12:01 pm
bruce bochy with the 2014 world series trophy. >> that's kind of like the encore you know. the band plays and then you bring out the best songs? how about bruce bochy. 100% headed for the hall of fame as a major league manager. he has led the giants to three world series titles and also in his days managing the san diego padres brought them to the world series, he's a no doubt about her now. >> i was watching when you interviewed him. he's a big guy isn't he? >> he's huge, he's huge. he's tied now with the great john mcgraw. legendary manager. three world series titles. and -- it doesn't get much better than that. but yeah, he's a huge guy and a commanding presence. and -- no question about it. >> what? who's that wolverine? >> i guess so. rocking to some beat there. >> his own beat. i think. >> okay. let's go back to sal and gasia at civic center plaza. sal did you hear what i was saying a moment ago about the
12:02 pm
12:03 pm
>> reporter: you weren't born in 69. >> reporter: no. i wasn't there. >> reporter: you guys, one thing i noticed sitting here is the whole section of vips sitting next to us, i'll get up and find out who are the people who get to sit here and watch it from up close. yeah. they have great seats. i have a feeling there's a story of the people who have this close right there that they some how connected to the giants, maybe long time fan, maybe people who were with the team since 58. >> i was curious, someone told us meal coo has been tweeting. have you seen any of them? >> reporter: i will go looking. we'll toss it back to you guys. i'll see if i can find steve perry and report back to you.
12:04 pm
>> you mentioned some of the vip's that will be at the parade today. i think it's significant you mentioned barry bonds. he coached in spring training for a week or so, gave out batting tips. he was missing from the first couple of parades. i think he is now back with the giant organization. that's worth mentioning, barry will be in the parade. >> the one name i haven't found is willie mcuvey. >> no way he could make it out there. i don't throughst bigger giants fan, no question about it. he was out for one of the world series games. with his health issues right now there's no way that he would be out there and able to do it. you can bet he is a huge
12:05 pm
presence and every giant anybody who has anything to do with the organization knows what's up with him. his heart is with the giants. >> that's the first i think about willie mays and willie mcuvey. >> yeah. >> this is fun. >> i alms keep wondering, what does he have for us this time? >> he put the pressure on him. >> reporter: no pressure but i am excited. behind me we are looking at the clock. it's about five after noon here. lots of anticipation. i would say no there. they are at least 12, 15 deep here. some folks climbing trees. this guy up there has orange
12:06 pm
hair. i don't know if he died that or if it's natural. a lot of people putting up the 3s for 3 rings. i showed you the ferry building behind me. san francisco police and their horses leading the way for this. we sue lucille. he arrived on scene. you have some of the giant employees also lined up right there. they have been there for a good hour waiting. they got off some of those buses. they made a little contraption up here a little bit ago. [ cheers and applause ] >> reporter: i'm asking people their most memorable moments.
12:07 pm
>> we love them. we love them. [ cheers and applause ] >> reporter: i have been asking people, that's one of my favorite moments was seeing madison bumgarner coming out during game seven. he looked like he was ready for a gunfight. that face, we knew it was a cowboy living on the ranch in the off dunn season. he had that look like he was going to win this thing. that was one of my favorite moments. when he walked in it was game on. i think everyone out here is getting ready for a little game on as we look for the third world series parade, mark, frank. >> thanks. i heard one fan kind of describe it, madison bumgarner, his nickname should be the terminator. he was kind of like a john wayne, clint eastwood, movie hero arriving on the scene.
12:08 pm
i mean that guy is stud in all caps. >> only from hudson, north carolina could you get this quote. he said i didn't know if he had enough left tonight but i did know he would try to steal a steak off of the devil's place. you would only get that from hudson, north carolina. that's a great quote. tara is joining us for the first time on this show. what's going on? look at you with your giants gear on. >> reporter: i have my giants hat on. they have a bunch of really cute stuff out here. we are at mission and main. this is where the players come. [ cheers and applause ] >> reporter: these are the people who work inside the stadium. these are the people who serve you your food. these are the people who lead you to your seats.
12:09 pm
you can tell they are pretty excited. [ chanting ] >> reporter: you can see the enthusiasm. okay. where do you work? >> i work with the security crew [ cheers and applause ] >> reporter: two years ago when you guys were out here, what was it like being with the players and are you pumped they are coming? >> yes. we are so pumped. >> we are ready for this. yeah. every time. [ cheers and applause ] >> reporter: what does it mean to work inside that stadium? >> i love it so much. i would never trade it for the world. yes. yes. yes. >> reporter: all right. who are you hoping to see? >> pablo.
