to rain it is correlated with more accidents. we'll watch that for you. let's take a look at what we have. this is a look at the commute. we are starting off with the freeway here. 80 westbound as you drive through. you will see the traffic is going to be busy. it is raining there. we are look at the commute there. 80 westbound it is taking 24 minutes. we will see what happens with that commute. out to the bay bridge toll plaza we go and traffic looks pretty good. it's backed up as it normally is. about a 10-15 minute delay which is typical. san jose northbound 101 traffic will be busy as you drive through the area. there is also a crash southbound 680 at 84 and this commute is very, very slow. you can see somehow slow it is on 680 south as you head down. please give yourself plenty of extra time out of dublin. all the way down to the sunol

grade, you will see a lot of traffic. 6:01 let's go back to the desk. captured on camera terrifying moments after a nine- year-old boy fell through the roof of a school. ktvu fox 2 news reporter tara moriarty is joining us live from ucsf where the boy was taken. he was trying to retrieve a ball when he fell through. >> that is right. there is still a lot of unanswered questions about how he got on to the roof. yesterday morning novato paramedics learned -- he was quickly transported to childrens in oakland when the staff saw how severe his

injuries were >> trauma if the head. he was on top of the roof and fell through a skylight and landed on his back. >> reporter: pictures from inside the hospital show the large lump on williams' head. william had climbed up on to the roof on hamilton meadow park to retrieve a ball when the accident happened. while doctors were assessing the injuries, they found something previously undiagnosed. a benign cyst on his brain. they say they will observe him further before making a decision on how to treat him on that. live from oakland i'm tara moriarty. back to you. the search is going to continue today for a missing hiker in yosemite national park. 20-year-old michael dahl was last seen on saturday. he was wearing a light blue hooded sweatshirt and jeans when he within missing.

that is about half a mile from the visitor center. we have circled both places in red for you on that map. lower yosemite falls is the circle on the left. your time is 6:03. a waterfront is fighting to keep its doors open despite a warning to vacate that property. alex savidge is joining us live with more on this battle over sinbad. what is going on? >> reporter: this is a fight that could heat up later on today when sinbad is expected to be served with an eviction notice. they ordered sinbad's to close this past weekend. the idea is to have the building demolished to make way for more piers. this waterfront landmark has been serving up drinks and seafood. but the owners of sinbad are

not going quietly. they are pushing back against that order to vacate. telling everyone the restaurant remains open. but the port of san francisco says the owners are trespassing. now this is a long running dispute. the port has been trying to close sinbad's down since 2012 to make way for that expansion project. the plan is to use the space to expand ferry and water traffic service. the brothers that own ginbad's says they are working out a deal to keep the restaurant. an ejection own ever -- may have bought itself a little bit of time.

time is 6:05. it has officially begun. the 2016 presidential campaign officially started early this morning. republican senator ted cruz of texas became the first major candidate to atown he is running for the -- to announce he is running for the white house and he did it while on twitter. >> it's going to take a new generation of courageous conservatives to make america's greatest. >> later this morning the 44- year-old senator will kick off his presidential campaign in a speech in virginia at liberty university. ted cruz is a tea party favorite. political analysts are debating his chances. >> for senator cruz to gain traction and win the nomination, he will have to be able to unite the coalitions within the party.

>> ted cruz will have to face better known and better funded potential candidates like former florida governor jeb busch, and marco ryan ye, and rand paul of kentucky. on the democratic side it's about ruby. no other major candidates have come forward with everyone rallying around a bo clinton white house bid. over the weekend the boston globe ran an editorial. all but begging elizabeth warren to run against hillary clinton. but warren has said many times that she has no interest in running. governor brown said because of cruz's view on change.

governor brown says that is false and that 90% of climate scientists are convinced that human and industrial activity are causing the drought in california and severe storms onth east coast. today is the last day for voters to register in santa clara county for the april 7th special election. that special election is to fill a partial term for the council members seat in district four. that is after former councilman kevin chew was elected last fall. there are eight candidates right now in that race. the group that wants to build a new home for the oakland raiders and chargers in southern california says it's reached a key milestone. supporters say they have twice as many signatures as they need to put the idea on the ballot. the 14,000 signatures still need to be verified. and there is no clear timetable for building the stadium even if it's approved. the earliest the team could get

welcome back to mornings on 2. our time is 6:12. without saying the threat is real, the pentagon is urging u.s. military families take precautions to protect themselves from an attack by isis. the pentagon is investigating an online hit list posted bay group claiming to be the islamic state hacking division. it shows the photos, the names, and addresses of 100 military members. military experts say that list is like marching orders for lone wolves and operatives inspired by isis. >> they have a hacking division. they have all of these different division. they are getting to a point where they are very organized

and really pressing just as hard until social media and online and in their production value as they are on the battlefield. >> u.s. officials say it doesn't appear that the information came from any hacking activity but wrath fresh public records and social media postings. in the meantime the marine corp is telling its personnel check their digital footprint and limit just how much personal information is available. there is more trouble this morning in yemen. officials within the united nations says yemen is on the brink of a civil war. rebels are escalating their attacks. they have taken over more than one-third of that country including the capitol. that is prompting the u.n. security council to demand an end to the conflict. there is a growing concern that the tension will lead to yemen becoming like iraq, libya, or syria. allowing groups like isis to benefit from the deterioration.

