forced to shoot a suspected shoplifter. . our top story is developing news. there are two scenes police are focused on related to a deadly hit and run. we'll have more on the details that we've learned from police this morning. we'll check in at the scene. good morning, thank you for joining us. it's wednesday february 4th, i'm pam cook. >> and i'm dave clark. are you going to be the fog brothers you and sal. >> sal may have a tough time talking about it. >> we'll help him. >> we will help him. there's lots of fog from mountain view to east bay, so watch out for some of that fog. it's thicker today than yesterday. we're waiting on a fog system, and we'll get higher clouds and nothing happens rain wise until

thursday and not until friday for others. things will develop more so tomorrow. 40s and 50s on your temperatures here. fog half mile visibility until about a mile visibility and that is flirting between two and they. some of the pockets are really thick fog. there are a lot of 40s and 50s, higher elevations have cooled off in the santa cruz mountains. overall we're waiting for the system to move in. it's a day away. there's a lot here it will take a lot to get here. fog, some filtered sun and clouds rolling in, partly cloudy to the south and cloudy to the north. most of the temperatures are above average for this time of the year. here's sal soldiering forth. >> that's right my voice is a little shaky, but i feel good. >> that's all that matters. >> that's all that matters. right. let's look at the commute now on 80 westbound. you can see there's a backup at

the toll plaza it's about a 20, 25 minute delay getting into san francisco, if you're driving on interstate 880 and south, the traffic looks good, it's not too bad when you head south to hayward. 580 is getting busy as you drive through livermore and get out to the dublin area. it's getting slower out of the stone valley -- stone ridge exit heading south. it's 6:02 let's go bah being to the desk. back to developing news we brought to you about 90 minutes ago. a police investigation, they're at two scenes. one is at able street and a half mile away from coyote street in a residential neighborhood and that's where our reporter is right now with the dramatic scene that first responders found. >> this is normally a quiet

residential neighborhood off of able and you can see it's now roped off with crime tape and here on coyote street you can see there are scrape marks on the road here in the middle of the street from the car that you see there in the distance that is badly damaged and burned. they put up a black barrier that's because the body of a woman in that car is laying next to it. they have determined that that vehicle was involved in a hit and run crash that occurred at 3:30 this morning. the person who was hit called 911 reporting the crash, the suspect vehicle sped away. officers drove around the area looking for it and found the car on fire a half mile away on coyote street. they found the woman with major injuries on the ground and she was pronounced dead at the scene. >> we have our evidence technicians to look at the

scene and to fully investigate the scene. we don't know right now how many occupants may have been in the vehicle. right now we're aware of a single occupant. >> police still don't know if the deceased a as driver or a passenger of the car. officer are interviewing the victim of the hit and run accident to find out more information. we were told there were two people in that car and neither of them are injured and they are cooperating. they're hooking for witnesses of the accident at both scenes to help them piece this together. a traffic investigation team is going to be out here to determine how fast the car was traveling if the person there who died was ejected or not and if that was the only person in the car or perhaps if there was someone else at this point. they just think it's a sole occupant that died here. back to you. >> still a lot of questions to be answered though. thank you. some people attending a vigil for a woman shot and killed by emeryville police who

was shot and killed outside of the home depo. they shattered a glass wall of the home depot. they scrawled the woman's name on the store's windows. we've not been told if anyone has been arrested for that vandalism. the demonstration was over the police shooting over the shopping center. emeryville police responded to a report of a combative shoplifting suspect at the home depot. they chased the armed woman into west oakland where police shot and killed her in a confrontation. while details have not been released friends say it's yvette henderson. they have a strict doctrine for the faculty and staff at catholic high schools to abide by. one of the four high schools

where teachers, tara they were handed a copy of that document. >> yeah, and after all of his same sex, his preaching against same same-sex marriage in one of the gay friendly city's in the world, with you of the most gay spendly cities in the world. >> i thought it would be important to bolster the catholic identity of the schools by clarifying what is in the contract. >> this doctrine is nothing new for catholics, it's a clarification of what the church has been preaching for years. san francisco archbishop lays it outside lays it out, homosexual relations and the viewing of pornography and masturbation and sex outside of marriage are immoral. and he calls the use of a

plane crash. this is what happened in teipai. it's after 10:00 at night. there in the river, rescue crews, this is what happened. rescue crews are using a crane to try to lift the plane out of a shallow river, they found 15 people still alive so far. they're hoping to find even more survivors now that the fuselage is out of the water. amazingly the plane crashed while captured. i'll show you this is on a dashboard camera belonging to a person who are somebody who happened to be driving by. it fell out of a sky over a highway, hit a taxi and hit the side of a bridge. at least 23 people are dead, some of the passengers are still not accounted for right now. it was a twin turboprop plane. it had just taken off when it plunged and then crashed. the plane ended up in the river

