good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. we're following developing news out of san francisco where police are at the scene of a double homicide. two men were shot near crocker amazon playground. that's where we find david stevenson. good afternoon, david. >> reporter: good afternoon, tori. this took place in a parking lot adjacent to a soccer field. it's still a very active crime scene. a number of investigators behind me there. they are marking bullet casings

and examining a couple of cars in the lot. now, a closeup look shows a tan camaro in which the victims were sitting this morning. police say this began at about 9:36 a.m. when two male suspects walked up to the car and fired shots. the suspects fled. we're told park workers alerted police responding within a couple of minutes but were unable to find the suspects. both of the victims died despite efforts to revive them. investigators are looking into whether this was a targeted shooting and/or a case of gang violence. >> every crime and shooting our gang task force will always take a look at to see if it's gang related or not or gang motivated and why these people are targeted. >> reporter: one of the victim died at the scene. the other was transport and died at the hospital. these are the 1th and 13th

homicides this yeerl. police say this park doesn't usually experience this type of violence. they are looking for witnesses, people who may have been in the park this morning exercising or walking their dogs in hopes of getting a complete identification of the suspects. just spoke to the police spokesperson and they said so far there's no been no arrests. >> all right. thank you. the long-awaited apple watch has finally been revealed at an event in san francisco this morning. tim cook called it the most personal device his company has ever created. it obviously does a lot more than just tell time. users can make payments with apple pay, manage their music, read e-mails and take phone calls. the watch also has features that allow other watch wearers to send special messages to each other. it appears apple plans to compete with the fit-bit and

other fitness bands as well. >> the apple walk tracks your daily movement, how you are exercising and it reminds you if you have been sitting too long. >> the new watch will be available to order on april 10th. the price tag will range from $350 to $10,000 and more for top luxury models. caltrain says the person who was killed by a train this morning was a 15-year-old student from palo alto high school. the spokeswoman said the train hit i boy about 6:25 this morning on the tracks north of church hill avenue in palo alto. the student's name has not been released. but caltrain hayes says his death does appear to be a suicide. service has resumed in both directions. this is the eighth fatality on the caltrain tax so far this year. caltrain says it has crisis intervention teams on patrol who may have been able to

prevent some suicides in the past. they say schools also provide ongoing support. >> here in palo alto, there's a vo robust yowent outreach program, they are providing mental health counseling and support throughout the day and the year. >> you may recall caltrain in recent years made improvements in the palo alto area. that came after a series of four suicides by gun high school students in 2009. a man is in the hospital this noontime with a serious head injury after another man reportedly pushed him into the side of an oncoming muni train in san francisco. it happened around 9:00 last night at the civic center muni station platform. two men were fighting and one of the men pushed the other into a train. the man was able to pull himself off the tracks but was taken to the hospital with life- threatening injuries. police say the other man ran

away before they arrived on scene. it's unclear if the men knew each other. in santa rosa, a 6-year-old child is being treated for loyal injuries after being hit by a car. the child was walking with other family members in the crosswalk near petaluma hill road and breezyway around 9:30 last night. there was crime scene tape and evidence markers at the scene and a child tea shoe was underneath a car. police tell us the driver, a 67- year-old man, pulled over and is cooperating with the investigation. there is no word yet on what may have led to the collision. a jetblue plane headed to san francisco was forced to make an emergency landing mid- flight when a crew member got sick. this is a live picture of sfo where 159 passengers finally arrived before 4:00 this morning. the jetblue flight left j.f.k. airport but landed in sioux city, iowa because the first

the first officer had a medical issue. that person was taken to the hospital and has been released. another plane was sent to take the passengers on to san francisco. some san francisco residents are on edge after an escaped in345eu9 enters the third day. investigators say johnell carter escaped from a medical point minute. the accused child molester has ties to the city of campbell. it's where he was arrested a year ago. people who live in cam bem say knowing he's on the loose makes him nervous. >> makes you track noises and weird cars and like unfamiliar faces in the neighborhood. >> before he escaped, carter was in jail facing five counts of molestation. deputies says anyone who sees him should call 911. the arrest of two burglary suspects in san francisco led

