today, friends, family and fans are mourning the death of a bay area rapper well known locally after he was shot and killed in oakland last night. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. oakland police are now investigating the deadly shooting that claimed the life of the rapper known as the jacka'. sal castanedo heard from people who knew the artist and heard the shooting. he joins us live. >> reporter: tori, oakland police haven't said much. they have confirmed to us that the dead man is domonic newton,

37 years old, known as the jacka'. a well-known oakland rapper who broke into prom mip knowns in the early '-- prominence in the early '90s and 2000s. it happened on mcarthere macarthur boulevard in east oakland. word quickly spread on social media. many took to twitter to express condome lances. damemyian lillard sent a tweet saying -- >> reporter: another have sent tweets. people who knew newton said he was a good man who didn't deserve to die this way. >> he's one of the most humblest and grateful person i ever met. he would give you the shirt off his back and the shoes off his

feet. that's how he was. >> got me sick, man. got me sick. >> reporter: today, bay area hip-hop radio stations have been airing tributes to the jacka'. and remember his days with a band. a lot of people say this is an important time and newton played a big part of the growing scene in the '90s and 2000s. the jaw was prolific -- the jacka' was prolific. he had a hundred albums. he told his followers he didn't care about money or fame. he cared about his family, music and fans. we have people on twitter like e-40 sending condolences. this is something being felt in the community in oakland. back to you. >> thank you. there is a new horrifying development out of the middle east in connection with a jordanian pilot captured by

isis. pictures of the -- on the group's website appear to show him being burned alive. we're not showing the video. but jordan confirms it shows its pilot being executed. the video reportedly shows the 26-year-old pilot caged, doused with a liquid and lit on fire. the pilot was captured in december when his jordanian f- 16 crashed in syria during a u.s.-led coalition mission. president obama says if the video is real, it's another indication that isis's ideology is bankrupt. >> it's just one more indication of the viciousness and barbarity of this organization. >> jordan's government says the pilot was martyred a month ago. on january 3rd, last week, jordan said it was willing to trade the pilot for a prisoner, if isis could prove proof of

light. it could not. jordan is vowing revenge. ktvu has learned investigators are looking into whether remains found in a suitcase found in san francisco are those of a missing man from vallejo. the suitcase was found last wednesday outside of a goodwill near 11th and mission. police say the missing man once lived with the man under arrest in the case. 59-year-old mark andros. andros is being held on sphishen of murder. investigators went out searching for more evidence yesterday >> at this point we've not located the other missing body parts but we're actively searching. >> san francisco prosecutors have not filed charges yet. we'll have more details online. san francisco police are also investigating four home- invasion robberies that happened over the past four days, although they are not bleeferned to be related. the most recent incident occurred around 9:00 off irvine and wild avenue in the

visitacion valley. police say a person with a gun entered the home and forced two people living there to the ground while four other people ransacked the home. over the weekend, there were home invasions in the city's diamond heights, market street, and in the ocean view flabd -- neighborhood. all of the scripts suffered minor injuries but are okay. police don't believe the robberies connected. alameda county deputies are searching for a man accused of sexually assaulting a little girl in a 99 cents store. this is video of the man police say attacked the girl at the store. it happened on sunday afternoon while the girl's mother was shopping in another aisle. >> she was playing in the toy aisle, a man approached her. and forced his hand down her pants. >> investigators are concerned this may not be the first time the man has done this. the sheriff's department is warning everyone with children to keep a close eye on them and

is asking anyone who sees or recognizes the suspect to give them a call. more than 90 people have now been infected with measles statewide. here in the bay area there are more than a dozen cases. berkeley school officials are among those taking action. tara moriarty reports on the plea to parents to va nate -- to vaccinate their children. >> reporter: if there is an outbreak -- >> reporter: there was a robocall that went out. >> it's not something that we come up with. it's just a fact. >> reporter: one that berkeley school officials say is federally mandated. 21 days is the incubation period for measles. >> when you are not vaccinated, you are putting others at risk. >> reporter: some parents have chosen not to vaccinate. places like schools can be a

breeding ground for measles. it is airborne and can linger in the air for two hours. if you have someone at home who has the measles you have a 90% chance of getting it. still, some parents think the plan to send kids home is too harsh. >> must be some other way to implement measures without ostra sizing -- ostra sizing children. >> reporter: according to the website, in 2013, the number of kindergarteners at berkeley unified were vaccinated, flux waited from 14% to 95%. >> what does that do to a child who needs to make up some ground in reading or math or science? that's a big chunk of the year to miss. >> reporter: tara moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. high-profile politicians are taking sides. last night hillary clinton tweeted her -- stated her views

