of fog. you said it was a nightmare. >> it was soupy. that's what i was thinking. i was thinking of rosemary driving in white knuckled and worried because it was so thick. >> yeah. for most of us we got rid of the low cloud deck but like you said now we have patchy dense fog. i think we will have it through midmorning. a live look into san rafael. it's really over parts of the north bay as well as the east bay where the fog is. it's thick let's take a look at where visibility is low for some. in and around santa rosa as well as stretching in to napa. napa has improved over the last couple of minutes but the darker gray indicating visibility down to a quarter mile. from santa rosa in -- you will find some of this. fairfield and concord now reporting visibilities about four miles over parts of oakland and san francisco doing okay. mountain view into san jose the visibility is good as well. because of the low clouds being absent this morning we are off

to a colder start. take a look at some of these numbers. we have 44napa. 48 oakland. 50 in haywood. mid40s outside your door san jose and redwood city in at 44. as we get into the second half we will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny. going through the afternoon. we have all the cloud cover in the central valley for us along the coastline. i think partly cloudy today. it doesn't clear all together but the rest of us will be under sunshine and the temperatures will be nice and mild. i will bring you the afternoon highs and bring you the possibility of sierra snow showers coming to the area by the second half of the weekend. >> all right. we will see you soon. there is a possible agreement in the nine month long labor dispute that's crippled port operations up and down the west coast. dock workers must still ratify the deal but the port is expected to resume normal operations as soon as today with dock workers starting work with saturday evening shifts. dock workers and the shipping

companies refusing to reveal specifics of the deal but we do know that it's a five-year deal. >> it's a good agreement. it'll work for both sides. will help workers and communities and help customers get the containers they have been waiting for. >> the obama administration and labor secretary are getting some credit for helping to hammer out the deal. we spoke with the secretary by phone while he acknowledges it'll take months before the backlog of cargo is cleared he is very optimistic about moving forward from this dispute. >> the task ahead begins which is -- getting the backlog resolved and getting confidence restored and i'm confident that will happen. >> the main sticking point between the two sides how to resolve worker, employer disputes. the current system consists of four regional on arbitrators. it'll be replaced with four teams of three people each.

arbitrators won't have lifetime terms of the the union and shipper also have a system for objecting to or removing on traitors they deem unfit. arbitrators. mike honda will hold a panel on the president's executive actions on immigration. he will be joined by immigration advocates to discuss how it'll affect undocumented immigrants. the discussion starts at 11:30 at mission valley regional on stevenson boulevard. >> new this morning the sheriff's office is searching for whoever is responsible for a shooting that left a person dead and another hurt. it all happened in bay point about 10:00 last night. deputies say they found two people who had been shot. one victim died at the scene. the other was taken to a nearby hospital. police haven't released any other details about that victim's condition or their search for the gunman. haywood police are searching for a man suspected of trying to kidnap a 14-year-old.

that happened yesterday. just after 3:00 in the afternoon on ebony way. the girl was walking home alone from school when the man tried to pull her into his car. she fought back and ran to a nearby neighbor's house. the suspect is a latino man in his 20s about 5'9'', 160-pound was brown short wavy hair. he was last seen driving a white sekan. family and friend wills remember a man shot and killed by san jose police state police officers. antonio lopez guzman was killed last year. campus police say he ignored command from two officers to put down a saw. officers used a taser with no effect before shooting him when he charged them with the saw. today's gathers will be held at the park in san jose at two. >> a big change is set for this weekend in the 415 area code. starting today people with the numbers 415 will have to dial

can see all the progress that has been made over the last couple of weeks transforming into a hockey rink. >> tonight the sharks will take on the los angeles kings as part of the national hockey league stadium series. >> yep. this is the first nhl outdoor game in north eastern california. there was one at dodge erstad jump last year the sharks and kings tested the rink yesterday. that surface is holding up well. >> the game is a sell out with 70,000 tickets sold. fans say it'll be exciting to watch the home of the 49ers turn into a hockey wonderland. >> this is huge. this is northern california hockey being celebrated at its highest level. we have never had an outdoor game. i mean the sun is shining. it's beautiful. the weather is nice and they are going to have ice. >> it's pretty cool. check it out. the players when they were asked about skating outside said it reminds them of when they were children if they grew up in the cold weather cities

