involving the investigation into a dismembered body. san francisco police are releasing a new photograph of a man they are calling a person of interest. ktvu's christien kafton joins us now near market and 11th street in san francisco. police are being careful not to call this person a suspect? >> reporter: that's right. san francisco police issued a series of fran of the man -- paragraphs paragraphs of the man in question. >> we have put out a picture of a person of interest that the investigators would -- investigators would like to talk to. >> reporter: this was taken from a camera. officers won't say whether he was spotted handling the suit case or what peaked their interest. a white male in his 50s or 60s. 5'7" tall. wearing a pinstripe baseball hat, blue and orange jacket. police say he may be a

transient. as for the victim, the medical examiner said it was a light skinned male. at this point they are looking into all possibilities about how he wound up in the suit case. >> gang relates, anything there is a suspicious death it raises questions, especially when you discover the body in the state it was. >> reporter: san francisco police told me they are still looking for evidence and possibly looking for more videos shot around the time the body was dumped here. >> any word from the medical examiner on an identity and how the person may have died? >> reporter: at this point no word on the identity of the person. the investigation into how they died is still underway. officers are calling this a suspicious death. not a homicide. officers will use every tool they have including dna. >> christien kafton live in san

francisco. thank you. crews worked today to finish boarding up the remains of the three story building that burned wednesday in the mission district. people who lived in the apartments had a chance to get some of their belongings today. but what she wants to get is in her apartment and that is still off limits. >> all of my tools. all the records of my work of my life. my family photos. my newest projects. i don't know if i will ever get them. i am 73. do i have time to do it again? who knows. >> 10 businesses on the grounds floor were also destroyed by the river of water. one person died. six were injured and 50 people are without homes. no official word yet on what caused the fire although some say that a candle may have

started it. the family of a man struck and killed by a police cruiser filed a lawsuit against the city. it happened last august as he was in a crosswalk on east 12 12th street at the time investigators said the officer was responding to a call but not traveling at a high rate of speed. he died a few days later from his injuries. the complaint was filed by his wife and children. it does not specify an amount for damages. the owner of a cafe said what happened there is horrible

and he is sorry. earlier this week a comedian wrote about what an employee said to him. ktvu's cristina rendon tells us that employee was fired for what she did. >> reporter: reeling from a back lash they never expected. he visited the spot monday on his birthday and what happened next resulted in this blog post, happy birthday, have racism. >> i heard about it like most people did. i read about it on the internet. it is terrible. >> the owner is upset and more than apologetic. >> reporter: he wrote he visited the cafe and breakfast and returned for lunch. he heard knocks coming from the window. he writes i look up and see one of your employees staring at me and jerks her head to the left and i see her mouth say something, scram. he said being told to get felt like he was in 1963 alabama. he says the employee apologized

and said she thought he was trying to sell something. the owner says the incident is enexcusable and the employee is gone. >> this is not who we are. this is not what we stand for. that is why i made a decision oo terminate the -- to terminate the employee. . >> reporter: customers say the actions of one do not reflect the action of all. >> awful. i want to apologize. deeply to him and his family. >> reporter: cristina rendon, ktvu channel 2 news. >> he did not respond to our request for comment but he and the owner do plan on having a public discussion about what happened next week. they haven't finalized the details on where and when. this afternoon ktvu channel 2 news confirmed a worker at a kaiser permanente call center died from bacterial meningitis. it is the first case this year.

we obtained e-mails sent to employees. they said kaiser has been advised the woman had bacterial meningitis and that employees who work close to her have been contacted. 400 people work at the service center answering phones for human resources. we spoke with a doctor who tells us it is understandable that co-workers are concerned. >> very serious life threatening conditions. and even those who recover may have permanent damage to the brain. >> today kaiser confirmed a second case of meningitis but it is viral meningitis and a less serious illness. kaiser said it is encouraging any of the workers to contact their doctors if they had close contact with the deceased woman. we have new information about a second patient being tested for ebola in sacramento. since our report at 5:00 p.m. ktvu channel 2 news learned the

patient at kaiser permanente tested negative for the deadly virus and has been sent home. the patient was admitted wednesday. officials also announced today the test results ruled out ebola for a patient suspected at uc davis medical center. a decade long campaign for clean energy in san francisco is finding new life thanks to a turn around by the mayor. supporters held a news conference today to aaapplaud -- applaud mayor ed lee for reversing his position and called for it to include job creation. they are happy the mayor is now on board. >> but we want to make it clear that we are going to be working with him, we will pay attention to the details and we want to see this program take shape now and take shape this year. >> supporters say the idea is