we had been showing you and rescuers in that water searching for victims, they're having a hard time since some of the passengers may have been thrown out of the plane. they had found black boxes on the plane and will be examined and analyzed. the radio tower received the black box. a man had been released. mark andrus was leased and there is not enough evidence to file charges against him. they've not identified the victim or determine the cause of death. >> they haven't indicated that they want him to report or they're going to be monitoring in any way. he has no plans to leave san francisco. so, he'll be here. >> a source tells us that police want to determine if the

body warts were those of 58- year-old omar shahwan who was reported missing from vallejo and said to be afriend of andrus. they plan to go to the supreme court taking their antitrust case against major league baseball. it's two weeks after a appeals court ruled against them. it's not clear if the court will take up the case. the court only agrees it hear less than 1% of the appeals if receives. san jose is arguing major league baseball should be exempt from antitrust laws and san jose should be allowed to compete for the oakland a's, they have been blocking the move that they have territorily rights to santa clara county. >> the time is 6:10, military pilots from jordan killed by islamic militants, the video

. welcome back, time 6:13, the sheriff's department is searching for a man who exposed himself on millbury. it happened near heromos avenue. authorities say the man exposed himself and committed a lewd act towards a woman who was waiting at a bus stop. on the left is apholate owe of the car he drove away in. a light colored four-door sedan, it has a rear spoiler on it as well. >> reporter: a jury in new york is going to decide the fate of a san francisco man who is accused of running an underground website. the federal judge will spend an hour reading legal rules to the jury. prosecutors say there's a lot of evidence that approves that

30-year-old ross all brick was the digital kingpin of silk road. he did create the website, but he handed it off to another operator. they say their client was set up by manipulated evidence. authorities were pressured to make an arrest and shut down that website. two state senators plan to introduce new legislation to boost i am anysation of public schools. they're dealing with the worst measles outbreak in 20 years. it would tighten or opt out clauses to allow parents who choose not to vaccinate children because of religious or personal beliefs. there are a sizeable number of children who have not had recommended vaccinations. it's girl scout cooking time. starting tomorrow there will be a new way to get those delicious cookies you love. you can go online. it's the first time that in the most 100 year history the cookies will be sold online.

and mild conditions, it's not as warm, rain returns, it looks like thursday for the north bay, it may be until friday, for others, there will be another system on sunday. north bay, i'll tell you some of the projections are incredible. others are not much. 4 to 8 inches of rain, it looks to be in the ballpark, let me fine tune this tomorrow. it changes all the time. a system is waiting for us, it's like spokes in the wheel. you need the main wheel and you need impulses to get things churning, that's not happening tomorrow. an increase of clouds coming in and this is coming up from the hawaiian islands. you can get a tremendous amount of rain, it may stick to the north pay on friday and dip out. 53 napa and 49, mid-40s,

petaluma and at 43 degrees, fog visibility is half mile to a quarter mile, about a mile for three to some. it's thicker in livermore and reports of good fog and reduced visibility. a lot of cloud cover on the way, nothing organized yet, it won't show up until late tomorrow. we need a little ripple or spin. that's key right there as that lifts out. that he is two-days away. clouds will be on the increase. 32 up in truckee. these are warm warm systems. snow will be very high. maybe about 7500 feet. sunday looks cooler, there's cool air behind and the wind will pick up and everything will take shape tomorrow. one system late thursday, and friday likely for some. sunday into monday, late saturday, once the door opens and the clouds roll in here, fog, clouds hazy skies, temperatures will be in the 60s and # 0s, it will be in the north bay on thursday, again

. welcome back to mornings on 2. the damage from that four alarm fire in san francisco's mission district it's estimated at $8.6 million. the exact cause is being investigated. the owner of the building has determined that this building is no longer safe. he's not letting anyone inside. one man died in the fire, dozens of people have to find a new place to win. and one of the young victims of that fire received an honor from the city's board of supervisor. we're talking about this 13- year-old gonzalez. he was home alone on the third

floor when the fire started. he smashed out a window, grabbed his dog and climbed down the fire escape to the second nor. it was there that he was able to safely jump to firefighters below. gonzalez thanked the salvation army and the red cross and all the donations he received since the fire. even though it's grateful it's been a tough week. >> i try to not to think about it, go to soccer practice, it's been a little hard. >> the fire chief haze, praised gonzalez for his courage and said he should consider a career in firefighting. what is making see lyons sick at the coast. a surge of sea lions pups are turning up emaciated and sick. it's treated at least 100