tina wang says twitter creates a glass ceiling for women. her lawsuit says twitter does not have a meaningful promotion process and that she was over looked for promotions. when she complained to twitter ceo, she was placed on administrative leave. she won $16 million to settle her gender discrimination lawsuit. ellen pow who suing perkins scored a victory in her lawsuit on saturday the judge hearing the case ruled perkins can be ordered to pay punitive damages in that case and that could mean millions of dollars more if she wins her lawsuit. the judge say there is is enough evidence for the judge to find palace. star bucks is no longer encouraging its baricitys to

encourage customers. but schultz says putting messages on the cups was just a phase of the companies campaign and insists it was always scheduled to last only a week. he says starbucks efforts to address race are quote far from over. tonight san francisco will play a major role in the world of game of throwns. hbo is hosting a season premier party. fans can see the red carpet arrivals on a live stream on the show's facebook page. the actors and actresses they will be answering fan questions submitted on facebook. visuals from the premier will also be shared on instagram. the game of thronesth first season will -- the first season will start on hbo april 12th.

it was 40 years ago that the warriors won the nba championship. the under dog warriors swept the bullets in four games in 1975. before tonight's game against the washington wizards, fans can see the championship trophy and meet some of the members of that team. the women's ncaa tournament is over for the cal bears. the bears committed 20 turnovers in that 73-70 loss. stanford is still in the tournament. they play oklahoma today for a chance to go to the sweet 16. time is 6:16. a sell out crowd saw the earthquakes win their first game in their new stadium. took two years to build with $100 million of private financing. now the earthquakes beat the chicago fire yesterday 2-1. the quakes next home game is on easter sunday. april 5th. beautiful stadium. >> yes. i'm going on april 11th.

you know it's decent monday. we've had a couple things out there that are making it less than decent for one particular commute. that would be 680 out of pleasanton. we've had a couple crashes there and for the most part that commute is very, very slow. if you are getting on the freeway, trying to get out of the livermore valley and head to the south bay this is a bad commute. this would be the morning if you have the ace train in your options you might want to consider it because 680 is a mess. you might want to consider using 580 if you are going through a different part of the bay. as we move over to 880 just to focus in a little bit more, you can see it's getting busy as you head out of san leandro.

this is a look at 880 north and southbound. you see it's not wet here. we've had some rain on the east shore freeway and parts of the marin county area. i will let steve tell you that. whenever it is raining, the traffic does slow down. >> it's raining on interstate 80. i will show you in a second. also into san francisco which has picked up another .01. that makes .03. you can see a little bit there. there is a little bit there. and just exiting marin county. right over toward berkeley, kenningston. hercules. rodeo. moving over to concord.

welcome back to mornings on 2. one of the bay area oldest family owned restaurants is about to close. mr. mcgoo's restaurant lost its lease. it's being forced to shut down. the restaurant opened on

petaluma boulevard until 1965. the landlord is out of town and not available for comment but the staff and the customers say they feel like they were blind sided. >> it kills me. it absolutely kills me. >> i'm half the time crying between trying to wait on people. and it's hard. it's really hard. >> the bar will still be open one more week. after that the family says they will start looking around to see if they can possibly find a place for a new mr. mcgoos. it was a competition to see who was top dog. >> on your marks, get set, go. this is the wild world weaner dog racing. those little dogs scamp #ered. that one did not scamper. down the tracks. some of them went. some faster than others.

look. one of the things i want to mention is that bart and ac transit are doing well. now let's go back to the desk. time is 6:31. the santa clara police department investigating a deadly officer involved shooting. janine de la vega is joining us live now in santa clara where police pulled into a parking lot just as a robbery was under way. the check showed me the bullet hole ranges on the floor. she says she is filling in for her coworker who had to take the day off. she told me she has been robbed before at a 7-eleven. she said it just comes with everything. two of their officers pulled up to the convenient store on scott boulevard and saw a

suspect pinta gun at a clerk and fire a shot. so they fired at the suspects killing him. a loaded gun was found near the body. neighbors say they heard several gunshots. but have not confirmed how many were fired yet. tried to mow down an officer during a traffic stop which prompted the officer to shoot. that suspect survived. witnesses say they did see a car full of accomplices taken in by police but a spokesman has not confirmed that had

happened yesterday. dave. >> thank you. police until vallejo say a man that was shot and killed by a police officer over the weekend left behind an apology note. this happened saturday night about 6:00. the man had a large knife and confronted an officer. in the note later found by police the man apologized for what he called unknown persons and apologized to the police. he was shot but he is expected to survive his injuries. the police officer was not hurt. police say he has a criminal history therein clouds weapons violations and gangs. the san francisco police department is set to host a

not awire accommodations. a long-time san francisco waterfront is not going down without a fight. the port of san francisco says the restaurant sin bads has to go but ktvu fox 2 alex savidge is joining us live. you are out there this morning. the owner insists they are open for business. >> they certainly do, dave. good morning to you. zip bads is expected to be survived with an eviction notice later on today after missing a saturday deadline. the port hazard everred the restaurant to close down. eventually the build willing be demolished to make way for more peers. the waterfront landmark has been serving up drinks and seafood for the past four decades and the owners of sin bad they are not going quietly.

