mostly sunny. westerly breeze in place. 40s for some. 48, 46. yet 57, 56. these clouds are on the way out. it won't be as cloudy as yesterday. more of a west, northwest breeze. sfo west at 16. we have not had an on shore breeze. over all yesterday will be replaced with megly cloudy and mostly sunny. any precip is out of the picture. cool to warm lows. 60s and 70s. all right sal sol far so quiet. has anything picked up? >> we are seeing a couple of incidents out there, steve but it hasn't been nearly as bad as yesterday when we had a lot of big crashes. you are looking at the east shore freeway. traffic is moving along okay as you drive out to the mccarthur maze. it's about a 19 minute drive as

you drive through there. no major problems getting into the area. also looking at the bay bridge teleplay and the traffic is going to be busy as you get to the toll plaza. you can see traffic continues to move along relatively well. however, it will be slow for a ten minute delay at the toll plaza. northbound 87 there is an injury accident. if you take 87 and drive up toward 280, you might want to consider using a different way. you can stay on 101 or do something else. northbound 87 they are clearing an injury accident and traffic is going to be slow in that area. now 6:02 let's go back to the desk. may have been caused by a long running disagreement. ktvu fox 2 reporter alex savidge started to explain the

chain of events. alex. >> reporter: good morning to you. this situation began here in the middle of the vineyard. according to one report this is where the owner of the vineyard shot and killed one of his former business partners before eventually taking his own life. those two men had been locked in baiter dispute over money. specifically they were fighting over $1.2 million loan and that may have been what prompted the violence that played out just before noon yesterday. according to the press democrat, vintner robert dahl shot his former business investor in the head. now his deputies responded to the shooting scene yesterday.

>> ultimately swat teams arrived the first thing they did was go up and clear the vehicle. at that point the swat team found the suspect dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. >> reporter: the victim of yesterday's shooting filed a lawsuit against dahl accusing him of fraud. tv police gave dahl money for his investment.

[ technical difficulties ] police say the man was 66 years old. the woman 55. they also say the people may have been dead for several days by the time they were found. our time is 6:05. a san jose high school is mourning the sudden death of one of its students. the circumstances are still not clear. ktvu fox 2 janine de la vega is joining us from san jose to tell us how the school is responding. >> reporter: it will be a difficult day here at leland high school. the administration asked the students to wear black today to honor the teen who attended school here. last night leland high school

identified the student on twitter as tristan wynn. the circumstances of his death are not immediately clear but on social media people are claiming he collapsed at track practice after school. his friends are using iptristan. leland high school tweeted out the following message. unfortunately today we lost a beloved charger. our thoughts go out to tristan wynn and his family. he will be dearly missed. rest in peace. grief counselors will be on hand to help the students cope with tristan's death. dave. >> janine, thank you. time is 6:06. meantime three children and to adults are recovering now from injuries after being involved in a hit and run crash in oakland. now it happened last night about 9:00 at 68th avenue.

police say a speeding car slammed into the victim's car and then it drove away. emergency crews used the jaws of life to get those victims out of the wreckage. the victims include an infant an eight-year-old, a ten-year- old and two adults. we don't know their conditions. a man accused of pulling out a gun at a petaluma bar died after a high speed police chase. the chase ended near bodega bay in a firey crash. the man's car slam into a tree on highway 1. sonoma county sheriffs officials say a man pulled out a gun at the bar. the man became angry after seeing another man touching her hand. after the man was asked to leave the bar a sheriffs deputy spotted his car and followed it in a pursuit. it reached speeds of more than 100 miles an hour. the san francisco public defenders office is expected to

detail its response to racist and homophobic text messages exchanged by san francisco police officers. the messages were sent in 2011 and 2012 and target african americans, gays, philippine knows, and latinos. four san francisco officers have been reassigned so far as that investigation continues. >> these comments were private comments from one private phone if another. intended for a audience of one person and so the notion of this case is we no longer have privacy. >> his attorney told us the texts were taken out of context, however the public defender says he has identified 100 cases that needs to be reviewed. san francisco mayor ed lee has released a statement saying quote the content of these text messages displays a bias that is incompatible with the values

