yesterday if you were out and about, probably know it is warm. record-setting warm, 4 days in a row, downtown oakland, 78, 77, sfo at 75 was a record, and 75, 76, in 1930. very close, high pressure continues to dominate our weather there is no sign of any change here really just subtle changes, maybe by the weekend a little cool down system kind of digs in from nevada, that's about 5, 6 days away. and low 50s though, antioch, brent wood, and higher clouds come up and over the top of the ridge. and still mild to warm inland there is a puff of an east wind or a north wind which translates into inland, 70s on most of the temps again.
6:02 am
here is what's maybe a quiet monday. >> we have had crashes steve, it is so light out there even when we do have crashes it doesn't cause big delays. we're going to start off with a look at bay bridge toll plaza, and if you're going to san francisco today, remember the parking meters are going to be enforced and you should you know you should read all the signs, don't be surprised and leave your car somewhere where you shouldn't. the traffic is going to be a little bit not moving along pretty well i'm still trained a little slow on 237, it is kind of weired when it doesn't happen. it is good for you when you're driving into the valley, it does look good. eastbound 580 at park, a new crash happening eastbound 580 a couple vehicles on the shoulder, not expecting slow traffic be aware it is there, might have to run a traffic break to slow cars passing the

fight, it is a big building with a lot of combustible materials inside including stoves, tables and chairs. >> this building has high ceilings, and accusic tiles making the job harder, with hoses knock the fire down meanwhile with a truck crew on the roof they are cutting holes and letting out all the smoke and fire gases. >> there is extensive smoke fire and water damage throughout the building, the fire burned a large part of the cafeteria area and firefighters estimate there is well over half a million dollars in damage out here, there is no school today because of the holiday but firefighters do tell us this cafeteria is definitely unusable, pam. >> oh boy, that's going to be a problem for awhile there. 6:04. san jose firefighters investigating a fire that roared through a building that

6:07 am
this report, according to experts they say this is most likely the sophisticated cyber attack this world has ever seen. a cyber security firm say the hackers would send what looked like an innocent e-mail to a bank employee would look like it was sent by somebody within the bank but unknowingly the person who opens the e-mail whatever is in there would release malware. it can record key strokes and send back to hackers camera still shots or video of key bank employees of how they make transfers. according to the time's article the hackers would limit their theft at $10 million before moving onto another bank and because of nondisclosure agreements, the banks were not named. the report comes on the heals of president obama's visit to stanford university talking about cyber security, he signed an order meant to have better collaboration between private companies on cyber threats.
6:08 am
the president says internet security remains a priority. >> when they share their personal information with companies they should know it is going to be protected. >> when government and industries share information about cyber threats, we have to do so in a way that safeguards personal information. >> now experts say the attacks are unusual because they target banks themselves and not individual customers. also according to the report, most of the targets are banks in russia, the u.s., germany, china, and ukraine. very sophisticated indeed. brian flores in the newsroom thank you. 6:08. later today in san francisco, a push to legalize recreation gnat use of marijuana in california, it will continue with the international cannabis business conference at the regency. they want to make it legal to buy and use it legally. they have until august to

6:14 am
>> i am just laugh at it, looking at the positive side of it, i believe the weather that's not going to happen for another 50 years. the governor of ma telling everybody just stay inside, be safe from the bitter cold. and it is not over yet. another snowstorm heading across the midwest, it may reach the northeast by tomorrow night. >> that heavy joe causing all kinds of problems this is right inside a house in quincy massachusetts, the roof collapsed because of the weight of the snow. fortunately no one was hurt. already today there are dozens of flights being canceled or delayed and blamed on the bad weather back east. most of the problems are at airports in boston, new york and washington d.c. there are no major delays reported at bay area airport. and a flight landed safely,
6:15 am
and four flight attendants and a girl needed treatment. parts of hawaii were under a high wind advisory creating problems but not just in the air but also on the ground. in honolulu, strong winds ripped the roof off of 70 homes, many say they have never seen damage like this before, the lie winds also took down trees, thousands of people lost power. an unwanted valentines day surprise. the flight delayed after a passenger reported being stung by a stopon. they refused additional medical treatment, alaska airlines says the flight originated from mexico, the oregon state university men's basketball team was on that flight. that picture was taken by one

6:17 am
surprised getting a ticket. let's take a look at westbound 92. eastbound 580 near park, that crash has been removed, they took it off the freeway which is good, it would be in the counter commute direction for most people, 880 oakland traffic looking good at this time. 6:17. we have clear skies out there, patchy, coastal fog, even though water temps are very warm, upper 50s, by the way, for a few hours, a few hours yesterday, hit 61.3 degrees warmest february temperatures ever at that location. continued mild to warm, coast fog returns, no rain in site just a little bit of a cool down. this is the wrong graphic i apologize, it is the next one i
6:18 am
wanted to put in there. >> anyway, we had some record highs yesterday and it is possible again today. oakland forecast my forecast 74 the record is 73 in 2007, sfo and oakland downtown i think had the best opportunities to set records, oakland was 80 degrees, our record high, occasionally a few high clouds to talk about high pressure staying i think i'll dominate the entire west coast, that's what it's doing as it builds brutally cold air for most of the country, giving us very warm conditions, warm temps aloft, the lows getting into the 40s, 50s on the temps summertime pattern we'd be blazing hot. 50s for some, 40s for others, wood side, 42, belmont says 52. , 19, 40 in redding, the entire record highs, 60s down to southern california, all weather is as you can see where
6:19 am
it is, and snow continuing, parts through the great lakes, 15 below, and northwest wind howling along, here comes the next system, rain in the deep south mixed presip going right through, tennessee and in the north all snow and guess where it is heading. that pattern may continue for another seven to 10 days, a dry pattern for us, high pressure will backup ever so slightly just that fog coming back not much of a west wind, i don't think it makes much of an impact unless by the coast. clear skies, mild to warm, maybe a few high clouds no big deal. a little cooler by the beaches and 70s for temps, clear lake, 75, and kent field, 71. and 71, 70 for antioch. santa cruz, 73, san jose, 73,

street, and barely missed a car. >> well i was just standing working, looking out on the street, this massive tree fell down, knocked down the lines. it is good nobody was hurt. the police closed down while the crews removed that tree, took about two hours to fix the power lines and restored the service, still no word on what caused that tree to topple over. wow. that is lucky, though. >> 6:47 is the time, sal, how is traffic today? i know it feels a little light. >> yeah, a lot of people have the day off, right now we're looking at a pretty decent commute, we'll start off in the east bay, take a look at highway 4y you can see highway 4 comes up through the concord area, no problems at the bay bridge toll plaza, we don't

the coast. yet the water temps are almost 60 degrees . in fact the monterey buoy for a few hours hit 61 degrees, that is a february warmth, and 59, and 58, unbelievable. 72, crescent city yesterday, that was a record, fso was a record, redding airport tied, oakland 80, and those are all records, oakland has a shot today to do that as far as record and so does sfo. the record is 73, 2007, i'm going 74 today, i'm going, i apologize to all the english teachers. i'm going, can we start this over? we do have a mostly clear skies, patchy fog in the valley. just as quiet as can be the fog has come back to parts of the coast very shallow.
