disruption that happened on b.a.r.t. there were a couple of arrests? >> reporter: that's right. there were two and many headaches for commuters. we wondered about organizers asking demonstrators to bring spoons with them. now we know why. >> reporter: at san francisco's montgomery b.a.r.t. station what one called an annoying protest. beginning at 7:00 a.m. about 200 demonstrators swarmed the stations bemanding charges be dropped against b.a.r.t. protesters arrested three months ago, even as officers arrested two more protesters. [ indiscernible ] >> the message here, no business as usual for however long that police violence, the

break news, reports of a deadly officer involved shooting. at this point not too much information to pass along but here is what we know. just about 2:00 p.m. today near harvey park a police officer shot and killed a man who had a knife. there salarge police -- is a large police presence there. as soon as our crew gets there we will have more information but at this point there has been an officer involved shooting in free fremont --fry mont. -- fremont. a deadly shooting in east oakland put two schools on lock down near 105 avenue around new. stone hurst elementary school and madison middle school were on lock down while police searched for the suspects in the area. police say a man and a woman were both shot and killed. the family of the female victim identified her as a 19-year- old. they say she was with her

boyfriend at the time of the shooting and that he was also killed. she was killed near where she lived. she was working at a ups store and just started community college. the raiders introduced their new head coach today. jack del rio talked about his passion for the raiders as he spoke about growing up here and how the raiders were always his team. mark ibanez is here. what were your thoughts after seeing jack del rio today? >> i was trucked by the -- strucked by the 49ers press -- struck by the 49ers press conference yesterday, it was like a awkward family reunion for a dysfunctional family, strange watching it. for the raiders, relaxed vibe they gave off and jack del rio, the 9th coach since 2002.

molesting students. this is the second trial for joseph martin. last year a jury acquitted him but failed to agree on 95 counts. the current trial is on 24 felony molestation charges for touching students. his wife is standing by him insisting he is innocent and she said this has been very hard on them and their two daughters. >> that is very difficult. it is, you know, tough as you are coming near the end and knowing there is a decision that will be made and it will determine what happens. >> if convicted he could spend the rest of his life in prison. his defense is scheduled to make closing arguments next tuesday. new information tonight about an officer involved shooting in richmond. the officer was wearing a body camera but it only recorded the after math of the incident. ktvu's cristina rendon talked to the police chief about the body cameras and why it wasn't

turned on. >> this crime scene is in the spotlight after a police officer shot a man who pulled out a pistol with an extended magazine on thursday. police say the officer shot the man in self-defense. the officer was wearing a body camera. the police chief says it had been issued to the officer. >> he had it for hours and how familiar people are with turning it on and off is still tough as they are learning thew use it. -- how to use it. >> reporter: it was not on during the interaction but he started recording after he opened fire. in a perfect world the officer would have recorded the entire interaction but the priority is his safety and the safety of the public. >> would the priority be to turn the camera on? no. we like that ideally and hopefully over time they will

landed hard at 45-degree angle causing it to explode. the rest of the cargo made it to the international space station. the chp know whose is to blame for a deadly crash this weekend. tuesday's crash happened when one of the drivers ran a stop sign during thick morning fog. his truck broad sided a van that was carrying 7 farm workers. neither driver was licensed to drive. the visibility at the time was 100 feet. five people were killed. criminal charges have not yet been filed. an emotional day in the trial of suspected boston marathon bomber dzhokhar tsarnaev. today a potential juror choked up as she talked about the boy who was killed in the attack. she said she lived in the same neighborhood and even met the boy. dzhokhar tsarnaev is charged in the 2013 attack where three

ktvu channel 2 news starts right now with breaking news. >> we have new information on that breaking news out of fremont where police shot and killed a man. officers say the man was carrying a knife. it happened in the area of harvey park. ktvu's jana katsuyama spoke to authorities. >> reporter: we are just getting briefings right now from the police but let me tell you what she told us. you can see there is emergency crews, they say it was off of this street, harvey park, where a man was seen with a knife. neighbors called it in. he confronted two people in the area and then the police who

responded, three officers, confronted him here in harvey park. you can see there are lights. that is where the investigation is concentrating. there was one officer who fired a taser at the suspect and then a second officer who fired his firearm. that turned out to be be a shot that killed -- that was fatal for the suspect. the suspect did not survive and right now they have the section blocked off to traffic and pedestrians while investigators try to figure this out. you can see aerial. we have chopper 2 above the scene. all of the yellow tape around the park, they are looking right now for any witnesses who might have seen something here. again, this is a man, possibly in his 40s, they are still trying to gather information about who he might be, why he was here and what happened,

came through several doors to get in. >> reporter: a new door today for this homeowner in san francisco after two men forced their way in and pretended to be police officers. >> we are all shocked. >> reporter: it began when burglars forced open this iron gate last night, starting the adults and children inside -- startling the adults and children inside. . >> got in in 3 minutes. >> reporter: damage to the door frame shows what happened next. >> kicked down the door. the wooden door. and the third door wasn't lock. they open and yell, police officer. stay where you are at. >> it was a traumatizing experience. >> reporter: san francisco police department says it is unclear whether the family was targeted. they fled without taking

the san francisco chronicle celebrating history today. this is a day that has been 150 years in the making. it was back on january 16, 1865 that the san francisco chronicle released the first issue. ktvu's john sasaki is in the city where the editor in chief says they have a lot of reasons to celebrate. john? >> reporter: san francisco was incorporated in 1950. 15 years later the chronicle came to be. >> reporter: the staff at the san francisco chronicle was putting together the weekend edition. >> it is a public trust. >> reporter: they work for a paper that has been part of the fabric for 150 years. 96-year-old science editor

good evening. hello. i am gasia mikalian. >> and i am frank somerville. >> julie haener has the night off. it happened at havey mark -- harvey park. ktvu's janna k is on the -- jana katsuyama is on the scene. what are police telling you? >> reporter: right now they are saying they are going through this neighborhood trying to find winds to this shooting. -- witnesses to this shooting. it happened here at harvey park. on the far side of the park with the yellow tape there are flood lights, that is where the suspect fell. the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. look at video that we have from news chopper 2 earlier in the day. you can get a sense of the area that this investigation is spanning. this is a residential neighborhood. they say that three police officers encountered the suspect here in the park and he had a knife and they
