san francisco bay. ktvu's minimum wage mark tamayo and ktvu's noelle walker where an outing in a canoe ended unexpectedly for six people today. >> reporter: those six people are okay today. they were lucky a boat happened to see them and called the coast guard for help. they train for cap sizing but in this wind they couldn't get back on course. >> reporter: the san francisco bay is gone for being windy. so challenging today there was a small craft advisory. >> i think we missed that. [ laughter ] >> reporter: the water that beckons the crew of the canoe ended up swapping their canoe and that ended their day on the bay. with a coast guard rescue.

take a look at the winds, 22 miles per hour. stronger gusts towards richmond, 28 miles per hour. embarcadero 23 miles per hour. winds out of the northeast. that is the change we were expecting today. the land observations, stronger winds towards fairfield, 37 miles per hour. a defined wind direction. hayward 21 miles per hour. gusting to 21 and san jose not as strong. coming up, what is causing the winds and when the temperatures come bag up in the five-day forecast. thousands of pg&e customers suffered a power outage because of fallen tree branches. they struck power lines around noon today. it effected 3600 customers. a crew cleared the branches and

power was restored. motel fire was due to misuse of flammable materials. it broke out around 7:30 p.m. last night. firefighters rescued a man and a woman. those people suffered second and third degree burns burns and a third woman suffered minor burns. they are trying to determine exactly how it started. kajexpected at -- damage is expected at $50,000. fire in san francisco yesterday caused $1.4 million in damage. one witness captured video of the fire that broke out around 4:00 p.m. yesterdayen for. he said it seemed like -- yesterday. he said it seemed like the roof exploded. the cause of the fire is still being investigated.

west coast ports are back in full operations except the port of oakland. work resumed saturday night after a contract dispute but this morning operations were halted when a dispute broke out over break times. the pacific maritime association said an area arbitrator ruled longshoremen conducted illegal work stoppages and that ulted in poor operations shut down -- results in poor operations shut down. a battle in walnut creek. a developing wants to build condo complexes but people refuse leave. ktvu's cristina rendon is following the story and today is the deadline that they have to move out. >> that is right.

yesterday morning. they identified the driver today as 38 years old, mark perry. he was driving east when he lost control of his car. the car veered off the road and flipped over and lapped in a vineyard --landed in a vineyard. an agreement to pay out $20 million over a lawsuit. the state paying $20 million to to investors. the vestment group filed the lawsuit. a san francisco judge was considering a verdict after conducting a trial before they dime a settlement. gas prices are up 20 cents a gallon. the national average is now
