>> yeah. it will be warm. we have some records to beat today. kentfield is 74. mountain view 73. they tied a record high of that yesterday. oakland airport 71. downtown oakland would have to get to 77 after yesterday's 79. there is a little breeze coming off the oakland berkeley hills. not as strong as yesterday but it's still there. it will probably be in the mid 70s. high clouds to the north. sfo is already 57. higher elevations 50s and 60s. santa cruz mountains you get up to 60 feet. it will be a warm afternoon. good 10-12 degrees for this time of year.

70s for many. here he is mr. sal castaneda. i've avoided putting any of this weather gloating about it on twitter because i have a lot of people that follow me from the east coast. they are not happy. they are not amused. as we look at interstate 880 traffic in oakland looks good. if you try to catch a flight 880 should do you just fine. also looking at 580 livermore you can see a little bit more slow traffic coming out of livermore on the way to dublin. no problems on the way to castro valley and 680 from pleasanton down to sunol that looks pretty good. let's go back to the desk.

a body has been found near a chiropractorric college. brian flores is at the scene now. brian is near drill boulevard. what can you tell us? >> good morning. still very early on in the investigation but what i can tell you hayward police investigators are here examing what happened here. a body was found at the chiropractic college and also a couple of minutes ago the coroners office arrived but investigators still trying to figure out the identity of the body and the circumstances that led to the death. from what we know, the body was found just after 2:00 this morning. two people that work at the college discovered the male body this morning. still unclear his relationship to the college if there is any. what is also unclear is the role of a u-haul truck that appears to have backed into part of the building. reportedly there is broken glass as a result. homicide investigators are here

obama arriving at sfo yesterday evening as he stepped off of air force one, he was welcomed by san francisco mayor ed lee along with military family members. he will be coming to stanford university to give a keynote address about cyber attacks. he will sign an executive order saying the information between private companies and the government. he made it clear he wants to get -- that will help track cyber threat. silicon valley leaders tim cook will be at the to build partnerships. there is a large media presence. all sorts of national and local media covering the president's visit to stanford. he will be speaking here. before that, there will be a panel discussion in memorial

giving police officers a 16% pay raise over four years. the proposed deal was negotiated by bar row. a south bay postal worker is being investigated for reportedly throwing away mail he was supposed to deliver. the postal service says he worked in the willow grown neighborhood of san jose. he had only been on the job for less than a week when he was seen on monday throwing away packages and letters along his assigned route. the postal service says it did recover all the mail the carrier threw out on monday. >> i have no reason to believe there is something missing. i am waiting for payment from a customer and i'm a little surprised i haven't gotten pit. >> that mail carrier has resigned. he is facing charges of

disguarding and tampering property. national weather service is warning of dangerous conditions at bay area beaches this weekend. it's supposed to be very nice weather so a lot of people might head out to the beach but there is a beach hazard alert in effect through tomorrow afternoon. the swell from the west combined with offshore winds could create larger waves. and people going to the beach are advised to keep an eye on the ocean. be careful when you are right near the water. the other man lost his surf board but was able to make it back to the beach on his own. you know the deadline to sign up for health insurance under the affordable care act is approaching fast. coming up at 6:30, the there is a new humorous video from president obama that is

welcome back time is 6:13. did you see this? security now even tighter around the u.s. consulate in shanghai china after a car rammed into the consulate gate last night. 35-year-old man was arrested you see him being taken away there. his wife told police the man thought someone was trying to murder him and he was looking for help. the man told police he rammed into the gate to get attention. now police say this man has mental problems but he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. no one was hurt in that crash. a woman who drove her car off a central california cliff and spent days in a ditch is

