the game. >> it was an awesome experience, being able to be out there for the last out in the world series. >> the giants star pitcher, madison bumgarner came in and took over. he pitched the last five innings, shutting down the kansas city royals for a 3-2 victory. ♪ [ music ] >> and then it was time to party, starting with the champagne shower right there in the locker room for the world champion san francisco giants. boy the giants got it done on the biggest stage, the biggest game of all, madison bumgarner is the world series mvp. hello again, everyone. i'm frank somerville. >> i'm julie haener. it looks like san francisco is going to host the parade on friday. welcome back to our world series coverage. these are live pictures now from king street outside of at&t park. thousands of fans gathered in restaurants, bars, to watch the game, and when it was over, they spilled out into the streets to celebrate. other fans, appear to have headed to the ballpark after

watching the game to join the festivities. >> news chopper 2 caught these pictures of thousands of people on market street. some as you can see there had surrounded a couple of muni buses. we saw some folks jumping on and off of the buses. the top of the buses. these pictures were taken just about 30 minutes ago on market and 5th. police are out there in force, trying to prevent any violence from breaking out. they are rerouteing traffic to direct it away from that part of market street. >> we also have news chopper 2 live above san francisco's mission district. fans have taken over this area surrounding mission and 22nd. we watched them start small bonfires in the area, it looks like they're out now. we saw fans pouring into the streets. most of the celebration has been peaceful tonight. but we have had some reports that people in the crowd were

throwing bottles at the police. gunfire hit one person in the arm. before we check in with all of our bay area reporters, we want to go to kauffman stadium in kansas city. >> or sports director, mark ibanez has been there all night. he's on the field. what was the moment that stood out for the most for you tonight. >> reporter: without question, the final out. because i've never personally experienced, and i think i speak for a lot of giants fans, that acute sense of tension and nervousness when it comes in regard to a baseball game. it seemed like things were in hand. then alex gordon with the shot, first, early in the game, jeremy a affeldt came on to settle things down. did he get a defensive effort from joe panik starting a double play. there you go. the giants were in business as

he shut the door. then michael morse didn't overpower the ball to right field, but he drives in the go ahead run, and pablo sandoval had himself a night in what might be his last game. here is the last out. alex gordon at third base, two outs. all the pressure in the world. salvador perez with a pop up, and bruce bochy said that his pitcher madison bumgarner completely out of gas at that point. working totally on adrenalin, but the giants secure the world series right there. a happy bunch of guys. here's some of what manager bruce bochy had to say after the game. >> they continue to just amaze you. they were relentless. but you know, like i said, i'm numb through all of this. this team went through a lot

in the studio. i had to grab him, he was right here. >> he is so steady. never too high, never too low. let's compare this team to the former world championship teams. what's the difference between them? >> reporter: right, i think the biggest difference between 2010 and 2012 was all about pitching for san francisco. you had tim lincecum, a cy young award caliber titcher, -- pitcher, he was at the top of his game. if you can believe it madison bumgarner was the number 3 guy in the rotation. in 2010, he was just a rookie. this year, it was kind of scraping together a starting rotation to keep them in ballgames after madison bumgarner. it was kind of like madison bumgarner, and then you don't know what's going to happen after that. i think you saw a perfect example of that with the way

jake peavy pitched, and then tim hudson. it just wasn't the same level. that's the truth. they went from a stellar starting rotation, to holding it together with band aids, and getting the ball in madison's hands again. >> and they did it. mark ibanez together at the k the giants are world champs. >> continuing to soak it up. thousands of people packed civic center to watch tonight's game. this was the view, when bumgarner entered the game. you can see the plaza appeared to have an orange glow. she joins us now with more on the celebration. jana. >> reporter: julie, it was absolutely amazing being here. the fans have moved on. we were right here with the people in the front row, in front of that jumbo screen at that moment when they knew they got the world series title, the feeling was electric. at that one point, literally to everyone's surprise, sparks did

there was no better place to be tonight. reporting live from san francisco. jana katsuyama, ktvu news. now to ktvu's amber lee, she is in the mission. we've been showing the shots. amber, you're a bit up the street at 24th and mission. >> reporter: you can see these motorcycle officers just arrived here just a few minutes ago, a large group of officers on foot put on riot gear, and walked up the street presumably toward 22nd street. the crowd is getting larger and larger. it's just been crazy. people have been yelling, can'ting. fireworks have been going off. it appears people want to celebrate freestyle on the streets, and the party started as soon as the game ended.

they're responding to, i will bring it to you. reporting live in the mission, amber lee, ktvu, channel 2 news. >> ktvu's john sasaki is live outside near at&t park for us. hundreds of fans gathered there too to celebrate, how is it going from where you are? >> reporter: this is without a doubt a party. there's a gentleman across the street, in fact, two gentlemen now across the street being arrested by police. not clear what's going on in those situations. you can see a lot of the alcohol that's been confiscated from all of these people here, when they're drinking their beers, their champagne. even just shaking up the champagne and spraying it, that's being taken away, or confiscated entirely. live outside the ballpark here, you can see some fire here in the middle. there are bonfires out here as have been for a couple of hours now.

