back to you. >> john sasaki reporting in antioch. thank you. oakland police were out today in a neighborhood where two men were shot and killed last month. they are handing out pictures of a car they think was used in the killing. investigators are hoping someone will come forward with evidence to help them find the shooter. on january 20 police responded to a report of a shooting on 10 10th and campbell streets. when officers arrived they found two men suffering from gun shot wounds. >> we need information that -- who may have bib driving the -- been driving the vehicle. who may have been inside the vehicle. >> the victims were identified as 22 and 29-year-old oakland residents. a reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest. highway 9 has just reopened following a mudslide. traffic was shut down for much

of the day. here is what it looked like on the highway. tries and pow -- trees and power lines also came down. crews finished clearing the mess and the road was reopened. pg&e deactivated fallen power lines and a shelter in place has been lifted. p 30 customers are still without power. a tree fell on to a power pole. it happened about 1:00 p.m. this afternoon near cedar lane. 15 residents were told to stay inside and close all doors and windows. pg&e plan to work through the night on repairs. tree crews have been busy all over the bay area since we were hit with the performs over -- rain storms over the weekend. ktvu's noelle walker talked to a tree expert who said many of the trees could have been saved. >> reporter: the oakland hills.

that is where the failure starts. >> reporter: all it needed was wind. they have 32 jobs going today on the peninsula. >> as you can see we have -- there are no roots. >> reporter: some of the trees fell because of rot. just saw dust and ants were holding it up. >> you can probe in and you can detect all this. this is very detectable from the outside. >> finding out the problem before it takes out power lines and a roof is less expensive. and less stressful. >> could have been a lot worse than it was. >> reporter: than cleaning it up after it falls. tripping and thinning could save the tree and save you money. noelle walker, ktvu fox 2 news. the strong winds brought down a huge tree on to two homes. the tree fell on friday night

but was still there this morning. no one was home at either place when it came down. no one was hurt. we spoke to one of the owners, he is planning on meeting the adjustor tomorrow. and the storms also had impressive rain totals. chief meteorologist bill martin joins us with a look at how much rain we got. >> friday, saturday, sunday and over night sunday, totals were good. especially in the coastal hills. these are local cities. santa rosa 4 inches of rain. that is good stuff for downtown santa rosa. oakland 2 inches of rain. san jose 2 inches of rain. where is the 5, 6 inches of rain? the coastal hills. russian river. santa cruz mountains. ben lomond half foot of rain. good productive weather. rain in the bay area. exactly what we needed. came at the right time. we had a flood watch that was

in effect. that went away. no problems with flooding. the accummuleses -- accumulations. santa rosa 100%. san francisco 109. that is good stuff. we will see dry days. the fog returns. we will tell you where the fog will be and we will look for the next bout of rain. >> all right. thank you. after a weekends of outages post of the power is back on around the bay area. pg&e says more than 160,000 customers lost electricity. before this afternoon, 1400 are still without power. pg&e says 2,000 workers have been dedicated to storm response. they brought in crews from southern california as well as oregon, washington, and arizona to help get the lights back on. the port of oakland with 2 dozen other ports along the west coast reopened today after a partial weekend shut down.

there were some crews working over the weekend sorting through the back log of containers. the focus was on unloading the containers and while some did get move truckers say little was accomplished. >> we have nothing that effected us here. i don't know what work they did. maybe they cleaned up. it didn't give us a chance to move containers. >> some customers did get a few containers but not enough to maintain a normal production schedule. negotiations dragged on since may and both sides are dead locked. >> i could see it happening like 2002. shut down till the government forces them to do the cooling off period. i don't see any hope right now. >> some of the sticking points are wages, healthcare costs and

work safety rules. strange twist in the story of the dismembered body found in san francisco's mission district. the man was arrested and released, died over the weekend. ktvu's david stevenson is in san francisco with where the case stands. >> reporter: police source tells ktvu they do not believe the suspect acted alone and they are looking toneural view other people. -- to interview other people. >> reporter: he died of gastrointestinal bleeding and shock saturday. he was the suspect in the death of a unidentified man who dismembered body was found in a suit case. investigators do not believe he acted alone. >> we are still trying to locate the other body parts. however i don't know that there is a daily search going on in the city. >> reporter: he was free from jail tuesday after prosecutors

