the native american reservation. and he was on the high school football and was introduced as a prince in the homecoming

court. they're investigating the motive for the shooting. he had recently gotten into a fight over a girl and was suspend from a football student for beating up a student for a racial slur. >> i turned around and herd gunfire. >> it's heartbreaking to know. >> this is the second shooting in washington state this year. another one opened up at pacific university in june and killing one student and wounded two more there. one was cited for two fake handguns and they were found in the back pack. they did not have orange safety kids on the gun. the students reported the fake guns on campus. >> police are out of dublin after a car crashed into it. a driver pulled out of the

parking lot when she accidentally hit the gas pedal and went into the store. seven people were injured including the driver. officers don't believe alcohol played a role in that crash. this man is arrested for watching two young girls shower in a hotel. this was at a hotel in palo alto. the family said they saw the man watching their daughter shower through the window. he was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor peeping and a probation violation. two san jose police officers were accused of accepting free tickets from the 49ers. the san francisco chronical has reimbursed the team for people given to the assistant chief and deputy chief. both officers violated procedures. the department has been defending its response to the

49ers defensive lineman ray mcdonald. something we haven't seen in awhile is the rain as well as the wind. rosemary it was gusty coming across the bridge today. it's going to blow out of here before the game. but, it's kind of nice. >> we have to grin and bear it. we need the rain and we're getting some this morning. the entire bay area getting wet. it continues to march on. i'm going to show you the radar here in just a moment. let's look live outside over highway 4 where mike mentioned a little gusty out there. so, yes, be prepared for that. it could be blowing you around a little as we get through your saturday. here's a look at the radar. areas in the north bay are reporting anywhere from an inch to a quarter inch. half inch over south hell even a. this is moving from the south to the east. if i move over to parts of the north bay, things are starting

to dry out. there are two parts of this system. i'll show you that in a moment. let's look at what's happening in areas like napa vallejo and richmond, we have got rain over richmond, richmond and san raphael and the golden gate and bay bridge. there was rain at the at&t parka little earlier, but we're seeing rainfall over there. san jose you're seeing light rain. we have soccer fields, a little wet this morning, you may have delays and even cancellations in oakland. we have rain in the east bay shoreline. we have areas in pleasanton livermore and back it up here. this is the front, this is the stead yay rain that's moving through this morning. this is what will bring us the unstable weather for the second half of the afternoon. steady breezy conditions for the second half and partly cloudy and pop up showers that

could provide thunderstorm activity. this is 8:00 a.m. and it continues to move out. by 9:00 still in the east bay and down in the south bay by 10:00, we look mostly dry, and it looks like we're done. we're not. we have partly cloudy skies and sunshine out there by the afternoon. and 5:00 another round of pop up showers moving through. look at the bull's eye in san francisco. it's hard to protect if this is going to happen at 8:00. we have to leave in the possibility of scattered showers. you may want to bring an umbrella if you're going to be out at the game. or a rain jacket if you're out at the stands. temperatures are right now are in the upper 60s to low 70s and will remain in the 60s to 70s for most of us. during the game low 60s, with a

southerly breeze at 20 miles per hour. it will be a blustery day for most of us. giving you a look at the extended forecast, we'll dry out if we head out to saturday evening. we're dry for monday tuesday and wednesday. back to the desk. an investigation is under way after a series of colorful faces were found in utah, california oregon. a woman traveling across the west this summer may be responsible. she reportedly is documenting her artwork on instagram and tumblr. authorities say no charges have been filed but the vandalism could lead to felony charges. a japanese parts measure is expanding recall over exploding airbags. it's affected 8 million vehicles. the manufacturer says as the

issue gains more attention, it feels the need to expand the recall nationwide. four deaths and numerous injuries have been linked to the airbag. toyota, honda, nissan, subaru and ford. if you're planning on flying somewhere for the holidays now is the best time to buy the airplane tax. the lowest prices for airfares are found 8 weeks before the departure date. fares should be about 19% below the average price right now. sunday is the cheapest time to buy the tickets. the most interesting thing about that story we're 8 weeks away from the holiday. >> it's creeping up on us. mornings on 2, finally back home after recovering from the ebola virus. coming up, the emotional response from a woman in texas after she comes face-to-face with the president. >> it's kind of tough, i get to watch it here on the hospital

game 4 of the world series. what's it going to be like, will there be rain? >> it's going to be partly cloudy a little bit of sunshine and now a brief downpour. it's that type that will shape us up in this afternoon. it's a steady rain as it continues to march on. we're beginning to see a break now. this front that is bringing us the rain will continue south and east. we have light rain falling over the peninsula including at&t park, light rain and drizzle there. if we slide south a bit we'll continue to see in the south bay light stead yay rain across this area. the list goes on and on. let's go to the east bay. it's even a little bit of moderate rain falling over the bay bridge as you move over the berkeley oakland area.

