actually a little cooler in areas like santa rosa, novato and napa. the low 40s this morning. mid to upper 40s for the east bay shoreline. upper 40s to mid-50s for the areas along the peninsula and the bay. we'll take a look at a few more numbers, 51 in the los altos hills area. palo alto you're checking in at 50 degrees. for the afternoon, partly cloudy skies. temperatures in the 60s. for most of us if not all of us. low 60s pacifica. upper 60s concord, livermore and antioch. tomorrow temperatures will be slightly warmer. more rain on the way. i'll show you that chance coming up. a chp officer and a sonoma county sheriff's deputy are recovering after crashing a vehicle. it happened after 11:00 last night on 101 north of the

central healdsburg avenue exit. the unmarked patrol car was going 70 miles an hour when it swerved to avoid hitting furniture on the highway. >> they took evasive action. they hit the furniture, spun off the road, hit a tree and spun around. >> a chp suffered a large cut on his head and injured his leg. a backup plane from oakland to seattle arrived at seaport airport at 2:02. the plane hit a bird or flock of birds. the captain then returned to oakland. >> there were lots of emergency vehicles just waiting in case they had a problem landing because they didn't have their instruments that they had before. they weren't willing to go to seattle. >> the original flight carried 144 passengers and six crew members. everyone was okay while many of the passengers took that later flight, some are flying to seattle this morning. friends and family will celebrate the life of a young

man who died at a fraternity off the uc berkeley campus. 20-year-old, vivev lumba went to a party. they got separated and lost track of him. he was found dead the next day. authorities are waiting for results from toxicology tests. lumba recently enrolled at uc davis. he was class president in lafayette. today's memorial starts at 10 a.m. at mount diablo unitarian church. a marin man is being called a hero after he saved a stranger from his burning car. it happened friday morning, check out those pictures. police say a 60-year-old driver passed out. then careened several hundred yards, crashed through a fence near the marin civic center. that car had started to slow when a man driving to work saw the car and pulled over. gonzalo dragged the unconscious man from behind the wheel of the car as it was filling with

smoke. he acted on instinct. >> it happened all so quick, once i smelled the smoke, i just had to get him out. there was no what if. he had to get out of the car. >> if the person had been in the car much longer or for any length of time he would have definitely been killed. >> the driver has already been released from the hospital. police say the swift action likely saved that man's life. five people received minor incidents after amy know trolley set off a collision. it happened last night at church street. this video shows the damage where it appears the trolley rear-ended a silver suv. that set off a chain reaction involving two more vehicles. the cause of the accident is under investigation. the jack london square ferry terminal in oakland will be closed today and tomorrow to refurbish. oakland bay ferry readers asked to go to the alameda ferry instead. this is part of an ongoing

project to install a new passageway and relocating and repairing a security get a. the terminal will reopen for the monday morning commute. the jack london square ferry terminal in oakland will be closed today and tomorrow so they can refurbish the dock. well, actually we're going to  get to that story that time. first we're going to talk about these bridge plates. the work had begun to replace the deteriorating joints in the upper deck of the western span of the bay bridge. caltrans says the crews are going to work overnight each day between monday night and saturday morning for the next two months. crews are going to use a fast setting concrete this time instead of the steel plate. because as you recall these pictures, when those plates were installed last month they caused so many problems they had to be removed. it caused massive gridlock. the new repairs are going to cost nearly $3 million. we're also getting a look at what that new movable barrier on the golden gate

bridge is going to look like. that barrier will extend those north and south of the bridge. we're also looking at the barrier transfer machine right there that drives over the barrier, the little pieces that go diagonally under the vehicle moving them over one lane. the bridge is set to close the weekend of january 10th. the crab commercial fishing season kicks off today. about an hour ago, commercial fishermen in the bay area retrieved their first sets of crab pods. many said it looked like it was going to be a pretty good year. commercial crabbers can only harvest male crabs that measure at least 6 and a quarter inches across. this season they will earn $3 a pound. amazon is looking to hire experienced drone pilots to develop its drone delivery service. according to the job posting candidates should have five years of experience flying drones and a pilot certificate is preferred. the type of drones posed by amazon's ceo currently are not

allowed for private use but federal aviation rules are expected to change sometime next year. amazon is calling its drones octocopters. a 19-year-old man is under arrest accused of trashing a san francisco police car following the giant's world series victory last month. that police vehicle sustained more than $10,000 in damage. suspect ryan douglas london faces one count of felony vandalism. windows were smashed and graffiti was scrawled on about a dozen police cars. this is the first arrest in connection with that vandalism. 28 muni vehicles were also damaged after the world series. this morning tickets go on sale for wrestle mania at levi stadium. last night thousands of fans turned out for an early celebration of the event. >> they look a little bit excited. wwe stars signed autographs and took pictures with the fans. the party was held to get people ready for wrestle mania 31. the major pro wrestling event

is in iraq own a surprise visit to baghdad. martin dempsey is going to meet with iraqi leaders and military personnel about the war with islamic state terrorists. it's his first visit to the company since the u.s. led coalition began a campaign of air strikes. two days ago dempsey did testify, you can see that video there, before the house armed services committee. california has put new rules in place to protect doctors, nurses and other health workers treating patients with ebola. the state updated its guidelines for hospitals to provide protective equipment that covers all parts of the body. hospitals also must update their plans to include how they would prevent exposure to ebola. the new regulations expand upon general guidelines issued in october. officials announce charging americans to cross the border. under a new program, foreigners who enter mexican territory for more than seven days will have

to pay $28. people who are in mexico less than seven days do not have to pay. immigration officials in mexico say the new permit procedure will help them keep better track of foreigners in their country and those who cross for work. president obama is expected to sign an executive order as soon as next week that will allow up to 5 million undocumented immigrants avoid deportation. the plan is expected to allow immigrant parents whose children are american citizens apply for work authorizations to stay in the country. it would also include those who came to the country as children. under the plan, convicted criminals would still be did e deported. >> i indicated to speaker boehner several months ago that if in fact congress failed to act, i would use all the lawful authority that i possess to try to make the system work better. >> we're going to fight the president tooth and nail if he

