system. we will have details at 10:00 p.m. this meeting goes on, many people are in support of the 14 people who are charged. we will have to get back to you on that. reporting live, tom vacar, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you. redwood city police are investigating a takeover style robbery at 10:00 a.m. this morning at a shopping center. we are told two men, one armed, came into the salon and ordered three women to the ground. one of the women was pregnant. no one was hurt during the robbery. the men took their purses. they got away in a gray compact car. police are hoping surveillance video will help them catch the suspects. violent night in oakland. four shootings injured six people. the first shooting before 9:00 p.m. on 88 avenue and "b" street injuring two people.

two more people were shot at 60 60th avenue. another person was shot at 105 avenue followed by another shooting on 15th street. police say all of the victims are believed to be in stable condition tonight. investigators are trying to determine if any of the shootings are related. one san francisco police officer was convicted today and another acquitted. at issue whether they legally raided a hotel. the officer was acquitted by a jury. but he was convicted on four counts of conspiring to violate other's civil rights by illegally entering and searching rooms and falsifying documents. they released surveillance video showing officers searching rooms. they maintain they did not have search warrants. two other officers were convicted last month as part of the case. >> two developments from the uc

board meeting today. they voted to create a two person committee. governor jerry brown and former homeland security secretary janet napolitano will be the two people on the committee. janet napolitano says the increase is necessary if lawmakers don't increase funding. the governor says they should look for new ways to cust costs and they vote -- cut costs and they voted -- new at 6:00 p.m. a public health warning the measles outbreak at disneyland is a symptom of a larger problem. researchers are tracking the virus. officials say the measles outbreak at disneyland sickened 59 people and counting. 42 of the cases involve people who visited the park. the virus has been confirmed in four states and mexico. 28 of the people who got sick

were not vaccinated. ktvu's john fowler is live in marine country which is -- county. >> reporter: the are no cases of measles here yet. but doctors say that could change quickly because so many parents have not been vaccinating their children. what doctors call a hot spot for a measles outbreak. >> we haven't yet had a case but we are relying on luck at this point. >> he says in some neighborhoods 50% of children are vaccinated. responsibility. >> it is a dangerous procedure on a wrong belief. >> reporter: many people believe vaccines are too risky. >> there is so much that is not known and i think a lot started with the autistic thing. >> reporter: measles, whooping cough and other diseases are threats, nothing could be further from the truth says officials. vaccine do work. are safer than disease that they prevent and by protecting us they protect infants who can't get vaccines. >> we owe it to them to make sure all of us are doing our part to protect the community. >> reporter: he told me that message seems to be sinking in. numbers show vaccination rates are going up little by little. but not fast enough to stop an outbreak right now. >> for many years the measles

has been fading away. what do you think is behind this new surge in cases? >> reporter: it is the unvaccinated. cdc put out these numbers today. the month by month cases nationwide of measles. the bottom lines are the last few years. the top line the last 12 months. doctors blame unvaccinated people. we may be approaching a tipping point. too many people not vaccinated. measles could make a come back. 25 years ago the biggest outbreak in california killed 70 people. that is almost all of them were children. that is a huge problem that we need to stop. and doctors say the way to do that is get vaccinated. protect you and your children and your neighbor's children. >> john fowler live in marin.

thank you. the crisis subsided in the rescue of all the birds covered with a goo in san francisco bay. the problem is they still don't know what the goo is. been a week since birds started showing up with the coating of goo. more than 500 contaminated birds were rounded up, half of them died. lab tests are underway. so far the tests indicate the goo is not an oil based project or a synthetic rubber but they don't know what it is. >> this whole case since friday noon is a mystery. >> investigators hope to learn more from lab tests by the end of the week to prevent this from hammenning again. -- happening again. uber is trying to get people to share rides. ktvu's tom vacar looked at what

there are new developments in the gypsy hill murders of six girls in the 1970s. a man who is serving time in oregon was extradited to the bay area this week to face charges for two of the killings. ktvu's cristina rendon spoke to investigators about the evidence that lead to him. >> reporter: it has been a 38 year hunt for him. he is accused of killing 2-5 bay area women and possibly a woman in reno in the gypsy hill murders of 1976. the district attorney says investigators matched his dna to the killings of the two. >> it is time to bring this man to justice for the murders that we can prove at this point and bring some closure to the

families as best we can. >> reporter: he was a teenager when his sister was killed in pacifica. although his dna isn't linked to his sister's case he doesn't need proof. >> i feel he is the person who did it. i wish he would admit to it. >> his history of violence spans across several states. he escaped prison twice. during that time he attempted to kidnap, rape and kill a woman in oregon. he was convicted and sent back to nevada to finish his sentence. >> in nevada they did not take his dna. >> reporter: once back in oregon his dna was entered into a national database and became a match here. today is a day he waited for. >> when i retired they guaranteed me i would be called back for this case. >> reporter: he never gave up