it will taper off. we're actually going to see sunshine for the second half of the day. with that comes the unstable weather and the pop up showers and the possibility of thunderstorms and we'll be tracking that. also the wind advisory, we're tracking gusts at 25 to 30 miles per hour. the wind advisory lasts for the afternoon and our hills it will last into the afternoon as well. i'll track the system for you and show you what you can expect for game 4 of the world series in just a bit. still believing that the giants fans willant deed let up. ground crews at at&t park are protecting the park and christian is along the third base line. how is it looking this morning. >> reporter: hi guys, the count down clock is under way.

it's buzzing with activity. the big question on everybody's mind, the infield how did it weather last night's rain. it's tapped over right now. we can presume it's dry. we're hoping to get a peek sometime today. we don't know exactly what's under there. we think it's dry under there. the infield should be ready for game 4 of the world series tonight. meanwhile around the park, a buzz of activity, crews are getting the field and the stands ready for tonight's big game. major, major disappointment for giants fans with that 3-2 who is to kansas city. if you want to come out today's game, it's not too late. they have tickets available. they better love the san francisco giants. $476 and if you want to sit down and enjoy the game it bumps up to $600 for a single

ticket. the manager is confirming last night that ryan will be pitching today. madison bomb gardner will be moving up a day. the last two leads, they have not relink wished it in the series. they are hoping this is the trademark giants torture that we're used to. we're going to try to see if we can find some giants fans and get a sense of the fans and whether they're hopeful they can turn it around. hopefully they can swing the momentum back here to san francisco and get this series in the bag. let's hope that infield is dry there, christian, the outfield is a concern because it's not tapped. now, while the game 3 loss is disappointed, many say this series is far from over.

campus. the k-mart store in san leandro is closing. about 100 workers will lose their jobs. eligible employees will receive severance pay and have the opportunity to apply at other stores. they are closing some stores because of falling revenue. the u.s. postal service said the office is under contract. the postal service is not naming the potential pair of that building. the 100 year old building is put up in july and an attorney is filing a lawsuit to stop the sale. a five level parking garage, the garage will feature 8788 parking spaces, a bus terminal and a 2,000 square foot office for bart police. the planning commission has to

approve a tentative map that subdivides the site into four parcels. they're working on the project, he says he does not know when that map will be ready. former new york city mayor michael mayor is throwing his own money into the soda tax measure. it would have 1% tax on sugary drinks and not on drinks that are sugar-free. it would appear during the world series. the measure only needs a simple majority to pass. bloomberg the former mayor of new york tried and failed to ban oversized seeds in that city -- sodas in that city. >> the state will ban the sale of eggs by hence kept in small cages. six states filed an appeal of a federal judge's ruling upholding the ban.

and i was happy to welcome her to the white house and give her a big hug. >> i can't thank you for the support and love. >> she's looking forward to seeing her dog bentley. he's been held and quarantined to make sure he's not infected with ebola. a doctor is said to be in stable condition. physicians treating craig spencer said he's not out of the woods yet, but the chances of his condition worsening are limited. they're deciding whether he's a candidate for experimental treatments. both the states of new york and new jersey are enforcing a mandatory 21 day quarantine for those who have had contact with ebola infected patients in west africa. 10,000 have contracted it and half of them have died. they're examining the us

response to this epidemic. while nurse's unions are calling on the white house to step up procedures for health care workers. and the president obama, it is said they're stepping up efforts. >> we're serious about protecting america's security. the best way to do that is end the epidemic in west africa. >> they want a travel ban to prevent people from coming from west africa to the u.s. they are to be funneled from one of five airports. all five of the medical centers are ready to care for ebola patients, that includes sacramento, irvine and san diego. they've taken precautions to prepare for the disease, but the california association disagrees, they need more training and safety equipment. there are no confirmed ebola

