restrictions. >> and more rain is on the way. thank you. 12-year-old girl is missing and police and family are searching two cities for her tonight. she disappeared a week and a half ago. ktvu's john sasaki joins us live from san francisco -- live from san francisco. there have been sightings since she disappeared? >> reporter: police are still searching for this girl. she disappeared november 10 on her way to school, on a bus. she never made it to class and hasn't been in contact with her family. she has been spotted in san francisco and oakland. and possibly the victim of human trafficking. in san francisco she was seen in the mission district and international boulevard. both areas are known for prostitution activity. when she was spotted in oakland she was seen with a tall female with a light complexion. >> what the investigators do is

they do work throughout their days off, nights, weekends, to try obtain the most information possible to locate these individuals that are victims of crimes or missing people. our goal is to find them and get them back safe. >> reporter: san francisco police say have 300 missing persons cases every month. most are resolved quickly. investigators heard she has been known to associate with a particular man and they are trying to track him down. >> it is helpful for us to concentrate our efforts on those areas to locate her. if we have anybody in the public who knows the whereabouts contact us immediately. >> reporter: i talked by phone with her father, he was handing out flyers in the area where she was spotted trying to raise awareness about the case. the family is desperate to get

her back. >> john, thank you. it is day three of a student protest at university of california at berkeley against tuition hikes and it is expected to continue through the weekend. students and activists are camping out, they have been there since wednesday. the uc board of regents approving a 5% increase for the next 5 years. up to 5%. they say the students protest went end till they change their mind. they are also calling for a walk out from classes on monday. the university of california is working to immigrant students impacted by president obama's new order. they are planning to offer six classes. san francisco and santa cruz are two of the campuses that will offer legal services.

complete bay area news coverage continues right now, this is ktvu channel 2 news at 5:00 p.m. a surprise for drivers drivers, flooding on the lower deck of the bay bridge last night. we wanted to know if something more than rain was at work to cause the flooding. ktvu's paul chambers talked with caltrans. >> reporter: high above the bay bridge and over the area where the flooding happened last night in the tunnel. there were no major accidents but the flooding is out of their control. >> we can't control mother nature. if there is a down pour in a quick period of time we can't absolutely be sure as towhat that amount of -- to what that amount of rain will do. . >> reporter: the heavy down

pour caused a pool in the tunnels. caltrans says it happened between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. thursday night. it is expected when the area gets a lot of rain at once. caltrans says there were no issues with the bridge or the drainage system and by the crews showed up it was over. >> we addressload concerns. safety is our -- addressed all concerns. safety our priority. i wanted to make sure there is property drainage, all inspections have taken place. >> reporter: caltrans addressed another issue that caused flooding near the westbound exit, a drainage back up there. crews were cleaning that up and they will monitor the situation with more wet weather in the forecast. >> paul, that is a-year-old but this was the first significant rain we have seen since it

opened. >> that is true. they said there was no problems with the bridge or the drainage. it was just a lot of rain coming in at one time. had no place to go. >> mother nature. thank you. some san francisco zoo keepers are saying the death of the baby gorilla at the zoo this month could have been prevented. 5 zoo keepers say workers had expressed safety concerns about the enclosure where baby died. the exhibit has a flaw. problems with the doors and was under staffed. the zoo says a worker didn't follow protocol and failed to keep her hand on an emergency stop button for the door. the baby was crushed to death by the door. a teacher has been placed on paid leave after video showed him trying to drag a