and played on the frozen ponds a little bit of remembering there. >> it's a unique experience for shark fans and get the chance to enjoy a more football tradition and that's tailgating outside levi stadium. here is interesting facts about hockey. it took 20,000-gallons of water to create a two inch ice surface. >> and crews used three thousand gallons of coolant. they have to freeze the rink to 22-degrees. >> temperature at game time is going to be about 57 degrees. the nhl said that is no problem. it was in the mid60s at last year's game. >> and if you are heading down there there will be a lot of food. concession planners say they expect to sell 7500 orders of garlic fries, 13,000 hot dogs. >> i know the sharks want to win because the kings beat them

in the playoffs. they were up three and then the kings came back and won it all. battling for the playoffs this time around as well. instead of kim k the san sharks are starring in their own reality tv show. >> the documentary film crew has been shadowing them for the past month. that is going to give viewers a behind the scenes look at the team leading up to tonight's game. >> a two camera ten person crew has been following the sharks recording their every move. production folks say edited down 200 hours of footage. >> you forget about them and that's when the stuff comes out. it explains a lot of the reality tv show stuff. >> you know about the characters we have in here but to see what guys really do on a day to day basis. >> the camera crews shoot games inside the locker room, on the practice ice and those

of fine arts. this structure, beautiful morning here. no fog. this was built a hundred years ago for the 1915 world fair. that happened here in san francisco. here to tell us more is -- the accountive director of historic society. we think of the world fair and it's nothing like it was 100 years ago. this was a major event. what was it like being here? >> i imagine with 250,000 people from all over the world opening at the fair this day and to think of san francisco in 1906, nearly devastated by the earthquake and then the fire. this was it's rebirth. this was -- we are back. come see us. world war i broke out months before and everybody was so concerned that nobody would come to the world's fair but over the course of that year and until december of 1915, 19 million people came. >> reporter: and we -- we

should show this video. that black and white video of the construction of the world's fair. it was a massive project. >> it was. the classic make no small plans. they laid out a 65300-acre site. so, a tower of jewels that was 43 stories high and the tallest one was about 11 stories. >> reporter: palace after palace. all of that is gone except the palace of fine arts and this was the smallest one. >> this was the smallest. they wanted you to come from all of the bustle and industry and arts and -- forward making motor cars to the serene beautiful place where you would see some of the finest art. >> thank you very much.

123450 a beautiful start to the day. unfortunately no rain in the forecast for the bay area. i amtraking the possibility of sierra snow showers. ly have that and your local forecast coming up. >> thank you. environmental groups expressing concerns over a new plan to destroy parts of the old bay bridge. caltrans is planning to use as many as six hundred small explosions to set off an under water implosion to destroy pier3. the concrete shows no sign of toxicity and that's a solution that could save about $100 million without harming marine

life. if approved caltrans hopes to blow up the pier in november and possibly remove other piers as well. snow amounts more than 400 will team up today to take part in a move vent to beat rare cancer. it's an indoor team cycling relay that started in 2007. in today's relay will be at the exuinox gym on pine street from eight this morning to five tonight. every dollar raised will go to research on rare cancers at memorial, sloan cancer center. more than 20,000 across the country are expected to take part in the event. >> next week hundreds of thousands of people will take part in an online fitness competition and the search for whoever will earn the title of the world's fittest man and woman. it's called the cross fit open and started here in the bay area. >> flex it hard. go, go, go. >> reporter: a cross fitter in

2008 when nobody really knew what cross fit was. >> my kids opened up cross fit santa cruz. one of the first gyms and i did it to support them. i had no idea it would grow and people would do it all over the world. >> reporter: next week she will join 200,000 people from around the world for the cross fit open. >> i didn't want to dot. i hatet. it's really hard. then i decided i had to. >> reporter: cross fit is functional fitness and consists of varied movements at high intensity. it started in santa cruz. >> we were part of the first. >> reporter: it has grown faster than anyone expected. more than 11,000 are now spread out across the world. >> and australia, africa, south america, a lot of growth numbers. really there is no end in sight. >> reporter: the open brings them all together. it's an online fitness competition. >> five workouts over the course of five weeks . >> reporter: and while most are cross fitters you don't have to

