a controversial film and the hacking scandal. but that won't stop the release of "the interview". i will tell you where you can catch the movie. the investigation is underway into another deadly police shooting. it happened just two miles from ferguson, missouri. i'm watching bay area roads and most importantly keeping a close eye on jolly st. nick's commute as santa begins his long journey across the globe.

moat moat starts cash i'm pam cook in for tori campbell. >> meteorologist mark toe my joe in for steve this morning. how is it looking out there? >> the fog in the san jose airport reporting down to 686 feet. >> is it affecting air travel at san jose?

>> it possibly could. it started to form over the past hour. the fog doing its thing. keep that in mind across the bay area this morning. another key headline. there is a lot going on, with cooler temperatures and shower chances. for christmas we're tracking rain moving in from the north. right now, the rainfall is up to the north of the bay area. as far as the temperatures, really warm yesterday. we were right around 70 degrees. everybody cooling off a good 7 to 10 degrees. no more 70s. warmest locations right around 60, 61. possibly 62 degrees. you can see on the satellite the clouds and rain showers out there as well. current visibility reports down to about .25 in santa rosa and fairfield but even down toward the fog in the south bay down towards san jose that translates to under 700 feet at the airport. mountain view visibility is not as extreme, about 1.5 miles. as far as the current numbers. mainly in the 40s to lower 50s. san francisco, 56. santa rosa in the upper 40s.

the rainband pushing across the north bare. you will notice by late in the afternoon already focused in the south bay. we'll clear things out. when we clear things out on the increase in the afternoon hours and evening hours. here is a look at the forecast for this morning. areas of fog with partly cloudy skies. and then to the afternoon hours, clouds and showers and gusty winds with temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s. we'll take a closer look at your forecast highs in a little bit. we're tracking rain showers in the bay area. but also take a look at this. some snow out in san francisco. of course, the fake stuff. we're looking out toward lefty o'doul's. as you can see, kind of setting up a nice backdrop for your christmas eve out there. neat to look at the images in san francisco with the fest -- all of the festivities there this morning. as far as sal, sal, the real stuff, the fog, we're watching

out for that. >> good morning. we're looking at the fog effect on airplanes coming into the bay area. we'll be seeing the san francisco airport. frights coming in here, experiencing delays. later on this morning of about an hour. that's according to the faa when the ground delay program starts at about 9:00. that's because it's taking a little bit longer for flights to come in, then those flights turn around going out a little bit late. about -- exactly 56 minutes is what they said. it's about an hour. let's move to the bay bridge toll plaza. not much of a commute getting into san francisco. there was a big traffic problem in oakland early this christmas eve morning. there was a tree that came down on 580 westbound right before the park boulevard exit. took up the two right lanes. it happened after 1:15 this morning. it lasted until about 5:00 when they cleared the tree. you can see they had to cut the tree up. all of the lanes are open on

a change of heart. a santa clara associate law professor says this is an example of how speech isn't free but it's important for the movie to be released. >> the decision to now release the movie in limited theaters, i think it tells us that speech has cost, that there are potential concerns but that's the cost of free speech. >> reporter: secretary rogen tweeted yesterday, the people have spoken. freedom has prevailed. sony didn't give up. some want to see it just because of the controversy. here is a movie review out of the chronicle today. the writer saying a little funny, a little stupid like the scandal. of course, the ultimate judge will likely be the box office with this limited release. we'll see how the movie does,

it's pretty magical inside and up get to meet the family but the winner, ktvu channel 2 reporter, tara moriarty, has been live all morning long at a home in vallejo and you can see behind her certainly not only is it a beautiful display but they've certainly captured the hearts of our viewers as well with the story. >> reporter: oh, definitely. here they are. these are the winners, bob and linda taylor congratulations. we surprised them at 5:30. you guys were great sports. got a lot of team spirit here because as you can see this is absolutely fantastic. we're so happy it's still kind of dark outside so you can get a nice look at this. there is a touching story behind the reason why you put up this. it has to do with your daughter who actually died 15 years ago? >> yes. she was flying to little rock, arkansas, and they were trying to land in a storm and the plane missed the runway and the

