[ indiscernible ] >> are not vaccinated or immune they could catch measles. >> reporter: officials said a resident with measles took b.a.r.t. to san francisco last wednesday, thursday and friday during the morning and evening commute. >> we carried 25,000 riders. a train car at that hour, probably 130 people. >> reporter: officials say on wednesday night the person ate here on sutter street. >> very good food. >> reporter: he is a regular. [ indiscernible ] >> the person with measles works in downtown san francisco and linked in officials said they were notified tuesday one

of their workers was sick with the virus. a spokesman for linked in said: the health and well-being of our employees is our absolute top priority, and we will take whatever steps are advised to ensure their safety and the safety of the general public. officials in san francisco say measles is contagious and they recommend everyone getting vaccinated. >> if i had measles anyone in the room an hour after i live could become infected. >> reporter: the manager of the restaurant said no one has reported being sick and he said the health department said it is safe for the restaurant to remain open and as for that person in contra costa county who has the measles they are at home and recovering. >> mike mibach, thank you. the health department said there have been 110 confirmed measles cases in california. 39 visited disneyland. 8 were exposedane community set

we haven't talked about that could write a check tomorrow. >> gavin newsom has been the lieutenant governor since 2011. before that he was the mayor of san francisco for 7 years. a former state worker was in court in sacramento on charges of bringing a loaded gun to the secretary of state's office. he was arrested in january after authorities found a backpack with a loaded pistol and extra ammunition in a bath room. his attorney says it was a mistake. blown out of proportion and he was heading to a firing range after work. they fired him and filed a restraining order against him. we have breaking news to tell you about in san jose. police are investigating an officer involved shooting. this is the scene from news chopper 2hd after 5:00 p.m. tonight. police were called called for a report of a man with a knife in

a home that didn't belong to him. that is all the information we are getting from police. witnesses say the man was a san jose student and he threatened officers with a knife. and police opened fire. we have a crew on the way to the scene. we are working to get more information from police. we will update you before the end of the newscast. police arrested a man who fried to run over a police officer on monday. the incident happened when officers tried to stop a suspected car thief but the driver came towards one of the officer whose opened fire. injuring the driver as he drove away. police contacted area hospitals and found a man with a gun shot wound. the suspect is danny rodriguez- garcia. he was treated and booked into jail. we know the identity of the dismembered body found last month in a suit case in san francisco. the medical examiner said today

dna evidence positively identified the dismembered body as 58-year-old omar shahwan. but there is no word on the cause of death. omar shahwan's father said he is upset police questioned a person of interest in the case, mark andrus, and then released him. mark andrus died saturday in a local hospital of gastrointestinal bleeding and shock. new at 6:00 p.m. a stray sea lion pup found a quarter mile from the ocean on the streets of san francisco. drivers and a ranger stopped to rescue the sea lion and tonight he is recovering so he could be returned to the ocean. ktvu's christien kafton caught up with the ranger who helped save the pup. >> reporter: the sea lion pup got rest today after months of starvation and a search for food this morning that took him a quarter mile inland. a ranger was patrolling the

area in san francisco at 7:10 a.m. this morning when he came on stopped cars. >> emergency lights. pulled over. saw folks on the road. talking on their phones. i looked down and there is a sea lion pup. >> reporter: he got it into a bag. >> not a typical wednesday morning. >> reporter: and brought him to the mammal center for emergency treatment. that was enough time to snap a shot. >> latin to persist or continue. after the journey he had. be able to keep fighting on and get through this ordeal. it was appropriate to name him that. >> reporter: the staff at the mammal center already started treating the pup. we should weight 80 pounds but weighted just 28 pounds this

san jose took a step forward to cut green house goods. they are retrofitting 18,000 street lights. repolicing them with l.e.d. lights. they will cast a brighter light and using half the energy. in addition it will save millions of dollars and the

money will be redirected to other city initiatives and it can dim when fewer people are on the road. >> while we are dimming the lights, at the dim level it will be the same at what it is today. we are brightening the street lights throughout san jose. >> it is part of the green vision adopted 8 years ago to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. a committee heard testimony today on tuition for the uc system. each pays $22,000 premium to attend one of the uc schools money that isn't shared across the system. back now to breaking news we told you about in san jose. police are investigating a police shooting that happened after 5:00 p.m. tonight on sherman street. police were called. there was a report of a man with a knife inside a home that didn't belong to him. at this point that is all the information we are getting from police. witnesses tell us the man was a student at san jose state university. and then he threatened officers with a knife and police opened fire. at this point we don't know the condition of the man. we are working to get more information. we have a crew on the scene. we will have more coverage coming up on fox news at 7:00 p.m. and on the 10:00 p.m. news. mark is here now. more about the pro am. the sports celebrities yesterday and more of the movie celebrities today. >> that's right. the fun continues down there. good weather day.