kurt bush has been suspensed after a court said he committed domestic violence against his former girlfriend. she said he grabbed her throat and slammed her into a wall. he is not facing criminal charges. nascar said he can appeal the suspension and his attorney plans to do just that. the racing season kicks off tomorrow with the daytona 500. tomorrow's race marks the final season for jeff gordon. he will start in the pole position. the four time champ won the pole last sunday. he will now try to open his 23 23rd season with his fourth victory -- victory at daytona. last month he announced this would be his final season as a full time driver. leftover rice start alongside his teammate in that front row. month we will end early tomorrow to bring you the 500,

the search is on for the driver of a deadly hit and run in oakland. what witnesses say they saw. welcome back to mornings on 2. >> good morning. we get to that stop story in just a minute. first a check on your weather and depending on where you are it's a morning where you look at some things and are like that's not what it looked like for me. >> you are right. some of us with thick fog. some of us with sun and some with a mix of sun and clouds. we will have that fog through

about midmorning. particularly in the valleys. let's look at the bay bridge and into san francisco. we have just a patch of low clouds and we have plenty of sun on the way. if you are getting outside this morning it's a cooler start. we will start with the visibility though because in and around santa rosa, along highway 101, in through -- highway 116. if you are crossing over, visibility is a tough one. you may have a little bit of trouble. outo side of that we see improvement here in and around concord was a little thicker. visibility at about four miamis around the bay and this to the south bay. not so much. we are looking good with partly cloudy to mostly sunny. numbers cool it morning. 41 degrees. 48 in oakland. napa at 44. 44 santa rosa. with better clearing temperatures allowed to cool off in the afternoon. i should say in the overnight hours as we get in to the afternoon which i want to show you the numbers will be back

up. 69 for livermore. 69 oakland. upper 60's redwood city. we will be party cloudy. 62 pacifica. 67 in areas around napa. we will get into a cooling trend as early as tomorrow. for some it'll be breezy and i'm tracking snow for the searchy.ly show you that coming up. >> oakland police are looking for a hit and run driver who killed a man and sent another person to the hospital. it happened just after 3:30 yesterday afternoon at 32nd street. police say a tan buick hit two men and then the driver got out and ran away. the family of the man who died said he was a 39-year-old father of two. he was walking on the road after leaving a fundraising event at a park. >> all i sue -- i heard the impact and then just noticed that -- i seen this object that i knew was a guy flipping in the air. >> witnesses say the car was driving down at a high rate of speed. in san francisco a mother

and child riding a bike were hit by a car and injured. it happened at 3:40 yesterday afternoon. investigators say it appeared that the driver ran a red light and then hit the bike. the mother had a broken leg. the child suffered bumps and bruises. >> police released new details about two men accused of killing a security guard. they gave us these pictures of the 22-year-old and 20-year-old richard cruz. both men were booked in to the jail on murder charges. the two are accused of shooting and killing security guard last saturday night. he had witnessed a robbery from the club where he worked. he rushed over to help and that's when he was shot. he was the father of two. people who lost their businesses in that big mission district fire last month are getting a helping hand from others in the community. last month's fire damaged this building on the corner of

mission and 22nd street. it was home to three dozen small bises and residents. last night a bank held an event for those affected by that fire. people were able to find out more about loans and the mission fire business fund. >> they were the fabric of the community. they had employees, that have been displaced. we want to make sure they can return. >> the nonprofit group mission economic development agency is in charge. they are hoping to raise money to help them. >> refinery problems appear to be raising gas prices in california compared to a week ago prices for a gallon of region lead reasonable doubt up about ten cents. the average price is $2.90. in oakland it's $2.80. three days ago there was an explosion at a exxom refinery in torance. four people were hurt and the strike at in martinez just adds

to the problem. it stopped production all together. the two account for 16% of the gas in california. covered california has extended the deadline for it's who need to buy health insurance. the deadline for enrollment is april 30th. the extension is to help people who weren't aware of the tax penalty for not having insurance. the extense doesn't exempt people from paying the penalty on their 2014 taxes. it just helps them avoid bigger penalties next year. it's a tug of war for the oakland raiders. city leaders say they are determined to keep the team in the bay area. city leaders in carson say they are excited to be the next home for the raiders. yesterday at a news conference in carson officials revealed their plan for a $1.7 billion privately funded stadium for the raiders and the chargers. i asked the mayor how serious of a challenge it is from the