talking about her harrowing ordeal. she was driving down highway 101 when she reached over to put out her cigarette. she swerved, lost control, and careened hundreds of feet down the cliff. for three days she searched for a way back up. >> if i went straight up that mountain i could get out. i just had to keep going step by step and i would stop and pray. >> despite cuts, bruises, and damaged ribs, she made it to the top and flagged down a passer by who called for help. she said the thought of seeing her family again kept her going. 22 u.s. marines they were hurt after being exposed to fire retardant gas during a military training accident. they were conducting an exercise yesterday at the base at 29 palms and extinguishing system accidentally went off. it happened during an assault vehicle exercise. and that set off the release of that gas. there was no fire, no explosion. most of the marines were

treated and released but at least three are in the hospital now being checked out. the army has horizonned hormone treatment for gender reassignment. chelsey manning formerly known as bradley manning was convicted of espionage for leaking documents to the website. the next day manning announced he would be tran is sessioning to a woman. manning is serving a 35 year sentence. the army's decision to provide hormone drugs comes after a lawsuit. the wedding took place in mobile county yesterday. just hours after a federal judge ordered the county to start issuing same sex marriage licenses. earlier alabama's chief justice had tried to stop those marriages saying judges did not have to obey that federal order.

[ laughter ] good morning, everybody. you know, we have a problem on highway 4 i want to tell you about. there was a crash in the middle of the lanes. highway 4. we're watching it and it just cleared. it was right in this area here and it was just removed which is good but the traffic is still slow all the way back coming around as you can see because the accident was there. i watched them work on it for awhile. and they did a good job. let's take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. the traffic is backed up here. it's not a bad commute. this is pretty normal for the time of the morning where we are at 6:17. it doesn't look that bad. and this is the south bay commute. you can see northbound 101 are in pretty decent shape get into the valley. 6:17 time for us to go to the weather center. here is steve.

sal, we have a warm pattern for some. cool for others. sfo and san francisco are sitting at 57 warm degree. there is a little bit coming off the oakland hill. 22 miles an hour. not as strong as yesterday though but still it's there. if you are heading down to monterey 56 to start. 76 for a high today. on the monterey peninsula. it will be gorgeous. sunny and warm temps. in fact it will be warm to mostly sunny and warm. some of the records yesterday downtown oakland sored, rocketed up to 79 degrees. the old mark was 70. oakland airport tied 69 degrees. what about today? it will be close for some. some of the temperatures yesterday as well. salinas 82. that was a record.

stockton 72. reno at 67 degrees. south lake tahoe seventh record this month. another one yesterday at 61 warm degrees. these are the best bets for setting records. kentfield 74. oakland airport 71. sfo at 70 degrees. sfo is already 57. downtown oakland. the record is 77. if that breeze continues to hold it will be closer han that but it's not as strong. plenty of cloud cover out in the pacific. some of it up in northern california. and it equals 40s for some. 50s for others. 40s for walnut creek and fairfield. napa is a little cool there for some. la honda is 56. wood side is 43. foster city is 47. some of the areas are in the

lows. but to see the car behind us in all of its glory is an amazing emotion. >> the sink hole turned out to be a great thing for the museum. it has become a popular tourist attraction. visits have jumped 66%. if you drive on the san mateo bridge, you will see something a little different this morning. pg&e workers will be climbing the towers next to the bridge to install new lights. it will give the tower more visibility for lie pi lots flying over the bay. it's a voluntary safety project by pg&e. bart riders won't be allowed to use e-cigarettes. and while the ban stars immediately, it won't be enforced until new signs are posted saying no ex-cigarettes allowed. fines will eventually range between $100 and $500.

