after another record-setting day on sunday for a few. the temperatures are headed toward normal to maybe slightly below tuesday/wednesday, you can see the drop in the upper os, 80s. today it's -- upper 70s, 80s. some. fog beginning to pop up right there moving over san francisco. at least parts of it. that's a sign of a cooler pattern as well. not a strong system. it will be strong enough to not only give us a cooler pattern. a windy one, late tuesday, wednesday. 40s up in la honda. mid-40s. a little chill there. sfo is trying to crank it up. northwest at 8. after that, it's company. i expect the on -- it's calm. i expect a partly cloudy, cooler, breezy today. today, mostly sunny, cooler. 60s, 70s. a couple of soft 80s. a lot of 60s closer to the water. we'll talk about the change coming up.

sal has been dancing since he got out of the gate this morning. a lot going on. we've had a lot of slow traffic especially from 580 coming in from the livermore valley. we'll start with a look at the eastshore freeway, 27-minute drive between the carquinez bridge and the maze. you will see traffic backed up for 20, 30 minutes. we're not getting the spring break, break, if you will. we might get it later. wouldary not getting it now. i want to show you the drive time. it's all ed are. it's taking 68 minutes to drive between grantline road and the 580/680 interchange. that's partially due to an earlier crash and the slow traffic. everyone is up and at 'em on this monday the as you drive to the nimitz freeway, 880 is

slow. back to the desk. a $50,000 reward is being offered in the search for a missing cal soccer player. tara moriarty is live with more on where he was last scene and what has his friends and family so concerned. good morning, tara. >> reporter: well, good morning. friends are very concern about eloi vasquez. he went down to southern california with some of his teammates for spring break and that's when he went missing. he went to a party at a fraternity house late friday night. then around 1:30 in the morning, eloi told friends he wanted to take a walk but never returned. he had no wallet, money or i.d. and then he called had is friends and said he wanted to go to the -- called his friended and said he wanted to go to the beach which is miles away. >> his last call from verizon was to a call in berkeley where

he said he's lost, scared and in his word, screwed, which means he's in trouble. we know that something is wrong that he can be out there somewhere just lost. >> reporter: he attended high school in marin, san rafael and many of his friends and family are in southern california helping search for him. police will be reviewing surveillance cameras in the area where he meant missing. the cal athletics department has released a statement did his disappearance. he said he's a wonderful young man who has expelled both academically and athletically here at cal. we're very concerned for his safety. our first priority is to help in any way. they started to change the facebook profile pictures. this he show the profile and a number to call for anybody who

has responded to him. jetblue says a computer outage has been resolved. but the problems for passengers may not be over. the airline says it's fixed a system wide computer problems that caused delays because the airline had to manually check in passengers. the problem affected flights out of boston and several other cities. passengers could experience delays throughout the country for the rest of the day. also new this morning, in the past 30 minutes, new details were vee realled -- details were revealed about the copilot being treated for suicidal tendencies before he became a pilot. reports say he locked the captain out of the cabin killing owl 150 people on

board. now -- all 150 people on board. bay area pilot sully sullenberger talked about pilot training. >> about 75% have been trained military pilots. they've been screened a second time. >> prosecutors in germany still don't know of a motive for him to crash the plane. pam cook will give us an update on all. new developments in the investigation coming up in 25 minutes. investigators in nova scotia say an air canada jet hit antennas that are part of the halifax airport's landing system before making a very hard landing and then skidding off the runway. it happened yesterday in very snowy conditions as a flight from toronto was attempting to land. authorities say the plane circled for a while before being cleared to land. the landing gear was torn off when it hit that large antenna.

terrified passengers described seeing flames shooting out of the engine. >> everything flashed and a big piece of steel or something came up from my seat. we all hit our heads. we thought we were goners. >> the tased and injured -- dazed and injured passengers endured another ordeal. they had to sand in the snow. some even without shoes on. they day it took more than an hour for -- they say it took more than an hour for shuttle buses to arrive. 25 people were hurt. but amazingly, most of the insurance were minors. harrison ford is home from the hospital after peaking injured in a -- being injured in a plane crash. he crashed onto a golf course march 5th. it was reported he had several broken bones including a broken pelvis. and doctors who have not

treated ford say he will likely need therapy to help him learn to walk again without pain. the attorney hing a bay area man allegedly involved in what an incident. he's not saying what an e-mail says. but he says it shows aaron quinn was not involved in last week's kidnapping of denise huskins. she turned up unharmed near her parents' home in huntington beach on wednesday. no one has been charged in this case. san francisco-based stubhub is suing the golden state warriors and ticketmaster. stubhub says the warriors and ticketmaster conspired to create an illegal resale market. stubhub claims the warriors have sold season ticketholders they will have their ticket privileges revoked if they tell through anything other than