folks in carson. this news conference today. do you think it's a gimmick? >> i remain very focused on my priority and the raiders priority and that is to keep this team in oakland. >> the mayor said she will not spend any city money to build a stadium for the raiders but does say public money is available for improvement that could support a new stadium. the executive director of said he has a meeting scheduled with the raiders on tuesday. >> san francisco's giants manager is expected to miss a day or two of spring training while he rests a heart procedure. he was release from the hospital yesterday after two stints were inserted. team doctors had found a problem with his heart during a physical. his son is a pitcher who signed with the big league squad. >> they want to keep him out

beautiful new spring training home. the 1915 world fair is celebrating it's 100th birthday. more than 200,000 came out for the festival a hundred years ago. we have more on what we can expect after this year's celebration. >> reporter: no fog. we are in front of the palace of fine arts. the world's fair was a massive undertaking. they called it a 600 square foot worldwide web. let's show you this hundred year old video they have pulled for this event. you can imagine palace after palace being built on the marina district showcasing the technology. the first telephone call was made during the fair. they ran the lines across the country specifically for the world's fair here. they were also showcasing the world's most valuable art and

music. the palace of fine arts housed that art work. ten thousand pieces of art from around the world and it's the only building from that world's fair that still stands today. along with the art, music and part of that is the din -- ukele. it was introduced during the world's fair. to remember that we have mark. you will play it and you are not going to be alone. >> no. we are expecting at least 600, probably a thousand fans, players, singers, to join us here to celebrate what was really launched a hundred years ago. >> how do you find that many players and how do you kind of play in? >> we can thank the internet today. there are so many clubs that you may not know about on the surface but they are there. >> reporter: it's a very popular instrument. about a hundred years ago it was under the radar.

polar plunge today. that event kicks off with a 5k run at 8:30 and the race is followed by this. where are they going? that's good. they are going in to the icy waters of the san francisco bay. that is at aquatic park. some braver than others going in deeper. the police department is hosting that event. all funds raised will go to the special olympics athletes in northern california and nevada. >> the opportunity to do this, to raise money for those little less fortunate and -- to be honest with you in many ways more courageous than even cops is the least we can do. >> although not required organizers are recommending that people come like those folks dressed up in their favorite costumes and they say the craze yeser the better. >> english inges will rev and crowds will roar in oakland for this year's monster jam. the event kicks off at 7:00

only few surviving structures of that 1915 world fair. ktvu fox two is out there for us this morning. good morning and welcome back . >> good morning. someone else is outside and that's rosemary. good morning to you. >> reporter: yeah. we have a mix of weather going on this morning. outside our doors everybody five minutes ago the fog rolled in and there is a wall of fog. can't see san francisco from this vantage point. you get in around the bay. some of us with mostly sunny skies and you get in to the valley. we have thick fog. as we get in to the afternoon we will all see partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies and another warm up for today with above average temperatures. let's take a look at some of the numbers outside the door. if you woke up with a clearer skies at least the clearing in the overnight hours, chances are your temperatures a lot colder than yesterday morning.

and then ran to a nearby house for help. the suspect is a latino man in his 20s . brown short wavy hair. he was seen driving a white sedan. family and friends will gather to remember a man who was shot and killed by san jose state police officers. the 38-year-old antonio lopez guzman was killed february 2 sergeant of last year. police say he ignored commons to put down a dry wall saw. they used a taser with no effect before shooting him when he charged them with the saw. today's gathering will be held at raymond vernal park at two. >> there is a big change set for this weekend in the 415 area code. starting today people who start with the 415 area code will have to dial one and then 415 to make the calls. 415 numbers have been running

the pier in november and remove others as well. more than 400 people will team up in san francisco today to take part in a national movement to beat rare cancer. the event is called cycle for survivallal. it's an indoor relay that started in 2007. today's relay will be at the exuinox gym from eight this morning. that mean itself started about 15 minutes ago to five tonight. every dollar raised will go to research on rare cancers at memorial sloan.. >> hundreds of thousands -- known as leftover rice cross fit. it started in 2008. the first affiliates, there are more than 11,000. cross fit is defined as functional fitness and consists of varied movements at high intensity.
