i'm tampa -- tori campbell several sources are reporting that the silver and black with selected their new head coach. brian flores has more. >> reporter: you know, first fans were not too excited about jack del rio coming to the silver and black but i would say the past 24, 48 hours as this news is becoming official now, they say they are excited for next year. we have not heard anything official again from the oakland raiders of an announcement but our own mark ibanez says this is official. the team could be making an announcement as early as this afternoon. we also understand that del rio has packed to move here to oakland. del rio's most recent stint was

the former defensive kood nateer for the broncos -- coordinator for the broncos. he has head coaching experience. he coached the jaguars. cosm piling a 68-71 record. this is a homecoming for the former hayward high standout. not only does he have local roots, his parents reportedly continue to be raiders season ticketholders. we did speak with fans, and they say they are excited. >> i think it's a great hire. they need someone with experience to come in and help turn the franchise around. >> i think it's good as far as the vision goes against the broncos. he can give us insight on what's going on with the defense, offense with the broncos. >> i think he will be a good coach. he has experience. he just needs to brick -- bring in a good offensive coordinator. >> reporter: there's talk that del rio has been trying to

at two schools is just being wrapped up. students at buena vista elementary and contra costa school were being kept indoors while police searched for a suspect. we're told they tracked down at least one person suspected in a homicide in san francisco who ran from police in walnut creek. again, a lockdown at two schools in walnut creek is being lifted as police take a homicide suspect into custody. the powell street b.a.r.t. station in san francisco is now open after being shut down this morning for several hours when a man was hit and killed on the tracks. it happened before 8:00 this morning, triggering major system-wide delays. initially firefighters responded to a report of a person trapped under a train. engineers then de-energized the tracks to try to save the man but he did not survive. it has now been several months since a 4-year-old boy fell more than 230 feet from a cliff in bodega bay. today, he was reunited with the rescuers who saved his life

heather holmes was there for the move he reunion and joins us live from oakland. good afternoon. >> reporter: hi, tori. it was such a sweet moment at the hospital. it's really remarkable to see sebastian's progress. he's talking now and walking. still needs a little bit of help with that. but those are two things he was not doing when i was last here interviewing his mom around thanksgiving. the 4-year-old has been here at ucsf benny hoff hospital since the fall in november. today, the little boy was wheeled out to the hospital's court yard to thank the first responders from the bodega bay fire department who rappelled down the cliff and pulled him to safety, it was so cute, he stood up and in his tiny little voice, he said, thank you. the fire crews brought him all sorts of gifts. they brought him a toy fire truck and ambulance. they said when he's ready he's welcomed to stop by the

department and take a ride on a real truck. sebastian's mom expressed her deep appreciation for the efforts that saved her son. >> i just wanted to give them a hug. that was an emotional moment for me. to thank them. i can't even describe in words how i feel. there are no words for how grateful, for how -- just how grateful i am. >> reporter: now, doctors tell meal while they wanted to remain optimistic, the odds really were not in sebastian's favor. after all, he fell more than 200 feet. coming up today at 5:00, i will have more on the injury that most concerned doctors and why they fear this day would never come. that's coming up today at 5:00. i will have more on that and more on this sweet reunion that happened here today. >> nice to see so many big smiles and hugs. thank you. richmond police are increasing patrols after a shooting that left one man dead and two others injured. it happened at the crescent

park apartment complex on fleming avenue just before 7:30 last night. officers in the area say they heard several gunshots when any arrived on the scene, they found one man dead and two others critically injured. investigators have been working through the night on this case but so far no word on the motive or any possible suspects. san francisco police are looking for attackers in two separate stabbings early this morning. police say two men rides the 91 muni bus had words and then one man stabbed the other. it happened near the west portal muni station before 4:00. police say the victim didn't realize he had been stabbed in the leg. investigators are talking to witnesses and looking at surveillance camera footage on the bus. >> i have never had a situation on the muni, especially in this area. so it's sad that something like that happen. i hope the person is okay. >> in an unrelated incident, investigators says two men were fighting about 3:00 this morning on francisco street in

north beach. one man pulled out a knife and stabbed other person in the head. a third person who tried to break up the fight was also hurt. none of the injuries are life- threatening. san francisco police are investigating a rash of violent cell phone robberies this week in the finance am district. investigators say the robbers have punched, kicked and even choked their victims. one woman was robled at 10:00 yesterday morning while looking at her phone. four similar attacks happened monday. none of the victim has been seriously hurt. police are urging people to pay attention to their surroundings, not their phone screens. oakland police are looking for the thieves who stole the wallets of a driver and a critically injured bicyclist before noon yesterday. police say the 81-year-old driver hit the bicyclist who may have run a red light at 8th and union streets. as the driver rushed to check on the injured bicyclist, a group of people approached him,

went through his pockets and took his wallet. police believe a develop rit group stole the wallet. both wallets were found nearby empty. in france, charlie hebdo returned defiantly to newsstands and sold out. it was the first edition since 12 people were killed at the offices last week. people started lining up at book stars and newsstands early this morning in paris. 3million copies rolled off the presses. another 2 million will be printed soon. charlie hebdo's surviving journalist featured an image of a crying muhammed on the cover in an act of defiance against extremist. >> the work is very important for the freedom of speech and that's the reason i wanted to buy it. >> in a video posted online today, al qaeda in the arabian peninsula complained responsibility for the attacks.

