>> reporter: a massive manhunt is going on for two carjacking suspects that were chased from san jose. we will have the latest on the search. bullets were right past my head. it was kind of traumatic. i'm still kind of in shock because of it. >> two police officers shot during a pretest in ferguson,

missouri and what police say was the targeted attack. the news conference expected to begin any minute now that could give us an update on the search for the gunman. it's all ahead on "mornings on 2." we are live in sunnyvale, where a very active manhunt is underway for some carjacking suspects. these are live pictures of the scene right now. ktvu fox 2's janine de la vega is there. coming up in minute, she will tell us where police are con-- are concentrating their search. welcome back to "mornings on 2." it's thursday, march 12th. i'm tori campbell. >> good morning. i'm dave clark. let's talk about your weather and traffic. steve is off today but we're lucky to have mark tamayo here. >> today we're talking about dense fog. watch out for a big dropoff off of visibilities. as far as the rain chances, we

had the rain showers yesterday. not the case for today. watch out for lower clouds. especially up in the north bay, novato, santa rosa, napa, dense fog reports up there. here is a look at current numbers. the coolest spots in the lower 40s. most areas around the bay. san francisco to the low to mid- 50s. some of the fog reports, santa rosa, half-mile. this fog bank has been floating around not only up here but the bay area back towards san francisco bay, the santa clara valley as well. warmer today, that's the headline. it will be a warm friday and saturday. it will be humid out there. into sunday, we bring in a chance of a few showers. here's the forecast for today. we'll break it down. partly cloudy skies. patchy fog this morning. 8:00 temperatures, mid-40s to the mid-50s and then into the afternoon hours a nice recovery with mostly sunny skies and

temperature will be on the warm side. the warmest locations on track to reach the mid-70s for your thursday afternoon. it will be very warm for today but especially into the weekend. we'll take a look at your five- day forecast in a few minutes. sal has an update on the bay area roadways. >> good morning. we're looking at a lot of slow traffic out there. i want to show you that one of the trouble spots is on 80 southbound coming out from the -- or to the macarthur maze from the carquinez bridge. we had an earlier accident at powell street. your drive time is up. it's almost 40 minute from the carquinez bridge to the macarthur maze. so please give yourself extra time. it could be a lot worse. this is not your normal commute as you get to the bay bridge, you will see the traffic is backed up all the way out to the macarthur maze and the metering lights are on. i do want to mention the traffic is slow in the south bay, especially on 101. we had an earlier accident on northbound 101 as you come up past the capitol expressway. but we have a lot of slow traffic in many areas, 85 and

280. give yourself extra time. it's 7:03. back to the desk. we have a new development, a sawyer we've been following all morning in the south bay. we have just learned that two carjacking suspects are now in custody. investigators from several cities have been working on this case. janine de la vega says this all started when two armed men approached a man in a cadillac escalade in a san jose neighborhood just after midnight. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, tori. yes. the situation keeps changing. about three minutes ago, i just got confirmation from a lieutenant that they did get the two carjacking suspects. we're here on bernardo avenue in sunnyvale and in the last few minutes, two fire engines just came in here and now we believe that paramedics, firefighters are tending po possibly the suspects. it's unknown if they are injured, if they were shot.

we know the two s.w.a.t. teams from san jose are out here. they were the leads on this search. there was a woman in this neighborhood that had called 911 reporting that she saw a man hopping fences here in this neighborhood and he was holding something in his hands. that was a very credible source to police. they focused their operations in this neighborhood because they considered the men armed an dangerous -- and dangerous. there was a carjacking in east san jose. police say those two men were responsible for that. that happened in east san jose. police ended up chasing the stolen car from highway 280 in san jose to highway 85 in sunnyvale. the pursuit stopped in sunnyvale on remington drive near robin way. >> the. the two men in the stolen car ran away. they bailed out. k-9s did a search. they were looking into the stevens creek area.