wednesday. >> okay. beautiful. thanks rosemary. >> you're welcome. >> thank you. 7:18 it's happened more than 100 times since the napa earthquake in august, it's happened again, another water main has broken. this time it's near the intersections of highway 12 and 29. channel 2 reporter allie rasmus joining us live from the affected neighborhood. just so we're clear, the resident there is do have water but they're being asked to limit the use? >> reporter: yes, residents do have water, but that water service may be intermittent. the city of napa don't expect that water service to be fully restored until next friday the 21st at the earliest. there are two water main breaks city of napa crews are dealing with right now, the one you mentioned at highway 12 and 29 that happened yesterday and the one that happened here over a week ago. this is at laurel and browns valley road. you can see construction crews, the city of napa water crews are starting to arrive. they've just started to fire up

the excavator here. below where they're standing there are these giant metal plates covering a huge gaping hole. that's where the repair work is being done. this is video of that water line repair work at this same site earlier this week. as i mentioned it's been going on for a week. water customers in the area of eastern browns valley are being asked to limit their water use between 6 and 10 a.m. and avoid irrigating their lawns, watering their lawns while they complete these repairs. water service in the area is going to be intermittent, and it will be for at least the next week. now the repairs here are not expected to be done until november 21st. this is one of 150 to 180 water main breaks that have happened in napa believed to have been caused by the august 24th august 24th earthquake. again, back out here live at laurel street and browns valley, you can see the excavator is just getting started. we're going to check in with crews and get an update on their progress here and also at the site of that other water main break at highway 12 and

pacifica. hayward, 69 in livermore, fairfield. and we'll take another jump tomorrow, it is going to be a mini one. i'll show you that in theextendened forecast i'm tracking more rain. well 2 maintenance workers from the high school were injured after a natural gas explosion. school officials say the gas lines were turned off after the napa earthquake in august. on thursday night they decided to restore service. at 8:00 yesterday morning an explosion happened when the workers were checking a heater in an unused classroom. nobody else was hurt, but still some parents rushed to the school. >> i heard they were just going to put them back in class so i was like, no, man. don't make no sense, i'm going come get you guys. >> officials say one of the workers was badly injured in the explosion, there is nord who how he is doing. the state fire martials and the school district are conducting a joint investigation into the incident. the police say they've arrested a man who was cooking hash oil in his house just feet away from an 11 month old baby.

police say they went to the street on november 11th after getting calls about a strong gas odor and they tracked that odor to a home where they say they found an active hash oil lab. as you can see there they did seize that equipment which included hundreds of butane gas cans and cooking devices. they arrested the 31-year-old for making that hash oil and possession of more than $20,000 worth of oil and marijuana. the family of a young boy who slipped and fell 200 feet off a cliff remains hopeful this morning. the 4-year-old is in a medically-induced coma at the hospital. his father says they have tried to coax him awake, he moved his fingers and opened one eye but is still unconscious. a deputy and 2 constructional officers are accused of smuggling items inside a jail. the 3 men are veteran employs

with a combined 60 years offs service. george was accused of giving an inmate oxy in exchange for cash, they are also accused of smuggling cell phones for cash to the same inmate. a man who the da says is a known gang member. >> if in fact these allegations are true, then we absolutely, we absolutely want the district attorney's office to prosecute these individuals, you know, to the fullest extent. >> deputy lspez recently ran for sheriff as a write-in candidate and lost, they say he is being targeted by the sheriff and district attorney because of his campaign. if convicted, the 3 men could face up to 5 years in prison. the california highway patrol officer accused of stealing photos female suspects is pleading not guilty. he is facing 2 counts of

unauthorized access to a computer and copying computer data. his attorney says that the not guilty plea does not mean he is denying the charges, they say he has victimized more women than been charged with. earlier this month he resigned after admitted to forwarding nude photos from the knowns of women under arrest. exceptional mind as well as someone who never outgrew his inner child, to some of the descriptions of a san francisco tech worker. as we've been reporting he went missing on halloween, there was no sign of him until this week when a ferry captain spotted a body in the bay. official identification could take weeks, his family believes it is him based upon the clothing and the wallet found. a few hundred friends and family members packed a church for a memorial service. some mourners wiped away tears including colleagues in the local tech community and former

stanford classmates. one of the brothers talked about how he lived life through the fullest. >> he lived life through the fullest, talented musician, lover of technology, amateur chef, and video game enthusiest. >> they say he has no history of mental illness and don't believe he took his own life. >> another teen who lit anotherteenager's skirt on fire has been sentenced to prison. he sent her skirt on fire on an ac transit bus last november. she suffered serious burned on both legs. thomas says he wanted to give a statement but he was not feeling well. his cousin spoke on his behalf. >> he just wants to forgive him for what happened, just a big

misunderstanding and he apologizes, i know i can see it in his eyes that he is genuinely sorry for what he's done. >> she is now fully recovered living away at college in 3 months a judge is going to evaluate thomas' educational and rehabilitative progress and will do the same again next summer if everything looks good his sentence could be reduced. 2 basketball coaches are teaming up to get at-risk teenagers off the streets this is called operation athletics and it comes one week after a young basketball player was shot and killed. amber has more on how the love of the game has already saved lives. on your time, we're on your time! shoot em if you got them, play! >> shooting practice at the school. one week from the season's first game. a season without team leader rodny frazier. >> when i do play, i feel like, ambition. like i want to play harder.

mean we shouldn't try. >> the day before rodny died, he left his basketball shoes with his teacher for safekeeping, something many inner city students do to safeguard their valuables. now their coach is trying to safeguard their lives with basketball and mentoring. >> i know it helps me stay out of a lot of trouble, you know, because it's so much stuff you can get into, into the neighborhood . some of the players will be at the game, some of the executives talk to you to make sure we're still doing the right stuff feel good about what we're doing. >> that was amber reporting as you heard there coach collins received a phone call saying members of the team plan to attend the game and his players have been invited to attend a warrior's game. 2 top women have resigned in connection to racially- charged comments allegeddedly made by one of the women. in a university meeting last february, foundation board

member was accused of saying she didn't have what it takes to succeed. it is an accusation she denied. and rebecca was criticized to not objecting to the comment at the meeting while both women stepped down yesterday, the school is examing the results of an investigation into the incident which did spark several campus protests. an army recruit ner florida has been arrested on suspicion of sending naked pictures of himself to a 16-year-old girl. police took him into custody after the girl reported him to school officials. investigators say mcdonald sent naked pictures and texted that he wanted to ask the teen but didn't want to go to jail. he collected the names and phone numbers of the students. >> our children are safe, we have the places and pieces in place to ensure that we build those relationships with the officer and students that are on campus. >> he is being held on 2 counts

