to schools. back to you. >> john sasaki reporting live tonight. thank you. an accused child molester are hiv accepted a plea deal. the 26-year-old plead guilty to 11 felony counts of sex crimes against under aged boys today. he also pleaded guilty to having unprotected sex knowing he was hiv positive. in exchange he will get a 29 year prison sentence. investigators say he solicited his victims on the internet. sentencing is may 15. three years of searches for sierra lamar are now coming to an end. she disappeared on march 16, 2012. the sierra lamar search center has been holding saturday searches in the then but her father -- since then but her father said they exhausted all searches. after march 14 they will only

search if they get specific tips. the suspect antolin garcia- torres is heading to trial for her murder even though her body has never been found. police arrested two women suspected of car thefts. police believe they are connected with the theft of two dozen cars. investigators say the women were seen two days in a row at a jack in the box parking lot moving property from one car to another. one of the cars had been reported stolen. police say they tracked them to their home where they found evidence connecting them to 25 stolen vehicles. new developments now in a horrible crash in santa cruz county. authorities say the four young people who were killed were not wearing their seatbelts and alcohol was a factor in the crash. the chp says the person behind

it wheel was seen driving erratically. this happened at 8:00 p.m. last night. investigators say the car was on freedom boulevard when it crashed into traffic and collided head on with a truck. ktvu's azenith smith now with more. >> right here of the truck. >> reporter: a witness said it is hard to grasp what she witnessed saturday night. a crash so severe it claimed the lives of four young people. the driver was 22 years old. the passengers 18 years old, 19 years old and a 16-year-old girl. >> impact was -- huge. i can't describe it. it was a very hard hit for both vehicles. >> reporter: chp says around weight p.m. last night a black car -- 8:00

p.m. last night a black car crossed into traffic and crashed head on into a truck. three people in the front of the car were killed. a 4th person died at the hospital. the others suffered major injuries. >> there was evidence alcohol was being consumed. broken bottles. opened bottles. glass. >> reporter: chp says none of the people in the car were wearing seatbelts. two passengers were on people's laps. loved ones placed flowers and a cross remembering those who died. >> i saw him a while back and he told me if i wanted to spend the night because we used to have sleep overs. >> he told me friday, see you. see you next week. >> she can't imagine what the

parents are going through. >> hug and kiss your kids avenue day. tell them you love them. >> the youngest killed was 16 years old. she was a junior. grief counselors were at school and will be at school for the rest of the week. azenith smith, ktvu fox 2 news. the coach of a teenager who was fatally shot over the weekend says he knows what the killer said immediately before opening fire. the 14-year-old died saturday as he walked. he was spending the night at the house of his coach. they happen on the way to the store at the time of the shooting. >> walking. pulled up. said do you know tim. they said we don't know tim. he started shooting.

>> the gunman was driving a white truck with braids and a blue beanie. police are reviewing surveillance video from the area. dozens of people rallied in san francisco tonight to protest a construction project. ktvu's david stevenson is live, why protesters rather see their money spent in other ways. >> reporter: plans are in the work to build a new jail. the one atop the hall of justice is considered out dated but opponents say the money could be better spent elsewhere. protesters said with a surplus of beds inmates could be shifted to other jails and the money could be spent on other programs. the building is 57 years old.

unsafe. the jail has inadequate medical facilities and no real classroom or rehabilitation facilities. advocates said they hope to secure a grant to build a new jail but opponents are rallying to urge the board of supervisors to not apply for the grant and hope to make that point tonight. >> for those fighting against poverty, education, healthcare and housing, we see that money would be better invested in those things. >> opponents say inmates should be freed with an inicist on finding them -- e.icist on finding gem -- e. cyst on finding them jobs and homes. 65% of the inmates are no bail

status. 90% of the people in jail considered felons as well. the meeting just started. the people headed over there to make sure their point is heard tonight. >> more on that on the 10:00 p.m. news. david stevenson, thank you. there is word tonight that leaks on the eastern span of the bay bridge came about because caltrans decided to skip installing part of a drainage system. the fix will be paid for by tolls rather than by the contractor. the price tag so far, a million and a half dollars. the contractors asked caltrans if they could simplify the drainage. caltrains agreed but didn't make sure other parts were properly sealed. the leaks are causing concerns about corrosion that could weaken the bridge. several lawmakers are pushing a bill that would give

money back to taxpayers. specifically taxes that were collected and later considered illegal. right now residents have to go through an appeal's process to get their money back. this would return the money automatically. >> it is just crazy thinking. an easy fix. we ought to say when the state collects a tax that is illegal or unconstitutional the court decides that -- and the court decides that the people out to get their money back. . >> one tax that is being challenged is fire prevention fees. 800,000 homeowners have to pay that fee which starts at $152. muni at the center of two controversial campaigns. >> we apologize for people who are offended. >> the ads now posted and why some say they go too far.

