not too early to start planning for super bowl l. ktvu's john sasaki is live tonight in the city. john? >> reporter: one year from now the party will be picking up as more than 1 million people flood the city. >> the city where cable cars climb half way to the stars know how to do it big. >> the energy will be high. >> reporter: parties don't get bigger than super bowl l. >> a celebration for the bay area. >> san francisco travel association president just returned from phoenix where he scouted out the super bowl celebration. >> so much work that needs to be done. we have to identify venues. work with sponsors. big parties. activities. >> one venue will host the nfl experience. mayor ed lee says it should be no problem for san francisco.

>> we are a convention town and we know how to manage that. that is what we do. >> reporter: hotels across the bay area will be packed. and in making the bid for the super bowl the city had to block off 16,000 rooms for the nfl. the omni hotel has half of 362 rooms set aside. >> we have a number of sister properties that hosted the super bowl. we will draw off their experience. >> reporter: during the game city features shown during broadcast will include golden gate bridge and coit tower giving the world great views to entice them here. >> fantastic. fantastic. you have a beautiful city that who wouldn't want to come. even if there is not a super bowl. >> reporter: restaurants expect a big spike in business. >> it will be a good week.

a lot of people in the city. a bonus. >> reporter: as for getting to levi stadium, mayor ed lee plans to take public transportation to see what it is like and he invited us along for the ride. >> john sasaki in san francisco tonight. thank you. getting to levi stadium from san francisco isn't easy. it is 40 miles away. an hour away by car but with traffic on game day it takes longer than that that is why everyone will be urged to take caltrains. a former raider warren sapp is accused offsult and soliciting a prostitute in phoenix this super bowl weekend. tmz obtained this feeto. he was arrested this morning -- photo. he was arrested this morning. two women got into a fight with him over money.

he played for the raiders between 2004 and 2007. he was in phoenix covering the super bowl for the nfl network. the network said he was fired following his arrest and the arrest comes during a big super bowl sex trafficking sting. they made 23 arrests. 570 for sex solicitation and 68 victims were recovered. a 19-year-old who dropped out of stanford after being arrested for rape pleaded not guilty today. ktvu's azenith smith was there as the charges were read. >> reporter: do you have anything to say? >> reporter: brock turner walked into the courthouse without answering questions from reporters. inside the courtroom the 19- year-old let his attorney do the talking. entering a not guilty plea to charges he raped a woman who

was unconscious and intoxicated outside the fraternity house january 18. while he didn't have much to say in court, documents state he had been drinking. he just wanted to hook up with the girl. >> these sexual assaults happen across the country. >> reporter: he praised the gradiant to saw the assault and tackled him before police arrived. >> they are listening. thank you. thank you for doing the right thing. they stopped a sexual assault. >> reporter: the victim told detectives she doesn't remember much but she remembers not giving consent. >> i think we forget because we are in the bubble of stanford. these things are a normal occurrence. >> reporter: this comes as students protested before on

how stanford handled sexual assault cases. they said it has turned its finding to the district attorney office and launched its own investigation. >> hopefully they are thinking about their decisions, you know, as you go about your life and going to parties and stuff, this is on the minds of females and men. >> reporter: brock turner moved back with his fam teal ohio. -- family to ohio. the victim who is not a student is recovering. she requests privacy at this time. brock turner is due in court march 30. azenith smith, ktvu channel 2 news. a group from the sacramento area showed its support for a jewish fraternity at uc davis. two swastikas were painted on the fraternity house thursday

morning. no arrests have been made. they condemn all acts of hate targeting members of any faith or background, including rejecting anti-semitism. one week since a dismembered body was discovered in san francisco and now we are learning more details. wednesday police shut down streets after discovering parts of the dismembered body in the suit case. investigators are still searching for other body parts, the head or hands. police say they won't say where they are looking. they arrested a 59-year-old last friday. he was their original person of interest in the case and is now held on suspicion of murder. >> we have not located the other missing body parts but we are still searching for them. >> police say he was spotted around the area where the body parts were found. but it is unclear what kind of

evidence they have. the medical examiner is in the process of trying to identify the victim and determine a cause of death. officials today confirmed a new case of measles. the patient is an infant in southern california. and this brings the total number of cases in california to 92. ktvu's allie rasmus tells us the outbreak is causing concern in the bay area. >> reporter: getting a shot is an experience that could be almost as painful for the parents as it is for their kids. [ crying ] >> reporter: the measles vaccine is in high demand right now. >> we have gotten hundreds of phone calls over the past couple weeks about the measles vaccine. asking if their children are up to date. >> because of the outbreak he is bringing in toddlers for