plane crashed and 11 people died that night and my daughter was one of them. christmas was her favorite time of the year. she loved to decorate for her son, for my grandson. so the first year she wasn't with us, we started decorating and we got just bigger and brighter every year. >> you started with the manger. >> the point we started. >> reporter: and every year, you added to it and added to it. it's so nice that you said you would like to create enough lights so she can see from heaven. >> absolutely. i know she's looking down saying, right on, dad. you are doing a great job. >> reporter: a lot of homes had more lights, but this one tugged at people's heartstrings because of the story behind it. can you talk about all of the things you've done here? i know the figurines and this merry-go-round was from the

fire department. >> that's correct. we have part of vallejo history with the merry go around and the christmas wheel. we have people who come around and say they remember seeing this ferris wheel when they were small and now any are bringing their babies to see it. >> reporter: and these figurines are from the philippines? >> yes. >> reporter: you have to go all the way there -- the tweety bird is her favorite. there's a bugs bunny and a snow white. i snow your electric bill is very expensive. last december, it was $3,000? >> but because of the l.e.d. light, s, we were able to drop the bill by $800 but by adding the l.e.d. lights now we've added more. all of this overhead, our parking lot across the street. so our bill will probably stay the same but we got a lot more

on 2." 7:16. a storm that brought deadly tornadoes in the deep south now pounding florida this morning. the tornadoes killed at least four people in mississippi yesterday, including two people at a mobile home. mississippi's governor has declared a state of emergency in two counties. thousands of people are without power this morning. twisters also touched down in louisiana and georgia and a half foot of rain fell in the tallahassee area overnight. you should prepare for potential delays today if you are flying out of sfo or picking someone up at the airport. storms in the rockies as well and along the east coast could cause problems throughout the day. cars were lining up outside of the entrance this morning as travelers were showing up for their flights. but because of the fog, we have here an faa website report delays could reach an hour at sfo today. at 9:00 this morning, the airport will switch to a ground control program. that means that because it cannot handle the air traffic

all at once, the sfo will limb i the number of planes departing and in particular arriving at sfo in a given hour. it was a bumpy start to the christmas week at la guardia airport. a southwest airlines plane clipped wings with an american airlines jet. both planes, one passenger, heard a jarring bump. when she looked outside, she said she saw half the wing of the southwest plane was missing. no one on board either flight was injured but people on the southwest plane had to walk off the aircraft and be bussed back to the terminal. 7:18. i think it's a good time to go to sal. keeping an eye on the roads and the airports. any major problems? >> no major problems. but there are delays out there. we'll get to those in a moment. i'm -- as you mentioned, i'm looking at the roads here. we've had a couple of crashes but the dense fog is probably the headline when it comes to driving around because it is dense in some areas, we've had

a couple of crashes just a while ago, about ten minutes ago, we had a new injury accident reported in san jose northbound 101 right at highway 87 which is right in front of the san jose airport. we'll talk about the airport in just a moment. i want to take a look at the toll plaza first, though. it's nice and light. so if you -- if you do have to go to work, take consolation in the fact that you won't be seeing a lot of slow traffic. it will take you half the time, maybe even better than that, getting into your job this morning. let's talk about the san jose airport. i think we may have it up here. this is the airport approach for one of our views there. look how dense the fog is there. now, san jose airport has not reported any significant delays. it is a busy travel day. george, our photographer, was told yesterday was even worse at the san jose airport. but look at that dense fog there. you can see the search light there. we are watching san jose,

oakland. san francisco is the only airports that predicting delays at 9:00 starting in an hour and they may go up from there. let's go to mark tamayo in the weather center. good morning. the fog really doing its thing around the bay. the visibility is coming down. over the past hour or so, it's all of the recent rainfall. there's a lot of moisture on the ground. you get a stable weather pattern like this and you have the formation of fog. here's our camera -- where is this camera? san jose. we do have some -- look at this camera. you can't see much. the visibility is down to 686 feet in san jose. it gives you perspective in terms of feet. in addition to the fog, we have higher clouds and some rain showers approaching the north coast up towards eureka and cape mendocino. here is a look at some of the current visibility reports around parts of the bay area with visibilities down to a quarter mile in fairfield and santa rosa. but in san jose, look at this. .06 miles.

