lafayette, 49. mid-50s for pittsburg and brentwood. chilly. the clouds cover heading north, except for a few high clouds. we have a lot of fog. i should not say a lot. mostly sunny, highs in the 50s. let's see if there is any more rain. a huge problem on 880 and i think it's still an issue here. >> the damage is done. they've opened all the lanes. southbound 880 is still slow outs of oakland heading down to san leandro, southbound 880 at davis. they moved the cars to the shoulder but they are still there. traffic is getting a little better but not much. it's going to take a bit for this to unwind. now that the lanes are open, you'll see some improvement. we'll keep an eye open. you can see all the red sensors in the area. i would use eastbound 580 as an

alternate route. and 580 is going to be slow this morning, although it's not as bad. we have slow traffic on the altamonte pass. when you get to the bay bridge, if you are coming into san francisco, this is about a 25 to 30 minute drive into the city. the time is 7:04. back to the desk. >> thank you. a strong warning to students and parents after a suspicious man approached students and teachers in san mateo. the three incidents happened near san mateo high school and that's where we find ktvu's reporter alex savidge. >> reporter: good morning. police are quite concerned about his behavior. he has been trying to talk to girls here as they went to class. he even approached a teacher here last night. in that particular case, that young woman reported being harassed near the adult school which is right next to the high school. this past wednesday, a 16-year- old girl said a man in a parked

car yelled out at her from across the street as she was walking to school. he said, good morning, can i ask you a question? he then asked her to come closer to the chasm the student ignored her and then went on to class. >> and then a girl was parking her car in a parking lot when she noticed a suspicious man watching her. the man pulled and the parking lot, followed her as she went to class she was able to get away. one parent who lives nearby is urging students to be cautious. >> be more aware of your surroundings and what's going on. be active in the neighborhood. >> just observe a little bit, you know, keep your eyes open, eyes and ears. >> reporter: in all three of these cases, the descriptions are similar. one man described him as a light skinned asian man, balding, between 35 to 40 years

old, driving a hatch bag. the other girl described the man as fill pin yo, bald. police plan to release a accept of this man in the coming days. they are warning everyone to be careful here. alex savidge, ktvu. >> thank you, alex. it sean 06. happening today, a former c hp officer accused of stealing explicit photos from the cell phone of dui suspects is due in court. sean harrington faces two felony counts of theft. he is still being investigated for a complaint made by a third woman. he resigned as part of a plea deal. he has forwarded photos to others, but prosecutors say there is not enough evidence to prosecute the other officers. a former drug dealer and

police informant testified that a group of police officers helped him rob fellow drug dealers. the testimony yesterday was in the first of two federal corruption trials. the allegations first surfaced in 2011 after surveillance video showed officers searching residential hotels. prosecutors called the case corruption with a badge. they accused members of an undercover police unit of extortion, drug dealing and lying in courts and on police reports. time is 7:07. a suspected prowler in milpitas captured by residents who refuse to be victims. during a routine traffic stop, a police officer heard two men arguing nearby. the officer checked it out. he found some of the peoplelying in the housing complex were chasing a man who they say got into their house during the night. >> this is what we call a hot

prowl or residential burglar. we don't have a lot of those in mill pita but the daytime residential burglaries are in an up tick. officers tracked down that suspect and arrested him. at 7:07, a construction worker still in the hospital with very serious injuries after being caught in a piece of machinery last night at an antioch worksite. it happened on the mean of highway 4 near the mill crest avenue commit. that worker was caught in an auger, a big pipe that has a screw that churns around and around. the worker had major injuries and had to be air lifted. both it's not clear which project that worker was involved with. 7:08. when you head to work this morning or if you are driving your child to school, you will have extra company on the road. ktvu's brian flores is on highway 101 in cordar maderras.

