to happen again. 60-year-old david renzel was shot to death as he walk on a trail in the huckelberry regional reserve. police say he was shot three times. authorities released sketches of three persons of interest and today released new details of the crime. >> his credit cards were used on the 28 of november in downtown oakland. a friend say it is family is not seeking vengeance but wants to prevent this from happening to anyone else. >> somebody out there does know something, somebody knows these guys, they're walking around in somebody's community right now and there's people probably watching this who know exactly who they are. >> investigators say a homicide is very rare. in the last 10 years there's been 153 reported crimes but most of them minor such as car break-ins. new at 5:00, the last minute shopping rush is on and with it concern about a rash of robberies in san francisco in the past 24 hours. the crimes happened all over

the city without any apparent connection. but it's prompting an increasing focus on shopper safety just a few days before christmas. david stevenson looked into the robbery and what police are doing. >> reporter: robberies happen all year round, but they're particularly a problem during holiday seasons during this one when shoppers are distracted or in a rush. >> reporter: among the sights and sounds in san francisco's union square today. safe shopper police patrols keeping an eye on gift buyers in a year of spikes. between monday morgue -- monday morning and this morning, there were 11 robberies. at the cable car turn around a 67-year-old woman was robbed at this atm just after 8:00. >> she was at the atm trying to get some cash. somebody came behind her, knocked her down and was able to get the cash out of the atm

mcdonald and the alleged victim were all at mcdonalds house. once the 49ers learned of this sexual assault claim they dropped ray mcdonald from the team. ktvu's sports director mark ibanez is here with more. >> reporter: it's one of those situations where you think the 49ers may not have another issue to discuss it always seems to happen. there's a warren z. vaughn song called bring money, guns and -- he was included in this latest controversy with regard to ray mcdonald because he said he was there and it was indicated by the alleged victim that he possibly was drinking with ray mcdonald and her on the night in question.

un. meantime north korea lost internet access for a second day in a row today and u.s. officials are offering little insight on to whether the u.s. was involved. >> ask the north koreans if their internet wasn't working i cannot speculate why that was or if it wasn't. i can't confirm that it wasn't. check with them, they are certainly the right people to speak to this. >> reporter: the north korean government denies it had anything to do with the initial cyber attack but has also praised the hackers for exposing the controversial film. caltrans this morning expressed a freeway sign memorializing four oakland police officers killed line out of duty in 2009. the sign had recently been vandalized. highway patrol units closed the freeway to complete projects. there are calls for peace and unity tonight in new york city as criticism of the mayor

grows in the wake of the deadly ambush of two new york police officers. reporter david lee miller has more. >> new york city mayor bill deblasion visited the makeshift memorial tuesday in brooklyn honoring the two new york city police officers shot and killed execution style. it was here that officer liu and ramos were ambushed by the lone gunman. critics say deblasio has filtered a -- he talked about improving relations between new yorkers and the police. >> we have to keep working to bring police and community closer together. we have to work for that more perfect union. >> reporter: despite the mayor's call for a moratorium on street protest until both officers are laid to rest. groups say anti police rallies will continue. a coalition of activists at a

hawaiian islands. this is what it looked like when we were getting all that rain the last week the week before now. now it's well to the north. and it outlines the jet stream. we're on the south side of that thing. so what was going to happen is one of these systems is going to tweak through as we head into tomorrow afternoon. we have a pretty good chance for very light showers in the afternoon. those showers probably spread as far south as fremont almost into san jose as we head into the afternoon compute. -- commute. i don't know if many people are out. but christmas eve if you're celebrating all that. there's a chance for showers on the commute. 58 for napa, 63 in oakland. the fog will be there tomorrow morning. because this will all happen in the afternoon. overnight hours, it's going to get cool. the fog reforms. we had a bunch of it this morning. it's back and then for the second half of the day the high clouds come in. and when the high clouds come in. the rain comes in or the showers come in. so mostly sunny and warm.

candle stick park is raising concern for neighbors in the area. according to reports, many people living near the stick are concerned about the dust plume the implosion would create. plaintiffs fighting against gay marriage bans in four states are now hoping the supreme court will hear their cases. gay couples in kentucky, michigan ohio and tennessee rushed to get their legal papers turned in before the high court decides next month which cases they'll hear this spring. if the supreme court agrees to hear their appeal, there would be enough time for arguments and a possible decision on state bans by late june. wall street entered new territory today the dow closed above 18,000 for the first time. it was the fifth straight day of gains after the feds announced last week that it had no plans to boost interest

a san jose fire station forced to close over concerns about mold. today the firefighter's union are saying these problems should have been addressed much much sooner. azenith smith is live and has learned this station has had problems in the past. >> reporter: yes in fact, two years ago, this station had plumbing issues at the time the department found it was not a hazard. now the union questions whether other stations had the same problem. >> it's a constant problem the fire department has with mold

in these older stations. >> reporter: a spokesperson for the firefighter department says so far there's no confirmation of snow in the station but the department moved firefighters as a precaution. earlier was saw firefighters pick up their belongings. this isn't the first time concerns over mold were brought up. >> about two years ago there were some plumbing problems in the kitchen. they thought they had mold. >> reporter: he says lab tests showed more mold outside the building than inside and because it wasn't airborne it didn't cause a risk back then. repipeing was recommended but didn't happen. since the mayor remodel of this station is scheduled next month. >> what ends up happening is a level of band aid solution. address the minimum and move ton the next thing. >> reporter: not only does the union worry about the health air safety but argues that responds times will be longer. >> we're already very concerned over long response times because we don't have enough personnel out.

forecast. i've got coastal fog that's just offshore in san francisco. we're going to see the valley form just like it did wednesday morning. plenty of valley fog especially out toward davis. south of sacramento and down into modesto. it'll be back. and then the system sweeps through at around 2:00 or 3:00, the fog comes through. overnight lows in the 40s look for the valley fog. that's the take away. in the morning commute, look for the valley fog. that was the issue for san jose this morning. by 11:00 fog is gone then this system comes in. let's start you off with the computer model. there's the coastal fog and valley fog. you're going to have fog and clouds kind of everywhere. in the early morning hours look at that. tons of coverage. now you have valley fog merging with some coastal fog in the bay area region. there's going to be travel concerns. when you get the coastal fog and valley fog it gets right on the deck.

that's typically some of the bad visibility you get on the bay bridge we'll be tracking that for you. now, you see the wind shift, everything starts coming this way. here we have at 1:00. watch how this all comes through. there's two to three:00. it moves very rapidly out of the south bay. it couldn't drop more than an inch. oakland you have showers at 3:00. afternoon commute if you're driving. 4:00 it's almost out in san jose. it's a small mover. i wouldn't call it a storm. but it's enough to throw a little wrench into the works of what it's turned out to be almost a perfect day today and it'll be a nice day tomorrow too until you get to that 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 range when the showers come in. then they go away. and the ground is wet. and you're going to see fog in all of those inland valleys. 61 in san m ateo. those are the forecasts for

a mother reached out to two investigates. she's a domestic abuse survivor who says the school district failed her and her kids when she asked for a transfer. and as ktvu's katie uthes reports, it appears all district policies are not created equal. >> they love learning. >> reporter: school should be a safe haven where children feel supported. >> i couldn't even find the words to say to my children why they weren't in school. how can i say to them, they don't care about you. >> reporter: she pulled her four children from school. a restraining order against her