(vo) make the switch. look for jennie-o ground turkey at a store near you. it is 7:12. a 9-year-old boy is recovering from head injuries after he fell off a slif cliff in sonoma county. he was playing when he fell 40 feet down onto jagged cliff. he actually managed to climb halfway back up the rocky slope but he fell back down again another 20 feet. rescuers say by the time they arrived, people had already brought the boy up. he was flown by helicopter to children's hospital in oakland. this is the second time a child was hurt in a fall along the

sonoma county coast in the past six months. in november, 4-year-old sebastian johnson tumbled more than 200 feet off a cliff at bodega bay. he spent more than two months in the hospital before he was finally released. 7:12. you're probably not just imagining. you are getting stuck a lot more often in bay area traffic. there is a new bay area traffic study that shows the average commute is a lot worse than it was just two years ago. brian flores joining us live. you are now here interstate 580. tell us how the bay area stacks up against other cities when it comes to our traffic. i'm looking over your shoulder there, too, brian. >> reporter: yeah. let's just say this morning, dave that 580 this morning through the livermore valley is certainly living up to the billing. as you can see, typical traffic here bumper to bumper slow and go really through castro valley. this is typical commute during the workweek but traffic

experts say it's only expected to get worse in the coming months and years. as we take a look at the map, they say these are the areas where the major choke points are for bay area commuters. we talked about the traffic coming in from tracy on 580 and 20 a. it remains heavy on 880 and highway 101 into san jose. now, according to thement transportation commission -- according to the traffic commission, they say the corridor into the livermore valley could surpass i-80. experts say 80 has actually fallen about 5% although some may not have seen a difference. traffic on highway 17, that commute from santa cruz into san jose has also dropped in recent years. but going back to the traffic on 580 coming in from 205. experts say the traffic is related to job growth especially the dublin/pleasant

air -- pleasanton area. some people have had. >> some people always come late for job. right there, vazquez, it's more slow the traffic. >> traffic is always screwed up because when you come over the hill from tracy, everything narrows down. it's always working on it. they've been working on it for years. i don't think they will ever finish it. if they could ever finish it, it would relieve the traffic. >> reporter: now, the other area where traffic is only expected to increase is along 101 from hollister and gilroy headed into san jose. that's another choke point, according to experts. they point to home prices being relatively cheap there as a contributor to traffic. westbound 580 going into the livermore valley area remains pretty heavy. starting to pick up and commuters, in fact, the whole

san francisco bay area spending at least an extra nine hours more on bay area roadways. that's compared to 2012. i believe 580 would be one of the worse commutes out there. do you agree, sal? >> yes. the affordable homes is what's driving people to live far away from the bay area. but it's just adding to other problems. one of the biggest commutes we've had this morning is 580. that report is dead on. let's take a look at some of these commutes as you drive through. you will see that the bay bridge toll plaza, which has always been kind of slow, is backed up for a 40, 45-minute delay. you will see a lot of slow traffic on the bridge. did you will be -- but it will be moderately heavy. let's take a look at the commute here on 880. this commute doesn't get slow until 8:00. southbound traffic is slowing as you head on down to fremont.

580 has been one of the worse commutes in a long time. this morning it was helped out by a crash that's been gone. we're taking a long drive to drive from grantline road to the 680. give yourself extra time. it will be busy. the latest count is 56 minutes between grantline and the 680 interchange. back to steve in the weather center. we have a little hint of a pattern change. it's toward a cooler one. 85 in livermore yesterday. clear for most. patchy low clouds have regrouped. came in pretty quick there. mostly sunny this afternoon. but it will be a little cooler and even a cooler pattern tuesday, wednesday. that breeze cranks up. and the system will be dragging across us. these are the temperatures that we should be seeing this time of year. santa rosa, 66. we'll go 75 today. san francisco, should have a high of 62. 66. oakland airport, should be 65 we'll go 68 and 67 to 76 for

previously the attendance record was around 71,000. wrestle mania brought in nearly 77,000. the stadium was packed and traffic was congested even with people using public transportation, though, a spokesman told me it seemed as if the lines in the parking lot moved quicker as people were leaving the we're still, though -- they are still gonna wait to see what the final reports are. 49ers management is reviewing how things meant its a good opportunity for them to learn because from now until super bowl 50 which happens in february. it's unlikely another event will bring in that much traffic. we spoke with one wrestling fan this morning. >> it was pretty smooth.

