show us the most epic challenge yet. >> i want to see how much damage you can do to the pumpkin. >> we can do a lot of damage. and a peek inside the bird leaves a woman wondering -- >> how is that even possible? >> what she finds that blew her mind. >> ah! >> is she serious? >> doesn't it seem like a bad day in class? >> she missed all of the class? ♪ it sucks to be separated from your family. take it from me. but it must be really weird for this guy, because christopher byrnes, he was sent over to the middle east. he was supposed to be away for eight months, going off to serve his country. but two months after he left, his wife gave birth to his first baby little girl. so, he's coming back to meet a new member in his family, his 6-month-old daughter. all the families are kind of getting ready. eventually, the plane pulled up. [ cheers and applause ] ♪ everyone's looking super excited. everybody's waiting to see their husbands and wives and brothers and sisters and moms and dads.

instead of just seeing how far pumpkins can fly, now we're going to see how much damage we can do to a pumpkin. >> do people come and build their own machines to do this? >> yeah, these guys are backyard engineers. they're working on these machines year round, but you know, they have full-time jobs. you have lawyers, you have dentists, and they, like, put tons of money into these machines just to come out to this cornfield once a year and say they were able to throw the pumpkin the farthest. >> is it hard for you guys to convince somebody to destroy a 1,000-pound pumpkin? because people grow those for competitions for money. >> you'd be surprised with the people who have subscribed for no other reason than that we asked them to. >> if you had more than one shot for that 1,000-pound pumpkin what went into it? >> there was a lot of preparation and this was for the world record. >> you're the world record! >> this was going to be in the guinness book of world records as the biggest pumpkin ever thrown. >> failure is an option, it's written on our hats. so, if it went horribly wrong,