of cruelty to a child and transmitting harmful material. and a sign that's been up for 70 years may get taken town. the carlos club first debuted in 1947. when the bar was sold people started to get concerned that new ownership would get rid of that sign. they put together a change.org petition to make sure that did not happen, so far they've collected 800 signatures. the name of our town. i mean, it is such a beacon for the city. people remember that. it is a community memory. >> the new own ser yet to confirm if he'll change the name on the sign. the issue will be brought up in the council meeting. while they say it has control over the sign, they have the right to change the name on that sign. southern california lawmakers are hoping los angeles will host the 2024 summer olympics. 4 local members sent a letter

snow is covering idaho, colorado, michigan, kentucky have also had some snowfall. the state highway department is already facing a shortage of road salt. >> typical piles have been depleted from last winter, it is making material very difficult to get right now. >> the snow in western new york has already caused a number of accidents on roadways there, they are not getting plowed due to a contract dispute between 2 neighboring counties, forecastest say more snow is expected in the coming days. a 4 month old kitten in colorado has a second chance of life after nearly freezing to death. a woman found the kitten on thursday covered in snow and suffering from hypothermia. she says she was not sure if it was still alive so she put it on a heating pad and took the kitten to the local animal shelter. well the veterinarian staff there quickly put the kitten on warm iv fluids to get her temperature up. and she is looking good.

7:46 on tuesday the city is going to be looking at a proposal to put cameras of people entering the city. every time this does come up it sparks a debate on privacy versus security. >> the conversation is just getting started. >> could be a good idea. >> we are about to hear a lot more. >> this seems to be a hot spot for most communities. >> it is a question of cameras. cameras that would watch who comes and who goes. >> then i kind of think it is also an invasion of privacy. >> the $10,000 cameras would scan the license plate of every car. >> it is a camera that takes a picture of a license plate. this technology allows the officer to be advised immediately if the car is stolen or the license plate is wanted. >> the hope is twofold. the bad guys know there are

cameras they'll choose to stay away or if they do come to town, officers get a little help solving or preventing the crime. the question with cameras where do you put them? highway 24, it cuts right through the middle. the chief says that area tends to be a hot spot and said cameras would likely be most effective there as long as another 2 other ways in and out of the city. the chief insists the camera idea isn't crime-driven. >> i just did a 5 year study and we're on a downward trend. >> he says it is community driven and a neighborhood group brought the idea to him, tuesday night he'll bring it to the council. it is on the agenda, this will be a policy matter. >> i'm not sure, there is pluses and minuses. >> the conversation is just getting started. >> the cost depends on really how many cameras you want and it costs $120,000 to put the cameras in there, 4,000 a year to maintain it.

widespread, just be aware of it if you have an early morning commute. i want to start here with a still shot of the satellite and radar, a lot ofactivity going out in the pacific, picking up a few scattered areas like crescent city. this is keeping that storm track to the north. so for us, it is all about a little bit of morning fog, mildafternoons, dry conditions we've got fog in the valley if you're going to be commuting into the central valley this morning, but again, this ridge is keeping that rain to the north of us. i think we'll have a few clouds slip over the ridge and so we'll be in and out of clouds for today as well as tomorrow, but we're going to be dry for the next several days, our next chance for rain will come tuesday night into wednesday. so just a few days ago having a real hard time figuring it out. one model said we'd get rain on tuesday, one said another day. right now the temperatures on

the cool side, especially air nas like napa and santa rosa. in the low 40s. a lot of 40s to mid-50s from areas like oakland, san jose, 50 degrees with partly cloudskies, we've got temperatures coming into the mid-60s as we get into the second half of the day. that's not going to work for me. we have 65 expected in your neighborhood. how about here, 64 degrees expected. mid-60s, head into the east bay, more of the same. mid-60s for areas like oakland, 67 in danville. to the south bay where temperatures will remain in the upper 60s. these numbers, slightly warmer than yesterday. you may, may not notice so much, as we get into the afternoon along the peninsula. 67 degrees. palo alto, a beautiful day. stanford playing this afternoon am i correct michael? >> i'll have to look up who they are playing. >> here's a look at your extended forecast and your bay area weekend always in view.

. welcome back to mornings on 2. joining me, the boy scouts of america. this is being called one of the biggest thanksgiving food drive. i know it starts at 9:00 this morning. >> we had scouts putting out the fliers on doors they'll be coming back around your door to pick up food items for local area food pantries and charities around the area. you've been engrossed with some of the pantries, how is it looking right now? are they pretty empty isn't the counties? >> this is a very needy time of year as it is throughout the year, but coming into the winter months it is good to get into the food collection throughout the area. >> how long has scouts been doing this? >> we've been doing this since 1988. the boy scouts started this, it is quite successful to us.

>> how deep do you go with them in terms of the hunger problem or so many families, some families even working families because of the prices of food tough to get food on the table from grocery stores. do you tell them these stories? >> really what the scouts are learning is to help other people at all times. so it is that effort they put forward to help other people who are less fortunate than them. >> so what do they go? they go knock on the door. >> hang out, go in the neighborhoods, see if you have one . then they pick the bags of food. >> this is macaroni. this is one of the items they need. usually it comes in bags and delivered to the food pantries. the scouts get the biggest bang is when they go to the food pantries see how much food is there and learn about how many people they serve and kind of a neat process. >> people didn't even know about this, they can still obviously donate. >> they can, drop them off at grocery stores, if you see the

temperatures also begin to turn around, feels a little better out there as we get into the next hour or so getting a live look into san jose, where it is an easy drive through there. we have had bouts of fog throughout the week, had it really thick over parts of the north bay yesterday morning. not the case today. still with areas like santa rosa reporting some patchy fog, not as widespread. partly cloudy mostly sunny skies, as expected temperatures beginning to turn around. napa, santa rosa. and there is an improvement there. meanwhile around the bay we have 40s in areas like redwood city. mid-50s in hayward, checking at 46 degrees. still cool but again, we've got that turn around already underway as we get into the second half of your afternoon, i think we'll be in and out of the partly cloudy skies, a lot