$500,000 to be borrowed for the oil spill prevention fund. if and when the source of that goo contamination is identified, the people responsible would be required to reimburse the state. the source of that goo that killed hundreds of bay area birds is still a mystery this morning and the nonprofit international bird rescue center had to absorb the $150,000 for caring for those birds. the aging seawall along san francisco's ocean beach is getting a much needed facelift. national park service crews started repairing cracks and holes on the concrete wall. which has really take an beating from the elements over the years. construction is expected to go on through next year. funding for the project is coming from the settlement of the 2007 costco oil spill. three south bay students are showcasing their science projects today at the fifth annual white house science fair.

more than 100 students from across the country were selected to attend. who created a sensor that only needs a single drop of blood so people at the risk of heart disease can test themselves at home. a heated debate continues today over a prime piece of land in the east bay. why some people in lafayette are passionately fighting against a proposal to build a new development on this grassy hillside.

a deadly rock slide killed one person and sent another to hospital the hospital. it happened on saturday afternoon. the middle there is where it collapsed. you can see the people standing up there that comparison gives you an of how big it was. a spokesman says a crack in the land was discovered on wednesday and so they put up the warning signs but to one expected that trail to give way. >> i think what shocked us just as much is how quickly we saw this crack in the ground there and then how quickly it broke off. we've never experienced anything like that. >> there were several people in the trail when the collapse happened. two people fell 70 feet and one of them did die. the area that leads up to arch rock is closed and a go fund me account has been set up to the victims. you can find a link to that account on our website at ktvu.com. our time is 6:43. there is a controversial plan

this morning to phase out wood burning fireplaces in bay area homes. it's an expensive plan that could make your home harder to sell. brian flores is live until san rafael this morning. so why did air quality officials want this plan. >> reporter: this rule could be expensive. the proposal calls for homes not to be sold or rented if it has a wood burning fireplace. or even a certified stove. homeowners again could make the

today the bodies of seven children killed in a brooklyn house fire is heading to israel for burial. the children were sleeping upstairs when the fire broke out. investigators think the fire was started by a malfunctioning hot plate. the children ranged in age from 5-16. neighbors have fond memories of

those children. >> they had big, beautiful eyes. their kindness always coming to help. sweep away the snow. >> the children's 14-year-old sister and their mother survived but both are in the hospital in critical condition. the children's father was out of town at the time of that fire. students at santa rosa junior college will return back to college for the first time after finding out one of their teachers were killed in a kayaking accident. nick anast died on wednesday when he fell out of his kayak. a memorial was held at the beach this weekend and counselors will be on hand for students, staff, and faculty. the family and friends of davon ellis want to put an end to violence. there was a rally yesterday in honor of the teenager that was shot and killed as he was walking to a store last month. the marchers gathered in front of oakland tech high school where ellis played football and

he was an honor student. his father says he is committed to doing anything he can. >> i want to stop the kid from becoming the killer. i want to catch him early and find out what is going on in his lives to make him so angry, so upset. if i can stop the kid from becoming a killer. this is a win-win situation for me. >> the people that were at the rally called for parents to reach out to their kids. find out what they are doing. santa claire ram police are warning about a phone scam involving someone impersonating a police officer. four cases have been reported of a person posing as sergeant gumby or sergeant eric gandy. they claim the person on the phone had been caught speeding and there is is a warrant out for their arrest.

they tell them to purchase a prepaid card to get out of trouble. there is a police officer from kentucky that is making people smile around the country because of the way he helped a struggling runner finish a marathon. these photos from twitter show aubrey gregory joining asia ford for the last two miles of the annual road city run in louisville. after reaching almost 500 pounds miss ford was forced to lose weight. now the last couple of years haven't been easy. that is why finishing yesterday's six mile race was so important. >> when i watched her approach and i started to hear the people scream and i let her go right there before the end and watched her raise her hands, there aren't words. there are no words. >> teary eyed. it was a really special moment. >> it was a 10k not a marathon. the mayor of louisville tweeted out these photos and put a

caption that says what a compassionate city looks like. 10,000 people took to the streets of oakland for this years running manifest value. that is ten-year-old elliot daniels warming up. he broke the world record for the fastest half marathon finishing time in his age group. he crossed the finish line in one hour and 29 minutes. beating the previous record by two minutes. >> we thought that i could beat it so my dad said why don't you try to? i decides to do -- i decided to do it. it was hard at the end. but i did it. i'm happy. >> elliot's cousin set that record more than two decades ago. that time is 6:57. we have the latest on that nine- year-old boy in the hospital