12:10 pm
[ cheers and applause ] >> hunter. >> hunter is my man. >> reporter: are you guys going to get autographs and pictures with players? >> i'm hoping. [ cheers and applause ] >> reporter: you can tell they are so excited. we are minutes away from the players pulling up. as far as we know there are some convertibles they say were covered out at at&t stadium. some of those players will be placed on the convertibles. we most trolleys will be used because of the weather. >> reporter: we will keep you posted. a lot of enthusiasm here. back to you guys. >> a rowdy crew. [ laughter ] >> everybody has their favorites. one thing i have heard over and
12:11 pm
over again after the game, at the airport, on the plane and all that it's all about they have got to bring pablo back. >> it looks like that's some of the players. that's some of what they are riding on. >> you're right about pablo sandoval. i can't imagine them without pablo sandoval. >> he has put himself in the ultimate position to be the free agent. madison bumgarner still makes a lot of money. when you look at tim lincecum making 17 million, jake peavy making 14.5 million madison bumgarner, the world series mvp, lights out, head over heals above all of the other pitchers, he is making 3.5. >> yeah. they signed him to a long term contract before he was eligible to be a free agent.
12:12 pm
12:14 pm
12:15 pm
boy with his baseball cap on back towards. wards. >> to not only love a team but get to play for them. >> in the world series. >> his dad said i wish they would have tried to send that runner because my boy would have thrown him out at the play. that was a direct quote. >> that's a proud dad for you. let's go back down to heather and joe who have near the start of the parade. take a look. >> reporter: yeah, guys. the parade is getting going right now. there goes the university of california marching band. we had fire trucks to start things off and i believe we have giant players right behind us. >> everyone is looking forward to seeing their favorite players. take it in, the cal marching band. [ music ] >> reporter: it really is something to be out here and
12:16 pm
see all of these folks getting fired up. they know their favorite players are moments from making their appearance right here on market street. [ cheers and applause ] >> reporter: it looks like they will divide the players up throughout the parade. i guess john miller is on there. >> yeah. with the black hat. that is mike and john miller to his left. >> and right after that brandon -- >> there's brandon crawford. >> after the game he was saying she wanted to run on the field. she brought her out in the dug out and let her run around the diamond. >> i remember that interview you were doing with him and he was holding her and she started to yawn. >> can you imagine? it was like 1:00 in the morning. >> that is a great local story. i think that little girl's got a good chance growing up to be another giants fan. that's one of the things you
12:17 pm
noticed with this. there's a completely new generation of giants fans too. >> maybe a little spoiled. this doesn't happen three times in five years. >> that looks like hunter pence should be on there somewhere. >> yeah. you're looking at the helicopter shot. right there is the parade just starting to commend. >> we have a bunch of other things besides the players. we have the sponsors, bank of america. knbr, aaa, so a lot of other things mixed in between all of the players. hopefully we'll show you as many players as we can, that's what everyone want to see. >> one of the great things the giants organization does is involve the current players and all facets of the organization and make them feel part of it all. >> you saw that with tara.
12:18 pm
they feel like they are part of the organization because they are part of the organization. >> and a huge amount of people behind the scenes. >> look at that. [ cheers and applause ] >> i can tell our viewers frank is very excited with hunter pence. >> i like that guy. i like everything he stands for. >> the giants pa. >> wasn't she is first female stadium announcer in major league baseball? >> yeah. i saw her in kansas city. she was going crazy not being able to be on the mic, just sitting in the stands. she was wandering around. i said do you have a seat? she said i'm too hyper to sit still. i need to talk. >> she is one of those die heart giant fans. she has been a giant fan all
12:19 pm
her life. >> she was not the first ever female announcer or the first organization to have a female pa announcer but she was second. >> who was the first one? >> i will think of her name momentarily. i guarantee it. >> there is travis. >> you can't help but look at travis and think about that story earlier this year, let go by pittsburgh. >> he was starting first baseman for the pirates. >> called up his friend saying maybe i'm not cut out for this. maybe it's time for me to start looking somewhere else for work. now look at him. >> yeah. there are so many. >> and he is back and truly a giant, started his career as a san francisco giant. there again is brandon crawford
12:20 pm
and part of his family. there is amy g. along with brandon belk. >> this is my producer. you now which team? >> with the giants. >> renelle was the second pa announcer. >> i didn't know that. >> i didn't either. i just got reminded. >> three years ago he was playing for the warriors in mexico. he went to play ball in venezuela. the giants brought him up. he had been in the majors and he was cut by one of the teams. he thought i'm done. >> yeah. arizona diamond backs. >> no one wanted me. i'll go play in mexico. >> he was staying at a $175 a month hotel. >> five star hotels from here on out.
12:21 pm
>> yeah. >> he has a good chance of being in the giant starting rotation next year. >> you think so? >> yeah. >> you think brian will be back? >> i think it depends if he wants to take a pay cut. there is sergio romo. he may not be back at giant organization. let's talk about the giants who helped us. >> look at his shirt. i have issues. [ laughter ] >> that's a self statement. we'll let him be the judge of that. he has three rings as well as issues. [ laughter ] >> from the 2010 to 2012 it was buster posey who has been on the team, romo. >> tim lincecum was on there. >> and madison bumgarner.