thought the men hid but they got the tip from the woman on the other side of 85 in fremont. police are very busy right now. as soon as they give us more information exactly on how they caught the carjacking suspects, we'll bring that to you. but it appears they are possibly tending to them right now in case they are injured. tori? >> all right. well, that's good news for the neighborhood. a lot of people concerned about that. thank you for update. there's high tension in ferguson, missouri. this time after two officers were shot during a protest. police are holding a news conference. katie utehs joins us from the studio with more. >> the shootings happened just after midnight as the demonstration was coming to an end. the news conference, as you said, began moments ago. you are looking at a live feed from the news conference which is being held at the st. louis

county police headquarters in clayton, missouri. that's about 15 minutes from ferguson. a st. louis county officer was one of the men injured in the shooting. we are monitoring the news conference and will have any new developments later in this news conference. for now, i would like to show you the video that captured the moments that shots rang out. [ sound of gunfire ] >> recorded by a woman who was live streaming the rally, the video shows a relatively calm scene interrupted by gunfire and screaming. protesters had been celebrating the announcement that the city's police chief plans to step down next week. this follows the justice department's report that says the department practices racial bias. around midnight as protesters rallied outside of the police station, gunfire hit the two officers. >> i guess the crowd was on one side on the sidewalk. the police officer in the riot

gear was on the other side. kept coming back and forth, going back over. did it two or three times. i believe the third or fourth time is when the police officers in the riot gear was back on their side. that's when you head the shots rang out and two police officers were hit, from what they tell us. >> reporter: one of those officers was hit in the face, the other in the shoulder. at this point, both are reported as conscious and being treated at a local hospital. neither men worthed for ferguson pd -- worked for muss pd -- worked for ferguson, pd. the shooting happened after thomas jackson announced he will step down next thursday. he's the sigsth person to resign -- sixth person or to leave the department. we're monitoring the updates from our newsroom hoping to get an update on the condition of the officers and if they have

located or identified a suspect at this point. dave? >> thank you. new this morning, back here at home, we're hearing about yet another ambulance delay involving the san francisco fire department. according to documents obtained by ktvu, it took almost 13 minutes to get an am plans to -- ambulance to yesterday's miss district fire where five people were hurt. that's three minutes longer than the ten-minute standard for life-threatening calls. as you can see in the screen shots from the documents, a call went out for an an ambulance before 4:31 a.m. at 4:37 a.m., an ambulance becomes available and starts to respond to the scene but it doesn't get to the scene for almost another six minutes, just after 4:43 a.m. the department cited limited funding, staff and they claim they have made significant improvements by adding 19 new

ambulances and more personnel since last summer. investigators are trying to figure out how that fire in the mission district at 24th and treat started. firefighters say mohammed shiebi. his son and daughter, they were rushed to sf general hospital with life-threatening injuries. the boy has been moved to the st. francis burn center with miss mother and older brother. the man runs the liquor store below his home. two people sleeping behind a padlock door in the store were rescued but they ran away from the scene. a family member says those two were store employees who often open up the store early. 7:10. in san francisco a century old building that includes an historic dive bar may have a date with a bulldozer. there is a plan for the castro district bar lucky 13 to be demolish and replaced with a big condo project. the single story 1906 building

is on market street near 14th. a developer wants to build a five-story structure which will include 31 condos and ground floor retail. but historic preservations want any plans to incorporate the historic building. twitter is taking steps to ban so-called revenge porn on its site. the san francisco company has updated its policies to state that users are not allowed to post "intimate photos or video taken or drcketted without the subject's consent" people who violate the rules can be suspended. the ceo of twitter hopes to do more to control -- rampant trolling on the site. someone should have said something. >> coming up, thedy kofry that prompted -- the discovery that prompted the warning and what's

7:14. some are calling a historic compromise in utah. last night, the state legislature passed two bills aimed at balancing gay rights and religious liberties. the governor is expected to sign it into law tonight. the legislation was backed by both mormon leaders an some gay

rights advocates. the bills protect people in the lgbt community from employment and housing discrimination. the legislation also allows people to express their religious beliefs in the workplace without retribution as long as as they don't harass anyone. for example, this will allow a county clerk to refuse to marry a same-sex couple for religious reasons as long as there's someone else available in the office to marry the couple. some are calling this a model for other conservative states. hillary clinton made a surprise stop yesterday at a south bay conference for ebay. the company released these photos of the women's initiative network summit. clinton said she hopes silicon valley will do as much for gender equality as it has has for technological advancements. she said there is a natural bias in the world in hiring and

promoting men. so companies must go the extra mile to break barriers. former florida governor jeb bush took another step seen as preparation to run for the republican presidential nomination. yesterday bush abhownsed he's cutting financial ties -- announced he's cutting financial ties with his business interest, his consulting business. he's selling it to one of his sons and selling his interest in an investment company. he will reportedly visit new hampshire this weekend. that's the scene of the first primary. last week, bush was in iowa, another crucial state. a devastated woman in san francisco is hoping a thief will give back a stolen urn containing the ashes of her mother. here's a photo. this is a very unique teardrop shaped urn. police say it was stolen along with other items from the woman ally home in potrero hill last month. if you see this or have