of our city. time is 6:08. san jose has a timetable to start testing new gear. they will test officers wearing cameras by september. it will start with 12 officers using the body cameras. they hope to roll them out throughout the police department in the fallowing year. san jose police have -- but they have to conduct more tests. san jose police say it won't be fully operational until 2018. they want to prevent lawmakers from limiting the use of license plate readers. the international association of chiefs of police wrote a letter to congress. electronic readers are key tools in fighting crime. they are being used in several bay area cities right now. critics have raised concerns about privacy and how long that information is stored. new york st. patrick's day parade a couple hours away but

brookdale avenue when he was shot and killed. but last week police say they do have a person of interest in custody. the funeral for davon ellis will be held at the ax full gospel church at 11:00. oakland police arrested two more people in connection with the death of a mother of three who was hit and killed by a stray bullet. the suspects are identified as sheldon mcdaniels and jerry harbon. both 29 years old. they were involved in a gun battle that killed 30-year-old chyemil pierce last week. the 19-year-old man identified as anthony simms has been charged with murder. police say they are still looking for more suspects. a man with a 72 page criminal history is due in court in sonoma county today accused of threatening police officers. 47-year-old raymond zalinsi was arrested friday night. police were called to a

restaurant when zalinski was accused of making lewd actions at children. he said he would shoot one and chop all their children up. a has been was panhandling outside of a 7-eleven store is accused of attacking an employee with hot coffee. the clerk asked the man to stop that is when the man game aggressive, punched clerk twice and threw coffee in his face. another store employee called police. the clerk suffered minor burns. our time is 6:15. a storage facility in napa that was badly damaged in last summers big earthquake it is still off limits and that is prompting some people to make a desperate plea for help. 200 people say they have not been allowed inside the condemned storage building to get their belongings. the walls of the building are bulging and leaning

bore. the one that is the furthest south. drivers who were caught in the backup says everyone seemed relatively calm. >> there is too much smoke even inside our cars so we all left. >> people were running back and saying fire, fire. so we got out. >> firefighters commented that the actual fire was very similar to the drill and that it made it easier to react. the tunnel drills are held once a year. >> it was quite a busy day for us yesterday. you know, we don't do it all the time, but sal, you and i were talking earlier. you really did an incredible job yesterday telling people what was going on. giving information in such a critical place the caldecott tunnel. >> why, thank you. i was thinking about what you said about that drill. i remember them closing the tunnel to do that. so i'm really glad they did that. everybody seems to have gotten. >> we talked about that fire that happened years ago too

that made changes. >> right. >> that is where you shine. >> thank you very much, dave. and pam. we will start on highway 24 because highway 24 is one of those areas that most of the time it's good. in fact, i messed up. i'm sorry. we are going to show you highway 24 later. we are going to start on highway 87. i almost forgot i put 87 first because there is a crash northbound 87. now northbound 87 is usually a freeway that is not that crowded at this time but you are going to see some slow traffic in this area. and since i mentioned 24, 680 and this area, i want to come through where my promise. 24 looks good from lafayette to the caldecott tunnel. 680 looks good. highway 4 a little slow as you can see in antioch and bay point. we also told you we would show you the north bay commute. that looks great from novato to san rafael. a lot of green on the map which

is perfect given what today is. let's go to the bay bridge toll plaza. that is backed up at the toll plaza for a 15-20 minute delay. and then in san francisco northbound 101 that traffic looks good. a little foggy there. you can see that traffic looks good. i think i'm having a few senior moments at work today. i forgot where i was going. >> as long as you end upright here, that is all that matters. >> okay, i understand. we do have a little bit of fog out there. the higher clouds are moving east and south. there is a little layer there of fog. a couple little sprinkles yesterday. tracy said oh my gosh, i got my hopes up. and that is about it. i know we had a couple drops san francisco yesterday. this system once again what are you going to do? there is not much there. san francisco speaking of there are already breaks in the clouds. 53 that is a little cool. yesterday was 58.

