largest chinese new year parade outside of asia. it craws locals and tourists each year it will start in just about an hour. >> reporter: this is gorgeous hout here. people are taking their spots. one is on macys. that's the cheese cake factory. they want to see the parade. i want to take you here, we wanted to give you a look, because we can. we'll go here. this is not a place they will see. we'll take you up the stairs and this is the production truck. this he have been -- they have been out here preparing. i want to show you how this is done. let's walk you through there, we'll take a left. there we are. that's the control room they are getting ready now the time

is ticking down. scott. these are the people that make sure this goes off without a hitch. been down here for hours. we'll take you down and take you down to the street level. let me show you the street level. the parade it is unbelievable. a reason it is a tradition here in san francisco it is one of the only parades. when you talk about the dragons and lion dancers and floats you are talking about a spectacular sight here. we have been here when it is raining and the weather is great. no matter what, the crowds are showing up and they show up in droves. temperature we come -- if we come out here, it doesn't look that bad. they have not stopped traffic. you can see the cars making their way through but the crowds are starting to fill up.

here is a camera looking to san francisco. you can't see looking to the clear conditions. clear skies across the bay area unless you watch us from the islands, that's not likely. but there is patchy fog. we have lots of blue skies. look at the warm temperatures, 70s towards san francisco. the average is 62. and livermore in the 70s. look at santa rosa and morgan hill. they are approaching the upper 70s. flirting -- flirting with the 80s. high clouds to the north and patchy fog and off shore. that's a factor tomorrow but not for today. and mild, showing you the 60s and the 70s. the forecast for the parade in san francisco the route and no raindrops that's a concern but not for tonight. clear skies. 6:00 temperature will be 63 and

down into the upper 50s. we'll take a look at the fog and a factor. and if we have any rain clouds. a chance that we'll have that coming up. the president and first lady joined members of congress to mark the march in selma, alabama. it commemorates bloody sunday when the police attacked marchers. we have more from selma. >> speaking at the bridge in alabama, the president called on americans to carry forward the spirit of the civil rights movement. >> if we want to honor the courage of those who marched that day, all of us are called to possess their moral imagination. all of us will need to feel as they did the urgency. >> 50 years ago the protestors marched across the bridge from selma heading to the capital in montgomery to end voting

practices. before they could make it, they faced beatings and teargas from state and local police. students thanked those protestors for the strength. >> because of what you did, we have choices in education. >> thousands of people, including some who participated in that march are in selma to commemorate the day. >> we come to be renewed. we come to be inspired. >> and relatives of the original leaders say the movement is far from over and everyone has their own bridge. >> don't just get on the bridge, don't just cross the bridge but finish the work so that their lives will not have been given in vain. >> 100 members of congress and former president george w. bush are here to commemorate the

event of 50 years ago. >> activists marked the anniversary with a march on the golden gate bridge. some say the injustices faced 5 years ago are still happening today. contra costa authorities are looking for witnesses to a boat accident that killed a man. deputies recovered the boat today. yesterday evening at about 5:30, a services unit responded to a call of a person in the water. he was found near the discovery bay main channel. they are trying to determine how he ended up away from his boat. the victim was 50-year-old jonathan bloom of discovery bay. he was taken to a local medical center where he died. stretches released of a man who tried to pull a girl into his car when she walked home from school.

it was around 4 p.m. she fought back and ran to a house for help. the suspect is a white man in his 20s. 5'7" with a tan complexion. a scruffy beard. he weigh 1:40 pounds. he was driving a newer model sedan with a light blue dealer plate on the back. and the incident is another kidnapping. that's when a girl in that case was able to escape. a person is dead. another injured in a shooting in the south bay. there were reports of shots fired at this morning on oak street in san jose. they found two adult victims, each shot once. both were rushed to the hospital where one was pronounced dead. the second victim will survive. no word on suspects or motive. a person with a case of measles may have exposed people

at two berkeley libraries. officials say the person visited the central branch on february 27th and the west branch library that day and the next day on the 28th. the person diagnosed and it is not confirmed but the people who visited the libraries should monitor for symptoms until march 21st. five people are in jail after a drug bust at a suspected narcotics operation in santa rosa. they were conducting surveillance on a house. inside the home they found a pound of meth that was packaged to be sent to hawaii. $15,000 worth of meth was seized from the suspects who ranged from 22 years old to 38. they were arrested for suspicious of meth for sale and conspiracy to sell meth. the weather was perfect for a game of flag football, that's what 40 kids did with help from some pros.

