>> reporter: crews in vallejo are working to restore power to hundreds of homes after a tree snagged some power lines. we'll tell you how many homes are without electricity in the bay area at this hour. new developments in a mysterious homicide in san francisco. only suspect named in the dismembered body case is now dead. "mornings on 2" continues. and it is 7:00. we're live in vallejo, where hundreds of people are dealing with the aftermath from the weekend's storms. high winds, toppled a tree which then crashed into a power pole and an suv last night. coming up in two minutes, a new update from pg&e about the power outages and how long it will take for crews to fix those trouble spots across the bay area. good morning. welcome back to "mornings on 2." it's monday, february 9th. i'm tori campbell. >> good morning.

how did you deal with the winds? >> hufnler -- hunkered down. >> yeah, we all did. let's talk about the weather. >> there was some rain, russian river and some areas where there was 4 to 8 inches. lake county, middletown almost 8.5. cass za it der row, russian river, 7. santa cruz mountains, 7. forestville, 5.25. petaluma, 3.10. san jose 1.67. two reports in san francisco. one from steve at mount davidson. the other from the did dubose triangle. the second system responsible to the breeze to the wind is up to the pacific northwest. still shower activity, fort bragg, willits, mendocino county, lake county north.

after that, there's not a lot in napa or sonoma county. but there is a little bit. but everything is beginning to lift northward. still a breeze but nothing compared to what we had on the weekend. still a breezy, blustery day. higher elevations, 35, 40. at the surface it's beginning to calm down. more sun to the south. temperatures, 60s to upper 60s and with the humidity factor very high, so another day of above average on the temps. had an issue in the south bay. that's been cleared up? >> no. that issue in the south bay on highway 9 is weather related, at least we think it is. a big tree came down and took some power lines with it. we'll talk about that in a moment. we'll start off with a look at the toll plaza because a lot of people are trying to get into san francisco. we had a stalled vehicle on the upper deck of the bay bridge. that's been removed. if you are driving into san

francisco, you should give yourself at least 35 minutes here even though it's improving on the bridge. a big backup at the toll plaza. hip 101, san francisco, north and southbound, you can see this traffic is just moderate. not a lot of slowing, 280 extension also looks good. steve and i were talking about highway 9 at 35. a big tree came down. >> took power lines with it. that's not the worst part. it severely damaged the road. they have to rebuild it. this will be closed until 5:30 tomorrow. we have detours in the area. if you are in that part of the santa cruz mountains, you will be in for some big delays. add that to your schedule. back to the desk. >> 5:30 in the morning or the evening? >> i'm sorry. 5:30 p.m. tomorrow. >> okay. >> we're looking at a huge -- >> okay. thank you. 7:03. high winds are keeping pg&e crews busy this morning. thousands of people were left in the dark from this week's storms. ktvu fox 2 news reporter, tara moriarty is live in vallejo

where a tree knocked out power to hundreds of customers. good morning, tara. >> reporter: yeah. we have new adage numbers. first we want to show you the damage on burnham and baxter. there are downed lines. we're waiting for pg&e to come and remove the prins -- remove the power outages and then the tree trimmers will have to remove the trees that snagged the lines and snapped the pole in half. nearly 400 homes still without power. since friday, nearly 157,000 people have been impacted by outages. 6:15 this morning, 2900 people are without power. most of them centered in the north bay. one outage shut down a grocery store in antioch. >> i was bagging and the power went out. it turned back on. and then it went back out. there was a few people in here. we pretty much closed after

that. >> reporter: most of the outages are expected to be restored by later this morning. pg&e brought in crews from oregon, washington and arizona to help with the outages from this storm. and we saw crews bringing in the new poles to replace this broken one. we're told it won't be completely fixed until 4:00 this evening. tara moriarty, back to you. >> thank you. well, the rain is helping boost northern california reservoirs. two of the state's saw a little bump over the weekend. shasta lake jumped from 45% to 47% capacity. folsom lake from 46 to 47%. here in the bay area, levels at lexington along highway 17 in santa clara county, increased from 32% to 39%. and those levels will likely rise when measurements are taken again today. >> all right, tori. 7:05. parents in store, they are dropping off their kids at a

