good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. we begin with breaking news in the south bay, where federal agents have just carried out a raid. agents from the fbi and the recording industry association of america took several boxes from a home on witten avenue in san jose. they were filmed with cds. they loaded them on a truck. the raid had something to do with bootleg recordings. in san francisco, a woman is

hospitalized after an accident sent a car slamming into a funeral home. the accident happened at gary boulevard around 9:45 this morning. the white chevy sedan collided with a toyota. investigators say the toyota wound up hitting sinai memorial chapel right by an entrance. a 75-year-old woman was taken to the hospital. we don't know the extent of her injuries and it appears nobody else was hurt. a firefighter was injured last night as crews worked to put out a fire at an abandoned church in san francisco's ocean view neighborhood. flames broke out after 10:00 p.m. at the old church on broad and capital streets. this is near the city line with daly city. cell phone video shows flames coming through the doorway of the church. neighbors say transients have used this building as a shelter from time to time. one witness said he saw a homeless person trying to put the fire out herself. >> i feel like some lady tried

to pass the fire down, tried to stop it. she couldn't. it was way too big for her. she just had a piece of cardboard. she took off. that was it. >> we're told during the fire, a firefighter slipped and fell while on the roof of a building. no word yet on how the fire started. police in san jose want your help in finding a man wanted for a violent robbery. this is a sketch of the suspect in the beating of a robbery victim last november at a home on east capitol expressway. the man is described as being white or hispanic, 22 to 29 years old, and 5'6" to 5'10". he's thin and has plaque hair and blue -- black hair and blue eyes. police released this surveillance picture of the suspect's truck. it's a dark-colored pickup with a cover on the back with windows. the manhunt continues in ferguson, missouri for whoever shot two police officers there during a protest. doug luzader has more on the

growing tension and what president obama is saying about this latest violence. >> reporter: ferguson, missouri has become a real powder keg and police are racing to find the person who shot two police officers. ♪ >> reporter: singing, a candlelight vigil and calls for peas overnight in ferguson. a marked -- peace overnight in ferguson. a marked contrast from the night before when shots rang out. the two police officers were hit late wednesday. both hospitalized and later released. the president sat down last night with jimmy kimmel and said there was no excuse for the violence. >> whoever fired those shots, shouldn't detract from the issue. they are criminals, they need to be arrested. >> reporter: police searched this nearby house as the hunt continued for the gunmen. while individuals were questioned, there were no named

suspects. even after a half a dozen people have lost their jobs, they say it's getting difficult to maintain the peace. >> when you look at the tenor of some of the people involved in the protests and civil unrest, it at times can be very troubling. >> reporter: while many here express sympathy for the officers who were shot, others saw it as an expected outcome or even a conspiracy. >> you have to expect the violence to come back towards you. >> i think it was a complete setup. i think it was a setup between members of the police fraternities. i think they operate like the kkk. >> reporter: the president of the fraternal order of police, meantime, says these kinds of attacks on police officers should be defined as hate crimes. in washington, doug luzader, fox news. we're now learning the two secret service agents who crashed into a white house security barricade after a

night of drinking drove right through an active bomb investigation. according to the washington post, at about 10:25 p.m. on march 4th, a woman placed an object on the ground floor an entrance tonight white house that she claimed was a bomb and then drove off. just before 11:00 p.m., the two secret service i gents rushed to the -- agents rushed to the -- returned from the white house. it shows the agents driving right next to the suspicious package. an explosive team later determined it wasn't a bomb. a 19-year-old is being held without bail accused of hitting a women with a stray bullet. anthony sims faced murder and gun charges in the death of pierce. police say sims was arrested after he went to highland hospital for treatment for a gunshot wound. it's not clear if he fired the fatal shot. outside the home of the young mother neighbors and friends have been leaving flowers,

candles and stuffed animals to show their love and respect. pierce was shot monday afternoon as she tried to yield two of her three children from the violence outside their home on chestnut street. pierce is being remembered as a devoted mother. >> she loved her kids. bent over backwards. that's one thing you can say about her. she was a great mother. >> amen. >> amen. >> praise good. >> what gets me about this, an innocent mother trying to do the right thing. >> court orders show sims has a previous conviction for caring a consealed weapon. he's expected to enter a plea in court next week. a serial tagger who has reportedly left his mark all around san francisco is now facing several charges. but the question is what kind of punishment will he face? the 18-year-old was arrested yesterday morning after someone spotted him tagging public

property and called 911. he was tracked to delores park where police say he had multiple cans of paint with him. they also say he was taking pictures of his graffiti. he's suspected to be the person spray painting the words, crist and sheep means? >> crist means crystal meth. sheep means [bleep] >> he's facing ten felony and 17 misdemeanor charges. a spokesman from the district attorney's office says in these kind of vandalism cases, a judge will often refuse the felony charges to misdemeanors and those convicted serve minimal jail time. but people we talk to hope it won't happen in the case. they say graffiti is ruining the city. they feel someone needs to pay for it. golden state warriors center marreese speights will miss the game tonight because

of a run-in with the law last year. he's being suspended would no pay for one game. he pleaded no contest to reckless driving in tampa, florida. he was arrested in august and was originally charged with driving under the influence. a journalist raised in the bay area, held in iran for eight months. we spoke to his brother and his nunn newspaper. sunny skies and a warm weekend on the horizon. rosemary orozco is up next to tell us the hot spots you can expect. a dire prediction about the lingering droughts from a top nasa scientist.

