and originally they spotedthis man inside of a white honda and eventually that man did ditch that stolen car at the sun valley mall and he took off running and made his way across the freeway over to the shopping center and police say the men carjacked him, as they tried to leave the parking lot, that is when he rammed that second stolen car into a squad car in a second escape and he dianne was employed at the crispy cream shop and told everybody he didn't go there. >> he was a guy with a gun and all of these cops just running

towards the scene. >> reporter: police have not identified the man who was shot to death and investigators do tell us he was a convicted felon they will include members of the police department and they were forced to shoot to protect themselves and protect members of the public who were here and we have reached out to a spokesperson looking for more information on last night's shooting and we will let you know if there is anything new. live in concord, ktvu channel 2 morning news. >> still checking with you throughout the morning. there is a new development in the case of a teen hit by a car in the san leandro area. they have found the car that hit the boy as it was being pursued by police.

plus last night friend and family of ivan cruz held a vigil at the spot where he died. ivan was a freshman his mother and two older sisters cannot understand why this happened. >> it is not anger, it is not anything, i just want him back. >> alameda sheriff's deputies were trying to pull the car over because he was driving erratically and that's when he hit a red light in the crosswalk holding one of his prized positions a scooter he received for christmas. it is clean up time after a water-main broke and joining us live to tell us why this was an area where flooding problems were very common. the flooding happens every rainy season and this time it

was is due to the water-main break and we have a lot of mud and there is still a lot of water in the gutter and that store was actually flooded out and luckily crews had it done overnight. >> i saw it getting high fast. >> reporter: crews wanted to get the cast iron pipe fixed before it hit and had people rushing out of their shops before 3:30 yesterday afternoon. they took photos of water spewing from the pavement. >> it lifted up maybe a foot almost, i was like what is going on and we went out there and we saw the water shooting up out of the cracks of the street. >> reporter: marin district shut the water off after a half hour and many were able to get

the latest gun violence where people had been -- eight people have been shot in the last week. family members say frasier was a point guard for richmond high's team and they have not made any arrests and if you have any information about the shooting call police. we have much more coming up and we will have a live interview with the police chief of richmond. and the city of alameda officially has a new mayor after more than a week of counting ballots. they defeeded incumbent mayor and it was decided after 129 votes. 609, honoring san francisco police officers for acts of heroism and they were awarded the metal of valor.

results and police say they were forced to open fire, here is more, alex? >> reporter: police shot and killed a man who they say rammed a stolen car and it happened here which is where that shooting took place and the deadly confrontation came at the end of a deadly chase. the pursuit initially started at the deputies' -- the man eventually ditched the car at the sun valley mall making his way over here to the willow shopping center which is just across 680. a man then carjacked a driver and tried to drive off in that person's car but concord officers were right in the man's way. they boxed in the car and