also, we've seen some professional grade fireworks going off. but what's even worse, is some of those fireworks have been set off on the ground. no telling whether everyone has been hurt. it doesn't appear as they were. as we can see in front, these people are thrilled that their giants won the world series for the third time in the past five seasons. so this is a very jovial attitude out here. the police out there with the riot gear in case things get out of and. they are backing up a bit as well. so things are definitely a party, but there is an aggressive nature to this party right now. the police did tell us, we might have to move for our own safety. i do want to show you one last thing, if we can back up. this is the t-shirt that is now on sale in the dugout. it says world series champions,

francisco. it will be happening on friday, the day after tomorrow. the mayor's office says the parade will start at noon on friday at stewart and market. it will go up market street and then wind up at civic center plaza. you will recall in 2012, about a million people turned out for the celebration. members of the team took part in a tinker tape parade, and showed off their hardware in a huge celebration outside city hall. we actually got this photo of the floats being painted. you can see lots of orange and black, and the sugar skull that's become a popular scene for the team, especially around this time of the year. the parade of course is going to be on halloween day this friday. a change in our weather though could possibly bring some rain during that parade. >> we want to check on that.

chief bill martin is bringing the forecast. >> we've got rain, we've got halloween. a lot going on outside. big changes in the weather forecast as we go towards the end of the week here. these are the highs from today. this is as warm as it's going to get, not just for this week, but maybe for the year. i think these are the last mid- 80s, we're going to see. we're coming up on november. as this weather system begins to move in, you can see a few showers working their way towards the north. those showers are going to start to work their way south as we go into thursday night, and friday morning. right now, we've got fog sitting just offshore. that's going to push into the beach tomorrow. in response to this frontal system that gets in here. so current temperatures right now are in the 60s. upper 50s. overnight lows, are going to be kind of on the cool side. mid-40s and upper 40s. that's your bay area thursday forecast. temperatures slightly cooler

an east bay t-shirt maker is busy tonight, ready to start printing world series championship shirts literally as the giants won. they look pretty busy behind you. >> reporter: yes, they are very busy. you saw the san francisco giants players wearing the official t-shirts. here is what they were wearing. is it says sf world series champions, orange october. about two dozen employees are here at studio 1204. they'll be working well into the night, creating these shirts. 20,000 shirts ready for tomorrow, and will be working until 9:00 a.m. that is 12 hours. i want to bring in waiverly sexton. you're a super fan, and you saw willie mays play. >> that's correct. i was around 10 years old. i used to drink my milk and there's a schedule on the milk carton, i would cut it on, and go to the games. it used to cost 25 cents, or 50

a surgeon from stanford is one of the first to comply with the new state rules. he recently returned from liberia. san mateo health officials tell us, this is purely precautionary, and dr. bucks has no symptoms. must take his temperature and communicate with safe twice a day. he cannot go to work for that 21 days alone. now facing similar quarantine when returning to california. ktvu talked to a sacramento doctor who is in sierra leone. >> reporter: california today imposed a mandatory quarantine on a case by case basis for any

worker who is returning after treating ebola. stanford surgeon colin bucks appears to be the first to be isolated under this new policy. he returned friday from liberia, and now cannot have contact with others for 21 days. in west africa today, while world cases are down, doctors say in cities, ebola remains an out of control wildfire. >> we're still on the increase. so this is still, the fire is burning hotter and hotter actually. >> reporter: sacramento kaiser doctor spoke to me and sent these pictures where he is organizing ebola efforts. in two weeks, he comes home to that mandatory quarantine. >> i'm not that concerned about it for now. >> reporter: he is familiar with the quarantine controversy, but declined to comment, saying he is focused now on his hard work ahead, which is to stop this epidemic.

outside of at&t park. thousands of people still set braille -- celebrating out in the streets tonight. police officers have been confiscating and pouring out bottles of beer and champagne. they had to move for security reasons, but john did show us, there's a strong police presence in the area watching the crowd trying to keep everything from getting violent. again, a lot of people still out celebrating in the street here at 3rd and king streets. ktvu's noel walker joins us now in a different part of san francisco. now everyone can exhale, and she joins us live with what it's looking like from there. >> reporter: i think some of the police officers you talked to left here about a half hour ago and went toy john is. it's a little bit lonely here. they're already cleaning up. no sign if there was a party here, even up to an hour ago, when i was enjoying game 7 with