california sea lions. most are pups, but there are adults as well. you can see how malnourished they are. they're turning up on beaches and as far south as baha, a commuter train hit in new york, and they came down around her on the tracks. sparked protests in community. we'll tell you what was learned about the woman killed yesterday and what investigators are saying about the confrontation here. it's getting busier out there as you can see by some of these pictures. traffic in marin county doesn't look too bad as you get to 580. >> lots of reports of thick fog and reduced visibility. it's going to take another day or two before we get into the rain. we'll have details.

right. >> right down there. >> thering it it is. >> a lot of fog out there this morning. they get some breaks and clouds increased throughout the afternoon. 40s and 50s on your temperatures, and we're waiting for the system and most of it will roll in on friday. for the north bay it will start to roll in. we may have to wait another day or two for many on the rain. some low 40s but low 50s as well. hayward 53, sfo in there, san francisco in there and look at that pittsburg and the yak and brentwood, it's very foggy and there is fog around concord as well. maybe where you are, you can let me anywhere you are, half mile visibility in santa rosa, concord that's gone down. it's gone from a throw to a half mile. it's picking up from 6 to #. we're looking at increasing clouds throughout the day. there's plenty out this.

scenes, one is near malpitas and able street. a half mile away on coyote street that's where the suspect's car was found in a neighborhood. and we have more on what the first responders found. >> reporter: we learned new information in the last couple of minutes that the other vehicle involved in this hit and run accident was a garbage truck. there are still a lot of questions that remain here at the accident scene because it is spread out and you can see one person is dead. police have roped off coyote street which is off of able so they can collect evidence. well, police have determined is that this car was involved in a hit-and-run accident that occurred at 3:30 this morning at malpitas boulevard and jaquelin. a person who was in a garbage truck called 911 reporting they had been hit. officers searched for the car that fled the scene and found

it unfire on coyote street. they put out the scenes and found a woman with major injuries on the ground. she was pronounced dead at the scene and they told us what led them to this neighborhood. >> they were looking for any type of evidence of the suspect evidence. there was some debris that indicated that it may have come this way. >> there are scrape marks on the road near the suspect vehicle which may provide clues on how fast this car was traveling. they don't know whether the deceased was the driver or the passenger of the car. they're interviewing the two victims of the hit and run. we're told neither are injured. they're looking for witnesses of the accident to help them piece this together. we don't know the identity of the victim and it's too early in the investigation and the coroner won't be called until they're done with the investigation out here. very interesting, the police have confirmed the other vehicle was a garbage truck to

hear about the impact of that if that is what caused this car to burst into flames. more plans to catch up with the lieutenant on the scene to find out more information. back to you. >> we'll talk to you later. thank you. anger of a emeryville police shooting, demonstrators vandalized the store on what started out as a peaceful vigil. we're joined now where the woman was suspect was shot and killed. alex savage? >> reporter: the woman who was killed by emeryville police has not been officially identified but a lot of people in the community supporters say her name was yvette henderson. you can see at the scene of the shooting there is a memorial set up in her honor. investigators were gathering evidence as dozens of protestors came here to gather

just beyond the crime scene tape for a vigil. it was a crime scene vim i will in the city of oakland where the shooting took place. the event was peaceful until a small group of protestors marched over to the east bay bridge shopping center smashing a window at the home defoe store and vandalizing the store with graffiti. police say the woman who was killed was shoplifting shortly before being shot just before noon yesterday. emeryville police officers chased that woman after receiving 911 calls. a woman was armed with a gun running down the street and she ran down the street of oakland and that's where an officer opened fire on her leaving her dead. witnesses told us the confrontation was quick. >> it was so fast, she apparently came right up to my car and then the screaming started and screaming her, screaming them, bam, bam, bam,

and i can't tell you who shot first or anything like that. >> investigators will be be checking into whether the emeryville officers involved in that shooting were wearing body cameras at the time and whether they will be caring what happened. there will be three separate investigations as to what would take. oakland police will be investigating emeryville police will investigating and members of the district attorney's office will be looking into the shooting as well. police say they did recover the woman's gun at the scene yesterday. what is unclear, though, pam, is if she fired any shots yesterday or aimed that gun at officers. those questions have to be figured out. >> certainly an ongoing investigation. thank you alex. an investigation is under way for a deadly officer- involved shooting in and the i don't like. deputies were serving a move out order as part of a domestic violence restraining order.

