manhunt. two men were filially captured by a canine. they were hiding in someone's garage. >> it is scary. you know, usually not a lot going on here. . >> reporter: police say the men had been on the run since midnight when a carjacking was reported in east san jose. >> he was confronted by two hispanic adults and stole his cadillac escalade. >> reporter: they stole it and ended up chasing it from there to highway 85 into sunnyvale. the thieves stopped the car and ran away. >> one weapon was recovered within about 100 feet of where the vehicle was abandoned. the two suspects fled into a heavy dense creek area. >> reporter: a woman who butts up against stevens creek called police saying she saw him holding and it prompted a yard

to yard search here. officers woke up the people in these houses. >> i opened it and they went inside and looked in all of these places. then they saw my garbage can is falling down and all and said it looked like he was over there. police officers held a perimeter. the suspects two are many their early 20s were caught just before 7:00 a.m.. >> i think they were very motivated to get away. the speeds involved in the pursuit, you know, approached 100 miles per hour on the free weight or preponderance of all the evidence their desire was not to be captured by the police. >> reporter: it is as well as carjacking, burglary and weapons charges. ktvu fox 2 news. >> the principal says he is beefing up security. the incident happened yesterday

while the 12-year-old girl was walking to school on sycamore drive. police say it was raining and dark when a stranger pulled up next to the girl and asked if he wanted a ride. >> yesterday morning a student was walking to school somewhere around 7:00 in the morning. she said she was being followed by a car. a guy got out of the car. she was frightened by it and ran into the school and found a safety officer to help her out there. >> reporter: police are looking for an african american man in his 20s unshaven driving a white or gold suv similar to a pt cruiser. a man could face a life sentence after new charges surfaced against i. jeffrey graves is accused of raping a woman he met during a domestic disturbance call. prosecutors announced there is evidence to support new charges including use of a gun. the judge ordered graves into custody while she decides if

the charges against him should be increased. a hearing on that is scheduled for tomorrow. it is expected to be business as usual today at the port of oakland after a dispute over crane operation. things in general are improving after the major sport shut down with four ships waiting to dock yesterday. that is down from 20 last sunday. he says the port dispute highlights how important california is to the world committee. >> this is the gateway to the asia pacific. whether it is farmers or people producing parts of needing parts to come out of the country to keep manufacturing plants open this is a critical part of the infrastructure and we want to make sure it stays

back and land safely. >> we have located the wreckage of the black hawk. it was reported missing tuesday evening. at this point we are not hopeful for survivors. we are transitioning our search and rescue operation to a recovery and accident -- safety investigation. >> reporter: on board the helicopter that went down part of the unit that had conducted humanitarian missions following gulf coast hurricanes and the bp oil spill. the black hawk also carrying highly trained warriors from the marines special operations command. the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff says this accident serves as a reminder that all of those who serve put their lives at risk not only in combat but also during

training. fox news. in san francisco investigators are trying to figure out what started an apartment fire at 24th. they say his six-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter were taken to the hospital where life threatening injuries. the boy has since been move today the burn unit with his mother and older sister. he runs the liquor store below his home. two people sleeping behind the were always rescued but ran from the scene. the two were employees who often opened the door early. yesterday the department of building inspection told us last october they responded to a complaint of people illegally using the store as a residential unit. that was incorrect and the complaint was for the business across the street. new violence in ferguson, missouri after gunfire rings out at a protest, what witnesses say they saw right

we learned police converge odd an home and taken people in for questioning following the shooting of two police officers overnight during a protest. the officers were taken to a hospital but released earlier today. these are new images we obtained from the shooting. you can see officers taking cover behind a brick wall with guns drawn. one of the injured officers was loaded into an ambulance. this latest comes in the wake of a sating report from the department of justice which has been increasingly critical of police and city officials. joe has the latest on the tense situation in ferguson. >> one officer was shot in the face and the other in the shoulder. neither injury was considered life threatening. both officers were released from the hospital. this was the moment two officers, one from a near by

town and the others were shot in front of the ferguson, missouri police department. >> it was kind of traumatic. i'm still kind of in shock because of it. >> reporter: he admits it could have been much worse. >> we could have buried two police officers next week because of this. >> reporter: the latest following a resignation of ferguson's embattled police chief. thomas jackson was the sixth employee who was retired after a blisters justice department report. >> the constitutional violations have not only severely undermined the public trust and made local residents less safe but created an intensely charged atmosphere. >> ferguson has been only edge since a white police officer shot and killed a black teen last august. the justice department announced there was instuff evidence to indict wilson.