recorder transcript and said the pilot admitted he did not use the bathroom before the flight. the paper reports that the copilot suggested that the pilot that he should leave cockpit. speculation continues over the mental health of lubitz. medication for depression was said to be found in his ate. a new report says he was treated years ago for suicidal tendencies. the crash of gerlen wings -- germanwings flight 9525 has renewed debate whether to install cameras inside the cockpits of planes. the idea first proposed back in -- back in 2000 by the ntsb. some argues cameras could provide critical visual information to help determine the cause of accidents. the airline pilot asocial has weighed in saying the data

recorders are sufficient. investigators still have interviewed a other work to do before they can reveal exactly what they found in the copilot's apartment and at his parents' hole. they are expected to question relatives, friends and coworkers as people search for answers. dave? all right, pam. thank you. 7:38. back here at home. it was terrify fog a couple in san jose. they watched a thief drive off with their suv and their 8- month-old baby daughter was inside. miguel and elizabeth rodriquez loaded their baby in their jeep to go to the park yesterday morning. they went inside for about 20 seconds. when they came back out, they saw a woman driving off with their car. miguel said he jumped into another car trying to chase down the thief. luckily, though, it took police officers just a couple of minutes to find the suv. it was left in a neighborhood right around the corner and inside was the little baby. she was crying but safe.

for injuries. there are also reports that a car tried to ram the gates of fort meade's nsa building an the driver was shot by police. we'll keep following developments and bring you more details as we get them, a shooting at the nsa building in maryland. there's new information that the nsa considered abandoning the secret phone system months before edward snowden exposed it. some intelligence officials at the nsa wanted to drop the program because they thought the costs outweighed the benefits. despite criticism, the nsa still continues to correct and forephone records for use in terrorism investigations. however, the law allowing such collection is set to expire in june. negotiations over iran's nuclear program, they are down to the wire. just one day before a deadline for an outline of an agreement. now, a group of negotiators

of slow. 15 minutes as you drive into the city. i do want to mention that traffic has been slow on 680 southbound as you drive from concord to walnut creek. we have some stop-and-go traffic. that's normal. slow traffic from walnut creek into the alamo/danville area. to 580 this has been the banner commute for bad reasons. it's backed up way back from the altamont pass all the way out to the 680/580 interchange. a couple of earlier accidents are to blame. in san jose, northbound 280 looks good. 85 is slow and soap is 101. 280 is the best of the three if you want to get into valley. let's go to steve. there wasn't much fog when i came in. that picked up quick. a little system is moving in and that will allow temperatures to cool down. temperatures were way above as you might imagine on sunday. had some record highs. those are disappearing ran --

it's getting more and more -- been no executions in ten years. it's been getting more and more -- >> yes. sal, you are watching the toll plaza and everything else? >> that's right. we've seen an imprompt, finally we're seeing light at the end of the tunnel, if you will allow me to use that term. this is a look at the bay bridge toll plaza, you can see traffic looks pretty good compared to what it did a few minutes ago. there is a little bit of a delay in some of those lanes but it's about a ten-minute drive and i have a feeling that this week we'll start to see a little bit of lightness in some of these commutes just because of spring break for some this week. some people have spring break next week. the next few weeks we might have a few people not going to work or going to school. let's take a look at the san mateo bridge. that looks okay. it's going to be moderately heavy. not especially windy on the bridges today. kind of look likes a normal commute. 880 northbound is slow getting into downtown oakland. i want to mention that 680 is still a little bit slow as you drive from condord to walnut creek as you drive through.

experts stay it will be one of the worse commutes in the coming years. as we take a look at the map, the areas where they are talking about, major choke points, we're talking about the 580/205 corridor, also remains heavy on i-80 and continues to be heavy now, highway 101 into san jose. that's according to the metropolitan transportation commission. traffic along 580 and the 205 corridor has grown 9%. experts say within the next five years, the livermore valley area could surpass i-80 as the worse commute for the bay area. experts say traffic on 80 has fallen 5% although many of you have not seen a difference. traffic on highway 17 has also dropped in recent years. but for traffic on 580 coming in from 205, expert says the traffic is related to job growth. we spoke to some commuters who say they've had it.