of 60s out there. quite uniform in our temperatures at least from the coast into san francisco. low to mid-60s. you get inland. temperatures will be in the upper 60s areas like concord, these areas a tad warmer than yesterday. tomorrow will be slightly warmer in the extended forecast i've got rain to show you more on that coming up. happening now, it has happened more than 100 times since the napa earthquake back in august, now it has happened again. another water main has broken. this one was near the intersection of highway 12 and highway 29, ktvu is joining us live from napa in one of the affected neighborhoods looks like there is still a lot of activity. >> they are still having water but being asked to limit their use between 6 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. we're at lauren and browns valley road where work continues to repair a water main break that happened a week ago. the crews arrived an hour ago right now they are pumping

water out of this gaping home you can see in the ground in order to get to the line. the supervisor tells me a 2- foot section of pipe had to be special ordered to complete the repairs. it took a week for it to arrive. they'll have welders in place. this repair work has gone on for a week and is expected to last another week. water service for customers in the browns valley area may be intermittent until then. we talked to some residents who say, sometimes this work goes on around the clock, they say. >> sometimes they are there all night and it's been, i've gotten to know them all and they are really nice guys. every day i go out and ask, what are you doing today. and so, i don't mind the noise even though it goes on all night. >> this is one of 2 water main breaks the city of napa is dealing with right now the one is mention on highway 12 and

29. it was a 36-inch main that burst yesterday. the exact location of that break is on the property of the napa district. so we're hold it is nowhere where you could see it if you're driving along the highway and not expected to affect traffic in anyway. work is continuing at that site and we're between 150 and 180 water breaks since the earthquake. the 2 breaks we've been telling you about here on laurel and brown valley road are believed to have been caused by the earthquake. all right thanks. new this morning a chp office and a deputy are recovering after crashing a patrol vehicle. it happened about 11:00 last night on 101 north of the central avenue exit. the chp officer was driving and the deputy was in the passenger seat. the chp says the unmarked patrol car was going 70 miles per hour when it swerved to

avoid hitting furniture on the highway. they took avasive action, appears they hit the furniture, hit a tree and spun around. >> an officer suffered a large cut on his head and the deputy injured his legs. a back-up plane from oakland to seattle arrived at the airport at 2:00 this morning after the original flight struck a bird. alaska airlines took off around 6:45 but the plane hit a bird or flock of birds 20 minutes later. the airline says the captain then returned to oakland. there were lots of emergency vehicles waiting in case they had a problem landing because they didn't have their instruments that they had before. >> the original flight carried 144 passengers and 6 crew members everybody was okay. while many passengers took that later flight. some are flying to seattle this morning. this morning friends and family will celebrate the life of a young man who died at a

fraternity off the campus 20 gerald went 20-year-old went to a party, and friends say he got separated from them. today's memorial starts at 10 a.m. at the church in walnut creek. a marine man is being called a hero after he saved a stranger from his burning car. this happened on friday morning. police say the 60-year-old driver that you see there passed out before crashing into a fence and into the civic center. the car had just started to smoke when a man driving to work on the 101 freeway saw the car then pulled over. he dragged that unconscious man out from behind the wheel as the car was filling with smoke. he says he acted on instinct and didn't think about his own safety. >> it happened all so quick that i just once i smelled the smoke, i just had to get him

out, that's all. so there was no, what have this happens, he had hit a guy in the car. >> if a person had been in the car for much longer or any length of time, he would have definitely been killed. >> he is doing okay. the driver has already been released from the hospital. 5 people received minor injuries after a trollly set off a multi-car collision that accident happened at about 7:30 last night at church and market streets. this video shows the damage where it appears the trollly rear ended an suv. the fire department says that set off a chain reaction involving 2 more cars, the cause of this accident is still under investigation. the ferry will be closed because of the doc. this weekend's closure is part of an on-going project to install a new passage way and relocating and repairing a security gate. the oakland ferry terminal will re-open for the monday morning commute. work has started to replace

deteriorating joints of the upper deck of the bay bridge, they say crews are working over night each day between monday night and saturday morning. crews are going to use a fast- setting concrete instead of steal plates. you might recall the plates hadto be removed after a lip on the plates had people slamming on their breaks. the repairs are going to cost $3 million. we're also getting a look at the golden gate bridge, what it is going to look like. we're going to show you a map if we can and how that is going to extend north and south of that bridge. that is the barrier transfer machine as it drives over the barrier the pieces move over one lane. the bridge is set to close so crews can install that new barrier. >> the dungeon, officially kicks off today. some fishermen retrieved their first sets of crab pots and

broken main. they say a 2-foot section pipe had to be order, even so this repair work is expected to last another week. water service for customers in the browns valley area may be intermittent. those water main break is believed to have been caused by the august 24th earthquake. one resident says she is still amazed they are still feeling the impact 2 and a half months later. >> this is crazy to have it this late, which means anything can happen anytime. >> a long as i have my water i'm okay. >> now again, the other water main break crews are working on this morning is near highway 12 and 29 it was 36-inch main that burst yesterday. it's exact location on the property of a napa sanitation district. it is nowhere you would see it

driving on the highway and work on that repair isn't expected to cause any traffic delays like work here on laurel and brown valley. now, there have been between 150 and 180 water main breaks in napa believed to have been caused by that earthquake. crews are working on repairing 2 lines this morning. the latest earthquake related to the break caused by an earthquake. hopefully the city of napa will get that federal assistance it needs in an effort to help pay for those repairs. thank you. 2 maintenance workers were injured after a gas explosion. they say the lines were turned off. on thursday night they decided to restore service. 8:00 an explosion happened when the workers were checking a heater in an unused classroom.

nobody else was hurt but parents still rushed to the school. >> i heard they were going to just put them back in class, i was like, no, man. i'm going to come get you guys. >> school officials say one of the workers were badly injured in in the explosion. the fire martial and the school district are conducting a joint investigation into the incident. the police say they arrested a man cooking hash oil in his house just feet from an 11 month old boy. they responded to a home on november 11th after getting calls about an odor. they found an active hash oil lab. they seized the equipment which was hundreds of butane gas cans. they arrested him for making the hash oil and possession of $20,000 worth of oil and marijuana. >> an exceptional mind as well as someone who never outgrew his inner child some of the descriptions of san francisco tech worker as we've been reporting he went missing on halloween, there was no sign of

him until this week when a ferry captain spotted a body in the bay while an official identification could take weeks, his family says they believe that it's him based upon the clothing and wallet. a few hundred friends and family members packed a church for a memorial service. some mourners had to wipe away tears. his friends included colleagues in the community and former stanford classmates one of his brothers says he lived life to its fullest. he lived life through the fullest through his passions. he was a talented musician, piano player and singer, lover of technology, fitness fitness. and they say they do not believe he took his own life. bill cosby's upcoming appearance has been canceled after a growing uproar over allegations of rape.