having sex with a girl under his care. investigators say the girl came forward to tell them about the relationship. padilla worked as a social worker for eight years and had as many as two dozen people under his karat any time. >> take the allegation very seriously. our investigators looked into it, and unfortunately, they did in fact find a lot of truth. they found a lot of evidence to substantiate the claims. >> the head of san mateo county's human services agency said padilla had already been suspended for similar accusations. deputies from another county launched an investigation back in july. he has not been arrested in conclusion with that investigation. a man who was wanted in connection with a road rage shooting that killed a mother of four children in oakland last sunday was arrested late today in sacramento county. oakland police, elk grove police and the chp surrounded a home in elk grove. neighbors were told to stay inside, while officers took the barricaded suspect into

custody. the arrest comes four days after the shooting, which happened on 98th avenue in east oakland, the victim was 30-year- old pearl avina. she and her husband were coming back from the grocery store, getting ready to watch the raiders game, when someone opened fire on their car, following some sort of confrontation. oakland police plan to release more information at a briefing tomorrow morning. a motorcyclist was hit by a car, and rode hanging onto the hood for about a mile this afternoon. it happened at 42nd and international boulevard in oakland. police say the rider stayed on the hood until 35th and oakville. you could see the motorcycle still in the street. the biker was taken to the hospital. no word on his condition. our latest ktvu field poll before next tuesday's eye election shows jerry brown has a strong lead in the race for governor. the polls show brown is favored by 54% of voters, and that his support is broad based across a wide range of different groups.

of 60s. here's the parade story. 62degrees. chance showers, parade is noon on friday. here's the parade route on market street. showers in the forecast. you've got to bring an umbrella if you're coming to this thing, or a pawn show. showers all around us. heaviest rain will have occurred in the morning, then there will be those scattered showers around noon time that will linger. by the afternoon commute, maybe a few more scattered showers. today turned out to be a nice day. tomorrow not a bad day, but slightly cooler. this high goes on friday, parade day, halloween, and this low pressure system kicks in. >> a nice looking weather system. now we're going to get one that's got some legs. not a huge storm, but it's going to get us maybe a quarter inch. maybe a half inch of rain in some places. that's more than we've been seeing for most of these systems. this is going to change. timing on this thing. we know tomorrow it's going to be slightly cooler, and a few clouds. here we are 7:00 tomorrow night. start to see the moisture in

front of this weather system. so a little bit of drizzle shows up tomorrow night, but not much. friday at 5:00 a.m. raining hard in ukiah. 5:00a.m., 6:00 a.m., now you're at 10:00 a.m. right? so 6 to 7 to 8 to 9 until about mid-morning, you've got rain showers falling in the north bay with scattered showers south. so your morning commute is wet. about time of the parade, it starts to clear out, and looks like it wants to stay clear for the afternoon commute, but the roads will be wet, and this unsettled system will remain in the area. what i would do is prepare for scattered showers. main rain is in the morning on friday, but prepare for scattered showers after that. we'll dial this thing in big time for tomorrow and friday. that's for friday at 5:00 p.m. then it goes into the mountains and drops some snow. definitely something to pay attention to. winter storm watch there be in effect in those areas.

game in the world series. giants and royals would both have to scratch for every run in this one. the giants broke free for three runs. the giants had the bases loaded with nobody outs. in front of belt, michael morse drove in one run with a sacrifice fly. with runner at the corners, brandon crawford gets the job done. the royals tied it with two in their half of the 2nd. then in the 3rd, off reliever herrera. morse muscles a hit to right. sandoval had three hits in all. the giants had a tenuous 3-2 lead. jeremy affeldt got the ball to madison bumgarner. bumgarner walked out of a jam in the 5th, striking out lorenzo cain. bumgarner would go 5 shutout innings on two days rest. a little drama in the 9th, with the tieing run at 3rd with two

outs. he gets salvador perez to foul out to sandoval, who fittingly made the final catch in what giants hope was not his final game in a san francisco uniform. the giants defied the visiting team odds in world series game 7's. the giants franchise with a total of 8 world championships. second in the national league to the st. louis cardinals who have 11. what a run it has been for this group. probably the most unlikely when you think about the way the giants were playing in parts of june, july, and august. mark ibanez joins us one more time in kansas city. this will always be known as the madison bumgarner world series. the guy really is something special. >> reporter: no question about that joe. i think this world series, undoubtably the most special. that's the main sense i got in the clubhouse, because it was so hard to obtain. you talked about the slumps in june and july. but check out the heart palpitating moment with two outs in the bottom of the 9th

inning, when alex gordon loops one to center. greger blanco has the ball bounce by him to the wall. when perez has trouble picking it up out there, the giants very lucky he only made it to third. then bumgarner settles down, nerve rackingly getting salvador perez to pop to pablo. that ended it. and the giants victorious and madison bumgarner, talks about the moment when he became an ultimate world series hero. >> you know, there wasn't really a whole lot of talk. you know, i was just ready. i knew probably if something happened early, there was probably a lot better chance of me getting in there. it did, and we got the bullpen ready. after that, time to prepare to go in there. it was as good as it gets. world series game 7. that's a pretty stressful one at the