information, call police. one sausalito city council memorial says the city may have to restrict the number of bikes that roll town during the weekend. more than 1,000 bicyclists have pour into the city. an increasing number are renting bikes in san francisco to ride across the golden gate bridge. the city council is worried about more congestion. however, it's not clear if the city can legally restrict the number of bikes. trying to wonder how you would do that. there's 1,000, 1,001. you have to stop. >> i know. sal is back. good to see you back. >> yay, sal is back. >> can you take care of our folks on the roads? >> yes, we can. we see a lot of east bay traffic that's very slow on this thursday. westbound 80 is going to be slow at the bay bridge toll plaza. you will see it's backed you for a 25-minute -- backed up for a 25-minute delay.

getting to the eastshore freeway will be tough as you drive through. we have a lot of slow livermore traffic as you drive to the dublin canyon. traffic is going to be slow and then 680 is also slow as you head south. so you have a lot of slow traffic in that area as you drive through. please give yourself plenty of extra time. also in you are on the nimitz east bay freeway, that traffic is okay. 680 southbound 242, you have the typical traffic there. good thing no accidents. it's moderate and highway 24 looks good. south bay, san jose, northbound 280 getting up to highway 17. you can see the traffic is slow. 101 is slow, we had an accident at cap -- capitol and it's slowing to sunnyvale. here's mark tamayo. warmer weather 0 over the next few days -- weather over the next few days. 70s. talking about some low 80s. but look at this beautiful camera looking out towards transamerica pyramid in san

francisco. there we go, the fog. it's moving around rapidly. one area is clear. the area a few minutes later, the nothing will clear out this afternoon. temperatures will be warmer. instead 60s, we're thinking 70s. a big batch of high clouds out in the pacific. most of the energy heading ulup to the west -- heading up to the west. we have the patchy dense fog that will impact your visibility around parts of the bay area. here is a look at some of the current numbers, lower floors in santa rosa and napa -- lower 40s in santa rosa and napa. the fog floating around the bay and also the north bay, novato, they've had clear zero visibility all morning long. right now a quarter mile. santa rosa a big jump. you get the idea. the fog moving around. you can have changing conditions by the minute it seems like out there. it's one of those deals if you are driving, you might have

clear skies and you enencounter -- encounter the nothing bank. into the afternoon hours, more sunshine, temperatures, the eventual temperature range will be from the mid-60s all the way to the mid-70s. the san francisco forecast for today, you can see during the morning hours, mainly in the 50s on track to reach the upper 60s this afternoon. so yesterday's system is long gone. no rain clouds to worry about for today. no raindrops to be dodging for today. as high pressure builds in. storm track it be pushed up. by saturday, warmest locations will be in the lower 80s around 80, 82 degrees. but it won't be completely clear. some of the high clouds paying us a visit into the weekend. after the fog this morning, increasing sunshine for the afternoon hours and then more high clouds for your friday and we'll continue with that theme into the weekend. you will notice rain up to the north. there is a chance of rain

showers. best chance in the north bay and that would be for sunday. forecast highs this afternoon. a lot of 70s out there. you can see the warmest locations approaching the mid- 70s out towards san jose and santa cruz, san francisco, 69 degrees. the look ahead to your five-day forecast, scattered high clouds for friday into the weekend but look at that one temperature basically trying to jump off the graphic. lower 80s on saturday and by sunday, we bring inspect chance of a few -- in the chance of a few showers. if you are thinking about going for a run the next few days, keep that in mind. >> where is -- where is the 80 gonna be? it won't be blanket all over the bay area? >> san jose, morganhill, gilroy, santa cruz. those areas. but i always say if it doesn't feel like -- if it doesn't get to 80, it will feel like 80 degrees. >> yeah. >> we talked about this earlier. southern california close to 90 degrees. >> whoa. oh, my gosh. thank you.