yesterday his representative confirmed the cancelation but would not say why. now in past decades the actor had been accused of sexually assaulting women but was never criminally charged. earlier one of the accusers opened up about the incident that occurred in the 1980's. 2 women have resigned in connection to racially charged comments allegedly made by one of the women. in a university meeting last february, foundation board member was accused of implying that she didn't have what it takes to succeed. it is an accusation she denied. the school's vice president for university advancement was criticized for not objecting to the comment at the meeting, while both women did step down yesterday, the school is still examing the results of an investigation into the incident which did spark several protestst. a 17-year-old oakland boy who set another teenagers skirt on fire has been sentenced to 7 years in prison. the sentence was agreed upon as

part of a plea deal. richard thomas set sasha's skirt on fire on a transit bus last november. sasha, who identifies as agender suffered serious burns on both legs, thomas' attorney says thomas wanted to give a statement but that he wasn't feeling well his cousin spoke on his behalf. >> he just wanted them to forgive him for what had happened and just the big misunderstanding he apologizes, i know i could see it in his eyes that he is genuinely sorry. sasha fully recovered and living away at college. in a few months the judge will reevaluate the progress and do the same again next summer if everything looks good his sentence will be reduced. a sheriff's deputy and 2 correctional officers are facing criminal charges accused of smuggling items inside the county jail. the 3 men are veteran employees with combined 60 years of

service. the officer say cused of giving an inmate oxycotin in exchange for cash. juan lspez and michael are also accused of smuggling cell phones for cash to the same inmate, a man who the da says is a known gang member. >> if in fact these allegations are true, then we absolutely, we absolutely want the district attorney's office to prosecute these individuals, you know, to the fullest extent. >> deputy lspez recently ran for sheriff as a write-in candidate and lost. they say he is being targeted because of his campaign. if convicted, the 3 men could face up to 5 years in prison. the california highway patrol officer accused of stealing photos from female duisuspects has pleaded not guilty. he is counts unauthorized

accounts of copying computer data. his not guilty plea does not mean he is denying the charges. earlier he resigned after admitted to forwarding nude photos from the phones of women under arrests. 2 basketball coaches one from berkeley and another from richmond are teaming up to get at risk teenagers office the streets it is called operation athletics. it comes one week after a high school basketball player's 16- year-old rodny frazier was killed in front of his home. berkeley's basketball coach says the plan involves having the police help them to identify at-risk youth they can target. >> it is not going to be easy, some of these kids are addicted to drugs, they are addicted to the life, they are addicted to the streets, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. the coaches say their plan includes teaching the teenagers there is a world of opportunity beyond their neighborhoods. >> southern california lawmaker are hoping los angeles will

they say it is facing a shortage of road salt. the snow in western new york has already causing a number of accidents as well. some roadways are not getting plowed due to a contract dispute between 2 mayoring counties. they say more snow is expected in the coming days. a 4 month old kitten in colorado has a second chance at life after nearly freezing to death. a woman found the kitten on thursday covered in snow and suffering from hypothermia. she says she wasn't sure if the cat was still alive, so she put it on a heating pad and took the kitten to the local animal shelter. the veterinary staff put the kitten on warm iv fluids to get her temperature up. even after about 45 minutes she, her temperature still was not registering on the thermmometer. >> it took more than an hour for the young kitten to start perking up. she was rescued just in time because she was found out in the snow they decided to name

november 15th. i'm math claudine wong. is this the clear and cold forecast it looks like? >> we actually started out more clear than where we were at this moment. we have high clouds moving in and i'll show you in the satellite view. let's look at san jose this morning, a look over 101. it's an easy commute as you can see. folks zooming by. no patchy fog to speak of over parts of the south bay. in factors the only area of concern this morning was santa rosa. on to the satellite view where again, as i was mentioning a moment ago. over the last hour or so, we have watched mid and high level clouds flow in over the north bay, and at this point, santa rosa reporting partly sunny skies. so for today and actually for your entire weekend, we are going to be in and out of these mid and high level clouds. what that means is the filtered sunshine, the transparent skies at times, and these are coming in from the north. we have a ridge right about in

here, impossible to tell, but we have a ridge that is sort of pushing the storm track to the north. we're not going to see any rain, but we have clouds again spilling over the ridge. that's what's in place today as well as tomorrow. temperature wise, we have seen a rebound in areas like santa rosa, napa, in the upper 40s and low 50s. 50 degrees redwood city. low 50s in walnut creek. as we get into the afternoon, clouds will be sweeping across the bay area, in and out, sun and clouds for today, and uniform on the temps. a lot of 60s out there. a few mid to upper 60s for inland areas. i'm going to put numbers on the screen. i'll tell you how long the trend is going to last coming up. more fallout in napa from that 6.0 earthquake that shook the city. the problem, water pipes across the city are rupturing. allie rasmus is live for us in napa where a crew has resumed work on one of the broken

lines. >> reporter: well, we are at laurel and browns valley road, and the line here broke about a week ago, and crews are still working to repair it. in the meantime, while this work goes on, residents in the eastern brown valley area are being asked to limit their water use until ten this morning and avoid watering their lawns. the supervisor out here says they have to special order a 2- foot section of pipe, and it has arrived and now later today they will have welders here to put it in place. water service for customers in the brown valley area may be intermittent until the work is complete, and it's not expected to be complete until next friday at the earliest. some residents we talked to this morning who live next to the construction site say they are impressed with the repair work which they say sometimes goes on around the clock. >> sometimes they're there all night. and it's been, well, i've gotten to know them all, and they're really nice guys. so every day i got out and and and them, what are you doing

today, and so i don't mind the noise even though it goes on all night. >> reporter: now, the other repair work is happening this morning at near highway 12 and 29. a 36-inch main there broke yesterday afternoon. the impact location of that pipe break is on the o -- of the property is on the napa sanitation district. so it's not anywhere you would see it traveling on the o -- highway. both this break and the one near highway 12 and 29 are both believed to have been caused by the august 24th napa earthquake, the latest in more than 150 water main breaks that have happened since that august earthquake. live in napa. allie rasmus ktvu channel 2 news. tickets are on sale for wrestle mania at levi stadium, and fans turned out for an

