network in yemen. the french president has called for a national day of mourning tomorrow. more on the hunt of the suspects. >> reporter: emergency crews raced to the scene of the france's deadliest terror attack in decades. masked men with assault rifles went to charliabdeau shouts god is great and calling out the names of their victims. they knew who they were targeting. they killed 12 people before escapes in a car which was later found abandoned. several witnesses saw the attack as it came down. >> i was on my balcony. i saw an injured policeman. >> reporter: the shots came from an automatic weapon and it was quite shocking. it was as if we were in a state of war. >> reporter: many observed the trackers were well trained and

carried out their plan calmly. the french president showed sorrow and resolve during an address. >> freedom will always be stronger than barbarism. this is what i'm encouraging you to do. the unity, unity of all and everybody should be our answer. >> reporter: earlier at the scene, he had noted that several other attacks had been thwarted in france in recent weeks. the country's security alert has been raised to the highest level putting in place additional safety precautions. >> i asked the regional heads of police to take all the precautions at facilities. a certain number of public institutions. we have increased a security deployment everywhere across the french territory. >> reporter: it is not the first time this paper's office has been attacked. they were fire bombed in 2011 after there was a spoof

caricature of prophet mohammed on the cover. tomorrow is a national day of mourning for those killed and no letup in the search. >> people are calling the attack in paris an attack on free speech. coming up at 5:30, the local discussion on the impact this attack could have and how teachers at a local french school plan to discuss the attack with their students. a transgendered woman came face to face with a man she says stabbed her partner on a muni bus. noelle walker is live in san francisco. you can tell here the woman was very shaken up. >> reporter: yes. one of the victims was here in court today clearly shaken. she says her partner is so shaken she can't leave the house yet. this suspect, 54 years old, faces several charges including attempted murder and making criminal threats. the district attorney's office is calling this a hate crime.

under dim fluorescent lights under apartment 9, an alleged hate crime victim and suspect came face to face again. away from the view of our camera. >> my son was like oh my god he is as close as he was when he did these things. >> reporter: on saturday, the transgendered couple were on the number 49 muni bus. it didn't take long for the suspect to single them out. >> fist he called us [bleep]. and then he started going on an extended rant about how we were pretending to be victim. >> reporter: ray says when she and her partner samantha got off the bus. >> he pulled a big steak knife out. >> reporter: the suspect stabbed samantha twice in the chest. she ran into a nearby mcdonalds to get help. she says it was an extreme example of the ridicule transgendered people experience daily. >> imagine if all you want to do is go to lunch. yet between you and lunch is

two healthcare giants is being felt by thousands. allie? >> reporter: what it means is if you have a blue shield insurance card and you come to a sutter hospital it could get very expensive for you in the next few months. >> this is frustrating. >> reporter: six-year-old max clark has had is same pediatrician his entire life. >> she is the one who made him first cry. [ laughter ] >> reporter: his mom lisa is not happy about the idea of finding a new doctor for her son and everybody else. clark has blue shield insurance. all of her doctors are part of the sutter health network. >> i have my primary care, my obgyn. ankle doctor. >> reporter: the contract between blue shield and assaulter expired january 1. both sides are at an impasse. if. if they can't come to an agreement, clark and others like her will have to find doctors outside of sutter or pay the out of network price.

>> pretty stressful. even six months down the line, i have to figure out where are we going to go? >> reporter: blue shield of california spokesman steve says prices are 30% higher than other hospitals this northern california. sutter operates 23 hospitals in northern california and has 5,000 doctors affiliated with it. sutter stifles competition. >> for blue shield to claim that we have negotiating leverage over them is absolutely ridiculous. blue shield is an $11 billion company. >> reporter: bill gleeson says their costs have gone up because things are more expensive under the affordable care act. but the difference is in the single digits. not 30%. >> this is a large and powerful health insurance company cutting back on the money it spends on actual patient care. >> reporter: clark doesn't care who started the fight. she feels like she is caught in the middle of it. >> it will be nice to get to my

appointment. go in, get out. you know. get the care i need and my son needs and that's it. >> reporter: now both sides want to keep negotiates but if an agreement isn't reached, blue shield says hmo customers have until april. then they have to switch to a nonsutter doctor. ppo customers have until june. they have to pay the out of network price which isn't a an option for a lot of people. >> thank you allie rasmus. people are celebrating california's ban, made from enlarged livers of force fed ducks and geese. animal rights activists claims it amounted to cruelty to animals but federal food regulations supersede it ban. there are plans to appeal. courts in california are wasting millions of dollars