on twitter. she said the science is clear, the earth is round. the sky is blue and vaccines work. let's protect all. our kids. she added a hashtag grandmothersknowbest. she was apparently responding to comments from chris christie and rand paul that parents should be able to choose whether to vaccinate their children. there is growing concern about a popular plaza in the castro district which some say has become a magnet for bad behavior. we were there when police were called to break up a fight bean a homeless couple. officers arrested the woman on charges of domestic violence. neighbors say scenarios like this are becoming more common as well as other problems, including dangerous dogs, drug dealing and litter. >> it's just an unfortunatest what the space -- unfortunate waste of space. now i think it's transitioned. >> there are a lot of people that aren't home les come out

the widow efrobin williams is in a legal fight with his three adult children from his first two marriages. susan williams claims robin williams's children have removed personal property from the tiburon home she shared with williams. she says zach, zelda and cody williams removed jewelry, clothes and memorabilia days after their father died including his academy award and other trophies. his children say they only

took what their father warrant wanted them to have. residents are back in an assisted living center. it started at 4:00 a.m. the flames spread to the garage of the assisted living home. a caretaker says a neighbor woke him up and he alerted other people inside. >> my roommate came running through the house and said, hey, we gotta get out. the neighbor says your car is on fire. at that point, all ill needed was a pair of pants and the door. >> crews were able to control the fire before it spread to the home. no one was hurt. but at least one car and the garage were damaged. firefighters say the cause was accidental. fish and wildlife rangers reports 1,000 banned tailed

starts thursday, will last through the weekend. we'll be in an out of the clouds. dry, well above average. by thursday afternoon, that rain moves in. it develops over the north bay. rain and wind expected at least for thursday night into friday. it could be breezy as we get into your weekend. fast forward into thursday. we'll come back to our temperatures for today. there is the rain line over the north bay. as i progress into friday, notice the rain line does not work at all. the rain still north of the golden gate bridge, still north of i-80 for the central and south bay, it may take until friday before we see the rain. we're into saturday morning, we wake up scattered showers. we're into sunday morning and we have the leading edge of another round coming our way. there's night. rain still in the forecast.

we could wake up with it monday morning. great news coming our way. as far as rainfall totals, these could be upgraded as we get closer. but right now, it looks like anywhere from 2 to 5 inches for the north bay to 2 for the central bay and an inch, perhaps more, for the south bay. we'll see how it shakes out. >> right now outside of the door, we have 60 in oakland. 60 for sfo and low 60s for mountain view. as we get into the afternoon, again, well above the seasonal norm and nice for us. upper 60s in vallejo. 68 in oakland. 70 degrees for antioch. 66 for downtown san francisco. get into the south bay, 70 degrees san jose. 72 for morgan hill and 71 los gatos, the extended forecast here, dry weather as we get through midweek wednesday. it all begins to change. fortunately, not expecting to see a lot of snow in the sierra. it is a warm storm. you can take note with the

numbers. our afternoon highs in the upper 60s. it's not a cold storm. snow levels are expected to stay 65 homecoming, maybe above 7,000 feet. >> we need the snowpack. >> it will be good. >> thank you. the spca in solano county is taking care of more than00 docks rescued from one home in fresno. the dogs belong to a dog breeder who had a good reputation until her death began to fail. she was facing eviction and the spca said the dogs had to be taken somewhere or they would be put down. staff went to the home, thinking they would find about 30 dogs. instead, they found more than 100. >> when you are there, you know, you don't leave anybody behind. you pick them up and take them back. >> the rescue took 36 thoirs, the spca said the das are in need of pretty significant care. some will be ready for adoption as early as this weekend. watch out, uber, there could be another ride sharing

smartphone applications are based on google maps. google's chief legal officer, also a member of uber's board has reportedly informed of gook -- google's plans. apple is planning to turn a failed iphone screen factory in arizona into a massive data center. according to arizona's governor, the tech giant plans to invest $billion into the may -- $2 billion into the mesa center. the governor says the facility will serve as a command center for global networks. it turns out to killing a mockingbird will not be harper lee's only published book after all. she was a new book come out 60 years in the making. harmer announced that, "go set a watchman" will be the second book. she completed it until 1950s and put it aside. a friend discovered the manuscript last year. it's a sequel to mockingbird and features some of the same