cases in california. san diego county is investigating a deadly case of the west nile virus, a 78-year- old man is the first to die of the west nile virus. it's the first confirmed case this year. and more than 20 deaths have been reported statewide from the west nile virus. hannah graham was reported missing several weeks ago. after a night out with friends, jessie matthew junior was charged with the case. it may link him to a murder of a virginia tech student and he's linked to a sexual assault case in west virginia. a home grown terrorist attack, william said he's a

off to the south and the east. we're beginning to get a break right in here. let's shift into the east bay where the line of rain starts with the sacramento bay, i80, through vallejo, richmond all of the small communities, moving through oakland, san leandro light rain, and we're getting a bit of a break, we're shifting east as well. some areas into the concord area, san ramon, light sprinkles this morning, down into the south bay, sunnyvale, it's just very widespread. we're getting into in this morning. we have light rain falling over san mateo. it will be wet in addition to a little windy in there. we have a wind advisory so that to consider as well, if you're stepping out this morning, slick roads and gusty conditions. let's time this out, saturday 8:00 a.m., notice it's going to dry out here. this will continue to push through, by 9 and 10:00, the

peninsula getting a break, east bay shoreline getting a break. still a little rain by 11:00. we look good, we're not done. the second part of the system is the unstable air mass, it will bring the possibility of scattered showers. not a lot going on by rain showers. by 7:00, it's moving over the peninsula including over the at&t park. it doesn't mean we're going to see the scattered showers just by 7:00. we'll see brief heavy downpours in the second half of the day. take a look at how much rain has been reported. san francisco reported a tenth and oakland as well. 10 to miles per hour for most of us. it's awfully gusty in the hills and the coach. upper 50s to low 60s at game

saturday, october 25. >> good morning. i'm in for claudine, and we'll start with a look at the weather. a lot of fans are wondering, what's it going to be like at the game later today. >> a little soaking going on this morning, but it is going to breakaway to scattered showers. we'll be drying out, but the rain not completely gone, but not like what we've seen this morning. giving you a live look outside towards the golden gate bridge we're beginning to see breaks in the clouds, and i think we'll have sunshine for the afternoon, but when the cooler air and unstable air moves in, it's the sunshine that helps develop the thunderstorms for the second half. let's take a look at the satellite and radar, and again this continues to move through the north bay and parts of the peninsula now getting a break. we're seeing light to moderate rain along the line in here, so if we scoot a little closer, light to moderate rain falling over and shifting into portions

of the inner east bay in areas like dublin seeing light to moderate rain. now, the rate is about one third inch per hour, keeping in mind it's not staying put. it's marching through the area, and it's not going to hangover the bay area for an hour. this light to moderate rain through the east bay hills and into antioch and beginning to shift into brentwood. in addition to wet weather we have a wind advisory. wind gusts 25-35. for the coast it lasts to about noontime for the advisory, and in the hills until 3:00. the state will last through the evening hours. -- through the straits (correction). some areas already reporting about a half inch of rain. for the forecast this afternoon, when the giants

play, mix of sun and clouds, scattered showers with breezy conditions. if you were lucky enough to have tickets to tonight's game, you are encourage had to take public transit. it will be one of the busiest times today. they're going to have longer trains as well as extra event trains to handle the extra riders. large crowds expected there. there will be extra police officers throughout the system and train technicians on stand by to respond to any mechanical issues. another transit option is the golden gate ferry running a special ferry this weekend departing at 3:20 in the afternoon, and ferry tickets are not available at the golden gate ferry terminals, but you can buy them online or at the at&t dugout store. if you're driving to the game, bring a lot of cash with you.