noticeable difference though. i know the water temps are still warm. monterey at 58 degrees. there is a little bit of a westerly breeze. with clearing to the north you are getting 40s and low 50s. it looks like the temps are settling in. we have a couple upper 50s for awhile. west oakland airport at 18. west, southwest at travis. so a slight delta breeze in place. west 16 at sfo. we did not have that yesterday. it will feel fresh today. even with 60s and 70s. you can see the cloud cover moving out behind that. the lower cloud deck is marching in. to the north already getting clearing. very mild to warm if you're in that cloud bank and some of that all hold on to the east bay and south bay for awhile but then it will be out of here for late morning. 40s in the mountains. next system will spin in higher clouds 3:the storm track if you -- but the storm track stays to the north. you can see clearing taking

he is reelected and on the other hand netanyahu's main rival herzog is in favor of renewing peace talks. time is 6:25. today a san francisco supervisor will bring up the idea of lowering the voting age in elections in the city from 18 down to 16. supervisor john avalos says the political knowledge of 16 and 17 year olds it's about the same of as 21-year-old and close to the average for adults. he also says since many teenagers work, pay taxes, and drive cars, they deserve to have a say in how the city is run. >> the young people vote on just the local elections. they wouldn't be able to vote for statewide offices or federal offices. but i think you will see that people running for local office will want to make sure they consider the youth vote. >> san francisco is the first

major u.s. city top consider this kind of policy. meantime in oregon if you are 18 or older and have a driver's license, you will automatically be registered to vote. that is under new legislation just signed into law by the governor. now oregon is the first state to change its system from one where voters opt in to one where they have to opt out if they don't want to be registered to vote. that system by the way is expect the to add about 300,000 new voters. time is 6:27. there is frustration over slow ambulance response time. the new plan to make sure patients make it to the hospital quickly. >> we're live in san francisco where firefighters stumble upon a marijuana grow operation while fighting a house fire. we'll tell you how neighbors help put out the fire. >> right now we are looking at the south bay and look at this. 237 some slow traffic but not all that bad as you head over to sunnyvale. >> some breaks in the clouds

>> better than yesterday. yes a little more of -- yes, a little more of a westerly breeze. the trend is more of a west, northwest breeze. in fact ocean beaches and northwest breeze at 20. oakland airport west at 18. did not see that yesterday. the higher clouds are really getting out of the picture. the low clouds are still in place. mostly cloudy and partly sunny here in the morning. a westerly breeze 60 and 70s to start. 60s and 70s everything. i think you will get more of that west, northwest wind that will take care of that humidity. higher clouds are racing out of the picture. there will be a mix of high and low clouds but a lot more sunshine today. so clouds and then sun. it will be nice to mild. cool to warm lows. warm to the south. cooler to the north. but a westerly breeze in place on more of an on shore push.

60s and 70s. all right sal, a couple little issues but so far okay. >> yeah we are not doing badly out there. slip better -- certainly better than yesterday at this hour. we are looking at a commute where traffic is starting to get a little bit slow getting on to the bay bridge. but there are no major problems opinion the metering lights went on a little less than an hour ago. it does look okay get into san francisco. san mateo bridge, dumbarton bridge a little heavy heading out to the high-rise. you can see traffic is kind of slowing down. there is also some slow traffic on the dumbarton bridge heading out there. the traffic has not been effected too much by any of the south bay troubles we've had. 87 northbound we had an accident. at first it was thought to be injuries but it ended up being no injuries which was good. 101, 85, and 280 are still doing good. you can still jump ahead of that crowd as you get there.

i want to mention the traffic on highway 4 is getting a little slow coming into concord. 680 to 24 traffic looks good. 680 from concord to walnut creek. let's go back to the desk. new this morning a marijuana grow house in san francisco's bay view neighborhood was discovered after a fire broke out. and the police are still at the scene now and so is ktvu fox 2 tara moriarty and tara, you're hearing from neighbors who rushed over to help people inside that burning house. >> reporter: there is a man walking by. he was on the sidewalk and noticed sparks coming from the house. so he alerted a man in the next door through the window. yelled to him and together they helped to get the family that lives in the downstairs unit out safely. police are still waiting on a warrant that should get here any moment. authorities will get inside and grab hundreds of marijuana plants on the top floor of this home. firefighters stumbled across the grow operations when they came to fight the fire around midnight. we're in the bay view district. authorities say the fire

started because tenants had been bypassing the meter. jerry rigging power. a neighbor who did not want to be identified said that he and his wife have a nine-year-old daughter and had no idea that they were living next door to a grow operation. >> that is the biggest part. i run to the next window to my house and saw the cable was on fire. >> reporter: luckily no one was hurt. police tell us the family in the downstairs unit including a pregnant woman are not connected to this operation. once the warrant is secured, police will move the plants out and we are told there is upwards of 300 marijuana plants. live from san francisco's bay view district i'm tara moriarty back to you. >> thank you. time is 6:34. san jose mayor sam liccardo unvailing a new plan that play change the way emergency crews