well, good morning. welcome back to "mornings on 2." 7:24. a new bill that would ban smart televisions from having the technology to record your personal conversations is being drafted now in sacramento. companies that make the tvs say the recordings are only used to improve the efficiency of voice commands. however, privacy advocates say consumers have a right to know your conversations could be recorded even when you are not using voice command functions. >> i think when a commission starts recording the conversations, that families have having, that's where we need to -- are having, that's where we need to draw the line. that should not be allowed in california. >> i think you need to learn how to adopt. it's not like i'm going to give my bank account information to my tvs. >> a point. manufacturers say the voice technology can be turned off by the user but lawmakers worry

day o'conner and the dalai lama. her lecture is scheduled for april 20th. 7:26. this morning, antioch police are looking for a man they say tried to abduct a girl walking home from school. what officials are doing to keep students safe. >> reporter: we're live in fremont this morning where a rabid bat that was found near a community center is raising concerns for families this morning. mum, what health officials are saying about it -- coming up, what health officials are saying about it. we have slow traffic on san jose on 101 and 280. still a little dark there. but you can see brake lights. in weather we've been watching patchy dense fog move around the bay. we have warmer temperatures in the forecast. coming up when 80s return. that's right. i said 80s. and the one day we could be tracking a few rain showers as well. a lot to talk about.

let's talk about your weather and traffic. steve is off. mark is here. i ducked out a moment ago. it's a little nippy outside. >> a little chilly. >> but it will change. as my mom still tells me, dress in layers. >> yes. >> we're talking about some dense fog out there this morning as well. but then into the afternoon hours we're expecting mostly sunny skies and more 70s across parts of the bay area. yesterday system is long gone. no rain clouds to talk about today. but the leftover moisture in place, we have patchy dense fog forming impacting your visibility for your thursday morning. current numbers, pretty chilly, 40s. oakland 47 degrees. santa rosa and napa in the lower 40s and san jose, 55. we have fog floating around the entire bay area but the real dense fog has been up towards novato all morning long. only a quarter mile visibility at last check. santa rosa was down to under a mile but they've improved a bit as well. i think the conditions will

continue to change over the next couple of hours. warmer for today, econveniently. mid -- eveg -- eventually. mid-60s to 70s. san jose, 74. livermore, 73. we have one panel in our five- day forecast that shows 80. we'll have more on that in a few minutes. we'll also let you know when rain showers, at least the chance of a few showers could pay us a visit. sal has more on the roads. we have a lot of the slow traffic all over the east bay and south bay, mark. thank you. let's go outside and start off with a look at the commute trying to get into san francisco. you can see westbound traffic is going to be busy as you come up through. it's about a 30-minute delay. 80 is 80 is very slow. we have a couple of problems on the nimitz freeway, northbound 880 near davis. there's lanes blockerred here and a big rig crash northbound 80 to eastbound 80. those two crashes have the nimitz in two separate spots

very slow from san leandro up to oakland. once you are in oakland trying to get to the bay bridge, i do not recommend 880. use 580 even though it's crowded from the 24 interchange. that ramp on 880 to eastbound 80 continues blocked. 80 westbound through contra costa county is slow from just after highway 4 as you head down the richmond and 680 looks slow. it's backed up to 242. cun to danville, the traffic gets better on the way to san ramon. let's go to the south bay now. northbound 280 has been slow getting up to highway 17 and so has 101 and 85. all of the freeways are slow. 7:33. back to the desk. >> all right. there is a new development in the story we've been following all morning for you. this is a live picture. we're looking at an active police scene in sunnyvale. police in the south bay have two suspects in custody after a carjacking that occurred just

after midnight in san jose. look at all of the police out there. s.w.a.t. teams and k-9 units have been involved in this search that covered a large part of northern santa clara county all morning. officers credit the k-9 units with finding the two men in sunnyvale less than an hour ago. they are suspected of using a gun to steal a cadillac escalade near tully and lacresia. the suv and gun were also found. now, janine de la vega is at the command center. she will have much more on this story coming up in just a half- hour from now. turning now to a very disturbing find in fremont. a dead bat with rabies found near a community center. some of the people there are concerned that warning about this didn't go out sooner. brian flores joining us now live now. you are in fremont. what esvector control saying about this -- what's vector control saying about this?