basically near zero visibility at the san jose airport. that's actually taken at the airport. this has been coming down quite a bit over the past half-hour, 45 minutes as you head up to the north, not nearly as bad but still a mile and a half out toward mountain view. watch out for the fog, especially in the santa clara valley. the fog kind of gets corralled there. that's what's happening this morning. san jose right now, 48 degrees. novato checking in 50. santa rosa in the upper 40s. 47 degrees. this area of high pressure we felt it the past couple of days with temperatures near 70 degrees. this begins to back off as this front moves in and some rain showers moving into the bay area this afternoon. gusty winds picking up around 25 to 35 miles an hour once the front moves on through. 1:00 this afternoon. here is the expected rainfall coverage. you notice how quick this moves across the bay area. it's linked to the strong wind speeds that will push into the region late otherren tonight and into thursday -- later on tonight and into thursday.

christmas day will be dry but breezy. if you are heading out toward the sierra, winter weather advisory in place for today. snowfall forecast, 5, 10 inches. snow level is coming down 4500 feet. i think chain controls will be likely. forecast highs in the upper 50s to the 60s for afternoon highs. san jose, 61. fremont, 61. livermore 59 degrees. christmas day forecast, there's santa waving to everybody here. fair skies. a bit of a breeze. it will be cool with the readings mainly in the 50s. a look ahead to your five-day forecast. we do have the one rain cloud for today. keep that in mind for the afternoon hours. a heads up that winds will be increasing. brian, no significant storms to talk about beyond today. just rain showers paying us a visit. watch out for that fog out there. >> yeah. >> very thick in san jose. >> you said chain controls.

eve meal as they do every year. they serve a prime rib luncheon. the house of bright rib donates 2200 pounds of prime rib for the annual event. they expect to serve 3,000 prime rib meals today. it also expects to feed that many people again tomorrow with a turkey dinner for christmas. and the holiday spirit also alive and well this morning in contra costa county. a mother in richmond called police to report that someone stole her son's bicycle. an hour later, the officer who took the call and his partner show up at the boy's home and presented him with a new bike. mom said she was shocked. her son is elated. multiple police officers were injured after a protest that happened after another deadly officer-involved shooting in missouri. it happened just about two miles from ferguson. in a news conference about an hour ago, the st. louis county chief of police said the officer was responding to reports of a -- of a theft near

a gas station. when the officer arrived, he saw two men standing near the building. one of the men raised a gun and pointed it at the officer. that's when the officer fired multiple times, killing that man. according to reports, the mother was at the scene and has identified that man as 18-year- old antonio martin. shortly after the shooting, hundreds showed up and clashed with police. >> i understand -- i under the sentiment, emotion and i understand the young people are looking for something. but i think we need to understand the context of what happens down there with these kind of situations. >> police are looking for the second person standing by the building before the shooting happened. he's being called a person of interest. the police chief said things became violent when the crowd arrived at the gas station. he said bricks were thrown at officers and three explosive devices were set off. one officer was injured trying to get away from that

explosion. four people were arrested for assaulting officers. the police chief said officers did not deploy tear gas or use flash bang grenades. despite the deaths of two new york city police officers, and a request from the mayor, protests continued. protesters chanted at law enforcement. the mayor has stopped asking people to stop protesting until the funerals of officers wenjian liu and rafael ramos are held. the two officers were shot and killed saturday afternoon. >> one of the main thing we're focusing on is the response that our community will get now because of this situation. >> the man who shot and killed the two officers had posted threats against police on social media following the deaths of michael brown and eric garner. his family said he was mentally unstable and it was not a case

