breaking news out of sacramento where you see davis medical center is treating a suspected ebola patient transferred from mercy general hospital this morning. the sacramento county health department is aware of the situation. they have a dedicated isolation room for suspected and confirmed ebola patients. the medical center remains open and continues to operate as normal. new details now about the man killed in yesterday's mission district fire that tore through a three story multiple use building and now that building has been red tagged. a few hours ago we heard from san francisco's mayor and fire chief as they toured the burnt debris left behind. good afternoon sal. >> good afternoon. there's still dozens of people here at the scene who used to live in the building we are showing you right now. buses are allowed omission street but no other vehicles

are. at some point they should allow cars omission street again. some people are here to watch and some lived in the building. last night the fire moved quickly and spread through a common attic. people inside heard no fire alarms and at least one of the fire escapes was not functioning properly according to the people inside the building. the fire was reported at 7 and huge flames and smoke detained seven hours later. the firefighters found an unresponsive person inside described as a middle age man who died pronounced dead at the scene. five people were injured taken to the hospital. one of them was a firefighter suffering from dehydration. all but one has been released told by fire officials. one woman says she was having dinner with her daughter and was unaware of the fire. >> when i opened my front door it was pitch black.

everything was black and i started panicking and i closed my door and hit the window to try to get out and i couldn't because my window has bars and if i jumped through the other one i would have landed in glass stuff and the hell with this i grabbed my cell phone and i started flashing it in the hallway screaming for help. >> fire chief hayes white and mayor ed lee came to survey the damage and spoke with displaced residents. they were there shortly after the fire began. fire officials don't know the cause of death for the one person who died. that will be determined by the medical examiner. as for the 17-year-old daughter she says she is unsure of their future. >> i don't know what i'm going to do. my husband went away for vacation and can't get a flight

right now. we have to wait to see what happens and start from the bottom. >> there was one bright spot of news a family pet was found in the rubble and reunited with the owner but there's still a lot of questions. this building is very old one of the oldest in the mission and some people have also been asking why it seems these buildings are going up. a lot of these building with low income residents, a couple people who didn't want to go on camera asked me it seems like a coincidence that laugh these buildings who house moderate to low income people are going up and that is going to be a question for investigators. we have other reporters covering the story and you'll hear about this more at 5 and 6. live in san francisco ktvu news. >> thank you sal. san francisco police are investigating a crash that seriously injured a woman who was crossing the street. the sun may have blinded the

driver at around 830 on brotherhoodway. the woman was hit by a car turning onto the 1 on ramp. the driver said the sun was in his eyes and had difficult seeing her. she was rushed to the hospital with life threatening injuries. drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the accident. san francisco police have made no arrested in the suitcase with human remains inside. police received a 911 call yesterday reporting the suitcase left on 11th street between market and howard. the medical examiner has confirmed they are human. investigators also found additional evidence nearby that may be linked. >> there's other types of debris that are in the general area so i--it's unclear whether or not it's related. >> they hope to release more information on the case later

today. we are getting an inside look at the daring smash and grab robbery at the wells fargo museum in san francisco. surveillance photo shows the stolen suv that rammed through the front doors early tuesday. three robbers held a security guard at gunpoint and stole historic gold nuggets from a display case and escaped in a sedan. the value of the gold rush air nuggets is estimated at $10,000. a shooting aimed at county sheriff's deputies has led to the arrest of four people and the discovery of two major marijuana growing operations. it started yesterday while two undercover deputies were investigating a building in oakland. as they were leaving a man began shooting at their vehicle. they were able to get away and call for back up. about computes and oakland police returned to the building they discovered a pot grow and arrested the man who shot at the deputies but it was a

blocked door thousands watching led them to another discovery. >> we forced entry into that building with a search warrant and discovered one of the most elaborate grows i've ever seen and i've been here for 20 years. >> 2200 plants and 30-pounds were seized. three people were arrested there. investigators believe the two operations didn't even know about each odd and in a really unusual twist both buildings back up to a county drug treatment facility. a hercules high school has notified parents about a school accused of selling marijuana laced cookies on campus. the 16-year-old brought the cookies to school tuesday to sell to other students. a school resource officer says the student was carrying atopper ware container with 17 pot laced cookies inside. it's not known if any of them

have been sold. he's charged of possessing marijuana for sale and child endangerment. state investigators have seized computers and other items after searching the home of former utility commission chief michael. clues in an on going case stemming from e-mails that indicate a former pge vice president negotiated with officials to name a preferred judge in a rate setting case. in other e-mails he's accused of soliciting political contributions and hinted at a facial ruling in a separate case in return. he's never directly commented on those e-mails. financing for solar energy will soon be more affordable in california under a new agreement between the state and federal governments. governor jerry brown was joined by jillian castro and local

the dmv. people were lined up around the block. >> i heard from other people in the line and just recently people have come out and started handing out forms again. >> san francisco public utility commission says water line repair crews should finish in and hour and a half and they are cleaning up the dmv. developing news out of mexico city where several people are dead after a gas truck exploded at a children's hospital at least three adults and a baby have died. right now rescuers are still digging through the rubble as firefighters work to put out the fire. it was caused in a leak from a hoes carrying gas to the hospital. there are now nearly 100 cases of measles in california. why one father is asking the children who have not been vaccinated from measles to be forced to stay home from

happening right now a tour is underway to help oakland being led by the bay area counsel taking a group of 80 real estate developers and investors on a bus and walking tour of key developing sites. their first stop was city hall where they heard from livey shaft. the tour went to the hive on broadway the popular area for businesses and restaurants and also the broadway planning area right across the street. the third stop was in west oakland at the 16th street station which is slated for restoration and new development. there's a battle brewing in san francisco after a public defender was arrested at the hall of justice. cell phone video of the incident on tuesday shows deputy public defender being handcuffed and taken into

custody after she objected police trying to photograph her clients and another man about an unrelated burglary case. she was trying to protect her client. >> i have never seen anything like this happen to anyone at the hall of justice yet she selected this two gentlemen to give the treatment to. >> police say she was arrested for obstructing a criminal investigation and was held for about an hour and released. she wants the case thrown out and an apology from the police department. we have new information about the california measles out break. the state department of public health says there are 95 confirmed cases 79 of them in california and 52 linked directly to disney parks. the state lab in richmond handles testing for every county in the state.

doctors cannot give him the vaccine so the family has asked the school to make sure all the kids are immunized for measles to protect him. the school has been very accommodating but marine county has one of the highest rate of personal belief exemptions for vaccinations in the state. today marks 26 years since is 13-year-old aileen was kidnapped from dublin. a march and candlelight vigil is scheduled to take place tonight along the same route. her case remains unsolved. tonight's march begins at 7:00 p.m. at wells middle school. parts of the northeast are bracing for even more snow. it will arrive late tonight and two to four more inches of snow with below freezing temperatures lasting a week. all over new england dealing with more than two feet of snow

record as you can see not a drop of rain in san francisco. we thought last year was bad 2014 with .06 but not a drop of rain unless we get a phantom rain storm. here you see the patchy fog trying to regroup around the coast and bay so this is 6:00 a.m. could impact visibility and more sunshine in your friday afternoon. here's the area of low pressure to our south with the rain fall with los angeles to san diego to phoenix later on today into tomorrow but high pressure rebuilding off shore keeping us with hazy sunshine and mild conditions. some of the clouds storm track sneak in from the north sunday into monday of next week. as far as rain chances this forecast model keeps us dry to the north of the bay area. by next week a potential change for later thursday with more rain showers developing off shore. could be a factor in the forecast for next weekend
