bay area is also bringing a lot of snow to the sierra. snow is falling at higher elevations at elevations such as 6500 feet and above like this area. a half dozen ski resorts are open and they are reporting up to 2 feet of fresh snow. if you are heading to the mountains, pack some extra time and don't forget your chains. right now, chain controls are in effect on some mountain passes. >> a lot of snow there. great to see. a lot of rain here. great to see as well. let's bring in our chief meteorologist, bill martin, just what we need. >> yeah, it is just what we need and getting a nice break right now with more rain overnight into the morning hours. and so, tomorrow morning's commute is going to be a wet one yet again. let's take a look at some of the impressive rain fall. these aren't places in the coastal hills. these are cities, san francisco over an inch and a half. san jose, almost an inch and a half. these are significant. when you get that kind of rain fall in those urban centers, big deal. that's what we got and it's great news. we have more than that in the coastal hills and the hills of northern california.

6:21 pm
50s. subtropical air mass. high snow levels, but significant rain. that's exactly what we are seeing. i think the story tomorrow morning, i think the story for the morning crew will be boy, that woke me up and boy, there's a lot of standing water on the roadways. by the time we get in here tomorrow, i think it will be scattered showers and a thundershower in random area. >> they will be busy tomorrow morning. >> it was busy overnight in the morning here. >> crazy this morning. >> all right, bill, thank you. well one of the big ten's high profile football coaches is out of a job tonight. >> also, will the warriors have the splash brothers in their lineup? mark has their game time status right after the break. for over 60,000 california foster children,