of police retaliation. the president of the san jose, san francisco and oakland police unions say anti-police feels have reached a dangerous level. in an open letter, they called for constructive dialogue to address concerns over the relationship between minorities and police officers in particular. they say protests over the last few weeks have evolved from an expression of views into violence. bon jove i have showed his support -- bon jove i have showedover i have showed -- rocker bon jovi showed his support by wearing a shirt with the new york city police on it. crews evirkted hundreds of people living in a homeless camp near story road. since then, police have have been clearing out similar camps that have been popping up. it's become a constant battle

with the homeless people in san jose looking for a place to sleep. former president george h.w. bush is hospitalized in texas. he was suffering from shortness of breath and was taken to a houston hospital yesterday. doctors say it was only a precaution. the former president is now 90 years old. he spent two months at the same hospital last year where he was treated for bronchitis. president obama has informed -- was informed of mr. bush's condition and sent good wishes to mr. bush and his family. well, the fda is recommending an end to the nation's life-time blood on blood donations from gay and bisexual men. the fda said it favgers replacing the ban with a new policy barring donations from men who have had sex with other men in the previous 12 months. activists question whether this constitutes a significant policy shift. >> just to be very, very clear, a significant majority of gay and bisexual men will still be

there just in case. give yourself a little extra time. the good thing, traffic has been very light all over the bay. let's go to the bay bridge toll plaza westbound as you come up to the toll plaza. there are no mikor problems coming -- major problems coming through. this is more like a sunday morning commute. 880, some of the dense fog we've had has lifted and the traffic is much better today but the visibility has become a lot better. >> there are no major delays at oakland or san jose airport but delays are expected a little later today at san francisco airport of at least an hour for inbound and outbound flights. let's go to mark tamayo. >> good morning. yeah, the fog really doing its thing, especially in the south bay. been watching it move around. our live camera in baypoint showing you some of the low overcast. it's elevated a bit. it's not impacting your visibility as much in this

immediate area. we had the fog this morning. more clouds and some rain showers right now as you can see in the upper portion of your tv screen up towards eureka. we have rain up there that will gradually approach the bay area. in the short term, this is our concern. look at fairfield, visibility down to zero. extremery low visibility out toward the -- extremely low visibility out toward the delta. these numbers have been moving around quite a bit over the last half-hour, 45 minutes. san jose .06 miles. that translates to 317 feet. it gives you an idea how low visibilities are in the santa clara valley. keep that in mind. the dense fog will impact your visibility between now and 10:00 this morning. current numbers, santa rosa, 47 degrees. walnut creek, 43. here is a look outside looking out toward the baypoint camera. right now, showing you the fog out there. forecast headlines as you can see, some showers developing this afternoon and some gusty winds. we are expecting dry conditions. but it will be brisk for your

christmas day. the wind not too much of a factor right now, but into the afternoon and into tonight, the winds really increase. moving in out of the northwest. winds gusting around 23 to 30 miles out there. talking -- 30 miles per hour out there. this area of high pressure warmed up the bay area monday and tuesday. that moves out of town as this cold front moves in. clouds and showers. rain showers this afternoon picking up. gusty winds. here is our updated forecast model. put it into motion. showing you this at 1:00. the expected rainfall coverage out there could have moderate rainfall and quickly moving out to the south. by 3:00, already exiting aleast approaching the south bay and drifting to the south and to the east. this will set the stage for a dry weather pattern for later on tonight and into tomorrow. the winds really picking up as we showed you around 25, 35 miles an hour. out in the sierra, winter weather advisory in place for today, snowfall around 5 to 10 inches. i think chain controls will be posted for 80 and u.s. highway

temperatures on the cool side. upper 40s in livermore. santa rosa, 48. san francisco 56. our forecast model showing you this, we're talking about the rain into the afternoon hours and how quickly this will move through. here we at 1:00. look what happens at 3:00. pushing down to the south bay and into the evening hours. we'll dry things up across the bay area. this will set the stage for a dry christmas day. but when the system moves on through, the winds really on the increase. we could have wind approaching 30, 35 miles an hour by this afternoon and into the evening hours. clouds and showers for this afternoon. there's the eventual temperature range. upper 50s, lower 60s. today will be cooler than yesterday. coming down a good 7, 10 degrees from the very warm readings yesterday. a lot to talk about today. the fog, the rain showers and the gusty winds developing later on this afternoon. we'll take a closer look at your christmas day forecast in a few minutes. sal is standing by updating the roadways and also the air travel. is that right, mark?