every year according to a new report by the state auditor. they found evidence of poor fiscal management dating back to 2010. the administrative office of the court is paying contractors when it could save $7 million with state employees doing the same work. a state supreme court justice who oversees the administrative office says they are already in the process of implementing some of the recommendations from this report. for the first time ever, the golden gate bridge will be shut down this weekend so crews can install a movable median barrier. this workers are adjusting to their new roles. >> reporter: the men who operate the long awaited movable barrier zipper trucks have had a lot of experience splitting lanes the old fashioned way. >> it is very different from plugging and pulling. the cars come very close to you whizzing by you.

watch as the robber grabs her, throws her to the ground, kicks her and throws her by her purse until the woman lets go and he takes off. police say this is one of four violent robberies by the same man. the third included sexual battery. in the fourth, there was a weapon used. lapd says the attacks have happened in korea town. typically a low crime neighborhood. a community meeting is set to begin in a few minutes to discuss possible changes to san francisco police station boundaries. the police department is considering modifying the boundaries of the new southern police station in the mission bay neighborhood. every ten years, the department evaluates new population data and redraws the lines of the police district to reflect neighborhood shift. tonight's meeting is scheduled to start at 5:30 at city hall. some dramatic new video of a mud slide in washington state. boy look at that. four houses knocked off their

investigation of arson at a san francisco homemade famous in a hit movie. today police announced an arrest. two small fires were set on monday at the home used in the mrs. doubtfire movie starring robin williams. >> david stevenson is live with what we know about the suspect and how police tracked her down. >> reporter: right now, the suspect is being held in county jail facing charges that include arson and attempted murder. arson investigators checked out the house as tourists took pictures of the homemade famous in the robin williams film mrs. downfire. >> i with loved the movie when we were kids. >> i thought it was an opportunity to see the house since i was here. >> reporter: police announced an arrest for the arson fire set. 25-year-old tyquan was arrested and taken to the san francisco county jail. >> she is booked on attempted

is on paid leave after being arrested and charged with committing lewd acts with a student. 49-year-old joe ray valle was arrested last friday night. school district officials called police after learning of an inappropriate physical relationship with a female student. school officials say they don't think there are any other victims but they want anyone with information to contact union city police. more now on the massive man hunt for the three suspects involved in a terrorist attack in paris today. terrorists shot and killed eight journalists and cartoonists. they were also shooting people at random. they killed two policemen as well. authorities say the three gunmen have ties to a yemeni terrorist network. we have reaction in san

says find the people who did it and bring them to justice. mike mibach, ktvu channel 2 news. an oakland man is in jail after police say he shot and killed a woman outside a bar in the sacramento area last night. police say the victim and a friend were confronted just after midnight in the parking lot of the 36handel's irish pub. they demended cash and car keys. both women ran back into the bar. one of them made it, the other was shot and killed. authorities say the alleged shooter anderson swift took the victim's keys, stole their car, and then crashed shortly afterward. >> the gentleman was told to get out of the car and he started jogging away. the neighbor wanted to keep him at the scene. actually detained him over here on deacon road. >> swift is 41 years old being held in the el dorado county jail without bail on suspicion of murder, carjacking, and car

>> we are getting video of a wreck in san francisco with a car driving right into a restaurant at corner of california and larken street. two cars slammed into each other and the smaller car slid into a restaurant called olea. there are no details on the extent of any injuries but officers say the restaurant was heavily damaged. it has been temporarily red tagged and the business is closed. muni was also rerouted around the scene of that accident. search teams in indonesia have found the tail section of the wreckage of the asian flight. the discovery is important to locating the black box and flight data recorder. they also found another body bringing the total to 40 since

the plane disappeared 11 days ago with 162 people on board. air asia plans to pay $125 to the families of passengers on that flight. today in san jose, dozens of healthcare workers rallied outside the first public meeting to discuss the sale of four bay area catholic hospitals. seeton medical center in daly city, seeton coast side in moss beach. o'connor in san jose are being sold in the bay area along with to two more in los angeles county. the daughters of charity health system has approved the sales of those six hospitals to prime healthcare. they did so last fall. but today, some union workers say they worry the company won't continue their tradition of serving the community. >> the services that the community needs, unfortunately, maybe they are not profitable like women's healthcare. labor and delivery. certain cancer.