i feel like i have been seeing more and more aggressive drivers these days. >> reporter: yeah, you and me both, tori. i live in the east bay. chp has had crack downs before when it comes to dui on force. , texting while driving. now the chp will focus on aggressive drivers for the next year. hopefully this will save some lives. the chp announced they received a federal grant for this crackdown. they say they will be adding more officers on the freeway to look for drivers doing unsafe lane changes, speeding. aggressive driving contributed to 1100 deaths and thousands of people injured in the state. we spoke to some north bay drivers who say that aggressive driving is on the increase as well. >> you see some of that up here, commute hour, especially and the hoff lane and the commuter lane there. and also we have a traffic kind

of a bottleneck up here where people get off sir francis drake and commute toward the richmond bridge. that creates some tension as traffic is backing up and stuff like that. >> the chp says that while aggressive driving is subjective, some tell tale signs include tail getting, speeding and unsafe lynn changes. we did a drive along with chp. if you see three or more moving violations in a giving period, that defines reckless driving for them. the most common sign of aggressive driving is speeding and tailgating. over all, the goal is to see a 5% reduction in the amount of fatalities and injuries from aggressive driving in the state. live here in corda maderras. >> a good reminder for everyone to drive carefully a decision on whether san jose will hold a recount in the

mayoral election. supervisor dave courtesi concede. the team resigned days before and many are wonder going that affected the vote counting process. registrar did contact the secretary of state's office and was told if they wanted to recount votes, they can. now, the last ballot count has ricardo leading by about 3000 votes. if there is a recount, it will happen before december 2nd. 7:11. happening today, contra costa county is preparing for the release of another round of inmates because of the recent passage of proposition 47. under prop 47, certain crimes, including drug possession and theft involving less than $950 arereduced from felony to

misdemeanor. the maximum sentence is down from three years in jail. more than 3700 inmates across california are now eligible. inmates awaiting trial or in jail could be released. a contra costas county judge announced the release of 700 inmates. other bay area cities are also taking similar stems. twitter just got junked. standard and poors assigned twitter with a junk rating. that means that they don't have much confidence that it can repay its debt. s&p does not expect twitter to post a positive cash flow until 2016. >> really? seems like it's so pervasive everywhere. >> but a lot of these companies, although they are popular are still not making a lot of money. time is 7:12.

>> this is such a great story. two years ago, a friend of annise bordier showed her a youtube clip of another woman who looked just like her. after months of investigation, they found a name, samantha fudderman, were were same korea and had the same birthday. bordiier was adopted by french parents and samantha by american women. they have been in constant contact since they got together. the search for their birth mother did not have such a happy ending. finding our birth mother is a difficult topic. she was not necessarily as warm as we had hoped for, but as we learned anything in this story is that things will happen as they should. >> these two beautiful twins are now 26 years old.

thanks are much better now. if you are driving on 582 westbound in the north lynn area, traffic is going to be slow there. i just want to mention the traffic on the peninsula is okay on the 101 pretty much all the way into the south bay with mo major issues. now, let's go back to the desk. >> all right, sal. people in oakland who knew a blind man who was struck and killed by a car last night say that more needs to be done to make that oakland intersection safer and prevent future tragedies. this happened on market street near the berkeley sit knee line. tara moriarty joins us live from the scene and i know you talked to members of the victim's mosque who is nearby. that's where he was heading. he was using his stick, official stick used for the blind as he was crossing. you can see this happened right behind me. he was struck and killed. they live a few blocks away from where we are. this crosswalk is difficult for

anyone, vision or not, to make it across safely. the accident happened at 6:15 last night. witnesses say that the driver was traveling too fast and struck the blind man as he was walking. we talked to one mosque member who says that the 47-year-old man was a difficulting and religious man who lost his vision about 20 years ago. he says that the victim had overcome great odds, was humble and gave back to his community. >> he wants the city to make 62nd and north safer. >> i want to see a traffic light. there is a mosque here. it's very busy with children here. he was walk through the walkway and not going anywhere else. the lines are quite clear, white clear lanes. the person driving has to pay attention. >> officers say this was not a ihne. the driver did stop and

cooperate. the victim leaves behind a wife and four children, ranging in age from high school to infant. they have yellow lanes so make it visible. and there are no lights here. that's another thing that a lot of the neighbors around here say needs to happen. tara moriarty keeper in cupertino wants new safety measures after a student riding a bike to school was hit and killed. ethan wong was hit by a u-haul truck. a bike path running alongside the train tracks that lead to the school was suggested to be put in. other ideas include passing out reflective tape to put on students' back packs. also adding more crossing guards and painting bright green bike lanes. the city of cupertino is expected to take up suggestions

next month. i'm is 7:36. we have new information about the wrong way driver. kerry lynn morgan was driving a stolen car. photos of the now embounded mangled mess shows the severity of the impact. she crashed head on with one car and site swapped two others. ktvu spoke with the owner of the stolen car and he told us the lynn can sedan is part of a taxicab fleet. he says he parked it in emeryville saturday among before going out of town. no word on how long kerry morgan had the car saturday before the crash. the chp finished its investigation yesterday and sent its report to the san francisco district attorney seeking several charges, including felony dui, auto theft, driving the wrong way and driving without a license. caltrans begins round 2 of a tricky repair project on the bay bridge. round 1 was when cal tran installed steel plates on the western span last month. you see it right there.