some theaters to show it. the fbi plans to assign agents to call or visit them and inform them of possible threats. katie utehs is live at one of the theaters planning to show the movie and i understand you have information about how people can see it. >> reporter: we're seeing reports online from cnn saying there may be a deal in the works between sony and youtube for a possible in-home rental. perhaps those threats are null and void. you can watch it from the comfort of your home. there are some spots in the bay area where you can catch t the elmwood in berkeley is one of the theaters that will be showing "the interview." the controversy only spurring more interest for people. >> want us to kill the leader of north korea? >> yes. >> what? >> in the movies seth rogen and james nranco play journalists asked to assassinate the leader

of north korea, hence the controversy and then a hacking scandal and threats against theaters led sony pictures to delay the christmas day opening. but following pressure from the president and hollywood, the production company is releasing the movie to some independent theaters. some say they are not going to watch it. others say controversy has only piqued their interest. is that a movie you typically would have seen? >> maybe not. but i'm gonna see is probably more now because of the publicity. >> not many theaters are doing this around the country the we're glad to be part of a movement that supports the right to free speech and supports sony. >> reporter: a local law professor says this is a good example that freedom of speech isn't free but he says it's important that the movie is released despite the threats. now, we asked on twitter if anyone was going to see the movie. by far, my favorite response was from a woman who said we

welcome back to "mornings on 2." it's now 8:13. we've been tracking flights in and out of the bay area all morning long. san jose mineta now reporting some minor delays. the faa says sfo is also experiencing delays up to an hour. big reason is the fog. cars were lining up outside of the entrance this morning as travelers were showing up for the flights at 9:00 this morning, the airport will witch to a ground control program. that means that because it cannot handle the air traffic

all at once, sfo will limit the number of planes departing and arriving at sfo in a given hour. we'll keep an eye on the airports. it was a bumpy start to the christmas travel week at la guardia airport. a southwest airlines plane clipped wings with another plane, an american airlines jet. both boeing 737s. one passenger heard a jarring bump. when she looked outside, she said she saw half of the wing of the southwest plane was missing. fortunately, nobody was injured. people on the southwest plane had to walk off the airplane and be bussed back to the terminal. the u.s. post service set a record delivering 22.8 million packages on monday. that's 10% more than it delivered during 2013 during the holiday season. they say the likely reason, more people are shopping online and the postal service delivers to every as dress in the -- address in the country. there is a mexican

tradition. a fantastic tradition. >> love it. >> it's a celebration where family and friends come together and make da -- tamales. >> one of our photojournalist got a peek into what he it's like and why it's so much more than just making a meal. ♪ >> translator: the tradition comes from my grandparents getting together. and i would hear we're gonna make tamales and i would get excited because i knew i was gonna help my grandmother. ♪ >> translator: i've been making tamales for about 50 years now.

♪ >> translator: okay. you can come help. it looks easy but there is a lot of things that into it. the night before, you have to prepare it. you have to mix the ingredients. >> crunch time. busiest time of the year. >> i can try to make them at home. it's a process. it's a lot of fun. it's a process to make. >> this is our significant part of the holiday business. being the tamales are the one food that every family looks forward to. >> i started to to it when i was 17. >> it gets crazy. we hire seasonal workers as well. for the deli this is a time where everyone is tested. >> about two hours for them to cook. >> we're in the ballpark of 1.3