and justin tuck and spencer ware of the chiefs led the kids in drills before playing a game of flag football at sidney walton square in the city. they were from the boys and girls club of tenderloin clubhouse. >> they did a little question and answer, build some confidence and we care. >> and we have been helping kids who look up to athletes or stars, who ever it is. and we just want to relate to them. >> it was organized by be human. it is led by a police officer and his brother. it gets kids involved in sports to keep them off the streets. it teaches the youth from rival neighborhoods how to get along. marking history on the bridge, the march to commemorate an important point in the civil rights movement. this may seem like a sale

police are investigating a hit and run crash that killed a woman. it was on pine street near 8th street. the driver left the vehicle and escaped on foot. the victim was dead at the scene. they have not released a vehicle description for the victim's identity. the commemoration of the anniversary of bloody sunday in alabama stretched here to the bay area. and we are live in san francisco where marchers crossed aor bridge to make their call for justice. christian? >> reporter: protestors marched across bridge here with an eye on the past and one on the future. >> dozens of protestors whistled and marched across the bridge saying brown and black lives mattered and calling for an end to a pattern of police

brutality. >> 50 years of being beaten and for equal rights. >> reporter: many of those marching remember the march 50 years ago in selma where protestors were beaten by alabama state troopers. >> selma is in my heart. a lot of what happened before selma and after selma, that made a difference in my life. >> reporter: and she reefs racial injustice before the movement. >> i lived in ohio, i went to a school where blacks had to swim last in the pool. >> reporter: and it was an important moment in the seufld rights movement. >> by the time i graduated and went to university, they were giving scholarships away as a result of selma. >> reporter: marchers say the issues are confronting americans so they're still marching. >> we're at a cross roads. will things go back to selma and before selma to the

up in the five-day forecast. a tracker here and some patchy fog and regrouping near, looks like this one patch near the bay area. and north bay coast line. that is a factor near the shoreline first thing tomorrow morning. statewide the temperatures are, if you look, 72 in san diego. beautiful there. palm springs 85. and one of the cooler spots up to the north toward arcada. and the numbers here showing you some 60s and 70s again. and beautiful weather. and 72 in santa rosa and 70s for fairfield and walnut creek and livermore a few more to change the clock. you can see the sunrise and sunset times. look at that for the sunday. checking in. 10 after 7:00. we'll have patchy fog to talk

about. near the coast line first thing tomorrow. the live camera out to san francisco. and clear skies here a little bit of haze out there in the distance. the forecast will go like this. fair skies. patchy fog. mild to warm for sunday. the extended forecast, a weak system will approach w that we bump up -- with that we bump up the shower chances. still chilly up in the north bay. the readings in the 30s near 40. near the bay and the coast and the 40s to the 50s and fog could be bumping up and could be pushing back into the bay. high pressure and the winds are warming up the bay area as i mentioned the numbers a good 10 to 15 above the average. a bit in the wind direction. that could translate to cooling near the coast line and fog and

temperatures bring the neighborhoods down 3 to 6 degrees with the balmy readings. showing you this. and some fog regrouping. it is a sense stiff forecast and have a big impact. and the models hinting at the fog and a few patches around the bay. they pull back to the shoreline, we'll have the same forecast into monday but then on tuesday we're thickening up the clouds. we could be tracking a few hours. always a chance for now. temperatures tomorrow, lots of 70s out there. and napa and right around the rim of the bay you will find the readings in the 70s. and the winds we'll have more of the tip account sea breeze. and san francisco 68 in the upper 60s. you can't see the temperatures not a big change.

there. and last year we had. it is a stressful forecast a chance of light showers and not the case this year. nice out there. and san francisco is in the 60s. 66 degrees. and santa rosa. 70s out to fairfield and walnut creek and san jose. the headlines the camera showing up. you cannot see. and mild and warm. the extended forecast there is a chance of a shower showing up in a five-day forecast. lows first thing tomorrow morning. the coolest locations. fairfield at 40. and the areas in the mild side will be pacifica and san francisco and at least partly cloudy right near the shoreline. hayward forecast tomorrow, temperature time line starting out the day in the 40s on track to reach 70s for the afternoon hours. this was the case. a strong high pressure in command of the weather. winds warming up the bay area.

at change for tomorrow. and more of a breeze and we'll have patchy fog regrouping near the coast line. cooler temperatures for the beaches right around the bay and still well inland we're talking about the 70s. 72, 74. here is the chance i was talking about the clouds on the increase tuesday and there is a chance of a shower. this is on wednesday. but you get the item the best chance is up to the north of the bay area not here but close enough we have to bring in the chance of scattered showers. but the significant rain fall not showing up. >> the forecast highs. 70s but upper 60s and the beach and right around the rim of the bay. lower 70s. a few areas around 73. out to danville and san jose. santa cruz. 70s. san francisco and the 745 we had today will go 68 and as you can not see half moon bay in the 60s. fog for the morning hours.