they quickly stopped the project and removed the plates of a morning rush hour traffic slowed to a crawl. crews will now work at night instead for the next ten weeks and they will rely on quick drying cement instead of steel plates. bridge traffic may be limited to just one lane, however. time now is 7:38. san jose police searching for more clues right now after the body of a baby was found in a box under a mobile home. a maintenance man found it under highway 101 on that crawl spaissments he was doing some maintenance washing. he found a box with a row wrapped it around. when he opened the box, he found the baby's body inside. >> i take the tape off and see the cloth, take the cloth out and see the little hat. i found a man and said, i think i found a dead baby in the box. >> police are also trying to

figure out how long the baby's body was there and who may have put it there. neighbors say that the place had been vacant for a while and the previous owners left in a rush. there were reports of people who had been in and south of that home since it was abandoned. asiana airline will appeal a suspension handed down by the south korean government since the crash. asiana was prohibited from flying between san francisco and the city of injon for 45 days as a punish the. three passengers were killed, more than 120 people were hurt after the asiana satellite 215 clipped a sea wall short of the runway. south korea announced it could have imposed a 90 day suspension but reduced the penalty in view of the flight crew's efforts to minimize the number of casualties 7:39. an hour and a half ago,

pretty important warning here, alex. >> sure is, tori. good morning to you. police are concerned about this man's behavior. they want to figure out who he is and what his intentions are. there have been reports of three girls harassed. a 19-year-old young woman was harassed by this man. they believe it has been the same man in all three of these cases harassed by him near the adult school close to senate yo high school. there was another case yesterday. a 16-year-old girl said that man yelled at her from across the street n another case last week, a 16-year-old girl harassed as well. i want to bring in sergeant rick d.c.or with the san mateo miss department this morning. tell me in particular about the case last night that you had the girl harassed. what did this man say to her? >> at about 6:00 last night, he approached her. he actually got out of the vehicle nearby. he greeted her and offered her money for her to come with him. >> talk about how concerned you are about his behavior.

him, figure out who he is and what his intentions are and put the community there at ease. >> thank you alex. happening today, the former chp officer who is accused of stealing explicit photos from the cell phones of female dui suspects, he is due in court. sean harrington faces two felony counts of theft and copying computer data from two women he arrested. he is still being investigated for a complaint by a third woman. harrington resigned in october. he may seek a plea deal. prosecutors say that they suspect he forwarded the explicit photos to other chp officers. reportedly, there is not enough for a criminal case against those other officers. >> a decision is expected soon whether san jose will hold a recount in the mayoral

election. the incumbent mayor claimed vick tri and his opponent, sam cortese has conceded. if a recount is requested, it could happen. the last ballot count says that liccardo leads by about 3000 votes. if there is a recount, it would happen before december 2nd. time is 8:06. there is a warning this morning if you are an aggressive driver. the chp is out there looking for you. brian flores is live. tell us about what they are targeting. >> reporter: the chp are targeting all aggressive drivers. dave, good morning to you. the chp has had crack downs on driving under the influence enforcement, texting while

driving. for the next year, they're going to be focusing on aggressive drivers. hopefully that will keep us safer here. the chp also received a grant to make this all happen for the crackdown. the say they'll be adding more officers on freeways throughout the state, to look for drivers who speed, do unsafe lane changes or drive on the wrong side of the road. the crack down is important in light of the most recent statistics. aggressive driving contributed to 1100 deaths and thousands of people being injured. the chp says that speed itself contributed to 42% of all fatal and injury collisions in california. we did speak with some north bay commuters to say that aggressive driving is on the increase. >> totally agree. should also crack down on cell phone usage. people using their cell phone, hands off, see it all the time.