preschool that was heavily damaged by fire on friday night. alex savidge is there at the school. teachers worked all day to prepare the schools. you are saying the school still needs more help to recover. >> reporter: yeah, they are still looking for donations. getting quite a few of them already after this weekend fire. i will tell you in talking with parents already this morning, they are feeling a sense of relief that this fire didn't happen while the kids are. they are very grateful that the school is open for business today despite this devastating fire that destroyed about half of this facility. that particular area has been cordoned off, it's offlimb is. teachers will be using the rest of the school for the kids. many of those kids are already here at the children's learning center on steele lane in santa rosa. we've seen parents dropping kids off early this morning. about 30 children come here every day with -- and now they will have half as much room. it will be a tight squeeze for

them. last night teachers were here rearranging classrooms and getting supplies ready for the school day. all of the damage was done during a fire that burned down late saturday night. it burned down five rooms destroying construction paper, puzzles, glue. many materials were bought with money from a grant the school received. we talked to one mother who just found out about the fire when she got here to drop her son off. >> i just heard about the fire. she toed me picture -- showed me pictures. horrible. horrible. >> reporter: are you feeling a sense of relief that you can still drop him off? >> i do. but i feel bad for them. >> reporter: already, you are seeing an outpouring in the community in santa rosa. people who have heard about the fire have already stopped by to drop off donations to the school. meantime, investigators are trying to figure out the exact cause of this fire that did so

much damage at the school. but dave, it does appear as though it was an accidental fire. in all likelihood caused by a faulty electrical system. >> all right, alex savidge live in santa rosa. thank you. oakland police have released this sketch of the man accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy who was on his way home from school. the suspect is described as latino, 40 to 50 years old. 5'7" with a slim build. he has salt and pepper hair and beard and police say he looked unkempt. he was wearing a brown leather jacket and black pants. the alleged assault happened january 22nd as the boy was walking home from school on 98th avenue. the boy ran away and escaped running his parents. a kensington police sergeant has been suspended after his badge, handcuffs and handgun were stolen by an alleged prostitute in reno last

year. a bay area news group investigation found the gun in the hands of the prostitute's pimp who accidentally shot himself in the leg with the weapon. 7:08. the santa clara district attorney may seek death penalty in the case of a murder case of performing a lewd act on a child. police say he was baby-sitting his girlfriend's child at her home in east san jose, when he raped and then killed the baby. district attorney jeff rosen says he will announce whether he will seek the death penalty in this case later this year rosen decided not to seek the death penalty in six eligible cases since taking office. but last year he decided to seek the death penalty for

antolin garcia-torres. 7:09. jordan is hammering islamic state targets after the brutal killing of one of its pilots. in three days, they've launched more than 50 stroo strikes. the militant group has suffered heavy losses of men and equipment. the coalition against isis has grown to more than 60 nations. officials in jordan are calling claims that one of their airstrikes killed an american hostage, propaganda. kayla mueller was working to help refugee children in syria when she was captured in august of 2013. but up until friday's announcement. her family and a few close friends had kept her situation a secret to try to ensure her safety. >> the family has been very, very cognizant of kayla's safety. so the secrecy surrounding this case has been one of those things that they kept their cards very close to their

chest. they made certain that all demands were met. >> the u.s. says so far there's no proof she was killed. she's the last known american being held captive by the islamic state group. 7:10. jury selection goes on today in the trial of the man accused of fatally shooting former navy s.e.a.l. chris kyle. now, kyle is portrayed in "american sniper." eddie ray is charged with killing kyle and another man two years ago at the shooting range of a luxury resort. more than 260 potential jurors are due to report today to district court near fort worth, texas. legal experts say the court may have a hard time finding jurors who have not already formed an opinion about this case because of the popularity of that major blockbuster movie. >> yes. 7:11. puzzling twist.

today, all the west coast ports are expected to be back open for business after a weekend shutdown. we just got off the phone confirming oakland's port will be open. the pacific maritime associate operates the terminals and shipping companies at the 29 west coast parties. the association says union workers have engaged in a work slowdown. a contract expired last june. the two sides have not been able to reach a new agreement. so this could cost the u.s. economy $2 billion a day. that's a lot of money. joining us now is tom vacar, who has been following reporting on this. you've covered the issues on the port for years. some of the articles i was reading today. nasty words going back and for the. they are talking about vindictive work slowdown, just because the ports are reopening, i'm thinking everyone is not solved?