at least ten people are dead and five hurt after a prison bust skidded off an -- bus skidded off an icy overpass and hit a train. it happened in odessa, texas. the bus was carrying 12 prisoners and three correctional officers. the moving train dragged the bus before coming to a halt. the survivors' conditions are not known. congressional republicans voted to overturn president obama's order that would delay deportation of millions of undocumented immigrants. the amendments are even more controversial because they are attached to a spending bill for the department of homeland security. >> reporter: in their final day of work before heading to a caucus retreat in pennsylvania, house republicans pushed through a controversial measure left over from the last congress. defunding immigration enforcement from the department

of homeland security's budget. >> instead of offering a long- term solution to fix our broken immigration system, republicans have instead opted to hold hostage funding for one of the most critical agencies in our government. >> reporter: the move angering many democrats who question the wisdom of taking away some dhs funding on the heels of increased terror chatter following the attacks on a paris newspaper office last week. >> let meet be clear -- this fund bill fund the entire -- this bill funds the ent tire department of homeland security. >> reporter: despite finding common ground with president obama, immigration is not the only piece of legislation working its way through both chambers of congress, which the president says he will veto. the senate is moving forward with plans to bring construction of the keystone xl pipeline to the floor with a vote expected next week. the measure already passed the house last week. >> keystone pipeline is a good example. other issues that the president

has already issued veto threats on that are good for the economy and jobs and he's already said nope, not gonna work with you on these things. that's the troubling thing to me. >> reporter: that line is being drawn over the pipeline with a slew of amendments aimed at derailing the bill, particularly vermont who wants climate change a manmade if he none -- if he none none -- phenomenon. this week auto plate license readers were approved. the readers will collect license plate information and store it for up to six months. police say that data can be invaluable when they are investigating crimes and searching for missing people.

critics worry about privacy. but the chief said the information will not be misused. >> i under and sympathize with people's concerns about privacy. but with respect to the license plate leadertz -- leaders, law enforcement has no interest in the behavior patterns of innocent parties. >> initially they will be used for six months and then city leaders will take a look at effectiveness of them. oakland police do not suspect foul play in the deaths of two home las people found yesterday. the bodies of the man and woman were discovered around 5:00 p.m. at a homeless encampment at grand and lake park avenue. this is just across the street from the grand lake theater beneath interstate 580. so far, no word on how the two died. in san jose, witnesses say they saw two people running from a warehouse that caught fire. the fire on bassett street burned a commercial warehouse that's been empty for 20 years.

it was scheduled to be demolished this week. nobody was hurt. fire crews believe the fire was started by homeless people who may have been squatting at the building. president obama is getting a big-named enforcement for his free college program. it's coming from tom hanks who went to a jc in the east bay. hanks tells his story of success that may never have happened if he was not offered a free start to his education. he talks about graduating from skyline high school as an underachieving student and attending chabot college in hayward. he says we would get our general education requirements out of the way at chabot, credits we could transfer to a university which made those two years an invaluable head start. president obama's plan calls for the government to pay for the community college education for any student who qualifies. the two climbers scaling the dawn wall at yosemite's el capitan are hoping to make it

to the top as soon as this afternoon. kevin jorgensen of santa rosa and tommy caldwell of colorado have been on the rock for 19 days now. they are trying to be the first to free-climb the half-mile rock using just their hands and feet. they do have safety roaches to protect them in case of a fall. their loved ones plan to hike eight miles to the summit of el capitan to greet them at the top. just amazing. so close. hopefully that will happen later this afternoon. as far as our weather, we have some hazy sunshine out there. we had dense fog advisories posted for parts of the east bay. that's not the case with clearing skies. the advisories have expired and we just have mostly sunny conditions as you can see. as far as the satellite, we have a weather system in the pacific but all of the energy this will be heading up to the north. so the main rain not making it into the bay area.

our next chance, that could be on friday. here you can see right now the clearing skies out there. but still some stubborn fog out toward parts of the east bay. there's the fog bank from brentwood toward tracy, even a few patches around concord. at least hazy sunshine in that region. still, a very stable air mass in place. with that we have a spare the air alert issued for tomorrow. here is the latest. the dense fog focused out toward the central valley. that was the case last night and into morning into the early portion of the afternoon. current numbers out there, beginning to warm up. showing you some 50s and even a few low 60s out towards hayward. san jose, 57. fairfield, checking in 54 degrees. our live camera showing you this. haze towards sfo. more hazy sunshine today, dense fog returns thursday morning. cloud making a big comeback for your friday forecast and even the chance for a few north bay showers. high pressure is still in

command of our weather keeping the storm track up to the north. keeping the dry weather pattern in place. the stable air mass, you get the fog that forms out to the central valley, there is a weather system approaching the region on friday. more clouds for your friday. we'll bring in the chance of a few scattered north bay showers, especially northern sonoma county up towards mendocino county. i think we'll have more fog tomorrow morning to deal with this forecast model not picking up on that. partly cloudy skies for the afternoon. look a all of the clouds on friday. the main rain will be up to the north of the bay area but that chance approaches the region by friday afternoon and into friday night thal could last into saturday morning as well with those rain chances out there. we'll take that into saturday morning. a lot of clouds for your weekend. temperatures for the afternoon, maybely in the upper 50s to the low -- mainly in the upper 50s to low mid-60s. a look ahead to your five-day forecast, the chance of a few north bay showers and the