the fight over bicycle access to mt. diablo state park is heating up this morning. in the past three weeks 230 people have signed a petition. that are opposing a plan to restrict cyclists from get into the park by cutting through the diablo community. thousands of cyclists go through that community every year. some people in the community want to put warning signs up. new gates and even speed bumps. they say the cyclists are posing a safety hazard for drivers as well as pedestrians because of blind koshers in the s-shaped turns. 6:26 is the time. it's already made a lot of money. it is set to be a big hit at the box office but not everyone is happy with 50 shades of gray. the reason some are urging movie goers to boycott the film and donate to a cause instead. >> all right it's just day away. the valentines day rush it is on. we are here inside the flower

we're having will more people join us on the morning commute. we will go right to interstate 80 westbound as we look at the east shore freeway commute. and it's taking about 19 minutes to drive from the carquinez bridge to the mccarthur maze but your average speed is up to 50. you will see the traffic is backed up for a 15-20 minute delay. still better than it usually is. i want to show you something here. highway 4 we had an earlier accident on highway 4 right where the flashing icon is. that crash has been cleared from the road but the slow traffic remains. looking good concord and walnut creek. traffic in the south bay is also doing very well sol far. 6:32 let's go back to the desk. we are still following

national media presence. president obama arrived yesterday evening on air force one. the president was whisked away and stayed at the fremont. this is familiar territory from the president who frequently comes here for fundraisers. a topic he is putting on the national spotlight. about 1500 people are expected to attend including silicon valley leaders including tim cook. later tonight the president will be at a fundraising dipper.

welcome back to mornings on 2. we're following developing news in hayward where police are investigating the grim discovery of a body near a chiropractic college. brian flores is at the scene right now and brian, you've been talking to police. >> reporter: we have. we have new information but i do want to set the scene. we're at life chiropractic college west. this is off industrial and depot in hayward. investigators remain on scene. they will likely remain on scene for a little bit longer to complete this investigation. but what i can tell you is that the body, the male body found early this morning at the college has been taken away by alameda county coroner. i'm here with tay sha with the hayward police department. what do we know so far and what happened? this may have been an attempted

robbery. >> it looks like it was an attempted burglary. we got a call around 1:52 this morning about a u-haul that crash into the building. an employee that was preparing his cook for the day came and found the u-haul. arrived at work and found the u- haul crashed in the building. called us. we arrived and walked around the u-haul and found 30-40-year- old white male it appears laying to the rear of the u- haul who was deceased. >> what do we know in terms of the male body, the body that was found. does he have a relation to the college? was he an employee? was he one of the burglars? >> >> we are not sure. it doesn't seem to have a relationship to the college but we can't rule that out. he does appear to be part of the incident here. >> reporter: was anyone else

seen running from here at the time? i understand this may have been attempted burglary. are you looking at surveillance video? >> we are looking at surveillance video and what may have been involved with the college and surrounding businesses. we don't know very much about him. they will be here for quite some time. live chiropractic college west will be closed for the day. they will be investigating trying to figure out the identity of the body that was found earlier this morning just before 2:00. after her daughter was hit and killed last weekend. stephanie bonner says it's her second child she has lost to violence. one of her sons was killed in

south bay commute really hasn't started yet. it looks good on 85 and 280 and 101. let's go to steve in the weather center. happy friday, sal. it will be another warm friday. national weather service in elk grove, nevada just tweeted out temperatures today could be the warmest ever recorded in february. they are looking for a high of 53-degrees. it will still be warm in tahoe. a beautiful sunshine. we have about 50 shades of orange there. yeah. temperatures starting off cool for some. warm for others. 10-12 degrees above average. it will be a warm weekend. downtown oakland 79. the old record was 70 set in

2006. salinas 82 is set a record. these are the records on thursday. reno 67 and south lake tahoe 61. another record seventh record this month. they'll probably set another one today and maybe tomorrow. san jose these are the records to beat today. san jose 76. it will be close east san jose. i went 74 downtown. mountain view 73. sfo71. i think that is a good bet. those are the likely candidates. oakland today will go 74 after yesterday's 70. that will not be a record. but there is still an offshore breeze. it will be close again. expect for a few high clouds everything is showing signs of high pressure and there is very warm temps aloft. you get up around 1500 and 2,000 feet and it's in the 50s and 60s. 40s for some, 50s for others. sfo is 57 degrees. 40s and 50s for others.