good year. under state law, they can only harvest male crabs that measure 6 1/4 inches. this season they're going to earn 3 bucks a pound. amazon is looking to hire experienced drone pilots to develop the drone delivery service. candidates should have five years of experience flying drones and a pilot's certificate is preferred. the type of drones are currently not allowed for private use. but federal aviation rules are expected to change sometime next year. amazon is calling its drones octocopters and will be used to deliver small packages. a chp officer and a deputy are recovering after crash ago patrol vehicle in hillsburg. it happened on 101 north of the central hills bury avenue exit. the chp officer was driving and the deputy was in the passenger seat. the unmarked patrol car was going 70 miles per hour when it swerved to avoid hitting

furniture on the highway. >> they took evasive action. it appears they have hit the furniture, spun off the road, hit a tree, and spun around. >> the chp officer suffered a large cut on his head. the deputy injured his legs. a back up plane from oakland to seattle arrived at seatac airport at 2:02 this morning after the original flight struck a bird. alaska airlines flight 349 took off from oakland about 6:45 but the plane hit a bird or flock of birds 20 minutes later. one passenger describes what he saw when hay touched down. >> there were lots of emergency vehicles waiting in case they had a problem landing because they didn't have their instruments the same they had before. they weren't willing to go to seattle because the instruments weren't working. >> the original flight carried 144 passengers, 6 crew members. everyone was okay and while many passengers took the later  flight, some are flying to seattle this morning. a 19-year-old man is under

arrest accused of trash ago police car after the giant's world series victory last month. the vehicle sustained $10,000 in damage. he faces one count of vandalism, and this is the first arrest in connection with the vandalism. 28 vehicles were also damaged after the world series. five people received minor injuries after a muni trolley set off a three-car collision. that accident happened about 6:30 last night. this is all on church and market streets. you can see from the video, the damage appears to be where the trolley rear ended the silver suv. the fire department said that did set off a chain reaction which involved two more cars. the cause of the accident is under investigation. the jack london square ferry terminal in oakland will be closed today and tomorrow to refurbish the dock. they are asked to go to the alameda main street ferry terminal instead. it's part of an ongoing project to install a new passageway and

relocating and repairing a security gate. it will reopen for the monday morning commute. tomorrow morning, officials will mark the anniversary of the opening of the caldecott tunnels since the tunnel opened ollas year. people driving between contra cost that and alameda -- contra costa and alameda have saved money. it was the largest recipient of the american recovery and reinvestment act. it features emergency exits and a state of the art fire life safety system. the area outside the 4th bore will be landscaped next year as part of the final stage of the project. work has started to replace deteriorating joints in the upper deck of the western span of the bay bridge. caltrans says crews are going to work overnight every day between monday night and saturdays mornings and it's going to happen for the next two months. crews are going to use fast setting concrete instead of steel plates. you'll recall from the video when those plates were installed last month, they did

have to be removed after the lift had people slamming on their brakes, and that did cause gridlock. the new repairs are going to cost nearly $3 million. we are getting a new look at what the movable barrier on the golden gate bridge is going to look like. we can show you a map, hard to see on the bottom of the screen, but it's going to extend north and south of the bridge. we're going to look at that guy, the barrier transfer machine as it drives over the barrier. watch as you can see it moves those pieces underneath that vehicle diagonally so they can move them over to another lane. the bridge is set to close the weekend of january 10th so the crew can fall the new barrier. a marin county man is being called a hero after he saved a stranger from his burning car. it happened yesterday morning. a 60-year-old driver passed out and careened several hundred yards crashing into a fence. the car had just started to smoke when a man driving to work on 101 saw the car and

christmas has arrived in new york city, especially along 5 5th avenue a winter wonderland is being constructed along that popular new york city street. a company called american christmas is responsible for those decorations. and ironically, the company's owner say as he doesn't do much decorating at home.

>> exactly, i was going to point that out as well. not as bright as it was just about a half hour, 45 minutes ago, and i'll explain why. and i'm glad we have this shot to explain to you what is coming our way for the weekend. giving a live look at the beautiful golden gate bridge. cars just cruising by, no fog to deal with, along the golden gate this morning, and most repairs that we're dealing with a -- areas that we're dealing with a little bit are clear. and so that to be aware of. those mid-and high level clouds that you saw in the shot coming our way from the north, spilling into the bay area over the course of the weekend. partly sunny at times, mostly sunny at times, and we'll just see this as we continue through today and tomorrow and back it up and show you exactly what's going on here. we have a ridge that is beginning to build off the west coast, and that is pushing the storm track further to the north, unfortunately. we're not going to see any rain over the next couple of days and we're a few days out from that, but what we are seeing is

those high clouds spill over that ridge, and that is why we will, again, be in and out of partly cloudy skies for your entire weekend. i'm going to run you through the next few days. bold letters, next chance for rain on wednesday. we're going to be dry from now until tuesday night. at some point, you can depict the ridge over the pacific by monday morning. notice how it just sort of has that curvature there. it's not until tuesday into wednesday, and allows the rain to move into the bay area. not the case anymore. we will be tracking for you. it could change between now and tuesday night and wednesday, but again, it doesn't look as juicy as it was earlier this the week. right now, outside our doors between partly cloudy and partly sunny skies, temperatures in the upper 40s in areas like santa rosa, san francisco 60 degrees upper 50s in oakland and mid-50s in san jose. temperatures today, just a tad warmer than yesterday. if you have that cloud cover

this morning, crews are back in napa repairing two water main breaks. ktvu's allie rasmus is out there where people are still facing problems two months after the big earthquake. welcome back to mornings on 2. i'm mike mibach. >> i'm claudine wong. first we're going to start you off with weather on saturday morning, and ante-- can't really complain, i mean, i guess we can always complain but not going to because it's nice outside. we just can't get rid of this nice weather. it's hard to complain about it, especially now that the weekend is here, we want to be outdoors

