the bejeebers out of his mother. the prank that just never gets old. always a tough job for firefighters. this is the lawrenceville cedarhurst fire department. they are arriving on the scene of a structure fire. immediately witnesses say there are people trapped inside this large apartment bu it's a huge building so the crew is a volunteer crew they are working with several other fire departments. immediately they get their ladders out and they can see the man trapped in the w >> what's up, buddy? >> [ inaudible ]. >> the whole apartment? >> he's hanging out the window. >> small window. how they going to get him out of there? >> you can tell it's not an easy area to get to. they are up on one roof of the building working on several different ladders, trying to work their way up to him while other firefighters are working on the inside to work their way towards an >> at this point you don't know

how close he is to the fire. >> you can see the smoke coming out the open window. obviously it's close enough. >> firefighters are working with their extension ladders. they also bring in one of the tower trucks and the tower truck ladder is fully extended but they cannot get to this man. he's trapped inside a bathroom window. now you can hear the desperation in this man's voice. list >> help! there's fire at my back! >> at one point you can hear him screaming it's burning me it's burning me. the firefighters doing everything they can. >>! >> i'm breaking this window. >> firefighters now smashing out the man in all his desperation, knowing that they're close, runs out of that bathroom window and over to this window. the firefighters still really unable to pull him out. he tells them -- >> listen listen come out feet first. all right? >> the man seems to understand, goes back inside.