>> reporter: they are saying not to be alarmed but they do want to get the word out just in case this bat that had rabies exposed others or even pets. now, the balt was discovered on friday -- bat was discovered here at the community center in from mont-- fremont. it was dead by the time the worker found it. the worker used a stick to move it to a nearby bush. >> it wasn't picked up until saturday. it was tested and soon discovered it had rabies. health officials for alameda county say there's not cause for alarm but there is a little bit of a concern, especially with families, with kids and pets that walk through the community center as well. >> i think it's a little bit of a concern, especially near a park, a lot of kids nearby and playing soccer, as you can see right now. it's something of a concern of, you know, why it has rabies or

why it's on the ground. >> reporter: officials say rabies exposure to humans can be fatal. it can affect a person's brain and nervous system. it's passed by touching the saliva or brain tissue of the animal. health officials say most of the cases to humans are the source to the bat. they say within the county, they get about two to six reports of rabid bats here but they say if you believe you may have come in contact with this bat to give them a call at the alameda county health department. back to you. >> what a story. brian flores, thank you. antioch police say they are looking for a man who tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car on her way to school. tara moriarty joins us live from antioch middle school where school officials say they are taking action. good morning, tara. >> reporter: we just spoke to the principal of the school and

he said they are definitely beefing up security around campus and urging parents and students to report anything suspicious or out of the ordinary. this incident happened around 7:00 yesterday morning. two and a half hours late exer, the school sent -- later, the school stent out a message saying the children was approached by a man in an suv. this was a mile away from campus when the unshaven man in his 3030s -- in his late 30s pulled up and asked if she wanted a ride. she ran. she reported the incident to a security guard. police have not determined if the man has committed a crime. they say his suv was similar to a pt cruiser. we are going to try to talk to some parents this morning and get their reaction and see how they feel about how the school is reacting. we're live in antioch, back to

you. >> it will be interesting to hear that. thank you. well, volunteer search teams are preparing for the final organized search for missing teenager sierra lamar. that search will be this saturday just two days shy of the third anniversary of the day the 15-year-old disappeared. her family said it's a hard to decision to stop the search but there are no other places to look. she vanished while on her way to a school bus stop. for the last three years, almost every saturday about 20 dedicated volunteers who call themselves team sierra, they've searched and some of them vow to keep searching on their own. antolin garcia torres has been charged with her murder and though her body has not been found. we have new information about the shooting of an oakland mother trying to protect her children from gunfire. camille pierce was shot near

her home on chestnut street. no so far no arrests have been made. the chronicle reports 15 minutes before the shooting, someone called 911 to say that police should come because violence was about to break out. however, the paper says dispatchers did not immediately alert police officers. a memorial fund has been established at wells fargo to help pay for funeral expenses. a san pablo fifth grader is back at downer elementary school today nearly eight weeks after he was beaten unconscious by another student. nathan perry's parents were afraid to let him go back to school as long as the boy was there. at first the principal did not suspend him. but the school district interconveniented and transferred the bully to another school and nathen returned to school yesterday.

earlier this month, nathan's parents pleaded with the school district to do something. >> my son was sent away from the school in an ambulance to the hospital with a severe concussion. and what the boy, the other boy did, is classified as assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. >> san pablo police say they are still investigating the incident. 7:40. well, the secret service is dealing with another scandal. two top agents are under investigation for misconduct after they crashed a car in a white house gate last week after a night of drinking. one of the agents reportedly is a top member of president obama's security detail. the other is a senior supervisor at the washington field office. now, the head of the secret service says the of homeland security will lead the investigation. b.a.r.t. is adding a new surveillance

system. they set up the sky watch trailer at the north berkeley station. it's a moveable observation post that allows b.a.r.t. police officers to spot crimes being hit committed -- committed. the trailer is on the ground. but it can be raised to give officers a better vantage point. one person thinks it may be an overreaction. >> i don't know we need a guard tower in a parking lot. i think if -- it seems a bit excessive. i can see where the neighbors might be upset having surveillance. sky watch was put in at the north berkeley station to address the rash of bike thefts there. b.a.r.t. official also move the tower to another station sometime this weekend. a worker at a louisiana primate research center may have been exposed to a dangerous bioterror bacteria. this comes after eight monkeys are exposed to the same

button, but it's a beautiful picture of the golden gate bridge. i pushed that button and usually i get my east shore camera. i like that picture. in fact, let's transition to mark tamayo. no, we already did that. back to the desk. >> all right, sal. first day back in a little while. a little sleep deprived with a new baby at home about an hour ago, two carjacking suspects were arrested in sunnyvale. that's after an overnight manhunt that spanned several cities. janine de la vega is live on the scene and says it took several hours to cover the area where the suspects were thought to be hiding. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning. police are wrapping this up. there's one lieutenant left here on bernardo. this is the neighborhood where the two carjacking suspects were captured. they were found hiding in a garage at an apartment complex down the street. both of them were injured by a k-9 that got them. here is some video that we shot