transport sick and injured people to hops. the plan calls for firefighters to take over the ambulance service. it's included in the mayor's budget message he delivered last night. he is frustrated over the shaky financial status and slow 911 response times of private ambulance services for the city. the city council is expected to talk about that plan in its meeting next tuesday. many 49ers face the front office to the fans are a bit shocked over the recently announced retirement of line backer chris boreland. it's bringing the herb ewe of concussions back to the limelight. live in the east bay to talk about what happened and reaction. >> reporter: hi, pam, good morning. there are so many different angles to the story already. what does it mean far younger player especially in high school who hoping and dreaming for a career in the nfl. what does it mean for the parents? what does it mean for the 49ers moving forward? and does it mean more younger players will consider retirement in certainly a topic

for this morningen i have a copy of the san francisco chronicle sporting green section where they are talking about it as well. the headline reads one and done. boreland walks away. borland -- told espn he was ending his career because of concerns over head trauma. he had two concussions growing up. once while playing soccer in the eighth grade and then playing at the university of wisconsin. he also says he had no intention of returning to football. and that this was all about his long-term health citing that health problems and deaths of former nfl players because of constant head trauma during his careers. he said he will concentrate ongoing back to school to study sports management. when we spoke to people in the

east bay they had mixed reaction. >> it's a hard decision to make. sports are good. it's not a negative thing. but the trauma the head trauma and that thing is serious. it's irreversible. i think it's an individual decision. i think this man has made a very good decision that he has concerns about it. >> reporter: in the meantime gm said while we unexpected we certainly respect chris' decision. with speaking with chris it was evident that he put a great deal of thought into this decision. certainly a topic this morning. >> that is for sure. thank you, brian. time is 6:37. it is an extreme example of the housing crisis in san francisco. a woman was told her rent is going up more than $6,000 a

month. deb follingstad received notice of the rent increase at the beginning of this month. her rent is going from $2100 a month to $8900. she's been living in the bernal heights home for more than ten years. >> i'm kind of sick to my stomach. i don't know there might be a word for feeling like it's just so shocking. >> it seems like they have done a lot of gymnastics and fancy foot work. >> follingstad said she has been told the rent increase is legal because the landlord converted the building into a single family home. an attorney for the landlord says the new increased rent represents the expanded size of the home. follingstad said she hopes the tension on her case will result in legislation to prevent this from happening to anyone else. but in the meantime, she is looking for a new place to live. some people in oakland are upset with their new landlord that wants to raise their rent

as much as 110%. more than 100 people held the sidewalk protest over what they say is rent increasing as much as $1400 a month. they bought the building in december. tent thans say they are being given a 60 day notice to pay the increased rent or move out. berkshire is charging additional fees for parking, water, burgage, and common space utilities that were included before. fast food workers in oakland plan to hold a demonstration calling attention to their working conditions. now they say they are under pressure to work faster and that is leading to more injuries. at least 28 safety complaints have been filed after workers say they were burned at mcdonalds restaurants across the country. and workers claim some don't have first aid supplies when someone gets hurt. the workers have been calling for higher pay. oakland recently raised its minimum wage to $12.25 an hour

but demonstrators they want $15 an hour. meantime some oakland businesses say the city's new minimum wage law may force them out of business. the owner of the gold metal restaurant in china town says he had to raise prices to cover the cost and now he is losing customers. >> tough time for us. if it keeps ongoing like that, we are not going to make it. we will close down. >> at victory burger in north oakland the price of a meat patty went up $1. but the owner says so far customer traffic is holding steady. it is 6:40. a man died in a firey crash after a high speed chase in sonoma county. coming up in 20 minutes what he's accused of doing right before that chase. >> a murder-suicide under investigation in the wine country. the financial dispute

time is 6:43. welcome back to mornings on 2. the investigation into an apparent murder-suicide in a quiet part of the napa valley continues this morning. ktvu fox 2 reporter alex savidge says napa county sheriffs deputies working on the theory that shootings were sparked by a long running business dispute. >> reporter: the drama began here in the middle of this vineyard yesterday morning. according to one report, his is where the owner of a local winery shot and killed a former business partner before taking his own life. these two men had been locked in a bitter dispute over money. fighting over $1.2 million loan. according to the press democrat vintner robert dahl shot his former business investor in the head. that investor identified as