police to the discovery of a 4- year-old child. investigators say the by was waiting in the suspect's parked car. around 2:15 this morning, officers responded to a report of a burglary at 27th and geora streets. one suspect tried to get away by running along rooftops but officers say he injured himself and was later found by a police dog. the other suspect ran out of the building and into police custody. >> it's san francisco. i'm not surprised about anything anymore. it's -- it's -- i would -- if i were to rob a house, i would rob a house with a lot more in it but i'm not a robber. >> the boy found in the car by police was take on the hospital for evaluation and investigators say the child may be related to the suspects. police in pleasanton are looking for a man and woman suspected of stealing power stools at a moment depot and making their getaway by ramming this car into security officer.

police say this is a surveillance photo of the female suspect suspect. officers were called to the home depot on johnson avenue before 10:30. police say a store security guard detained the woman and then a man intentionally yan over the security guard with a -- man ran over the security guard with a car. the security guard was hurt but is expected to recover fully. mail-in ballots are going out today to fill an open city council seat. ten people from district 4 are campaigning for a seat vacated by canson chu. the primary election is on april 7th. unless one candidate wins with more than 50% of the vote, a runoff election will be held in june. just ahead -- more successful airstrikes against isis fighters in the middle east. the importance of the targets hit and why the u.s.-led coalition is being criticized.

two australian teenagers were stopped at the airport in sydney by authorities who believe they were on their way to join islamic state fighters. australian authorities say the two brothers, one 16 years old, the other 17, were picked up on friday as they tried to get through customs. they were taken into custody when customs officials noticed something suspicious in their bags. no word yet on what that might have been. the teens were related released to their parents who reportedly had no idea of their intentions. >> these were two misguided young australians, australians born and bred, went to school here, grew up here, imbibed our values and yet it seems they had succumbed to the lure of the death cult. >> last month, three british high school girls reportedly went to join isis in syria. it's estimated 4,000 people have traveled from western

europe and several dozen more from the united states to join the fighters. the damage is still being assessed in syria after a u.s.- led coalition strike last night hit an isis-controlled oil refinery. the coalition efforts against the mill lip tants are being criticized by an iraqi official. >> reporter: the u.s.-led coalition targeting an isis- held oil refinery on sunday night. a human rights group said airstrikes killed more than two dozen people including militantsance oil refinery workers. last november, the u.n. estimated isis earned 1.6 million a day from selling oil. security is high in turkey following the attack. >> translator: as you can see, our windows are broken. we had clients ininside. they ran outside fearing. >> reporter: coalition forces carried out 3,000 strikes on isis attacks in syria since

august. this is criticized by an iraqi official. isis is said to have attacked this city over the weekend. >> translator: i'm sure many others share my opinion that slow action by the international coalition against these groups and crimes has encouraged the groups to attack, destroy and pillage. >> iraqi government and local fighters continue to battle isis on the ground and militaries in africa will have to work on combating the influence. special forces conducting a training trill to boost security in the area hit hard by boko haram. the exercise comes days after the group pledged allegiance to isis. like i sit, boko haram seems to cre -- isis, boko haram seems to create a state linked to them in the past. ceremonies commemorating the 50th anniversary of bloody

sunday in selma, alabama continue today. with a rally at the alabama state capitol on friday. a racist chant caught on cell phone video has shut down a fraternity house. [bleep] >> ten-second video was anonymously e-mailed to a fox affiliate in oklahoma city. the footage shows members of the sigma alpha epsilon fraternity on a charter bus. people can be heard singing offensive and threatening words directed at african-americans. the national chapter has given university of oklahoma members until tomorrow night to move out of their frat house. president obama says he wants to create a pipeline of workers to fill tech jobs across the country. the president told a gathering of the national league of cities in washington there are more job openings in the u.s. than at any time since 2001. but many people who need a job don't have the skills employers

are looking for. tech hire will help local communities find, train and employ those workers. >> if we're not producing enough tech workers over time, that's gonna threaten our leadership and global innovation, which is the bread and butter of the 21st century economy. >> the president also announced $100 million in federal grant money to train people who are under represented in the tech field. an. has given us details of a pay tech for the shuttle workers. an. says it is working with the deposits -- apple says it is working with the companies that employ the drivers. we've been told to conserve water because of the drought. but now the three biggest water districts in the bay area are