-- videos of a shooting yesterday when officers shot and killed a homeless man. one video shows the victim going for the gun of the officer and the officer yells he has my gun. the man hasn't been identified. officers were responding to reports of a burglary when the situation escalated. police are conducting their own investigation. other investigations are also underway. the day before he is to address congress israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu spoke to a group. he has disagreement with the obama administration. today he played down the differences. >> despite occasional disagreements the friendship grew stronger and stronger. decade after decade. [ indiscernible ] >> reporter: other buses will carry a different message. a pro israeli organization intends to run counter ads, featuring this sign. referring to hamas. >> if they want to put transit ads out we are not going to let them have that misinformation reach the public without responding to the very same people who would see the misleading ads. >> reporter: while the battle is playing out on public transportation many people don't notice what is on the buses. >> there is so much marketing and content everywhere that a bus ad i may not notice. >> reporter: in the past ads have been the target of graffiti. >> we apologize by people offended by the ads but we are required to run them. >> reporter: they will run till the end of the month.

in san francisco, rob roth, ktvu fox 2 news. california law makers are consideration a package of bills to regulate drones. one law would ban drones from flying over public schools. authors say their aim is to prevent someone to harass or stock students in california and -- stalk students in california and rights need to be balanced with possibilities. >> got to de-- responsibilities. >> got to define the rules and how they can be used and the role of government and the entities that are trying to protect us. >> some drone makers say they favor licensing private and commercial drone pilots much the same as aircraft pilots. now to the weather here in the bay area. we saw scattered showers throughout the day. here is what it looked like in walnut creek this afternoon. mostly clear right now. but bill says we are seeing a

[ talking at the same time ] >> i got a few sprinkles over the weekend -- >> i didn't say any. >> lit -- i didn't see any. >> little. squaw valley 2-1/2 feet of snow. that is good news. you got snow pack working. that helps out. as far as local reservoirs didn't move the needle much at all. the system is working its way south. not unusual but you see these this time of year. just coming down the coast. it is cool. got more moisture than you expect. what we are seeing are showers continuing throughout the area.

mainly down here, los angeles area. santa barbara. closer to here you can see we have a few showers linkerring in the area. wind -- lingering in the area. winding down. that is not slowing down your commute. shouldn't be. livermore with light showers. some of that -- probably wipers. san francisco, forecast for tomorrow, 62 degrees for a high. going to warm up tomorrow. more sunshine. might be patchy valley fog. santa clara valley, san jose, 67 degrees for a high. that is a significant warm up. by the ends of the week, middle end of the week -- end of the week, middle wend of the week. temperatures -- end of the weekend, temperatures back into the low 70s. with this pattern in place it is not going to rain. for this 5 day period. we are going to see the flowers, the blooms going off out there. we noticed it.

with temperatures like these tomorrow, and our forecast, if you are a hay fever sufferer, start taking the meds before you go to bed. that is when the pollens are the worse. if you are a sufferer, especially around the bay, santa clara, fremont, the areas around the bay are seeing more blooms right now than inland valley. they lag a few weeks behind. the five-day forecast with your bay area weekend in view, talking about pollen counts, right, instead of rain and snow counts. hopefully things break loose next week. right now the week looks dry. similar to last week -- >> we will have hopefully a dry weekend for the chinese new year parade. strange times for the golfer who once seemed to be the automatic all time leader in major championship. on friday a golfer who last played in 2011 told a radio station in michigan tiger woods had been suspended for a month for use of an unnamed performance enhancing drugs. they denied a suspension. he now backed off his claim saying it was only his opinion. he issued an apology. nike and phil mickelson -- [ indiscernible ] >> rain over the weekend forced the conclusion of the honda classic in florida. the shot of the day. this birdie on the 18th 18th hole. that sent thim centile him -- sent him into a playoff. he took a double bogy.
