we spoke with the woman's father. he says the 48 hours before he heard his daughter's voice were horrifying. >> i am grateful. i -- i can't tell you the prayers that have been answered. >> reporter: he told us the moment he heard his daughter's voice on the phone. denise huskins was reported kidnapped from a home on monday. >> i want to hug her. i want to say how -- okay, baby. we are okay. >> his sense of joy quickly turned to panic. >> i wasn't relieved because she wasn't in the hands of authorities. she was walking the streets. >> he answered the call and it was her. she said daddy, i am safe. they let me go. >> reporter: denise huskins made the call to her father from huntington beach, 400 miles away from the home where she was abducted from. the man who owns the home

reported the kidnapping to police several hours after it happened. >> the person that reported this is a victim at this point. and i can't comment about anything else. >> reporter: because of the nature of the investigation there are still many details he cannot clarify. he couldn't say whether there was a ransom note or why the man waited hours to go to police. all he said was investigators have a lot of people to talk to. >> anyone who has any connection to denise huskins we will be talking to and nobody at this point has been eliminated. >> reporter: denise huskins' father told us he wasn't sure when he would be able to see his daughter. police say right now they are making travel arrangements with investigators so they can talk to denise huskins in person. back to you. >> the investigators will fly

two cars. the second car took off. the deputy shot at that car and authorities don't know if anyone was hit. two people inside the first car were detained. authorities are looking for the suspects in the car that took off. the san francisco severe thunderstorm is reexamining policies after -- sheriff's department is reexamining policies after an inmate escaped. monday night the sheriff's office mistakenly allowed him to take the trash outside. he ran away. the sheriff's department is conducting an investigation to determine how it happened. the state department confirmed today three americans were on board the germanwings airbus that crashed yesterday. there were no survivors. investigators are analyzing the black black boxes but they won't say if they learned what went wrong. more on the investigation and

when the officers arrived on center road at 7:00 p.m. last night the officer was shot and killed. watching this procession here as they make their way to los gatos. we have seen an outpouring of support from people around the bay area, communities around the bay area, law enforcement officers showing compassion for the fallen officer. >> there hasn't been a police officer killed in the line of duty in san jose since 2011. that is when an officer was killed. side note here, he and michael johnson were in the same recruitment class. they joined the force at the same time. michael johnson has been a member of the san jose police officer for 14 years. again on his way to the funeral home in los gatos. they have the rolling