having some fun. giving you a live look into oakland where we have a mix of mid and high level clouds out there this morning. i'll show you from a different vantage point. you can see how widespread these mid and high level clouds have become. we're now partly sunny. the type of o loud that will be in place -- type of clouds that will be place for today and tomorrow, bringing the soft sunlight, clouds we don't mind so much. not the very thick gray stuff. we have this ridge that is developing off the west coast here, and you can sort of see how it just pushes those clouds right into the bay area, clouds sliding up over o the ridge for the weekend. we're going to be dry, mild, in and out of those sun and clouds. temperatures right now in the 50s. 55 walnut creek. 57 in oakland and 54 for novato. upper 40s in santa rosa. still trailing behind most of us. for the afternoon today, low to mid-50s from pacifica to san

francisco. 65 for oakland, hay ward, upper 60s expected for our inland communities. 67 in antioch. today, slightly warmer than yesterday. tomorrow will be slightly warmer than today. i'll talk about how long the trend will last, and the next opportunity for rain coming. happening right now, napa residents being told to reduce their water consumption. the problem, busted water lines caused by the august earthquake. allie rasmus is live at 1 street in napa, dug out by a crew trying to repair one of those ruptured pipes. allie. >> reporter: this is laurel and browns valley road. a water main broke about a week ago, and crews are working to repair it. in fact right behind us we saw crews just bring this in. this is a piece of that pipe that is going to be replaced this morning. let's turn the camera around and show you the scene what they're working on. while this is going on, for about a week thousand, residents are being asked to limit their water use until 10 this morning, and also from 5

until 9:00 p.m. this evening. the supervisor here says they have to special order a 2-foot section of pipe, and now that it has arrived they have welders to put it all in place. the repair work isn't expected to be complete until friday the 21st at the earliest. in the meantime, customers will still have water but service will be intermittent. this water main break is believed to have been caused by the august 24th earthquake that happened here. one resident we talked to this morning says she's still amazed they're still feeling the impacts of the earthquake two and a half months later. >> this is pretty crazy to have this this late, which means anything can happen at any time. as long as i have my water, i'm okay. >> reporter: now, the other repair work happening this morning is near highway 12 and 29. a 36-inch main there broke yesterday afternoon. a delayed reaction also of the august earthquake here in napa. an impact location of that pipe break is on the property of the

napa sanitation district. it's not anywhere you would expect to see it from the highway. it's also not expected to impact traffic, unlike the water main break here, which has brown valley reduced to one lane. but all together, there are believed to have been 150 water main breaks that have happened in the city of napa all because of that earthquake back in august. live in napa. allie rasmus ktvu channel 2 news. the road to recovery, still a long one there in napa and sonoma county. allie, thank you. >> two maintenance workers from vallejo high school were injured after a natural gas explosion. school officials say the gas lines were closed off after the earthquake. at 8:00, explosion happened while the maintenance workers were checking on a heater in unused classroom. no one else is hurt. some parents still rushed to the school. >> i heard they were just going to put them back in class. i was like; no, that doesn't make sense. i'm going to get you guys.

>> one of the workers was badly injured in the explosion. so far no word on his condition this morning. the state fire marshal, a vallejo fire department and the school district are working together conducting a joint investigation into the incident. gilroy police arrested a man cooking hash oil in his house where he lived with his 11-month-old baby. police say they went to 4th 4th and rosana streets on november 11th because they got alls about a strong o -- odor. they seized the equipment, which included hundreds of butane gas cans and cooking devices. the suspect lived in the house with his wife, young son and father. police arrested the suspect 31- year-old renee for making hash oil and for possession of $20,000 worth of oil and marijuana. an exceptional mind as well as someone who never outgrew his inner child. just some of the descriptions of san francisco tech worker dan hau.

he went missing on halloween. there was no sign of him until this week. an official identification could take weeks, his family says they believe it's him based on clothing and wallet. a few hundred friends and family members packed a mission district church last height for a memorial service. some of the mourners there as you can see had to wife away tears. his friends including colleagues in the local tech community and former stanford classmates. one of his brothers said he lived life to its fullest. >> he lived life to the fullest. he was a talented musician, piano player and singer, avid love of technology, and video game enthusiast. >> his parents say there are many unanswered questions about his death. they say he had no history of mental illness and they do not believe he took his own life. a sheriff's deputies and two correctional officers are facing criminal charges accused of smuggling items inside the san mateo county jail.

the three men are veteran employees with a combined 60 years of service. correctional officer george ismael is accused of giving an inmate ox on tin in exchange -- oxycontin in exchange for crash. and michael del carlo is accused of smuggling cell phones to cash to the same inmate, a known bang member. >> if in fact these allegations are true, this enwe absolutely want -- we absolutely want the district attorney's office to prosecute these individuals to the full extent. >> his attorney says his clean is being targeted by the sheriff and district attorney because of his campaign. if convicted the three men could face up to five years in prison. the california highway patrol officer accused of stealing explicit photos from female dui suspects has pleaded

not guilty. sean harrington is facing two counts of unauthorized access to a computer, and copying computer data. harrington's attorney says the not guilty plea does not mean he's denying the charges. earlier this month, harrington resigned from the chp after admitting to. a man has been sentenced to 7 years in prison. the sentence was agreed upon as part of a plea deal. richard thomas says 18-year-old sasha fleischman's skirt on the bus. sasha suffered serious burns on both legs. thomas wanted to give a statement but wasn't feeling well so his cousin spoke on his behalf. >> he just wants him to forgive him for what happened, and it's a big misunderstanding and he

apologizes. i know i can see it in his eyes that he's genuinely sorry for what he has done. >> sasha has fully recovered and is living away at college. in three months, the judge will evaluate thomas' educational and rehabilitative progress and do the same again next summer. if everything looks good, his sentence could be reduced. two top women at san jose state university have resigned in connection with to racially charged comments allegedly made by one of those women. in a university meeting last february, foundation board member wanda ginner is accuse of implying that latinas didn't have what it takes to succeed, a an accusation she denies. the school's vice president rebecca duke was criticized for not objecting to the comment at the meeting. both women stepped down yesterday, and the school is examining the resultings of an investigation into the incident which sparked several campus protests. california's put new rules in place to protect doctors nurses and other health care workers treating patients with

ebola. the state updated its guidelines for hospital supervised protective equipment that covers all parts of the body. hospitals have to update plans to include how they would prevent exposure to ebola. the new regulations expand upon general guidelines issued in october. virgin america made its debut on wall street. it appears as though shares reached unexpected heights. they were soaring better than 30%. virgin america is the first to go public since may of 2011. it flies primarily out of los angeles and san francisco but has plans to expand to more cities across the country later this year. >> as far as expansion we have a lot of opportunities, we're 10% of the market in san francisco. 6% in los angeles. we're only 1.3% of the entire domestic industry. we have a lot of opportunities in front of us. >> virgin america say it's proud to be a hip alternative to other airlines. the airline is worth slightly more than a billion dollars.