in the last 30 minutes. this is showing those two men that police caught just before 7:00 this morning. they are now at the hospital being treated for the injuries by that police dog. we do want to tell you how it started. it started around midnight in east san jose, two men we're told by police they used a handgun to carjack a victim there in a cad last escalade. police spotted that escalade and that led to a police pursuit. we're told that the speeds reached up to 100 miles per hour on 280 and then to 85 all the way up here in sunnyvale. that's where those suspects ended up bailing out of the escalade. they ran towards stevens creek. there's some dense vegetation down there. police believe they made their way to this neighborhood. a neighbor called police, said she spotted a man holding something in his hand. so that's why police focused

this efforts on this neighborhood. here's what a lieutenant told us a short time ago about how motivated the suspects were to get away. >> i think they were very motivated to get away. the speeds involved in the pursuit, you know, approached 100 miles an hour on the freeway. so clearly, their desire was not top captured by the police. i won't speculate on why they decided to stop and take shelter in the garage. but their actions in the pursuit were far from san jose as we stand here in sunnyvale. >> reporter: we're told that the two men are going to be arrested for carjacking, burglary, eraiding police and um numerous -- and numerous other charges. we don't have the identity of either of they. they are at the hospital. we are told they are in their early 20s. as far as any reward for those police dogs, one of the officers was joking around

saying, that dog -- that k-9 is gonna get a steak dinner. but he said they will be rewarded with a toy. tori? >> thank you, janine. >> what a morning. 8:06. in the meantime, an active police search is underway as we speak in ferguson, missouri. that's where two police officers were shot and wounded overnight. in fact, just within the past hour, there was a news conference by the chief of the st. louis county police department who said this case is a top priority. katie utehs is here in the studio. you've got an update on those two wounded officers. katie? >> the two officers are expected to recover. the officer shot in the face hit in the cheek, he still has a bullet lodged behind his ear. he will have to undergo surgery to have the bullet removed. meanwhile in this morning's news conference, the chief of st. louis county police appealed to officers and protesters asking them to consider how difficult these tense situations are for officers trying to discern who

was a prosester and who was a -- protester and who was a threat. >> they were probably about 125 yard away. many officers true their weapons but no officers fired. [ sound of gunfire ] >> three to four shots rang out after midnight as you can see in this video recorded by someone who was live streaming the protest. people had gathered in front of the newschopper2 police department to celebrate the announcement that the ferguson police chief would resign. following the skating report from the justice department. a couple of protesters were arrested for blocking the street. the crowd was dispersing when the two officers were shot. one of them from websters grove police department and the other from st. louis county. now, i mentioned the officer being struck in the face. the other man took a bullet to the shoulder and it went out his back. now, officers are still searching for the shooter. >> we have some -- perhaps

leads on that. i'm gonna leave that alone at the time. let the detectives work. they are still out in the field right now. >> there has been some debate as to whether the shooter was a protester or not. the shots came from some distance, 125 yards or so. the st. louis county chief warns that firing shots at officers could have resulted in returned gunfire with which could have led to a drastically different outcome with an exchange of gunfire. >> all right, katie utehs, thank you. we'll talk to you again later. a san jose police officer may possibly face a life sentence after new charges surfaced against him. 39-year-old jeffrey graves is accused of raping a woman that he met during a domestic disturbance call. yesterday, prosecutors announced there's evidence to support new charges including the use of a gun. the judge ordered graves into custody while she decides if those charges against him should be increased. a hearing on that is set for tomorrow. 8:09. new this morning, we're learning about another another

ambulance delay involving the san francisco fire department. according to documents obtained by ktvu, it took nearly 13 minutes to get and ambulance to yesterday's mission district fire where five people were hurt. that's three minutes longer than the department's ten- minute standard for life- threatening calls. as shown in these screen shots from the documents, a call went out for an ambulance just before 4:31 a.m. six and a half minutes later, at 4:37 a.m., an ambulance becomes available and starts resouthbounding to the -- responding to the scene. but it does not arrive at the scene for another six minutes after 4:43 a.m. in the past, the fire department cited limited funding, staffing and rising call volumes for delays. but they claim they've made significant improvements by adding 19 new ambulances and more personnel since last summer. investigators are trying to figure out what started that

fire at 24th and street in san francisco. firefighters say mohammed, his 6-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter were taken to sf general with life-threatening injuries. the boy has since been moved to the st. francis burn unit with his mother and older brother. he runs the liquor store below his home. two people sleeping behind a padlocked door were rescued but man from the scene. the two were employees who often opened the store early. alibaba is reporting using some of its ipo money to invest in something not allowed in china. they are investing $200 million in snapchat. this is according to reuters. they are building up the mobile services. but it's not clear how snapchat, which is blocked by the beijing government, will help alibaba. they are not the only chinese company to invest in snapchat.