million tamales. you smell the peppers and you see two or three tamale steamers, steaming with hot air coming out of them. it's one of those where you smell it and it brings back memories. ♪ >> translator: i think my favorite memory is going over to my aunt's house and getting my hands dirtdy and making the -- dirty and making the tall -- tamales and even burning myself. this is a tradition i would like my daughters to learn, the younger generation, something they can pass onto their family and their children when they grow up as well. >> a little bit more practice to show my kids this is how i learned. ♪

musician who did all of that cool music. unfortunately, he's no longer with us. but his music is every single christmas. love it. ♪ >> let's go to the bay bridge toll plaza. it's doing very welcoming into san francisco. there are no major problems as you drive into the city. now, one of the things i do want to mention is visibility is low in some areas. not here on 880 but you might see poor visibility in parts of contra costa county. they've put out an advisory for highway 4. traffic is light but if you are driving in dense fog, don't use your high beams. as we transition to mark tamayo, remember this music, mark? ♪ >> how could you for get it, sal? >> your traffic reports are choreographed now. >> yes. get some moves in there as well, i guess. [laughter] for the forecast today, sal was talking about the overcast and the dense fog making a comeback. keep that in mind. a lot of overcast. the rain showers pushing back

into the bay area from the north. on live stormtracker2 right now, we have the rain approaching the north part of the state up towards eureka and cape mendocino. for us we have low clouds and fog. look at the visibilities beginning to improve a little bit except out towards fairfield, near zero visibility. san jose, we had visibilities, in fact, dramatically improving over the past half-hour, 45 minutes. san jose was down about 300 feet during the 7:00 hour. quickly ramping up in terms of the visibility. current numbers for your christmas eve morning are in the 40s and 50s. santa rosa, 48 degrees. hayward, 53 and livermore in the upper 40s at 48. here is our live camera looking toward the richmond/san rafael bridge. a lot of overcast. we'll be tracking some showers this afternoon. gusty winds and a dry christmas. but look what happens for later on today and into the evening hours. winds on the increase. we'll have gusty conditions out there. could be approaching maybe 40 miles an hour in terms of winds

gusting to 40 miles an hour right near the immediate coastline. that's later on today. high pressure, this was responsible for the barmt we -- warmth we had yesterday. it's moving out of town. clouds and rain showers. wind picking up as well. thr is a very quick mover. you can see about 2:00 already approaching the central portion of the bay. by late in the afternoon, move out to the south and east. when this moves out, you will notice the wind speed kicking up today. i think we'll have chain controls on 80 and 50 especially by late in the afternoon and into the evening hours. forecast highs in the 50s. upper 50 to near 60. these numbers coming down a good 10 degrees from yesterday's readings. san jose 61 and a look ahead to your five-day forecast with some showers this afternoon. gusty wind later wednesday and into thursday with your weekend coming up, it looks like a

airport there in san jose. oakland, not reporting any delays but whether you have a flight out or picking someone up at any of the airports, you are advised to call ahead. sfo is experiencing delays up to an hour due to the fog. as we have seen, the situation could get worse in the last half-hour when sfo switches to a ground control program. it means it can't handle the air traffic at once. it will reduce the number of flights taking off and arriving in a given hour. check your flight if you are heading to the airport. glide memorial church also preparing a special christmas eve meal. every year on december 24th, glide serves a prime rib lunch to people living through tough times. the house of prime rib donates 2200 pounds of prime rib. glide expects to serve 3,000 prime rib meals today. expects to immediate that many people tomorrow for a christmas turkey dinner. well -- >> there is a warning for busy

holiday shoppers focused on the last-minute gifts. police in the bay area say people need to be on the look outfor thieves who are targeting shoppers. palo alto police report a spike in auto burglaries. the city says it has increased the number of police patrols after a series of smash and grab break-ins in last week. nearly 20 cars were hit last thursday alone. >> the suspects know people are out and about shopping, that they are -- they are putting in their car and going out shopping again or going out for dinner, what have you. unfortunately, they take advantage of that. >> police say it should be obvious not to leave valuable items in plain sight but he says not everyone follows the advice. he says he's seen a -- several cars with wallets and credit cards in plain view. san francisco has added extra patrols around union square. that's after a jump in the number of street robberies there are a total of 11