two basketball coaches, one from berkeley high and richmond high are teaming up to get at risk teenagers off the street. high school basketball player, rodney frazier was shot and killed in front of his house. the plan involves having the police help them to identify at risk youth they can help. >> it's not going to be easy. some of these kids are addicted to drugs. they're addicted to the life. they're addicted to the streets, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try. >> the coaches say their plan includes teaching the teenagers that there's a world of opportunity beyond their neighborhood. southern california lawmakers are hoping los angeles will host the 2024 summer olympics. according to the los angeles times, four local congressional members sent a letter to the u.s. olympic committee. well, in that letter, they called los angeles a vibrant and diverse city. that embodies the highest

the official start of winter may be six weeks away, but states are seeing plenty of snow, 7 inches in parts of boy see idaho. k through 12 have been closed. colorado, michigan, kentucky have seen a lot of snowfall. the state highway department in kentucky says it's already facing a shortage of road salt. the snow in western new york is already caused a number of accidents there, and some roadways in that area are not getting plowed due to a contract dispute between two neighboring counties. forecasters say more snow expected in the coming days. a 4-month-old kitten in colorado has the second chance at life and nearly freezing to death. the woman found the kitten on thursday, suffering from hypothermia. she put it on a heating pad and

took the kid to the local animal shelter. the veterinary staff put the kitten on warm iv fluids to get her temperature up. >> even after about 45 minutes, her temperature still was not registering on the thermometer. still below 90 degrees. >> it took more than an hour for the young kitten to finally start perking up. she was rescued just in time because she was found out in the snow. they decided to name her elsa based on the character from the movie frozen. it may be chilly outside but firefighters from texas who took off their shirts to raise money for pet adoption. the group beared their top pads in a calendar called heartthrobs, a different firefighter posing with a sheltered dog up for adoption. all the proceeds two to the austin dog rescue. if you want to help out a pet and buy your own calendar, find them on sale at the austin dog

rescue facebook page. on tuesday, orinda is going to be looking at a proposal to put license plate readers at the entrances and exits to the city. it's not the first time that technology has been used in the bay area city. every time it comes up, it seems to spark a debate about privacy versus security. >> in the small town of orinda, the conversation is just getting started. >> could be a good idea to have. >> we are about to hear a lot more. >> which seem to be hot spots for most communities. >> reporter: it's a question of am as -- cameras. cameras that would watch who comes and who goes. >> it's also an invasion of privacy. >> reporter: the $10,000 cameras would scan the license plate of every car. >> it's a camera that takes a picture of a license plate. >> this allows the officer to be advised immediately if the arkansas is stolen or -- if the car is stolen or the license plate is wanted. >> reporter: if the bad guys

know there are cameras, they will choose to stay away or if they come to town, officers get help solving or preventing a crime. the question with cameras r do you put them. highway 24 cuts right through the middle of orinda. the chief says that area is a hot spot, and the chief insists the camera idea isn't crime driven. >> i just did a five year study of crime in orinda and we're on a downward trend. >> reporter: hehe says it's community driven and a neighborhood group brought the idea to him, tuesday night he'll bring it to the council. >> it will be on the agenda, a policy party. >> reporter: to the council and residents. >> i'm not sure. there's pluses and minuses to it. >> reporter: the conversation is just getting started. >> well, the cost of those o programs or these proposals depends on the camera each city wants and piedmont, 670,000,

but that city put in cameras at 15 different entry points. last summer, fremont also approved a $300,000 plan. and and it was a very hot debate. i remember when the cameras got brought to tiburon. >> yes, they're just getting started. the chief says he's going to give all the information but he will be giving information having worked in tiburon and piedmont and the other cities that have tried it. let's turn it over to rosemary. how are we looking out there. >> looking good. in and out of clouds, partly sunny skies in areas this morning. and we'll be in and out the remainder of the weekend. let's take a look at downtown oakland, a beautiful start, and you can see there for yourself, mid and high level clouds in the picture. these clouds are coming in from the north, not going to see any rain, at least not for the weekend. we will eventually, and i'll show you that as well. but here's a snapshot of the satellite and the radar. you can see northern california right in here. crescent city reporting a

little bit of rain, but we have a ridge that's building right about here, and what that does is pushes that storm track to the north. so it's not going to be sinking into the bay area until we can get that ridge sort of broken down, and that won't come until it looks like tuesday. so between now and then, morning fog, mild afternoons, ridge in place, and again, clouds just spilling over that ridge and into the bay area. mid and high level loud in store for today, as well as tomorrow. the next chance of showers tuesday night into wednesday. and it looks like anywhere from a quarter inch to half inch. earlier in the week, it looked like more, a pretty robust system. that has dwindled out. we have time for that maybe to change around and let's hope it does because we could use the rain. outside the doors, under partly cloudy skies, 57 in owned. low 50s in napa. upper 50s in redwood city as well as mountain view, and 55 degrees outsided door.

that's been up for 70 years may get taken down or renamed. the carlos club, neon sienite bayoud in 1947. when the bar was sold a few months ago, people who lived in the area started to get concerned that new ownership would get rid of the sign. they put together a change.org petition to make sure that did not happen and so far they have collected more than 800 signatures. time now 9:50. it's a brand new look for the golden state warriors, coming up, how awesome the team is going to wear these alternate jerseys. and traditional polling places may become a thing of the past, at least right here in california. the reason last week's elections could push forward an all mail voting system. ♪

according to the sacramento bee, it would be the first time more than half of the state's elect rate voted absentee. election officials in support of an all mail system says it would save money. washington, colorado and bohn, right now require all of their elections to be run entirely by mail. some non-violent inmates are being released from state counties and jails because of proposition 47. yesterday, a contra costa judge granted the release of 13 inmates. public defenders are praising the move while bay area district attorneys have concern. >> california has taken a brave step forward. >> misdemeanors don't get significant time, they don't get supervision, they will be back out there committing. i'm concerned about that causing our property crimes to go explode up ward. >> authorities say it could take months for judges to get through the cases of inmates
