chorus of calls for parents to get the measles vaccine. officials encourage vaccinations but some question the safety of vaccines and opt out. ktvu's allie rasmus is live where one group of doctors is telling patients to get the vaccine or go somewhere else. >> they put that policy into place two years ago but they stay is important to have. there are now 92 confirmed cases of measles in california. >> do you want go first with the shot? >> no. >> he didn't have a choice. they came in for their booster. they got their first shots, this is their second dose. >> all done. yea! >> reporter: they are going to disneyland in a couple weeks. the epicenter of the measles

outbreak that started in december. >> super scary. there is nothing you can do because it is air born. it is on surfaces. you want your kids to be protected. >> the doctors wanted all of their patients to be as protected as possible from the measles. a couple years ago they instituted a policy. >> children should have the mmr vaccine by age 2. and if not we ask them to find another doctor. >> get the shot or good somewhere else. he says the health of the kids who can't get the vaccine convinced him to enact the policy. >> we have lots of kids who are susceptible to measles. infants under a-year-old, children who have diseases. >> reporter: they have one of the highest rates of measles

a water main break flooded the intersection of union and fillmore in san francisco today. we are over head about 11:45 a.m. this morning. two businesses were flooded and water was turned off for two blocks. no word yet on what caused the women -- water main break. pleading not guilty to sexual assault. the 19-year-old is accused of raping a woman in january on campus. if convicted he could face 10 years in prison. ktvu's azenith smith was in court as brock turner faced the

judge today. >> reporter: the judge issued a protective order. a restraining order against brock turner so he is not allowed near the victim. brock turner dropped out of stanford since the accusations and that is a relief to many students here. >> reporter: [ inaudible question ] >> reporter: brock turner walked into the courthouse without answering questions from reporters. defense attorney on one side. father on the other. he let his attorney do the talking, entering a not guilty plea to raping a woman outside a fraternity house january 18. documents state he admitted he had been drinking. he just wanted to hook up with the girl. >> these sexual assaults happen on campuses, at parties across the country. >> reporter: she praised the

uncovers leaking fire hydrants. the public utilities commission says they are a drop in the bucket compared to the total water delivered to the city. ktvu's melanie woodrow is in san francisco tonight and koved some of the fire hydrants -- discovered some of the fire hydrants were fix in 5, 6 months or longer. >> the public utilities commission says it aims to fix them within a few days but we found some that were leaking for months or longer. part of the problem may be in the p.u.c.'s paper work. the public utilities commission took over fire hydrant maintenance from the san francisco fire department around 2010. there are just 5 dedicated p.u.c. workers to maintain 12,500 fire hydrant. most leaks are reported to 311. the p.u.c. admits some were missed while

killing 7 people. firefighters battled two early morning fires today. 2:00 a.m. this morning firefighters responded to a call. 4 hours later they got a call the building was engulfed again. 40 firefighters responded and were able to prevent the fire from spreading. >> it was like -- smells like a cloud of smoke, orange flames. , like, i heard it, oh, my god. what is going on. >> seems suspicious? >> yes, it does. out one minute and then they have to come back again. suspicious. >> we spoke to the owner of the towing business he doesn't have insurance. i think it could have been intentionally set. investigators are looking into

warm storm. you know who hates to hear this? the ski resort. we need the snow pack in the sierra. this time of storm has the potential to go up there and melt the snow. run it off early. we can't capture a lot of it and we lose the snow pack. a double edged sword. this is great. loving it. loving getting the rain. good amounts of rain. but in the mountains we could lose the snow pack. nothing going on -- they will get snow but the lower elevations could be melted. heavy rain. this line is what we will be tracking. it is too early to say it will drop down to san francisco, and just -- this is what we will be forecasting. within 36 hours of the event we will get better at it. right now just no heavy rain north. you saw that coming.

life's the food that brings us together. and kitchens where every meal is the most important of the day. tonight wee hearing the story we are hearing the story of a pregnant woman who delivered her baby on the freeway. >> my water broke on the freeway. >> she is trying to make it to the hospital in utah when her water broke. she pulled over and called 911. a highway patrol trooper came to help. this trooper we see rushing to her aid caught the baby. >> he was just in the emergency lane. i could feel the wind of the vehicles blowing by. >> i am grateful i have easy

[ laughter ] >> baby is doing great. dad was out of town. he was on the phone with mom right before she made that call to 911. >> incredible. much of the pre-packaged foods for toddlers contain salt and sugar. researchers looked into packaged foods for infants and toddlers. for toddlers a third of the dinners tested had added sugar and 7-10 were high in salt. researchers say parents need to look at nutritional information closely for the foods they choose. the manufacturers said the research doesn't reflect the wide range of healthy choices that are available. they said the study was done in

2012. eager to scour western sonoma county. over the weekend a meteor streaked across the sky. >> john fowler tells us despite the report of a brush fire at the time people may be in for a disappointing search. >> reporter: 8 minutes before 1:00 p.m. saturday afternoon. dozens of residents saw it. >> bright light moving across the sky. fiery. and enough to encourage people to think it was an airplane down. big and bright. >> reporter: similar to this fire ball two years ago. it probably weighed a couple hundred pounds. >> seen in the day time. had to be bright. somewhere in the size of a basketball. maybe bigger. >> reporter: the remains of meteorites are highly prized. scientists study them. collectors value them for their