>> remember the b.a.r.t. negotiation? same deal here. the pacific maritime association, this is a conner consortium of all of those going in the shipping lines. they actually provide the orders for work that need to be done by the international long shore workers union. what's happened since about october, it's gotten bad to the point where pretty much at this point in time all of the ships that service between the west coast united states and asia, primarily china, are pretty much bunched up along the west coast. the strings of boats are no longer strings. they are a parking lot. they are either sitting in the bay, at the port of long beach, at a dock or orbiting off the coast. point of all of this being we've gotten to a point where the crunch is so bad that poor operations are almost the standstill. so today the port of the pacific maritime association said they are opening the ports but they do expect that the slowdown will not be

continuing. i think that's an unreasonable expectation and the semishut down that we saw over the weekend, may lead to a full- blown shutdown of the ports within days now. main even hours. >> people are sitting at home and wondering how the average person will be affected. >> they already have in some ways. for example, produce coming in from asia and we have we import a lot of -- we import a lot of it. a lot of it has not been delivered. a lot of icy dying on the docks and the boats. the same for the exports. a lot of agricultural people. what they have to do is sell them at fire sale prices domestically or any other way they can sell them.

they have either had to go to flying parts in or curtail operations, lay off ships or ships of people because they can no longer build what they need to build. >> this has been going on since october. what do you think it will take to end the labor dispute? >> i don't know it's endable. both side had very hardened positions. some of the things that the long shore workers are asking for are simply unacceptable to the pma and vice versa. at some point, there has to be blood letting. the last time we had that was in 2002. at that time, it lasted for ten days. it was a mess. this has lasted for month. this may well threaten the viability of the ports. ships may be going to the east coast to the gulf coast. there's a lot at stake.

we want to check in with sal, keeping a close eye on the commute and some problems out there. >> good morning to you. we're looking at a commute where traffic will be busy in many areas. we have a little extra in some commutes. let's take a look at highway 24. it looks like it's very slow in la fayette. it will stay that way all the way up to the tunnel. not a lot going on when it comes to crashes along the stretch. but you will see some slow traffic to be sure getting up to the tunnel. also looking at the bay bridge toll plaza, we had an earlier stall. that's gone. it was gone rather quickly. it kind of caused slower than usual traffic on the upper deck of the bay bridge. looking at the rest of contra costa. 680 is slow from 242. according to the road sensors. it stays that way into danville and alamo and if you are looking at the eastshore freeway, it slows west of highway 4, all the way down to

berkeley. i do want to remind you that highway 9 is closed because of a landslide and power lines down. that will be today and tomorrow as well. let's go to steve. thank you, sal. we have a little bit of a calming down. breezy, blustery. but not nearly as windy as friday. most of the weekend, i think this was a wind event. but there were decent totals. our system is moving north. mendocino county, lake county more in line for rain than anybody else. rainfall totals, i do believe -- i can't ever remember, i think this is my first emeryville rain totaling, thank you, ronald henry. 2.60. about time. your traffic. hip 9? >> you need it to rain? i could schedule outdoor paintth at my house, that will make it rain. >> sure was coming down. >> sure was. i will get to that that highway 9. we have a map to show you highway 9 in a moment. the damage is pretty bad to thed roo. we'll start out with a look at the other commutes. a lot of other people ask about the bay bridge toll plaza, it's backed up for 35, 40-minute delay. why is it so bad? we had an earlier stalled vehicle on the upper deck of the bay bridge. it kind of messed things up a little bit even though they got the stall off the the -- out of the way. let's take a look at the commute on the san mateo bridge. it looks like there is a stall on the right-hand side. the tow truck is there on the scene. you can see frashing lights -- flashing lights. highway 9 this is going to be closed for the next two days, almost the next two days, as they fix a landslide and a tree

that came down. it's kind of a multifaceted problem in the area. you have to avoid the area. use alternate routes. it won't be open until tomorrow evening at about 5:30, according to the chp. it is 7:35. back to the desk. >> all right. thank you. san francisco police are busy investigating some new developments in the case of that dismembered body found in a suitcase on a san francisco street. janine de la vega is live at the hall of justice with details about the death of the suspect in the case. >> reporter: this is strange timing that just a week after his arrest that he has now died. now, this could complicate things for police here at the hall of justice because they could have had more questions for him. the suspect, 59-year-old mark andrus had been released from jail because the district attorney said there was a lot of evidence. he had checked himself into an area hospital on saturday for reasons unknown and that night

he died. he was arrested over a week ago on suspicion of murder involving the grisly discovery of a man's torso in a suitcase on 11th and mission street. the case is very much an active investigation. still still have a lot of questions that need to be answered. was there a second suspect? had officers arrested the among person? a lot out there. here's what what one former prosecutor told us. >> i'm sure police are tracking down other parts of missing persons right now. to the extent that you can identify missing persons and take dna samples from interest -- from their relatives, you can compare that. not an easy investigation. >> reporter: andrus 'public defender learned about his death from the media and said i'm sorry to learn that mark andrus has died. during the short time, i represented him, i found him to be a kind and engaging person. police are still trying to