considering rate hikes because people are using less water. those districts are the santa clara water district, san francisco public utilities mission and east bay m.u.d. while less use usually pleens lower bills, the drought is leading to higher costs for the water agencies that's because they are having to buy water from sacramento to meet demands here in the bay area. >> people are conserving more. that means that the -- the bills that are being paid are coming down ever so slightly and that over 1.3 million people are drinking east bay mud water today. that does add up. >> they plan to discuss a rate week this month. a family in massachusetts has been reunited with their dog after firefighters rescued the golden doodle from the icy waters of the charles river. cooper's family says he ran off on saturday. they spent the day looking for

him with no luck. the next day, cooper was found stranded on a chunk of ice in the middle of the river. it took firefighters 30 minutes to rescue him because there was no direct access. cooper is now doing okay and boy is he happy to be home. >> i'm sure he is. steve joins us now. a little rain in the forecast? >> maybe wednesday, tori. let's forecast our ningers and aptos. we have a lot of sunshine inland. although the fog came roaring back, especially on sunday morning for parts of and today for just about everybody. a little raise haze there. these are your average temperatures for march 9, 63 santa rosa, 62 san francisco. mountain view, 64. today, above, only san francisco is close, and they are still above. it's been that theme for a long time. 50s and 60s on the temps. concord is at 64. a lot of low 60s.

the fog held things up on the lows. 40s and as. there's fog there -- 40s and 50s. there's fog there. those higher clouds are on the leading of edge of a huge -- huge plume. san francisco buoy is 58. monterey, 57. bodega bay is a little cooler. look at this. a heat wave. my goodness. st. louis is 57. new york is 54. bismarck, 57. 50s for everybody and finally everybody warming up. there has to be rain somewhere and there is down in the -- down in texas, a lot of rain here. also in oklahoma, louisiana and the deep south. there is still an active ba tern. this moisture band goes all the way to the heavyian islands -- hawaiian islands. there is a lot here. it's very warm. the source coming up from the west-southwest. speaking of rain. going, going, going. not as bad but still rain to

maui and showers. they've had a lot in the last ten days. for us we'll get the fog back. it's a dry pattern until maybe wednesday morning. high, 60s and 70s. 60s closer by the water. light rain wednesday morning. coast fog, hazy inland. 70s inland but a lot of 60s by the coast. but temperatures are running above average. if you are up towards clearlake, it's warm. 80s there. 70s for most. 60s unless you are by the water and a hint of a westerly breeze. a lot of upper 70s. these are good 7, 150 degrees -- 7, 10 degrees higher than what we should be. the water is warm. it's not that cold. light rain hopefully on wednesday morning. >> keep the umbrellas handy? >> yeah. planning -- patrick willis is planning to announce his retirement. he's only 30 years old. he has played his entire eight- year career with the niners. and the 49ers' all-time leading rusher frank gore is leaving the city by the way bay for the city of brotherly love. he's expected to sign a three- year deal with the eagles when free agency begins tomorrow. the deal includes a guaranteed 7.5 million for two seasons. the 32-year-old gore has spent his entire ten-year career with the 49ers. the 49ers' general manager is denying a report he's trying to trade colin kaepernick, a sports radio host in houston first reported that the 9ers are taking offers for him and says the philadelphia eagles and the chicago bears are interested. late last night, trent baalke said "colin is our quarterback

stocks are higher for wall street. general motors is up nearly 3% after announcing a $5 billion stock buyback to appease an investert. apple is up slightly after unveiling its new smart watch. the three largest credit reporting agencies will be changing the way they handle some records. announcement was made after talks between the three reporting bureaus and the new york attorney general. medical debts will no longer be reported until after a 180-day waiting period. this will allow insurance payments to be applied. and people who contest information will receive more information including what to do if they don't like the response they get. we are following a few developing stories this afternoon. that double homicide we told ulabout in san francisco and in the south bay. the search is still on for an inmate who escaped several days
