is ktvu channel 2 news at 5:00 p.m. >> good evening. i am ken wayne. >> i am heather holmes. a deadly fall at a halloween rave. police are investigating after university of california at berkeley student plunged to his death inside oracle arena. ktvu's cristina rendon is at cal where students are mourning the loss of a peer with a bright future ahead. >> reporter: word of his passing has made its way through campus as students are grieving. we can tell you zachary bradley was a 20-year-old student. he was science smart with a bright future and he was aspiring to be doctor and he loved music. he was at a concert at oracle

arena on halloween night this past friday and things took a tragic turn. police and authorities are telling us he fell 20 feet from a elevated and restricted area to his death and they are investigating the circumstances around his fall. preparations are underway to take him back to his home state of arizona. we talked to students who are sorry for what happened. they are sending their condolences to had family and we are learning that the fraternity will be releasing a statement tonight or tomorrow and preparations are underway to hold a vigil or a memorial this week. we reached out to oracle arena to talk about the circumstances

and they are leaving this investigation into the hands of authorities. live in berkeley, cristina rendon, ktvu channel 2 news. investigators in oakland are searching for clues in a deadly shooting. shots rang out after 8:00 p.m. last night about a block from the b.a.r.t. station. officers say they found the victim with several gun shot wounds. he died at the scene. police are not releasing the victim's name or potential suspects. another shooting in oakland left three people wounded after 12:30. all three victims are in stable condition. the shooter knew the victims but so far police haven't made any arrests. somber opening weekend for recreational crabbers. four people died yesterday as we reported after their fishing

boat capsized. one man, 66 years old, managed to make it to hang on. he is at home recovering tonight. he told authorities no one on the boat was wearing life jackets. a commercial fisherman said that is not unusual. >> they are a little cumbersome. if you can get a small vest that is not bad but they get in the way. >> the other victim included an 86-year-old and a 79-year-old both from bodega bay. turning now a the election. voters got a jump on casting their ballot with early voting today. they opened up early voting at the courthouse.

resigned amid it nude photo scandal is expected in court tomorrow. sean harrington faces two felony charges that could send him to prison for four years. prosecutors say he accessed the cell phone of a woman he arrested on suspicion of dwi and forwarded photos of the woman to his account. new developments tonight in the case of a school teacher in jail accused of child molestation. tonight our interview with martin ahead of his re-trail. he testified on the witness stand but this is the only time he spoke to a recorder on the record with his side of the story. ktvu's amber lee smoke with martin at the jail in martinez.

>> reporter: joseph martin has been in jail since his arrest last year when a student archeused him of mu-- accused him of molestation. >> reporter: did you ever molest any of these students? >> absolutely never at all. whatsoever. . >> our interview took place that contra costa county jail in martinez. martin appeared confident and relaxed. his first trial ended in august. the jury acquitted him of charges involving three students. the retrial starts monday. >> my heart was in the right place and there was no sexual intent and i believe i will be acquitted. >> he talked for two deck -- taught for two decades. 18 years at woodside elementary school. the case started with a former student visiting him in the

classroom. [ indiscernible ] >> misconstrued affection, pats on the back, hugs which are only given to students if they are comfortable with that with their permission. >> reporter: we spoke with two boys involved in the first trial. the mother told me he singled out her son and groomed them for molestation. he was acquitted of the charges but other students came forward with similar stories. >> became group hysteria might nar because the investigation was -- nightmare because the investigation was done improperly. >> reporter: he told me he only padded or hugged students as a calming technique. >> reporter: do you have anything to say to these boys? >> i would say i am devastated about the whole thing that they

went through. >> reporter: his attorney says the prosecutor informed him that 73-95 outstanding child molestation counts wolf be dis- - will be dismissed tomorrow. he spent a year and a half behind bars here at the martinez jail. still he says he has confidence in the justice system. and he says he learned from his ordeal. >> if you work with kids don't touch them at all. period. it is a sad world. but that is the way you need to protect yourself. >> when i asked if he will ever teach again he said he doesn't know. for now he is looking forward to the day he is reunited with his wife and children. amber lee, ktvu channel 2 news. new information about the pilot who survived the crash of the rocket. the new video helping

a right to die group is expected to release a statement tonight or tomorrow on the fate of a 29-year-old. she is the bay area native with a brain tumor who moved to oregon to take advantage of the state's die with dignity law. friends indicated through facebook that she ended her life but so far there is no confirmation.

she said she would end her life on november 1 but stepped back from that decision saying she would take it day by day. another woman stricken with a deadly diagnosis received a reward today. >> best day i have ever had. >> he received the most courageous award today. she has a rare form of brain cancer and given weeks to live. she decided to prepare and play in her first and only college basketball game. it was pushed up so she could play today and it was moved to cincinnati to accommodate the 10,000 fans who came out. thousands of people laced up for a half marathon in san francisco. the u.s. fall half marathon got underway at 7 a.m. this morning.

runners came from far and wide to take part. we talked to one runner who says this differs from others. >> this is great energy. people are just running running and having a really good time. you know, you get the runners' high. >> the 13.1-mile route took runners along the water front, and finishing up where it started. 10s of thousandps of runners hit -- thousands of runners hit the streets for the new york city marathon. kenyons won the men's and women's division. a time of 2 hours, 10 minutes, 55 seconds. she crossed with a time of 2 hours, 25 minutes, 7 seconds. the race has grown since it started in 1970. that is when 127 runners raced

cooler hours. in san francisco a skateboarder died after being struck by a suv last night about 9:30 p.m. near third street and cargo way. the skateboarder died at the scene. he is in his 20s or 30s. the suv driver drove away from the scene but was located. there is no word if the driver will face charges. police are investigating a mysterious death after someone found a body on the lawns of a college. offenses were called to an area. police say they have identified the victim but will say only he is a male and not a student at the school. there is no word on a cause of death. firefighters batted. >> a fire that could be seen from the bay bridge about 8:45 a.m. this morning. firefighters say it took an