identify the dead man from the suitcase and who he was with before he was killed. that will likely require a lot of forensic work. as far as andrus died, we don't have an official causer why he admitted himself in the hospital. one of his friends said he seemed to be deeply affected by his arrest. dave? >> janine de la vega, thank you, in san francisco. we'll talk to you later. 7:38. one of two men arrested with a street racing crash in san jose that killed a jogger will face a crash. gab preel -- gave brie el -- gab brie -- gabe esparza is due in court today. 40 homes have been burning.

firefighters are up against 50 to 75-mile-an-hour winds. but the rain did help make some progress. the communities of paradise and squaw meadows have been convicted. a fire in oakland that forced more than a dozen people out of their homes is now being investigated as suspicious. it started early yesterday morning at a triplex on east 20th street near 16th avenue. fn made it out safely -- everyone made it out safely. one person who broke a window to eskate suffered minor cuts. 14 people will have to find a place to live. the fire could be suspicious because of how deeply the flames spread. president obama is meeting at the white house with angela merkel. they are due to talk about the

growing violence in eastern ukraine. they may also talk about supplying weapons to ukrainian fighters. that's something merkel is against. president obama and chancellor merkel will hold a news conference after they meet. cybersecurity will be a top issue during president obama's visit to the bay area later this week. mr. obama is due to arrive in san francisco on thursday, then take part in a cybersecurity summit at stanford on friday. the summit will address making online payment technologies more secure and also creating a better partnership between government and private companies to prevent cyberattacks. top polymakers as well as -- policymakers as well as leaders are expected to attend and on friday night he plans to speak pat a democratic fund-raiser in the russian hill neighborhood. there there is a downside

to automakers putting wireless technologies in cars a report says. they are not protected against hackers who can gain control of the vehicles or steal personal information of car owners. edward markey, a massachusetts senator says -- >> the auto appliance group which represents many questioned by markey said -- less than a week remains on the deadline to sign up for health insurance or face financial penalties. the last day is this sunday, february 15th to sign up and if you do not enroll, the penalty is it 2% of your income or a family maximum. of $975 which ever is higher.

it was more than two weeks ago that a huge fire ripped through an apartment building in san francisco's mission district. one man was killed in that fire. more than 60 others forced out of their homes. 18 small businesses also damaged in the area. many of those victims now have nowhere to go. all of their possessions are gone and they are struggling to make ends meet. what happened in the early moments after that fire made one man so mad, he decide to take action. that action has turned into a huge outpouring of support. joining me in the studio is zach crockett. you live in the mission. >> yes. >> near that apartment building. tell us -- you were riding by on your bike.

saw the scene. people are injured. you did not see anyone helping. you saw people taking cell phone voo. >> i was riding my bike home and i passed by as the fire broke out. it was a sea of screens. a sea of cell phone screens. it seemed passive. >> i wanted to go home and do something more direct about it. >> you went home and thought, wow. i'm not any better than these people because i went home. >> not at all. >> you started this go fund me page. 161,000 in this fund. i have to ask, there's so many of those go fund me pages out there, why do you think this one has gained so much attention and so much money? >> i think part of it, the scope of the people it affected. we're talking about 18 familieses this affected. one man had a baby the night of the fire. another couple had been there for 42 years. people who have been in the mission for a long time.

22 fans were killed outside of a soccer match in cairo. violence started as fans started to force their way into the stadium without a ticket. officers fired tear gas trying to clear out a narrow corridor leading to the stadium. that set off a stampede. the head of one of the teams said the police did not open fire on the fans. they say the violence was straighted to upset the upcoming parliamentary elections. investigators investigating the deadly crash involving bruce ginner. deputies want to know who is at fault. investigators say jenner was in the third car involved in the

freeway on 80 westbound as you drive from the carquinez bridge to the macarthur maze. it's taking 50 minutes. that's not the worst time i've seen but it's one of the slowest we've seen in the last few weeks. one time we had a commute for 90 minutes. that's not today. 50 is nothing to -- it's not good. i was gonna try to come up with something clever. when up get to the bay bridge toll plaza, westbound, in san jose, 101, 2280 and 87 are slow -- 280 and 87 are slow trying to get in the highway. highway 9 is shutdown because of a huge free that came down. it will be closed until tomorrow evening. they have to get the tree out of there, fix power lines and also deal with a small land vid -- a small landslide in the area. back to the desk.