in utah, last night. legislature passed two bills. the governor is expected to sign it into law tonight. the legislation was backed by both mormon leaders and some gay rights activists. the bills protect people in the lgbt community from employment and housing discrimination. but the legislation also allows people to express their religious beliefs in the workplace without retribution as long as they don't harass anyone and the speech does not interfere with the company's core business. this will allow a county clerk to refuse to marry a same-sex couple for religious reasons as long as there's someone else available in the office to marry the couple. some are calling this a model for other conservative statements -- states. jeb bush took another step seen as preparation to run for the republican presidential nomination. yesterday, bush announced he's cutting financial ties with his

yesterday morning as the 12- year-old girl was talking to school on the 2200 block of sycamore drive. that's about a mile from campus. police say it was raining and dark when the stranger pummed up next to her and asked her if she wanted a ride. >> yesterday morning a student was walking to school somewhere around 7:00 in the morning. she said she was being followed by a car. a guy got out of the car. she was very frightened by it. ran into the high school on 18th street and found a safety officer to help her out there. >> reporter: one parent we spoke to has a daughter at the high school down the street. >> translator: [ speaking in nate ifng tongue] >> reporter: the area where the girl is dangerous, she was saying. she said it's not safe. that's why i drive my girls to school, is what that woman was saying. we know that the victim ran half a mile to antioch high

out. it was discovered at the wally pond community service. an employee found it. according to health officials, that worker used a stick to move it to a nearby bush. it wasn't until the next day until it was pickedup. it was tested and has rabies. a bit of a concern especially for families who have kids an even for those who have pets that walk through the community center. >> i'm surprised. i would not have come had i known there was a rabid bat here. >> in general, the public doesn't need to worry. we want to get the message hout because we're not sure who might have come into contact with the bat. they have a child that may have touched it or played with it. we would want to know about that and how that person or the family contacted the healthcare provider and us to let us know.

china. the company has refuted the allegations and insists its flooring is safe. well, this morning, lumber liquidators announced it will pay for the safety testing of lamb min nat floors -- laminate floors of customers. volunteer search teams are preparing for the final organized search for missing teen sierra lamar. that search will be this saturday. two days shy of the third anniversary of the 15-year- old's tis appearance. sierra's family says it's a hard decision but there are no other places to look. sierra vanished while walking to a school bus stop near morgan hill. for the last three years, listen every saturday about 20 dedicated volunteers have searched the rugged terrain of rural santa clara county calling themselves team sierra and some of them vow to keep searching on their own.

garcia torres has been charged with her murder even though her body has not been found. we have new information on the deadly shooting of an oakland mother who was trying to protect her children from gunfire. 20-year-old camille pierce was killed monday afternoon near her home on chestnut treat. a fund has been set up at wells fargo for funeral expenses. oakland police are reportedly questioning potential suspects. the chronicle reports 15 minutes before the shooting, someone called 911 to say that police should come because violence was about to break out. but the paper says dispatchers did not immediately alert police. 8:39. more than a dozen teaching jobs are being cut by the san bruno school district. >> no more cuts! >> no more cuts! >> the teachers protested last night before the school district meeting. the teachers protested a plan to play off 17 full-time teachers to help close a $2

can see the k-9 is out there as well. officers took away two men and one woman in hadn't cuffs. authorities have been -- in handcuffs. authorities have been searching since the officers were shot. they were taken to the hospital for treatment and were released a short time ago. now, about 45 minutes ago, attorney general eric holder released this statement about this new development in ferguson, missouri. he said "this heinous assault on two brave law enforcement officers was inexcusable and repugnant." he also said that the department of justice continues to stand against all acts of violence against police officers when and wherever they occur. more problems at the port of oakland. pam cook joins us live now with a view of the port in the background. you talked about the economic impact of the labor dispute.