robberies on monday and tuesday. police received a new public service announcement reminding shoppers not to leave items out. the fda is rrkding an end to the -- recommending an end to the nation's lifetime ban on blood donations from gay and bisexual men. the fda said it refavors replace -- favors replacing that. activists question whether this sconce students a significant policy shift. >> just to be very, very clear. a significant majority of gay and bisexual men will be prohibited from donating blood. people are people and people have sex. to expect people not to have sex for a year so they can donate blood is ridiculous. >> the lifetime ban dates from the early years of the a.i.d.s. crisis and was intended to protect the blood spry from what was a -- supply from what was a little understood

the ramp and protesting police brutality. they are members of the lgbt community. they are standing there with signs. not a big delay. but you might want to keep that in mind if you are going to san francisco and using the offramp. you might want to use mission instead. also looking at the toll plaza, it's light coming into san francisco. there are no major problems. if you are taking highway 24 westbound, pleasant hill road to the caldecott, it's a nice drive, about eight minutes to do that. let's go to mark tamayo in the weather center. >> good morning. christmas eve forecast, rainfall moving into the bay area for this afternoon. now, right now, we have low clouds, dense fog. keep that in mind with a big dropoff in visibility right around the bay, right around highway 4, reports of thick pockets of fog out there. so as far as the low overcast this morning, we have the higher clouds moving in. you can see the rainfall right now is focused up to the north up toward the north coast. crescent city reporting heavy rain at last check. that energy will be approaching

the bay area quickly as we head into the afternoon hours. the fog beginning to improve a little bit. fairfield a few minutes ago, about 20 minutes ago, was down to near zero the you could see visibility right around three quarters of a mile. at least trending in the right direction up in the north bay, santa rosa about a half-mile and much better in the south bay for san jose. the fog or the visibility at about 5 miles. as far pass current numbers out there. san jose right now checking in 48 degrees. a lot of upper 40s to the lower 50s out there. santa rosa, 48 and san francisco 57 degrees. talking about the rain time. look what happens. 12:00 this afternoon. the rainfall on the increase up in parts of the north bay. this is a very quick mover. 2:00 this afternoon. the main focus in the southern half of the region. late other on today, we should have partly cloudy skies. gusty wind is building in. we'll have gusty winds tonight and tomorrow morning. high pressure has been in command of the weather. this is moving out of the town. this will be the source of the rainfall later on today.

but it will be dry for your christmas day. out in the sierra, they are expecting snowfall. snowfall will be on the order of 5 to 10 inches. they will have chain controls on 50 and interstate 80. keep that in mind if you are heading to the mountains for the holiday weekend. forecast highs later on today, will be cooler than yesterday. the readings in the upper 50s to lower 60s. christmas day forecast, fair skies, it will be breezy out there. winds pick up later today, sticking around into tomorrow. a look ahead to your five-day forecast and there you can see, we had the one rain cloud. it will be a quick mover. into the weekend fairly quiet. a sun/cloud mix. it's not the same as yesterday. we had temperatures near 70 degrees. a lot of sunshine. remind there we still are at the start of winter. it will be back in full force this afternoon. >> i'm glad you mentioned tahoe. a lot of people want to head up. >> they will have chain controls probably around 5,000 blue canyon.

welcome back, everybody. we are learning more about the woman arrested in a road rage incident on interstate 80. >> she just hit our car. she's pushing us off the road. these coming for us. put it in reverse. >> the 50-year-old of santa clara is accused of trying to run people off the road. it happened saturday afternoon between auburn and koufax. the people in the car say she was tailgating them trying to block them in and made them veer on the shoulder of the road. police say the woman got out and said she was a sheriff and that they were going to jail. bell, the people in the car -- well, the people in the car called police, caught up with the woman and later arrested her. she faces charges of reckless driving an obstructing an officer. it's not only people who can be heroes to their friends in northern india, a monkey was knocked unconscious when it