tensions began to rise again when the d.o .j . accused the department of widespread racial bias. >> it some how justifies all of the violence. it doesn't. the attorney general should be ashamed of himself for pouring kerosene on this fire. >> reporter: they say the ferguson police department was biased against african americans but the president says most police officers does their job fairly and heroically. fox news. just this morning president obama made a comment about the police shooting. he said quote violence against police is unacceptable. our prayers are with the officers in missouri. a path to justice is one all of us must travel together. getting the word out that a dead bat with rabies was found near a playground. it was discovered friday. animal services picked it up on

saturday and tests later showed it had rabies. they say there's no cause for alarm but some people we talked with were concerned. >> i'm surprised. i would not have come had i known there was a rabid bat here. >> in general the public doesn't need to worry. we need to get the word out to make sure if anyone was at that community set center, if they have a child that may have touched it or played with it we would want to have them contact the health care provider and let us know. >> they get from 2 to 6 reports of rabid bats in a typical year. more than a dozen teaching jobs are being cut by the san bruno school district. teachers protested before last night's school district meeting. the plan is to lay off 17 full time teachers to help close a $2 million budget deficit. >> you know teachers and staff,

batting practice in arizona. he'll play shortstop for the a's as the team faces the mariners in league play. he is doing this as a promotion for his comedy web site and promotion later this year. ferrell plans to play for the a's and giants and play every position as a tribute to butt to burt campaneras. he started off with a tribute to marshawn lynch. he said hi was in beast mode in reference to lynch. they are enjoying having ferrell as one of them for the day. >> love it. here is a look at current numbers updated for the 12:00 hour. san jose 66. it will be warmer for today and pretty warm friday and saturday especially on saturday. borderline hot for this time of year. it is around 80 degrees. showers on sunday mainly for the north bay. it is not a big deal. it is north of the bay area. we start out with patchy fog. more sunshine this afternoon and temperatures in the 60s. lots of 70s out there. as we take a closer look there it remains north of the bay area. this will really warm things up for friday and saturday. as i mentioned high clouds moving in on top of that high. it won't be completely clear

out there. a few high clouds moving into the region. you'll notice into friday still scattered overcast out there throughout the day. same thing into saturday. it could be a filtered sunshine effect. you'll notice the rain line up. look what happens into sunday. this approaches the bay area. it looks like the best chance would be up in the north bay. we'll keep an eye on that. that's kind of a new change to the forecast. temperatures this afternoon mainly in the upper 60s to the 70s. look at all of these 70s showing up. gilroy 75 degrees. half-moon bay 69 and santa cruz in the 70s. it will be a big warm up. you can see temperatures trending up for friday into saturday. saturday is warmest locations will be around 80 degrees especially out towards san jose and gilroy and santa cruz.

it will be around 77, 78 degrees. no major storms showing up just yet, tori. it will feel the complete opposite. it will feel strange. >> it is unusual when you feel muggy hire. >> it is a weird feeling for us. >> wow. thank you. >> sure. the car crashed in a freezing river. she went home from the hospital, the clues investigators are trying to piece together about the accident.

on the stock market the dollar giving ground against the euro. it calmed the frenzy. banks doing well right now. the dow is up 251. nasdaq is up 38 and the s&p up 24. the 18 month old baby girl who survives 14 hours inside a floating car where her mother was found dead, that little girl is now back home. she left yesterday with her father. lily was critically injured when her car crashed into an icy river last week. it took 14 hours for someone to notice the partially submerged car. her 25-year-old mother had died. police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

they say they found marijuana, pills and unusedused syringe in the car. >> we are waiting for those results to verify. >> her father says his daughter is doing amazingly well. while caring for his daughter he is also trying to cope with the death of her mother who was his fiance. firefighters have a new tool to help with performing water rescues. she was on hand to receive 40 custom wet suits donated by the peter patrick foundation. the department's old wet suits were black and less flexible. the new ones are red and black to ensure they can be better seen in the harsh san francisco bay waters. >> it is easier to see. also they have one on the truck. we have the area ladders up.
