good evening heather and tim have the fight off. >> >> this is a live look at traffic flowing smoothly, but this time next week, it will be clear of cars. the shut down for constructionion at 12:01 saturday morning and it will be closed until monday morning. next weekend will be the longest closure for the iconic bridge. with more on how the closure will affect visitors and traffic, kara -- >> the 52 hour planned closure is unprecedented. the golden gate bridge district is hoping to get the word out to as many as possible hoping bay area people and businesses

will plan around it. this woman brought relatives to see the iconic britain. >> i feel like we have entered a new dimension or area. it's beautiful. >> reporter: her timing was great. she didn't realize it was closing to vehicle traffic next weekend. >> i was lucky i was able to bring my family here. we are lucky we made it here. >> i timed the trip because i know next weekend, it is closed. >> reporter: the golden gate bridge will shut down next weekend so crews can install a moveable barrier. right now, there are pile johns separating traffic. 3300 of these concrete barrier units will be placed on the highway 101 approach north of the bridge. >> they are 1,500 pounds each and they will be pinned

together. so they will form a semi-rigid barrier. a pair of yellow zipper trucks will move the barrier units over one lane at a time. the bridge district has issued a no travel advisory next weekend, asking people to avoid travel between san francisco and the north bay. golden gate transit buses will be allowed to cross the bridge and additional ferry service will be added. heavier than usual traffic is expected on the bay bridge and the richmond bridge. >> it is going to be busy, and we asked if we should spread it out, but it was going to be such a trick el, we decided to rip off the band-aid and do it at one. >> reporter: the parking lots out both ends of the bridge willing closed, including the one here at vista point. >> thank you, kara.

groundbreaking ceremony for tuesday for california's long- awaited high speed rail system. according to the fresno bee, 1200 dignitaries and guests will be attending. the first stretch of the track will be built and that will be 29-miles between fresno and madera. >> >> a four-year-old and elderly couple had to be cut out of their car after they ended up on top of another vehicle following an accident in san francisco. it happened on pine and franklin street at 1:45 and all three cars were involved. police say it's not clear exactly what happened at this point, but the initial investigation indicates the elderly couple's toyota hit the back end of a car waiting at a light. the toyota careened out of control and ended up on top of an audi. people were taken to the shot

>> long sometime ainge chore of espn sports center stewart scott has passed away. he has been fighting cancer since 2007, but remained dedicated to his craft. scott worked at three tv stations in the south before joining espn in 1993, helping to launch the espn2 network. he was known for his strong relationship with athletes and journalists, something he developed through his story telling. stewart scott was 49. >> >> sharing condolences, from hair son barns tweeting --

today in comparison for tomorrow. most neighborhoods not changing too much except for the east bay you see the numbers going up for the east bay. there is a chance we could have another spare the air alert issued for tuesday and possibly into wednesday because the weather pattern is not changing too much except for a warming trend we'll see that coming up on the five-day forecast. overnight lows, starting out the day, we are not talking about the upper 20s, still pretty chilly, 30s. we could have some patchy fog in the north bay, east bay. temperatures to start your day in the 30s and 40s, here we are at 7:00 tomorrow morning and in the afternoon. temperatures back up into the upper 50s to low 60s, rainfall to our north, hazy sunshine for a good portion of the week, high pressure will be building in off shore. after the fog. at least for the morning hours, toward the central valley. look at the high pushing the storm track to our north.

the series of rainstorms that barreled through the bay area caused severe flooding. now, help is on the way for those still recovering. a storm damage assistance center, set to open in san

materic kirschner o tomorrow. >> reporter: even though the storm happened weeks ago, there is no shortage of people around here that need help. a lot of people had to start over essentially after their homes and cars were flooded. mcaribelle garcia is quick to show us what happened in her home. she has had to replace all of the flooring. this sunday afternoon, she was painting the walls and her husband was install agnew door. most of their belongings were ruined. >> everything happened really quickly not much time to save jewels and beds and everything. >> reporter: she has received loans, she easily needs more assistance. >> i can't tell you what you i feel. i feel really bad. >> >> reporter: today, a pan alerted residents reis on the way, san mateo county office of