12:22 pm
>> and matt cane of course. >> jeremy was on the 2010 team. >> give her a microphone. >> what you see is what you get with her. she is a cool person to talk to. >> yeah. she wakes you up in the morning. >> and she really is that hyper and that excited. that's no act. she is always wired for action. >> who do we have here? that is george costa who is head of security. he does a great job at the organization. anybody out there knows about george in his pinstripe suit. more of the giant families. they have braved the convertibles. i didn't think we would see many today. the weather is pretty clear. >> we still may get showers but when you saw what was happening this morning it was like oh, this is going to be bad.
12:23 pm
the weather cleared up. look what we got. >> let's go to joe and heather, guys. >> reporter: yeah. this is the place to be, you guys. we are seeing the players as they first make their turn onto market street. you can legitimately see, i think in the looks of their faces, how excited they are to be part of this and see the reception they are getting. >> i think some are a bit surprised they had this big of a crowd. the look in their eyes, they are pumped. it is one awesome thing to see. new this year, the double decker buses and the fact they put the players on top. it really elevates them. we can't talk to them. >> reporter: i couldn't help noticing joe panik. he was a kid that was in aa back in july. he got called up just because at that point in the season the giants said, you know, we got
12:24 pm
nothing to lose at second base. let's bring this kid up and see if maybe he can hang on the major league level. not only did he hang he excelled. >> reporter: what i saw was travis. as he was up there on that upper deck i saw him mouth the words wow when he saw the crowds. talk about an experience for him. just an incredible person that has suddenly created this huge fan base. for him to come in and to see this has got to be an awesome experience for him as well. >> yeah. mark and frank talked about how he considered giving up baseball, decided to hang with it. he goes in with bobby johnson, a walk off home run. those things don't happen. those are some of the things that make this season so special and not to mention
12:25 pm
madison bumgarner's performance. >> we didn't did see brandon crawford with his family and a couple of others. awesome views out here, fol s. >> you know what i can't get over here is the roar of the crowd. it keeps going and going and going. listen to that energy out there. [ cheers and applause ] >> i was thinking wow, will there be that big of a turnout considering it is the third parade in five years? i think that question has been answered. no shortage of people. you know what my favorite was, a million people. a million people they estimated for first parade, no arrests. >> is that right? >> yes. >> jeremy just went by. that is one unsung hero right there. in game seven he came in relief of hudson. it set the stage for madison bumgarner. he has been nothing short of
12:26 pm
sensational himself out of the giants bullpen. >> there were so many that stepped up. >> there is tim hudson. >> tim hudson all forgotten about game seven right now. this was his first world championship. 16 years in the big league before tasting this moment. i'm sure it's sweet for him. >> i heard about how he looks up into the stands and it gets him fired up. >> let's go back out to alex. >> reporter: hey guys. how are you? you can see our shot right there. lucille is getting the crowd fired up. we have a very anxious crowd. they have been waiting a long long time for this parade to get to their location here. we hear the horns are starting to go off.
12:27 pm
people can sense that the parade is getting close. boy, are they excited. let me show you what people are doing, the lengths people are going to to try to get a good view of all of the action. first of all here you can see the crowd ton south side of market street. you have a bunch of folks there. i'm not sure how safe it is. check out this gentleman on the light pole here. wolverine has made his way up here. he was having a conversation with the san francisco police officers. they said we asked him to come down. he's not coming down. they are weighing their options. he may be able to hang onto that seat for the entirety of that parade. the crowd is saying hey, just let him stay. [ cheers and applause ]
12:28 pm
all right. mike, can you hear me? [ cheers and applause ] >> i would imagine it's pretty loud for mike to try to hear us. >> reporter: yeah, right now we are at market and field. we saw the play by play announcer for the giants. [ cheers and applause ] >> okay. maybe we are having a little trouble with mike's shot there. >> the crowd is making so much noise like they were in kansas city. >> how loud was it?
12:29 pm
>> they deserve a lot of credit. as you get a glimpse of romo on the left side. i can't quite make out who that was on the back of the convertible. i think you'll see the players for most part on those double decker buses. we'll see a handful of them. most of them will be on the top of those double decker buses. >> the orange chair we saw over the weekend. >> a lot of that, yeah. >> that's nice. >> making the turn there. >> it must be 10, 12 deep. >> yeah. >> you and i do the chinese new year parade every year. that is an incredible turnout. this is right there with him. >> the difference i would think is it is so much fun to be involved in it. it's not that continuous roar like we are getting now. listen to that roar, that
12:30 pm
rumble. >> yeah. it's like being at a giants game in the middle of a rally right now. good stuff. >> beautiful shot there. >> that is greg, the right center fielder. >> yeah. >> the lead off spot. he is on the top there. you know what, prior to the game in kansas city he looked like the most relaxed guy out there. >> yes. >> what a whirlwind of a life he had. he was a aa for the giants as well. >> earlier this year he was in aa? >> yeah. giants aa team. he got called up and made that mad dash on the wild pitch. it gives the st.