their shots earlier. >> we felt those children needed to come in and be protected. >> reporter: they are going to disneyland disneyland in a couple week. they got a booster shot today. >> reporter: doctors instituted a policy requiring all patients over 2 to get the measles vaccine or go somewhere else. >> we have lots of kids who are susceptible to measles. infants under a-year-old, children who have diseases. >> reporter: marine county has one of the highest rates of measles exemptions. the peaked in 2012 with 8% not being vaccinated. it has down down slightly since

then. the number of cases continue to grow. the latest case, an infant in southern california who was too young to get the vaccine. allie rasmus, fox 2 news. . a congress woman is on capitol hill pushing new legislation to beef up personal data protection. she introduced the bill with a washington state democrat and a texas republican. it would require a warrant to obtain someone's e-mail. apple says it is investing $2 billion to turn a factory in arizona into a data center. apple says it will employ 150 people and 100% of the power will come from renewable energy. the building was owned by another company and was supposed to be used to make screens for iphones but the

the coast guard released footage of a rescue involving five people on a sinking sail

boat. it happened saturday, 120 miles off the coast after someone triggered an emergency beacon. the boat was a 65-foot, it was hand built. the coast guard says the people on board were returned to shore uninjured. no word on the fate of the boat. the builder was arrested in 2013 for biting the harbor master's finger in an argument. authorities in the east bay are searching for a man who sexual assault an 8-year-old girl at the 99-cent store. ktvu's noelle walker reports it happened with the girl's mother steps away. >> reporter: shoppers flocked to the 99 cents only store for bargains. >> it is cheap. >> reporter: but he says cheap

groceries come at a price. >> a whole lot of undesirables. you know, at this location. you know, that be lurking around. >> they are looking for children at are unable to defend themselves. the sheriff's department says on sunday 1:45 p.m. an 8-year-old girl was the victim of a sexual assault inside the 99 cents only store. >> while she was playing in the toy aisle a man approached her and forced his hand down her pants. >> reporter: while the girl was playing with toys. investigators are wondering if this is the first time the suspect has done this. >> this is a -- a well known method that child predators use to target children. >> that is sad. really is. >> reporter: his active three- year-old is never out of his sight. >> it is a job. but you got to do it.

you know? because their safety is in your hands. >> reporter: we saw other parents keeping their kids close. >> if something does happen she will scream, you know, stranger danger. i try to make that known to her. i don't want anything happening like that. >> reporter: investigators are looking at surveillance video and interviewing the girl today. >> this is a high priority for the sheriff's office. >> warning anyone with children to always keep them close. >> reporter: we saw detectives going from store to store tonight. if you know anything about the assault the sheriff's department wants to hear from you. noelle walker, fox 2 news. >> suspect is a black man in his late teens standing 6 feet tall with a light complexion. he had a flattop haircut and was wearing a white t-shirt, dark jeans and black tennis shoes.

anyone with information should call the sheriff's office. vandalism during antipolice protest results in felony charges for one man. the windows of several businesses were smashed on november 26. 22-year-old is now charged with seven felony counts of vandalism. prosecutors have always charged him with -- also charged him with wearing a mask. caring for dozens of dogs rescued from a home in fresno. it took 24 hours to rescue the dogs. ktvu's claudine wong tells us the staff say they weren't going to leave a single one behind. >> reporter: everywhere you look -- >> they want to be petted. >> reporter: in every available

space. are dozens of dogs. all just rescued by the spca. the shelter was already full. when the staff heard about the situation they couldn't turn their backs. >> old lady breeding for 40 years. was starting to have health issues. >> reporter: she was being evicted and the dogs dogs had to go somewhere or be put down. they got 100. >> when you are there, you know, don't leave anybody behind. >> reporter: they were in need of significant care. she showed us a picture of one of the dogs. >> this is the dog. we have had a team of people helping. this is the dog now. that is the same dog. >> reporter: each transformation is expensive and then the medical and dental

a dry january. here we go. into a wet weather pattern. it will get wet. it will be wet in a lot of places. matter of where the most will fall. right now looks like the north bay. we will be tracking it for you. know your friday morning commute will be dicey for rain and wind too. we had temperatures today like these. not like you would expect in february. 69, almost 70 in santa rosa. rain already falling to the north. that is an indication on how moist which atmosphere is. right? there is not much going on here in terms of dynamics other than you have moisture hitting the coastal range and dropping out rain. that is the type of weather system that is coming our way. a moist one. streaming from the date line, you don't need a lot of dynamics to get rain. the hills will get you rain.

that is 2500 miles of subtropical moisture that reaches deep -- or low into the atmosphere. if this looks familiar, it is. this is what went on in december when we got all that rain. remember? foot of rain in the north bay. areas south got lot of rain. this wants to point to the north bay. right now, the -- hose, will be north, we have a long way to go. the story is how far south will the heavy rain go? lake chateau, pillsburry, sonoma, they will get a lot of rain. what is the down side? it is a warm storm. thursday, friday. warm storm. high snow levels. a lot of rain. melts the snow pack.