some places are charging $150 to park close to the ballpark. prices slightly drop the further you get from at&t park, although emphasis on the word "slightly." some garages are charging 60- $100, and this is a bargain. it's only $40 at a parking lot a half mile away. however, the normal rate at the same lot is usually ten dollars. if you're hoping to go to tonight's game and still don't have tickets, it will cost you. the cheapest is standing-room only and $490. the prices are constantly changing, and if you want to go to game 5 tomorrow, tickets are $480 for the standing-room only tickets. if you already have your world series tickets, you might want to show them off online, but officials with stub hub say that's a bad idea because the bar code is nothing more than a

picture that can be copied and transferred to a number of fake tickets. stub hub recommends keeping those tickets to yourself as much as you might want to brag. two kayakers had to be rescued. the coast guard established a safety zone because of the many kayaks and boats for the world series. there was a report of two kayaks that cap sized, and two people were clinging to them. the water rescue team was able to pull those two people out of the water safely. the coast guard will have patrol boats monitoring the cove throughout the weekend. a programming reminder, watch game 4 right here on ktvu. first pitch set for 5:07, weather permitting, and we'll keep the conversation going with our post game show and then right through the 10:00 news. rosemary says there could be

showers later today. inside the ballpark, how is it looking out there? >> of course the big question for every baseball fan is how the weather will impact the world series game. let's take a look at the tarp covering the ballpark here at at&t park. we spoke with the groundskeeper, and at this point they might be close to done pushing the water off the tarp here and might be pulling it off a little later on to take a look at the in field. we also spoke with another groundskeeper earlier, and he said they heard there will be clear skies by noon. by game time fans should be able to tell that it rained, but not much because the water is getting off the infield. the big thing that we've been checking online for tonight's game, if you don't have tickets you're not necessarily out of

parking lot. the suspect opened fire killing oliver and sped off and attempted to steal another vehicle, shooting the driver in the head when he refused to give up his keys. the suspect then carjacked other drivers before fleeing to auburn. the suspect shot two additional deputies killing michael davis junior before finally being taken into custody. >> i think there's those people that would say, you know what, i wish he had killed him. that's not who we are. we're not him. >> officials say the suspect is being treated at a hospital before being booked into jail. the shooting marks the deadliest day for california law enforcement since february of last year. the governor released a statement after the shooting saying, "the brutal murders of the sheriffs deputies are a tragic reminder of the sacrifices we demand of our

. one student was killed and another seriously hurt after a student opened fire in a school cafeteria. authorities have recovered a 40 caliber handgun at the school. it's believed this was the weapon used in the attack. officials say the victims are two male teenagers who were cousins of the shooter. a teacher is being hailed as a hero for grabbing his arms and stopping the rampage. >> she grabbed his arm and stopped him. >> this is her first year as a teacher. a cafeteria worker also attempted to stop the shooter.

. an investigation underway after two san jose police officers were accused of accepting free tickets from the 49ers. the chronicle says the department has since reimbursed the team for tickets given to an assistant chief and deputy chief. police say both officers violated city regulations that prohibit workers from septembering tickets to professional sporting events. the controversy comes as the department has been defending its response to an august domestic violence call at the home of ray mcdonald. you can find world series as the usual spots, bars and homes across the bay area, but now it's spread to the children's hospital. >> i like posy because when i played baseball when i was

we have actually a shot at a little sunshine out there this morning. a mix of sun and clouds. interestingly enough, it's the sun that will add to the instability for the afternoon. that's why we're leaving the possibility of scattered showers and even the risk of a thunderstorm. let's get to the rainfall totals thus far. we've seen anywhere from a half- inch to three quarters of an inch. take a look at the santa cruz mountains reporting three quarters of an inch. that's kind of impressive. i like to see that. this line of rain is actually still falling here, so i'm sure we'll accumulate a little bit more. anywhere from a little bit to a little more. mostly cloudy and plenty of rain still falling over parts

of the south bay and into the east bay. let's take a look at where it is this moment. moderate rain falling at livermore so a slick commute through there. we have just a little rain still pointing towards the south bay into san jose and over the santa cruz mountains. the front sweeping through this morning is where we get the steady rain. this is what is still to come. you can see the circulation going on. this is not going to move into the bay area. it's going to continue to move towards the east. we still have the cooler unstable air mass that will be over northern california for the second half of the afternoon, and again when it mixes with the sunshine, the two air massesbegin to collide and brings on the possibility of thunderstorms. we're shifting with the rain. we look pretty good for the second half of the morning and into the afternoon, but look at what's to come. we still have scattered showers especially over the north bay. it's going to stop at 5:00. game 4 of the world series, mainly dry. as we roll into 7:00, a few