declined to file charges. siting a lack of evidence. >> our investigation will continue. we have an active investigation. we have unanswered questions. >> reporter: his friend was living on the streets friday when he stopped by to borrow a sleeping bag, food and water. he says investigators must now rely on forensic work and interviews. >> retracing activities, talking to people. trying to find a path that leads to the murder of the individual. >> reporter: i spoke this morning with his brother who lives in washington. he described his brother as a good person and hasn't been in contact with him since he was released from prison on tuesday. >> bizarre story. thank you. a man is facing charges after police say he went on a

crime spree before crashing into a car. he and a friend were in a car at a red light on saturday night when police say someone driving a stolen car slammed into them. no one was hurt. police later arrested the 32- year-old ronnie moody. investigators say before ronnie moody stole the car he tried to steal a woman's purse and struck an officer with a car. investigators are contacting bruce jenner and other drivers involved in a crash about getting their cell phone records. investigators want to know if distracted driving played a role in the crash over the weekend. such a request is routine in major wrecks. bruce jenner wasn't texting while driving and will provide his phone records. the crash left one woman dead. bruce jenner was not hurt. suge knight will remain in jail for now. prosecutors said today they are

working on new charges against him. suge knight was charged with murder, attempted murder and hit and run after he hit two men in a parking lot during a confrontation last month. suge knight will remain behind bars for six weeks as they prepare for a hearing on evidence that may include other crimes. a trend, parties to infect your child with measles. we will see if the measles parties are occurring. the international guard unveils new equipment. why the chinook helicopters areker considered one of the -- are considered one of the most important aircrafts in the sky. the free way is heavy going there. look at another camera. >> this is the grade. you can see traffic is very heavy there on this monday. back with more after this.

parties is spreading like wildfire across the country. [ indiscernible ] >> measles parties. >> reporter: a way for unvaccinated children to catch measles. >> we wanted to know if they are happening so we called around and took our search online. media reports about it. a search on craigslist came up empty. we called health departments in san francisco, contra costa county, alleada and santa clara. -- alameda and santa clara. they do not have proof they are occurring and then we facebooked a woman. she said the party never happened. how did the story make

headlines? it may stem from a statement the california department of public health made, they said they do not have information to share about the background or frequency of parties but they recommend against the intentional exposure of children to measles. >> measles is a very infectious disease. >> reporter: she would discourage parents from purposely getting their children sick. [ indiscernible ] >> reporter: it appears that won't be a problem since there is no proof the parties exist. cristina rendon, ktvu fox 2 news. there is a push for all children attending head start pree schools to be vaccinated. law makers are pushing new legislation to do that. the bill would only allow parents to opt out if a medical

condition prevents the child from being vaccination. parents would have three months to get shots up to date. they are a federally funded program. there is more than a million children attending the program across the country. evacuation orders are in effect for two towns in the sierra nevada because of a wildfire. the fire destroyed 40 homes so far and burned 7,000 acres. started friday and was fanned by strong winds. rain yesterday slowed down the fire but was not enough to put out the fire. four firefighters suffered minor injuries battling the flames and the cause is still unknown. well, all that rain yesterday came down, today is different. now to our chief meteorologist bill martin with what we can expect. >> different week this week. it was great.

it will take a couple mornings to build up. patchy tomorrow morning. the warming trend is underway. started today and continues tomorrow. wednesday. or tomorrow and thursday. on thursday we could see mid- 70s for the warmest spots. that is really warm for february. dry pattern. lessens the air quality. the high pressure puts a cap on the environment so the morning commute and the afternoon commute, the particulate gets stuck in the atmosphere. that is what the air quality management district could warn us against. no spare the air day issued now but they could. 66 fremont. these are not february temperatures. we are dry. right through this 5 day period. enjoy it while it lasts. holefully there is something around the corner. in the meantime mid-70s into the bay area weekend. valley fog a reality.