two people in the cockpit at all times. the united states began enforcing that after 9/11. australia is the latest to adopt the policy. >> the airlines will be acting immediately to implement this change and we would expect to see this policy in place within hours on our major airlines. >> the crash has renewed debate over cameras in the cockpit. the idea was first proposed in 2000 by the ntsb. some argue that cameras could provide critical, visual information to help derm the cause of accidents. the airline pilots association has issued an opinion that the voice and data recorders are sufficient. speaking of the data recorders so far the recorder for the german wings flight has still not been found. investigators at this point have only been able to get to the side by helicopter. but french authorities are building a road so they can get there more easily along with friends and family of the

victims. >> more and more interesting developments couple out. novato police are investigating a shooting that injured one man. the shooting happened near hamilton meadow park school shortly after 4:00 yesterday afternoon. a short time later, police arrested two suspects but no information about them is being released. the victim is being taken to marin general hospital. he's expected to survive. police still don't don't have a motive for the shooting. pretty terrifying moments for a san jose couple after a thief stole their suv with their 8-month-old baby inside. the couple says they loaded the baby in their jeep to go to the park yesterday morning. they went back inside for about 20 seconds. when they came back out, they saw a woman driving off with their car. miguel says he jumped into another car trying to chase her down. luckily, it took police a couple of minutes to find the suv. it was left in a neighborhood right around the corner and

8:44. a gut wrenching moment caught on camera as the fresno fire captain fell right through the roof of a burning garage. take a look. you can see the 25-year veteran not yet been identified walking along the roof when if suddenly collapsed sending him right into the flames and smoke below. neighbors watched in horror.

kennedy. we wanted to take you there live in boston. negotiations over iran's nuclear program are down to the wire. one day to meet a deadline for the outline of an agreement. the negotiators meeting in switzerland had a deadline of march 31st. just yesterday, iran backed away from a key part of that deal saying it wouldn't be willing to send a large portion of its stockpile of uranium to russia. that's a reversal of an earlier agreement. the march 31st deadline is to reach a basic deal e the deadline for a final deal is june 30th. 8:46. we're continuing to follow developing news out of maryland. a u.s. official now says that preliminary reports indicate one person is dead after a car with two people inside tried to ram a gate at the base. this -- these are pictures of the national security agency at fort meade. according to the official, a

car tried to ram the gates of the nsa building. that's when a gun battle start, until the driver was shot by police. there's damaged vehicles. and emergency vehicles are loading an injured uniform man into an ambulance. the fbi says the shooting is not believed to be related to terrorism. meanwhile, there's new information that the nsa considered abandoning its secret phone program months before edward snowden exposed it. according to the associated press, some officials at the nsa wanted to drop the program because they thought the cost outweighed the benefit despite criticism, the nsa continues to collect and restore phone records for use in terrorism investigations. however, the law allowing such collection is set to expire in june. >> we're learning that personal information including the passport information of president obama and 19 other world leaders was accidentally released.

according to the guardian, australia's immigration department gathered that very sensitive information for last year's g-20 summit. but accidentally e-mailed the information to a member of the organizing committee for the asian cup football tournament which was held in industrial in january. a department spokesperson says that information was not given to anyone else and it was immediately destroyed. well, jamie fox is coming under fire this morning because he made jokes about bruce jenner around his reported plans to transition into a woman. fox made the jokes during his opening at the i-heart radio music awards last night. >> we got bruce jenner will be here doing musical perform panses. overturned concrete mixer. the traffic is going to be slow on vasco road. 580 by the way nearby is still slow recovering from a morning of problems through the region. i also want to mention that southbound 880 still slow from 238 into hayward. we had an earlier accident. that's gone now. but traffic is slow beyond that all the way down to fremont. let's go to the bay bridge toll plaza, we're seeing improvement at the toll plaza, it a little bit. it's about a 15-minute delay getting into san francisco. and 280 san jose, right through downtown, we have our shot there. traffic looks good until you reach highway 17. then it slows down a little bit. >> let's go to steve. a little change. it will be mostly sunny. some low clouds have come creeping back tonight -- creeching back to the coast -- keeping back to the coast. the breeze will pick up later and the temperatures -- they will still be pretty warm. these are the average temperatures. should be in the 60s.