pg&e crews are extremely busy. thousands are still in the park. cute ktvu fox two reporter tara moriarty is live where a downed tree is affecting 400 customers. >> reporter: tree trimming crews are standing by. pg&e was here and then they took off around 4:45 this morning and haven't returned since. they will have to remove all of the downed wires you see behind me and get rid of those. we're near baxter and burnham where gusty winds created this mess. nearly 400 homes in this neighborhood are still without power. since friday, nearly 157,000 people have been impacted by outages. as of 6:15 this morning, 2900 people without power. most of them centered in the north bay. we spoke to neighbors around here who say they've been without heat or electricity for 11 hours now.

>> i watched the tv and watching the grammys and all of a sudden, there was a snap, crack and -- like cop porn and lights -- like popcorn and lights went out. >> thought it might have been lightning and all of the power went out. >> i was bagging and the power went out. and it turned back on and went back out after that. there was a few people in here. we pretty much just closed after that. >> reporter: now, that last person was talking about a save mart whose power went out in antioch last night. most of the outages are expected to be restored by later this morning. pg&e crews from oregon, washington, and arizona are helping with all of the outages from this storm. as far as this particular incident in vallejo, we understand that this power pole won't be back up and electricity will not be restored until at least 4:00 this evening. live from vallejo, i'm tara moriarty, back to you.

>> thank you, care tara. two of the state's largest reservoirs saw a bump over the weekend. shasta lake near redding jumped to 47% capacity. folsom lake inched up from 46 to 47%. here in the bay area, levels at lexington along highway 17 in santa clara county increased from 32% to 39% and those levels will likely rise even more when measurements are taken again today. >> every little bit helps. >> it does. public works crews are also cleaning up a lot of debris left behind after a lot of bay area roads flooded over the weekend. now, cars splashed through these flooded areas, including pacheco boulevard in martinez and highway 1 in sonoma county. at times, drivers were slamming on the brakes to avoid crashes, but not everyone was lucky. slick roads, high speeds and low visibility caused several crashes. >> i really worry about that

because one time my car actually spinned after the rain. after that, i carefully drive. >> the tow truck drivers say there were about three crashes per hour. the chp says a lot of drivers were just going too fast and the roads were slick since we haven't had rain in more than a month. high winds caused many flights to be canceled in and out of sfo. winds up to 45 miles per hour made it too dangerous for plans to land and take off. >> coming in, it was rough. we hit turbulence. >> even though scattered showers and winds are expected, sfo does not expect it to impact flights. they have moved their focus to the storm on the east coast which has already canceled 30 flights. well, this morning, parents

in santa rosa are dropping off their kids at a preschool that was seriously damaged by a fire late saturday. ktvu fox 2 news reporter alex savidge is out there now and says -- you say some parents didn't even know about this until they arrived today, alex. >> reporter: yes, some were surprised pie this news -- by the news. but every parent, they are all thankful this preschool is open this morning, despite the fire over the weekend. many parents have said they will have no other place to send their kids if they can't bring them here. the sign says, yes, we are open. half of this school was destroyed by a fire overert weekend. that area will be off limb -- off limits to the kids. thisabout 30 children come here every day and because of this

fire they will have half as much room and it will be a tight squeeze. last night it was the scene as teachers were reabrainging the classrooms and getting supplies ready for the school day. all. damage was done late saturday night during a fire that broke out here in the building. it turned through five rooms, destroying supplies like construction paper, puzzles, glue. many of those materials were brought with money from a grant the school received. this morning, i talked to one woman who showed up this morning. >> i can't believe that happened. devin has been coming here for a year and the owners are awesome. i just love this place. i'm really sad this happened. >> reporter: and this school is looking for donations and already they have seen a huge outpouring from community. people who have heard about the fire have shown up to drop off supplies to try to help out here. investigators are still working to come up with the exact cause of the fire.