a man charged at them with a knife and that caused them to open fire and he was killed. the district attorney's office and antioch police are all investigating. our time is 6:37, 90 minutes ago we received new information about last night's horrible crash between a suv and computer train north of manhattan in new york. the death toll has been revised downward from 7 to 6. five people were killed on that train along with the driver of that suv. the red line of a jeep cherokee became stuck on the tracks when the crossing gates came down on the car. as she tried to drive off the train was hit by the train and the car and the train burst into flames. >> it was a fire ball, we under understand the first two cars that came through. so, it was quite hair rogue. >> what i saw in that front train is something i'll never

forget. it was completely charred and burned. >> the impact of that crash caused the electrified third rail to just buckle. it actually pierced the train. also this morning, federal investigators announced they will focus on the crossing signals to figure out if they were functioning properly. >> tensions remain high in the middle east after the barbaric killing of a jordanian fire pilot by islamic state militants. brian flores is in our newsroom right now to talk about how they retattleiated. it appears they've done that by executing two prisoners sentenced to death all. of this in response to a video showing a jordanian pilot burned alive. and one of them was a al qaeda woman who was caught in a suicide bombing attempt earlier. they wantedded to exchange her for a pilot, but the exchange

never happened after jordan demanded proof the pilot was alive. they now say it believes he was killed a month ago. it was barbaric, it shows him in a cage soaked with an accelerant and set on fire. some are demanding revenge, and this act by isis will backfire. >> they'll motivate muslims in the territory they've taken over. i don't expect isis has a long future. >> king abdullah was in washington, d.c. meeting with president obama at the white house. he called isis cowards. and there's the role of social media and how this played in it. isis supporters were tweeting outweighs to execute him. while they're seeking revenge and they blame the pilot being killed on the jordanian

government and oman that they say is a battle between the u.s. and isis. >> it's an intense situation. >> thank you brian. there's a problem with the eastern span of the bay bridge, it's the elevator in the signature tower of the new span. caltran says there's a problem with the elevator's door and drive shaft. it's designed to get maintenance workers to the top of the tower and it was supposed to show a unique view of the bay for investors who paid for the span. our time is now 6:41 and new this morning, staples is buying office depot for more than $6 billion. the two companies have 4,000 stores. they expect this deal will save

. welcome back to mornings on 2, more information is coming out regarding a east bay rapper who was shot and killed in oakland monday night. friends of domenic newton was known in the music industry as "the jacka." they called him a loving memory with a message that drew people to him. a memorial where he was gunned down continues to grow. he was in achad macarthur where a gunman hit him in the head. >> he was always positive even in his darkest night. he always shared light. to me, that's what i'm going to remember more than anything.

>> local music experts say he was a rapper who did not glamorize the criminal lifestyle. one of his influences was marvin gay. >> our time is 6:45, the alameda sheriff's department has a sketch of a man who molested an 8-year-old girl in a toy section of a 99-cent store. it's an african male 6 feet tall, flattop haircut wearing a white t-shirt and jeans and tennis shoe. it's a blurry image of the suspect. deputies say the assault happened sunday inside the 99- cent store on mission boulevard in hayward. the girl's mother was shopping in another aisle of the store when it happened. a merced pediatrician facing charges for child pornography for allegedly putting a hidden camera inside a patient

for the north bay for tomorrow and not for some areas in san francisco on friday afternoon or evening. it's on its way so fog this morning. fog fair, one of my least favorite words. they're cool, and i'll put on the breaks. at 10:00, hazy and mild later this afternoon. rain is on the way for many. it may take awhile for all. thursday and friday, and again on sunday into monday, a flash flood watch. we think it will happen to the north on friday morning. we're still two days away. north bay, projections are incredible for some of us, we're easing into this. it's a tough one, but i've seen 10 to 16 for the next five to seven days. cloud cover back here, we'll have to wait, there's a little dynamics, but these are the types of clouds coming. it's still offshore, what's there, and it's bringing back in fog. there are a lot of fog reports.

43 wood side, and palo alto 46, san mateo is warmer. and it will be mild, and for concord airport about a quarter a of a mile to a mile. and san ramon thick fog and there were reports in sfo and the peninsula not too much. a level of high clouds, and that's it. we have a few disturbances there. and if you take moisture line, you can cool and condense it, 32 up in truckee, these are warm systems and it will be high, and it will go down to 65 by sunday. 45 in monterrey. the system is moving in and it's a day away. we'll have high clouds today and mixed sun. we have two systems, one on thursday and friday and the next one on sunday and monday.