isis is expanding its reach into west africa. there's word today it's teaming up with boko haram, the same terror group that kidnapped hundreds of nigerian school children last year. they are also responsible for an estimated 10,000 killings. the move comes as both groups struggle from increase in military pressure. yesterday, the u.n. security council proposed to supply money, equipment, troops and intelligence to a five-nation african force fighting boko

haram. it's been eight months since a journalist born and raised in the bay area was imprisoned in iran. earlier, i spoke to his brother as well as his editor about what happened and how they are trying to win his freedom. there's been a lot of focus on the iran nuclear program. but there's also tension concerning a man from the bay area. since july 2014, the tehran bureau chief from the washington post, jason, has been detained in an iranian prison. the charges against him are unknown. he's not been granted access to an attorney. joining me from washington, d.c., are his brother and the foreign editor, douglas. good morning. >> good morning. >> good morning. >> ali, you are from the bay area. where are you from? >> both jason and i grew up in marin county, born in san francisco. jason spent the first 25 years of his life living in the

united states before deciding that he wanted to go to iran to be a journalist. >> and your father is from iran and so you both have dual citizenship. he became bureau chief in tehran in 2012. was he ever worried about being detain and thrown in prison especially after the hikers were captured in 2009? >> i think he always saw a big difference of some of the other cases of americans and himself. jason always followed the rules. he was there legally. >> as i mentioned, douglas, it's not clear what charges jason faces. secretary of state, john kerry, says he's constant lit bringing up the fate -- constantly bringing up the fate of jason in negotiations with iran. why do you think he's being held? >> it's really unclear. you know, jason was a fully accredited journalist. he was doing terrific reporting from iran giving our readers a

window to the world. when we send reporters to war zones and areas of natural disasters, we recognize the dangers. we don't expect a government like iran would southwest someone like jason, hold him without disclosing charges, not allow him access to a lawyer and really proceed in a very unjust, unfair way. we have tried to make clear it's time for iran to play by the rules. >> ali, have you been able to communicate with your brother and what are your biggest concerns for him. >> i haven't been able to speak with him. my mother has several times and his wife is able to speak with hill. i think right now, my biggest concern for him personally is his physical and mental condition. it's been difficult for him there for eight months. physically, he's had health problems. but he's also under a great deal of stress and very, concerned and it takes a big toll on him that he's not getting the kind of iranian justice that he believes he deserves, the proet tections he

phone. >> you have miscalculated your tax. >> oh, my god. how much? >> the amount outstanding is $4,550.95. >> oh, my god. what do i do? >> that's a call that a victim recorded and posted on youtube because she wants to make other people aware of what's going on. the scammer threatens arrest or in some cases deportation if the victims don't make a payment. federal officials estimate victims have lost more than $15 million. >> very upsets. i've had sleepless nights over this because mainly i feel like a fool and vulnerable. >> federal officials say real irs agents contact people first by mail, they never demand payment by debit credit card or wire transfer. so far there have been two arrests but the scam is so widespread that investigators believe there is more than one group of scam artists operating in this manner. members of the local

teamsters union protested a san francisco bus company this morning in the fight for higher wages for tech bus drivers. hundreds of bus drivers have already voted to unionize. the teamsters local 665 is trying to get drivers with bowers gent transport a -- intelligent transport a wage increase and better working conditions. >> well, the tech companies are -- they are the third party and they oftentimes stay out of it and watch the process play out. >> the teamsters unionized drivers with the company loop which is used by facebook. a nasa scientist says this winter has been so dry, the state has only about one year of water supply left in its reservoirs. a senior nasa water scientist writes in the los angeles times that it's not just reservoirs that are low. he says farmers are pumping so much ground water that wells

of that. it doesn't look like much at all. but in all, we'll be a little bit cooler on sunday. today we're warmer. by saturday nearingle 80 degrees -- nearing 80 degrees for some. then we'll bring temperatures back down for the second part of your weekend. with the spring-like weather in the forecast, trees are blooming. that means something to note for our allergy sufferers. the pollen level is very high for mulberry, sycamore and oak. 65 for oakland. low 70s in walnut creek. already and 71 for livermore. a beautiful dale out in your -- day out in your neighborhood. we have temperatures from the mid- to upper 60s for the afternoon today. looking at 74 from oakland. 70 for san francisco. 73 degrees for mountain view. 75 concord. and low to mid-70s over parts of the north bay. 74 for napa. these numbers, anywhere from 10 to 15 degrees above the seasonal average. as we get into the extended forecast, actually, i want to show you the forecast for the st. patrick's day parade.

a drop in oil prices and worries about higher interest rates ragging stocks lower today. a global energy agency says the oil market has further to drop as supplies from the u.s. show

no sign of slowing. also the fed meets next week to discuss monetary policies. we may get a hint about interest rates then and a row but dollar still threatening to erode the process of companies. the dow currently down 196. the nasdaq is down 34. and the s&p is down 18. steel workers at the tesoro refinery in martinez may be returning to work soon after reaching a tentative agreement with oil executives. they have been off the job since february when management shut down the refineries after workers went on strike. the tentative contract affects workers at other refineries nationwide. the extra supply when they start up again will likely lead to a drop in gas prices. an american who contracted ebola has arrived at a maryland hospital in serious condition. officials say the unidentified healthcare worker got the disease while volunteering in sierra leone. the patient arrived early in morning at the national

institutes of health. it is one of a handful of hospitals with a specialized isolation unit set up to treat ebola. the patient's name, age and gender have not been released. a serious warning from napa county health officials after five recent cases of hepatitis- a are reported. these are the first cases of the virus to be reported in that area in five years. doctors don't know the source of the infections. but the health department says two of the patients work at restaurants in the westin hotel. the health department says people who ate or drank at the hotel between february -- fesh 9th and february 26th may -- february 89th and february 26th -- 9th and february 26th may have been exposed to the virus and need to monitor their health. >> the last time this happened, they were in frozen foods elsewhere contaminated at the source where they were picked