but early reports suggest that it probably was an issue with the school's electrical system that started the fire over the weekend. but a lot of parents, dave, are thankful the police is open this morning. they are also quite relieved this fair didn't break out during the week when the kids were here. >> that's good to hear. alex savidge in santa rosa. thank you. meantime, oakland police have released this. it's a stech of the man accused -- sketch of the man accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year- old boy on his way home from school. now, take a look at this. the suspect described as latino, between 40 and 50 years old. about 5'7" with a slim build. his hair and beard is salt and pepper. police say he looked unkempt. he was wearing a brown leather jacket and black pants police say the happened as the boy was coming home on 98th avenue. the boy broke away, escaped and told his parents. the santa clara county district attorney may seek the death penalty in a case where a

man is accused of raping and killing a 17-month-old baby. san jose investigators say 40- year-old 40 the 40-year-old was baby-sitting his girlfriend's child when he raped and killed the killed. joef rosen will announce whether he will seek the deputy in this case later this year. rosen has decided not to seek the death penalty in six eligible cases since et took off fours years ago. but last year he said he would seek the death penalty for antolin garcia-torres, the if- year-old man charged with -- 23- year-old man charged with killing sierra lamar who disappeared almost three years ago. a police sergeant in kensington has been suspended after his badge, handcuffs and gun were stolen by an alleged prostitute last year in reno. 47-year-old sergeant keith barrow was not cited but his

the bored of oakland said all operations are back to normal. that's after all 29 ports were shut down the the pacific maritime association says union workers have engaged in a work slowdown. the dock workers contract expired last june. so far contract talks have not produced a new agreement. tom vacar has been covering this for months. you join us with more insight. what does it mean the ports have opened again? >> the union is doing work to rule. not violating the contract but just like anything, you get used to doing a job a certain way and you become more productive and that's a good thick and they say until we get

a contract, we're gonna work to rule. that's slowed things down by as much as 60%. if this continues and the backup continues with the ships, what will happen within hours, days, the employers, the pma, the maritime association will say forget it. we'll just go into a mode of shutdown and we'll go after that with wherever it goes. >> even if it's settled, how long would it take to get back to normal? >> i would say looking at the port situation, all of these lots, two, three, four months is probably a thing and remember in some of those containers are perishables. and the railroad won't deliver perishables to the port anymore because they say there's a high chance they won't be able to get their refrigerated carts back. >> it's a big mess. it seems like someone should step in the two sides agree.

chuck schumer is urging the centers for disease control and prevention to offer free shots at schools and health clinics. he also says the cdc should do more to let people know about the existing program that provides free vaccinations. many parents should -- choose to skip the vaccine, studies show. the university of california is taking action. it recently announced that starting 2017, students will be required to have measles vaccinations. all incoming students will need immunizations for rumps, rue rubella and -- coming up, rubella and whooping cough.

california saw 1100 cases of whooping cough. those catches of disease were vaccinated according to the report in the sacramento bee. it's because of a new, less potent vaccine introduced in the 1990s. people are vulnerable if they do not get the recommend booster shots. a recent study concluded that the current vaccine provides solid protection in the first year but that the effectiveness steadily declines over five years. health experts say this highlights the need for booster shots. 8:40. well, today, levi stadium starts the transformation from football to hockey. the stadium will become an outdoor ice rink to hose the game between the sharks and the l.a. kings, february 21st. it's all part of the nhl's stadium series. a refrigeration truck that makes ice is due to arrive in

take action. pam cook is in the studio with what happened next. good morning. >> good morning. this is one of the young victims of that fire. we'll talk about him in just a moment. as that fire was burning, though, and people were escaping from their homes, one man riding by on his bike saw something that made him sick. >> i passed right as this fire broke out. it was really just a sea the cell phone screens. >> he saw people taking cell phone video of the flames but no one trying to help the people who were hurt who just had to watch as their homes or businesses burned. that man took action and started a fund to help the people who had nowhere else to go now that they were on the street. >> we're talking about 18 families that this affected. their stories, i mean, one man had a baby the night of the fire, another couple had been there for 42 years. these are people who have been in the mission for a very long time. it's their home. their only place. their community is there. their businesses are there. >> a lot of people related to

investigators are working to answer several key questions about the deadly multicar crash on saturday involving former olympic legend bruce jenner. deputies want to know what caused the crash that killed one woman. it happened saturday on the pacific coast highway in malibu. investigators say jenner was in

the third car involved in the crash and his car pushed the victim's car into another lane before she was hit head on. deputies are looking into whether one of the drivers was making an illegal u-turn. they also plan to look at the cell phone records of all of the drivers involved. jenner released a statement. it reads in part -- alabama fliply became the 37th state to allow gay marriage. they started to issue marriage licenses a couple of hours ago. this comes by a ruling from the zowrt that it will not stop sake marriages from starting. the court turned down the request from the alabama attorney general to extend a hold on a court ruling that overturned the ban on gay
