deputy who gave it to him but his social media post -- >> there were a variety of threats, specific threats involving wanting to kill the deputy. wanting to hurt deputies in general, blowing people up. >> reporter: one post mentioned planting a bomb on the squad car. a citizen hurted authorities to the threat -- alerted authorities to the threat. >> we have seen we can't laugh these things off anymore. very often they do prove to be credible. >> the sheriff's department sprung into action, serving a search warrant to his home and taking him into custody for the threats. neighbors understand why authorities are taking this seriously. >> i would too. >> sounded serious. that is serious in my book. >> the deputy barely remembered the encounter and didn't think a ticket would

generate this kind of response. authorities say they are grateful to the person who saw the post on social media and brought them to their attention. >> we appreciate them looking out for us the way we look out for them every day. >> reporter: he was booked into the correctional facility. bail is $50,000. >> ann rubin, thank you. a community meeting is underway in west oakland to discuss safety following a shooting that killed a mother of three. one of the suspects, anthony sims, appeared in court. after the hearing his mother issued an emotional appall edge to the family of chyemil pierce. >> i pray for her family and everything. i give them my condolence and for her children, i have grandchildren and everything. and children myself.

so i apologize. >> prosecutors say anthony sims admitted to being involved is in the shoot out that killed her last week but he did not enter a plea. they are still gathering information. >> all i can say is it is our belief that he was not the shooter. >> police also arrested jerry harbin and shelton mcdaniels in connection with the case. billion dollars plan to deal with california's drought. governor jerry brown prosed it today and ktvu's tom vacar is at the reservoir with why this billion dollars plan may be a drop in a very dry bucket. >> reporter: indeed. the bill will help. >> increase the -- >> reporter: the bill has many goals and put on the fast track. money for emergency drinking water for communities facing

grapes. reservoirs are well off their averages right now. officials say lake shasta is 75%. lake orrville 68%. folsome lake is 97%. new developments tonight involving a fiery big rig crash in pittsburg. the driver died after he slammed into a building. we know the trucking company has a history of violations, including faulty breaks and steering. according it records the company was due for a reinspection. ktvu's melanie woodrow with what else we learned about the company's record. >> reporter: over weight trucks, faulty steering and failing breaks. just some of the most severe roby trucking company violations chp identified during inspections. 2 investigates obtained reports that show the violations were

so numerous chp was keeping tabs on the company every 120 days. instead of every two years. it was in between inspections during one of the 120 day periods roby trucking company was given to fix violations that this crash occurred. witnesses say it appears the driver lost control of his vehicle and was honking and flashing lights in an attempt owarn others in his path. he crashed into an empty restaurant and died. >> reporter: [ inaudible question ] >> it is our policy to do that. by law we have to give them due process to fix the issues we identify. this could have been avoided if the company made sure their vehicle was properly maintained. >> chp doesn't know if the truck was sited. the reports say the company did

not have a preventative maintenance program. chp has seized and frozen the trucking company's records so no changes could be made to them. >> we want to make sure to ensure there is compliance. >> melanie woodrow, ktvu fox 2 news. authorities today identified the mother who is in critical condition along with her son after being hit in a crosswalk about 7:00 p.m. last night on an on ramp to north bound 880. the chp says she was pugging her son in a stroller when an suv hit them inside the crosswalk. the driver was a 23-year-old woman. drugs or alcohol were not factors and excessive speed wasn't either. >> sounds like the driver at the time based on initial statements was possibly taking the ramp at a safe speed. >> there are no traffic signals

that ramp and folks say it could be scary when traffic is heavy. the crosswalk falls under caltrans but they won't comment while the investigation is underway. a helicopter medic is facing child pornography charges. police officers arrested him last week. they told us he has been suspended from his duties in the helicopter unit. he was a paramedic licensed. and was a den leader for the cub scouts. the boy scouts of america says it has severed ties with him and there is no information to indicate scots were involved in the case. caltrans announced the winning bid for demolishing the old eastern span of the bay bridge. they submitted the lowest bid,
